We establish the photonic superfluid theory in waveguides made of self-defocussing polar crystals. In quantum theory it is shown that photons can sense an attractive effective interaction by exchange of virtual optical phonons. Such an interaction leads to the photonic superfluid state, in which a propagating photon pair consists of a combination of two photons with opposite transverse wave vector and spins. The most important property of the photonic superfluid state is that the system of photon pairs evolves without scattering attenuations. The traveling-wave superfluid state has the squeezing property and the soliton effect. 相似文献

在玻色-爱因斯坦凝聚(BEC)的超流现象的研究中,人们通常采用平均场近似下求解Gross-Pitaevskii方程的方法,我们采用更严格的准确对角化的方法对弱排斥相互作用下两维旋转N-Boson体系的凝聚状态进行了研究.研究表明,弱相互作用下的基态并不是人们通常认为的单一凝聚态,而是一个碎裂凝聚态.通过碎裂态能谱与平均场方法给出的能谱之间的比较以及条件几率分布函数的计算,我们指出这种碎裂凝聚态有着内在的不稳定性,很容易破缺到一个单一凝聚状态;计算给出的条件几率分布可以用来揭示破缺后的状态,其分布图案与平均场近似下所得到的涡旋图形相类似.我们进一步注意到过去研究工作主要集中在弱相互作用极限下和强相互作用Thomas-Fermi近似极限下这两种极端情况.为考察两种极限间的中间过渡区域,我们研究了中等相互作用强度下体系的基态性质. 相似文献

Spatial solitons are studied in a planar waveguide filled with nonlinear liquids. Spectral and spatial measurements for different
geometries and input power of the laser beam show the influence of different nonlinear effects as stimulated scatterings on
the soliton propagation and in particular on the beam polarization. The stimulated scattering can be used advantageously to

Pulse propagation equation of nonlinear dispersion surface plasmon waveguide is educed strictly from wave equation. The nonlinear coefficient is defined and then used to assess and compare the nonlinear characteristic of three popular 1-D surface plasmon waveguides: the single metal–dielectric interface, the metal slab bounded by dielectric and the dielectric slab bounded by metal. This paper shows that waveguides induced by grey screening-photovoltaic solitons are always single mode for all intensity ratios, which are the ratio between the peak intensity of the soliton and the dark irradiance. It finds that the confined energy near the centre of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of the guided mode increase monotonically with increasing intensity ratio. On the other hand, when the soliton greyness increases, the confined energy near the centre of the grey soliton and the propagation constant of the guided mode reduce monotonically. When the bulk photovoltaic effect is neglected for short circuits, these waveguides become waveguides induced by grey screening solitons. When the external bias field is absent, these waveguides become waveguides induced by grey photovoltaic solitons.[第一段] 相似文献

采用光线光学方法对非线性自聚焦现象进行仿真, 能够从宏观上直观地体现强激光的传输过程, 同时避免采用近轴近似、自相似近似等. 本文采用在光传输路径上垂直于光轴切片的方法, 将光的非线性传输转化为切片上的光对折射率的调制作用和切片间的线性传输. 在切片端面上统计光强后对量化误差进行了抑制, 而线性传输过程采用了亚当斯法求解光线方程从而解决了龙格库塔法等不能用于非线性光传输仿真的问题. 仿真结果显示, 强激光自聚焦在轴上有多个焦点, 且第一个焦点的位置随光功率的增大而更靠近入射位置; 由于追迹的是实际光线, 故可以得到近轴区以外区域自聚焦及成丝(环)的情况, 这对于强激光系统安全是有重要意义的. 利用已有的同样基于光线追迹方法的光学设计、仿真软件, 可以把非线性自聚焦介质和线性介质结合起来, 仿真光在实际强激光系统中的传输.

The anisotropic superfluidity in a weakly interacting two‐dimensional Bose gas of photons in a dye‐filled optical microcavity is investigated, taking into account the dependence of the photon effective mass on the in‐plane coordinate. With the use of the generalized Gross–Pitaevskii equation and the Bogoliubov approach, it is shown that the modulation of the microcavity width leads to an effective periodic potential and the periodicity of the condensate wave function, and both the condensate energy and the spectrum of elementary excitations depend on the direction of motion. The anisotropic character of the dynamical and superfluid properties, such as helicity modulus, superfluid density, and sound velocity, as well as experimentally observable manifestations of their anisotropy are described. 相似文献

Pulse propagation equation of 2-D nonlinear dispersion plasma waveguides is strictly educed from the wave equation. The nonlinear coefficient is defined, simplified and used to assess and compare the nonlinear characteristic of three popular 2-D plasma waveguides: the metal stripe, the V-groove on a metal surface and the triangular metal wedge. SPM (Self-Phase Modulation) of three 2-D plasma waveguides is predicted and discussed. The results indicate that the propagation distance is enough to observe SPM phenomenon in 2-D plasma waveguides. Both V-groove and Ag stripe are suitable for constructing nonlinear optical devices. 相似文献

We propose a unified theory to construct exact rogue wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrdinger equation with varying coefficients. And then the dynamics of the first- and the second-order optical rogues are investigated. Finally, the controllability of the optical rogue propagating in inhomogeneous nonlinear waveguides is discussed. By properly choosing the distributed coefficients, we demonstrate analytically that rogue waves can be restrained or even be annihilated, or emerge periodically and sustain forever. Pulse propagation of photon-added coherent states in waveguides with side-coupled nonlinear cavities
We present a theoretical analysis of pulse propagation in a waveguide with a side-coupled Kerr nonlinear cavity. As a specific application, we demonstrate how the nonlinearity has a profound influence on transport properties of a photon-added coherent state. We find that the fields provided by the coherent states facilitate a tunable nonlinearity on the few-photon level, allowing for a robust gating of single photons. 相似文献

In this paper, the slow light properties of the polyatomic Photonic Crystal (PhC) which has multiple different air holes in each primitive cell are investigated. A slow light waveguide with “U-type” group index-frequency curve, which results in nearly constant group index over large bandwidth, is achieved using this new photonic crystal geometry based on the square lattice. Also, the radius and position of the innermost rows of small air holes have been modified to investigate the feasibility of controlling the dispersion relation by subtle structural modification. Numerical results demonstrate that decreasing the group velocity effectively and meanwhile maintaining a large Normalized Delay-Bandwidth Product (NDBP) can be achieved by only modifying the radius of the innermost rows of small air holes. Shifting the innermost rows of small air holes toward the waveguide core is highly beneficial to enlarge the slow light bandwidth, but it contributes nothing to the promotion of NDBP. Our results provide important theoretical basis for the potential application offered by the polyatomic photonic crystal in future optical networks. 相似文献

optical activity of a wavequide film favors the incident light energy pumping to diffracted light for a TE-polarization wave
and decelerates this process for an incident TM-polarization wave.
