L‐arginine hydrochloride monohydrate (LAHCl.H2O) has been synthesized and single crystals have been grown from its aqueous solution by slow evaporation and slow cooling methods. The solubility of the material was measured at various temperatures and bulk crystals of size 26×13×11 mm3 have been grown by optimizing the growth parameters. The grown crystals have been subjected to single crystal XRD studies to confirm the structure and to estimate the lattice parameters. FTIR analysis indicate the mode of vibrations of different molecular groups present in LAHCl and confirm the protonation of guanidyl, amino groups and deprotonation of COO‐ groups. UV‐Vis transmission spectrum revealed the linear optical properties of the grown crystals with a transparency of 65% over the entire visible range upto 300 nm. Thermal behavior of the grown crystal was investigated from DTA and TGA measurements. Dielectric studies have been carried out on the grown crystals. Kurtz and Perry powder SHG technique confirms the NLO property of the grown crystal. The SHG efficiency of LAHCl was found to be 0.38 with respect to KDP. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Single crystal growth of the organic nonlinear optical crystal, L‐arginine trifluoroacetate (L‐Arg·CF3COOH, abbreviated as LATF) is reported. Low temperature solution growth method is employed for the growth of bulk single crystals. The cell parameters are verified by single crystal diffraction. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) and Fourier transform Raman analysis are used to confirm the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal. The thermal properties of the grown crystals are studied by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorinetry analysis (TGA/DSC). Second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement confirms the NLO properties of the grown crystal. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

A potentially useful semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L‐arginine perchlorate, has been synthesized and bulk crystals have been grown by slow cooling technique. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, UV‐Vis‐NIR spectroscopy, FT‐IR, thermal analysis and SHG measurements. The grown crystals were thermally stable upto 153°C and exhibit SHG efficiency of about 0.17 with respect of Urea. The etching studies have been carried out on the grown crystal. LAPC has good optical transmission not only in the visible range, however, also in the near UV part of the spectra and hence it is a potential material for nonlinear frequency conversion. The refractive index was measured by the Brewster's angle method. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

An organic electro‐optic and nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L‐alaninium oxalate, was synthesized by the standard method. The synthesized material was purified by repeated recrystallization. Single crystals were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were transparent and had optimum dimensions (20 × 3 × 2 mm3) and were characterized by single crystal XRD, FT‐NMR, FT‐IR, TGA‐DTA and UV‐Vis‐NIR techniques. The second harmonic generation (SHG) from the material was confirmed using Nd:YAG laser. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

The organic material 4‐Ethoxybenzaldehyde‐N‐methyl 4‐Stilbazolium Tosylate (EBST) is a new NLO material and new derivative in Stilbazolium Tosylate family. In this work we synthesized the EBST, the derivative of DAST. By slow evaporation method, we have grown the EBST crystal. Powder XRD confirms the crystalline property, the lattice parameters are calculated from single crystal XRD data and the molecular structure also revealed. The crystal system is found as monoclinic. The crystalline perfection is assessed by the high‐resolution X‐ray diffractometry. A single and reasonably sharp peak observed in the diffraction curve indicates that the quality of the crystal is quite good without having any internal structural grain boundaries. The FTIR and proton NMR study confirm the presence of functional groups. From the UV – Vis Far IR absorption spectra the good transparency is revealed. The Kurtz Perry SHG test confirms the NLO property of the EBST crystal grown and it is 11 times greater than urea. The melting point of the grown crystal is found to be 237°C from the DSC curve. One of the halide derivatives of L ‐glutamic acid which was identified as a semiorganic nonlinear optical material, L ‐glutamic acid hydrochloride [HOOC(CH2)2CH(NH2)COOH.HCl], was grown as bulk single crystal and its significant properties were characterized. The stoichiometric title compound was synthesized and the solubility of its recrystallized form in DD water was determined in the temperature range 30–80 °C by gravimetric method. Structural confirmation was carried out by powder X ‐ray diffraction study through lattice parameter verification. Optical quality smaller dimension single crystals were grown from aqueous solution by self nucleation through slow evaporation of solvent method and a large dimension single crystal was grown by slow cooling method with reversible seed rotation technique. Morphological importances of different growth facets of the as grown crystals were studied through optical goniometry. Unit cell structure of the grown crystal was refined by single crystal X ‐ray diffraction analysis, functional groups present in the crystal responsible for various modes of vibrations were confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy analysis, thermal stability of the grown crytal was analysed by TG/DTA and DSC and second harmonic generation (SHG) of a fundamental Nd:YAG laser beam by Kurtz technique. Results indicate that the grown crystal is in stoichiometric composition and has significant improvement in its thermal and SHG properties when compared to pure L ‐glutamic acid polymorphs. 相似文献

Single crystal of glycine lithium sulphate, a nonlinear optical material, was grown from aqua solution by temperature reduction method. The solubility and metastable zonewidth of glycine lithium sulphate were estimated using aqueous solution. The cell parameters of the grown crystal were estimated by single crystal X‐ ray diffraction analysis. The presence of functional groups was identified from FTIR spectrum. Thermal analysis was performed to study the thermal stability of the grown crystal. The transmission and absorption spectra of this crystal show that the lower cut off wavelength lies at 330 nm. Powder Second Harmonic Generation efficiency of the grown crystal measured by Kurtz technique is 0.75 times that of potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate. Vickers microhardness study was carried out on the well developed (011) face of the grown crystal. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

A new second order non‐linear optical organic crystal Urea L‐threonine has been grown by aqueous solution slow cooling technique. The grown crystal is non hygroscopic and transparent in the visible region. The solubility of the grown crystal was found. The crystal structure and perfection were determined using powder XRD and High resolution XRD. The molecular structure was confirmed by 1H‐NMR spectrum. Thermal properties of the crystal have been studied using thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The dielectric response of the crystal with varying frequencies at different temperatures was studied. UV‐Visible spectrum was recorded to study the optical transparency of the grown crystals. The second order non linear optical property was examined by Kurtz powder technique and found that the second order susceptibilities is 1.2 KDP at wavelength 1064 nm. The mechanical behaviour was studied by Vickers Microhardness test. The results are discussed in detail. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

Crystal structure and thermal stability of the hydrated crystals of the basic amino acid L‐arginine named as L‐arginine dihydrate (LAD), a nonlinear optical material have been reported here. The title compound crystallized in the space group P212121 with Z=4 and unit cell dimensions a=11.856(2)Å, b=15.694(2)Å, c=5.664(3)Å. The arginine molecule is a zwitterion with the guanidyl group accepting an extra proton from the carboxylate group. DTA‐TG analysis gives an idea about the thermal behaviour of LAD and ruled out the possibility of structural changes independent of mass changes. © 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Single crystals of a new L‐Lysine salt: L‐Lysinium trifluoroacetate {abbreviated as LLyTFA; [(NH2)‐(CH2)4‐CH‐(NH3)‐(COOH)]+ CF3COO‐} were grown by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution at room temperature. The grown crystals were subjected to single crystal X‐ray diffraction, FTIR and UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum analyses. The UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum shows that the absorption is very less in the whole of the region from ultraviolet to near IR. The Kurtz‐Perry powder SHG measurement using a Nd:YAG laser of wavelength 1064nm confirms the frequency doubling of the crystal and its powder SHG efficiency was measured as deff = 0.96 deff (KDP). The growth of a new nonlinear optical material L‐valine by solvent evaporation method is reported here. To grow good quality crystals pH value of growth solution has been optimized and solubility of L‐valine in different solvents and different pH values was determined. The grown crystals were characterized by IR, single crystal XRD, DTA and TGA, optical transmission and second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency measurement. SHG efficiency of L‐valine was found equivalent to KDP and its transmission is 75%‐80% from ultraviolet to near IR region. (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

Single crystal of 8‐hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) having chemical formula C9H7NO, an organic nonlinear optical (NLO) material has been successfully grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The crystal system has been confirmed from the powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. The crystalline perfection was evaluated by high resolution X‐ray diffractometry (HRXRD). From this analysis we found that the quality of the crystal is quite good. However, a very low angle (tilt angle 14 arc sec) boundary was observed which might be due to entrapping of solvent molecules in the crystal during growth. Its optical behavior has been examined by UV‐Vis. analysis, which shows the absence of absorbance between the wavelengths ranging from 400 to 1200 nm. From the thermal analysis it was observed that the material exhibits single sharp weight loss starting at 113°C without any degradation. The laser damage threshold was measured at single shot mode and the SHG behavior has been tested using Nd:YAG laser as a source. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

Single crystals of 2‐naphthol was grown in slow evaporation solution growth technique. Grown crystals were characterized by various characterization techniques. Powder X‐ ray diffraction studies reveal that the grown crystal belongs to monoclinic system with noncentrosymmetric space group. Vibrational bands of the various functional groups and their significance were investigated by analyzing the vibrational spectra. Melting point and the decomposition temperature of the grown crystal was premeditated from the thermal analysis. From the UV‐VIS‐NIR spectrum the electronic excitation mechanism and the transmittance abilities of the crystal was studied. Theoretical value of first static hyperpolarizability was calculated and compared with urea. Second harmonic generation efficiency of the crystal is 0.6 times that of KDP. Single crystals of pure and Lanthanum added KDP crystals were grown from aqueous solution. The influence of La3+ ions in KDP crystals is studied. Isolated centers are formed by La3+ ions in KDP structure along (100) plane. La3+ ions incorporated into superficial crystal growth layer and slightly affect the growth process as they generate weak lattice stresses. The creation of these weak lattice stress is confirmed by Vickers's micro hardness test. The HRXRD analysis showed reduced structural defects in the La added KDP in the (100) plane than pure KDP. The incorporation of La in the crystal was confirmed by EDAX analysis. The Kurtz's powder SHG efficiency was found to be 1.5 times that of pure KDP. The UV‐Vis transmission spectra of La added KDP showed excellent transmittance from 1100 nm to 340 nm and did not show any change in lower cutoff wavelength with respect to pure KDP. Laser damage threshold value has been determined using Q‐switched Nd:YAG laser operating at 1064 nm and with 65 ns pulses in single shot mode. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献

A new organic compound of bis-glycine maleate was synthesized in the alkaline medium of 10% ammonium hydroxide solution. The bulk single crystals of Bis-Glycine Maleate (BGM) have been grown by slow cooling method. The grown crystals were characterized by employing single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, optical absorption spectral studies and thermo gravimetric analysis. The microhardness studies confirmed that the BGM has a fairly high Vicker’s hardness number value (41 kg mm−2) in comparison to other organic NLO crystals. Second harmonic generation efficiency of the crystal measured by Kurtz–Perry powder method using Nd:YAG laser is found to be comparable to that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). Frequency dependent dielectric studies were carried out along the major growth axis. 相似文献

Nonlinear optical material of L‐alaninium oxalate (LAO) has been synthesized and single crystals are grown by slow evaporation technique. The solubility data of LAO is determined in water. Single crystal X‐ray diffraction study showed that LAO belongs to orthorhombic system with a non‐centrosymmetric space‐group P212121. The functional groups have been identified from FT‐IR spectrum. The UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum of LAO shows less optical absorption in the entire visible region. The second harmonic generation (SHG) in the material was estimated using Nd:YAG laser. The mechanical properties of the grown crystals are studied using Vickers microhardness tester.
