We study the limiting thermodynamic behavior of the normalized sums of spins in multi-species Curie-Weiss models. We find sufficient conditions for the limiting random vector to be Gaussian (or to have an exponential distribution of higher order) and compute the covariance matrix in terms of model parameters.  相似文献

We study nonlinear logarithmic Schrödinger equation in three dimensions. We examine energy levels in this setting, we are especially interested in the ground state. We also show some topological properties of the spectrum. The main contribution of this paper is the first rigorous proof of existence of the ground state in logarithmic quantum mechanics.  相似文献

We show that the ground state energy of the translationally invariant Nelson model, describing a particle coupled to a relativistic field of massless bosons, is an analytic function of the coupling constant and the total momentum. In this paper we study the threshold voter models on homogeneous trees. We give the definition of the ‘critical density’ of the models and obtain an estimation of it. Furthermore, we study the exponential rate at which the process converges to an absorbed state δ 0 in the subcritical case. At the end of the paper, we propose two conjectures about the phase transition phenomenons of our models.  相似文献

Hierarchical models of quantum anharmonic oscillators with a polynomial anharmonicity and interaction decaying as (distance)-1-λ are considered. For a class of such models (including ϕ4-type anharmonicity ones), it is shown that the critical fluctuations of the position operator are absent, for all λ > 0 and all temperatures, provided the oscillators mass in less than some threshold value depending on the anharmonicity parameters. This result may be interpreted as a rigorous mathematical justification of physical arguments showing that quantum fluctuations can damp phase transitions. We consider a polymer with configuration modeled by the path of a Markov chain, interacting with a potential u + V n which the chain encounters when it visits a special state 0 at time n. The disorder (V n ) is a fixed realization of an i.i.d. sequence. The polymer is pinned, i.e. the chain spends a positive fraction of its time at state 0, when u exceeds a critical value. We assume that for the Markov chain in the absence of the potential, the probability of an excursion from 0 of length n has the form \({n^{-c}\varphi(n)}\) with c ≥  1 and φ slowly varying. Comparing to the corresponding annealed system, in which the V n are effectively replaced by a constant, it was shown in [1,4,13] that the quenched and annealed critical points differ at all temperatures for 3/2 < c < 2 and c > 2, but only at low temperatures for c < 3/2. For high temperatures and 3/2 < c < 2 we establish the exact order of the gap between critical points, as a function of temperature. For the borderline case c = 3/2 we show that the gap is positive provided \({\varphi(n) \to 0}\) as n → ∞, and for c > 3/2 with arbitrary temperature we provide an alternate proof of the result in [4] that the gap is positive, and extend it to c = 2.  相似文献

The article begins with some personal comments by the author on the outstanding contributions of Michael Fisher to statistical mechanics and critical phenomena. Its major aim is to trace the contributions of a number of pioneering personalities to the early history of equilibrium statistical mechanics. Four different areas are considered: (1) Classical Statistical Mechanics, (2) Quantum Statistical Mechanics, (3) Interacting Systems, and (4) The Ising Model. The article is concerned with the development and applications of statistical mechanics when certain basic assumptions are made. It does not deal with the justification of these assumptions which is a sophisticated discipline of its own.  相似文献

Several classical problems in symbolic dynamics concern the characterization of the simplex of measures of maximal entropy. For subshifts of finite type in higher dimensions, methods of statistical mechanics are ideal for dealing with these problems. R. Burton and J. Steif developed a strategy to construct examples of strongly irreducible subshifts of finite type admitting several measures of maximal entropy. This strategy exploits a correspondence between equilibrium statistical mechanics and symbolic dynamics—a correspondence which was later formalized by O. Häggström. In this paper, we revisit and discuss this correspondence with the aim of presenting a simplified version of it and present some applications of rigorous results concerning the Potts model and the six-vertex model to symbolic dynamics, illustrating in this way the possibilities of this correspondence.  相似文献

Under mild summability conditions on the growth of the derivative on critical orbits, we prove the central limit theorem and a vector-valued almost sure invariance principle. Statistical Mechanics of Complex Systems for Pattern Identification   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper presents a statistical mechanics concept for identification of behavioral patterns in complex systems based on measurements (e.g., time series data) of macroscopically observable parameters and their operational characteristics. The tools of statistical mechanics, which provide a link between the microscopic (i.e., detailed) and macroscopic (i.e., aggregated) properties of a complex system are used to capture the emerging information and to identify the quasi-stationary evolution of behavioral patterns. The underlying theory is built upon thermodynamic formalism of symbol sequences in the setting of a generalized Ising model (GIM) of lattice-spin systems. In this context, transfer matrix analysis facilitates construction of pattern vectors from observed sequences. The proposed concept is experimentally validated on a richly instrumented laboratory apparatus that is operated under oscillating load for identification of evolving microstructural changes in polycrystalline alloys.
