If a homeomorphism on the bucket handle has an invariant composant, it has a fixed point in that composant. It follows that a homeomorphism on the bucket handle has at least two fixed points. Our methods apply to general Knaster continua.

A discrete complex-valued bidirectional associative memory (CVBAM) is considered. The input and output of CVBAM are bipolar complex numbers, of which the two components take the value of either −1 or 1. We prove that the stored patterns are all fixed points of CVBAM provided certain sufficient conditions are satisfied. It is shown that each fixed point belongs to a fixed point group which consists of four fixed points. Supporting numerical results are provided.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of the existence and computation of fixed points for fuzzy mappings is approached. A fuzzy mapping R over a set X is defined to be a function attaching to each x in X a fuzzy subset Rχ of X. An element x of X is called fixed point of R iff its membership degree to Rχ is at least equal to the membership degree to Rχ of any y?X, i.e. Rχ(χ)? Rχ(y)(?y?X). Two existence theorems for fixed points of a fuzzy mapping are proved and an algorithm for computing approximations of such a fixed point is described. The convergence theorem of our algorithm is proved under the restrictive assumption that for any x in X, the membership function of Rχ has a ‘complementary function’. Examples of fuzzy mappings having this property are given, but the problem of proving general criteria for a function to have a complementary remain open.  相似文献

A fixed point detection theorem for a family of maps defined on the once punctured torus is proved. As a consequence, we produce an example of a homotopy class [f] of self-maps on the once punctured torus that illustrates the following: (i) there is a map in the homotopy class that has no fixed points, and (ii) if the image of f lies in a 1-complex that embeds as a homotopy equivalence, then f must have a fixed point.  相似文献

We give a new proof of the following result due to Duan: Let be any self-map of a finite connected -space. Then has a fixed point if . Our proof is based on an approach due to Steve Halperin, whereby the Lefschetz number of a self-map is expressed in terms of the eigenvalues of the induced homomorphism of rational homotopy groups. This allows us to give a considerably shorter proof which avoids most of the technicalities of the original proof.

In this paper, we study the fixed point set of the non-expansive mapping TμTμ for a Banach space with uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm when μμ is a multiplicative left invariant mean on l(S)l(S). As an application, we establish nonlinear ergodic properties for an extremely amenable semigroup of non-expansive mappings in a Banach space with uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm. Furthermore, we improve a recent result of Atsushiba and Takahashi [S. Atsushiba, W. Takahashi, Weak and strong convergence theorems for non-expansive semigroups in a Banach spaces satisfying Opial’s condition, Sci. Math. Jpn. (in press)] on the fixed point set of non-expansive mappings associated with a left invariant mean on a left amenable semigroup.  相似文献

S. Hu and Y. Sun [S. Hu, Y. Sun, Fixed point index for weakly inward mappings, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 172 (1993) 266-273] defined the fixed point index for weakly inward mappings, investigated its properties and studied the fixed points for such mappings. In this paper, following S. Hu and Y. Sun, we continue to investigate boundary conditions, under which the fixed point index for the completely continuous and weakly inward mapping, denoted by i(A,Ω,P), is equal to 1 or 0. Correspondingly, we can obtain some new fixed point theorems of the completely continuous and weakly inward mappings and existence theorems of solutions for the equations Ax=μx, which extend many famous theorems such as Leray-Schauder's theorem, Rothe's two theorems, Krasnoselskii's theorem, Altman's theorem, Petryshyn's theorem, etc., to the case of weakly inward mappings. In addition, our conclusions and methods are different from the ones in many recent works.  相似文献

We study the existence of fixed points in the context of uniformly convex geodesic metric spaces, hyperconvex spaces and Banach spaces for single and multivalued mappings satisfying conditions that generalize the concept of nonexpansivity. Different from involutive negations on [0, 1], the fixed points of an involutive interval-valued negation are uncountable. In this paper, all the fixed points of an involutive interval-valued negation are characterized. Also, it is proved that an involutive interval-valued negation is uniquely determined by its fixed points. In this paper, we present the definitions of generalized e-concave operators and generalized e-convex operators, which are the generalizations of e-concave operators and e-convex operators, respectively. Without compactness or continuity assumption of generalized e-concave operators and generalized e-convex operators, we have proved the existence, uniqueness and monotone iterative techniques of their fixed points. Our results are even new to e-concave operators and e-convex operators. Finally, we apply the results to the singular boundary value problems for second order differential equations.  相似文献
