We present comparison, uniqueness and existence results for unbounded solutions of a viscous Hamilton-Jacobi or eikonal equation. The equation includes an unbounded potential term V(x) subject to a quadratic upper bound. The results are obtained through a tailor-made change of variables in combination with the Hopf-Cole transformation. An integral representation formula for the solution of the Cauchy problem is derived in the case where V(x)=ω2|x|2/2.  相似文献

We study the homogenization of a Hamilton-Jacobi equation forced by rapidly oscillating noise that is colored in space and white in time. It is shown that the homogenized equation is deterministic, and, in general, the noise has an enhancement effect, for which we provide a quantitative estimate. As an application, we perform a noise sensitivity analysis for Hamilton-Jacobi equations forced by a noise term with small amplitude, and identify the scaling at which the macroscopic enhancement effect is felt. The results depend on new, probabilistic estimates for the large scale Hölder regularity of the solutions, which are of independent interest.  相似文献

In this paper, the numerical solution of the generalized Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation is presented by meshless method of lines (MOL). In this method the spatial derivatives are approximated by radial basis functions (RBFs) giving an edge over finite difference method (FDM) and finite element method (FEM) because no mesh is required for discretization of the problem domain. Only a set of scattered nodes is required to approximate the solution. The numerical results in comparison with exact solution using different radial basis functions (RBFs) prove the efficiency and accuracy of the method.  相似文献

On generalized means and generalized convex functions   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Properties of generalized convex functions, defined in terms of the generalized means introduced by Hardy, Littlewood, and Polya, are easily obtained by showing that generalized means and generalized convex functions are in fact ordinary arithmetic means and ordinary convex functions, respectively, defined on linear spaces with suitably chosen operations of addition and multiplication. The results are applied to some problems in statistical decision theory. This research was supported by Project No. NR-047-021, Contract No. N00014-75-C-0569 with the Center for Cybernetic Studies, The University of Texas, Austin, Texas, and by NSF Grant No. ENG-76-10260 at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.  相似文献

This paper proves the existence and uniqueness of solutions in a Banach space for the generalized stochastic Ginzburg-Landau equation with a multiplicative noise in two spatial dimensions. The noise is white in time and correlated in spatial variables. The condition on the parameters is the same as in the deterministic case. The Banach contraction principle and stochastic estimates in Banach spaces are used as the main tool.  相似文献

The classical generalized Hankel type convolution are defined and extended to a class of generalized functions. Algebraic properties of the convolution are explained and the existence and significance of an identity element are discussed.  相似文献

Generalized poles of a generalized Nevanlinna function Q ∈ ??κ (??) are defined in terms of the operator representation of Q . In this paper those generalized poles that are not of positive type and their degrees of non‐positivity are characterized analytically by means of pole cancellation functions. We show that the sheaves of algebras of generalized functions ΩG(Ω) and ΩG(Ω), Ω are open sets in a manifold X, are supple, contrary to the non-suppleness of the sheaf of distributions.  相似文献

Summary Homothetic function is a term which refers to some extension of the concept of a homogeneous function. We study different hierarchies of generalized homogeneous functions. The main result is a general classification of those functions.  相似文献

The paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of smooth solution for a generalized Zakharov equation. We establish local in time existence and uniqueness in the case of dimension d=2,3. Moreover, by using the conservation laws and Brezis-Gallouet inequality, the solution can be extended globally in time in two dimensional case for small initial data. Besides, we also prove global existence of smooth solution in one spatial dimension without any small assumption for initial data.  相似文献

In this paper we present a concept of the construction of generalized gradients by considering a development of directional derivatives into spherical harmonics. This leads to a derivation system as a system of generalized partial derivatives. Necessary conditions for local extrema for a broad class of not necessarily differentiable function can be given and a characterization of points of differentiability can be proved by using generalized gradients.  相似文献

To enrich the message space of a cipher and guarantee security, Ristenpart and Rogaway defined mix functions on two sets of equal size. To mix inputs from two sets of different sizes, Stinson generalized the definition of mix functions (called generalized mix functions), and established an existence result for generalized mix functions with 10 undetermined pairs of input sizes. In this paper, we complete the solution to the existence problem for generalized mix functions.   相似文献

In [H. Brézis, A. Friedman, Nonlinear parabolic equations involving measures as initial conditions, J. Math. Pure Appl. (9) (1983) 73–97.] Brézis and Friedman prove that certain nonlinear parabolic equations, with the δ-measure as initial data, have no solution. However in [J.F. Colombeau, M. Langlais, Generalized solutions of nonlinear parabolic equations with distributions as initial conditions, J. Math. Anal. Appl (1990) 186–196.] Colombeau and Langlais prove that these equations have a unique solution even if the δ-measure is substituted by any Colombeau generalized function of compact support. Here we generalize Colombeau and Langlais’ result proving that we may take any generalized function as the initial data. Our approach relies on recent algebraic and topological developments of the theory of Colombeau generalized functions and results from [J. Aragona, Colombeau generalized functions on quasi-regular sets, Publ. Math. Debrecen (2006) 371–399.].  相似文献

In this paper, the authors study monotonicity and convexity of the generalized elliptic integrals and certain combinations of these special functions, such as ma(r) and μa(r). Making use of these results, the authors obtain some sharp inequalities for the so-called Ramanujan's generalized modular functions.  相似文献

The general problem of periodic optimization is considered in this paper. The contribution consists in stating sufficient conditions for the optimality of a control satisfying the periodicity constraint. The result has been achieved by means of the classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation, suitably modified in order to consider the peculiar constraint of the problem. Finally, an interesting application of the theory to the case of linear, time-invariant systems is given. This work was supported by CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche), Rome, Italy.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for a generalized Boussinesq equation. We show that, under suitable conditions, a global solution for the initial value problem exists. In addition, we derive the sufficient conditions for the blow-up of the solution to the problem.  相似文献
