New diene and dithiol monomers, based on aromatic imides such as benzophenone‐3,3′,4,4′‐tetracarboxylic diimide were synthesized and used in thiol‐ene polymerizations which yield poly(imide‐co‐thioether)s. These linear polymers exhibit limited solubility in various organic solvents. The molecular weights of the polymers were found to decrease with increasing imide content. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of these polymers is dependent on imide content, with Tg values ranging from ?55 °C (with no imide) up to 13 °C (with 70% imide). These thermal property improvements are due to the H‐bonding and rigidity of the aromatic imide moieties. Thermal degradation, as studied by thermogravimetric analysis, was not significantly different to the nonimide containing thiol‐ene polymers made using trimethyloylpropane diallyl ether and 3,5‐dioxa‐1,8‐dithiooctane. It is expected that such monomers may lead to increased glass transition temperatures in other thiol‐ene polymer systems as these normally exhibit low glass transition temperatures. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Some new amino‐ and imide‐containing phthalonitrile compounds with 1:1 molar ratio of amino group to pthalonitrile unit were successfully synthesized. The molecular structures were characterized by spectroscopic techniques. They were thermally polymerized under nitrogen/air, even in the absence of curing additives. The thermal properties of the cured products were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The 5% weight loss temperatures ranged from 525 to 528 °C and 513 to 520 °C under nitrogen and air, respectively. Char yields (900 °C) were in the range of 62–70%. Rheometric measurements showed that the rate of the cure reaction differs for all the three monomers. The glass transition temperature advances with increasing extent of cure and disappears on postcure at 375 °C. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

Benzoxazine monomer (Ba) was blended with soluble poly(imide‐siloxane)s in various weight ratios. The soluble poly(imide‐siloxane)s with and without pendent phenolic groups were prepared from the reaction of 2,2′‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxylphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride with α,ω‐bis(aminopropyl)dimethylsiloxane oligomer (PDMS; molecular weight = 5000) and 3,3′‐dihydroxybenzidine (with OH group) or 4,4′‐diaminodiphenyl ether (without OH group). The onset and maximum of the exotherm due to the ring‐opening polymerization for the pristine Ba appeared on differential scanning calorimetry curves around 200 and 240 °C, respectively. In the presence of poly(imide‐siloxane)s, the exothermic temperatures were lowered: the onset to 130–140 °C and the maximum to 210–220 °C. The exotherm due to the benzoxazine polymerization disappeared after curing at 240 °C for 1 h. Viscoelastic measurements of the cured blends containing poly(imide‐siloxane) with OH functionality showed two glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's), at a low temperature around ?55 °C and at a high temperature around 250–300 °C, displaying phase separation between PDMS and the combined phase consisting of polyimide and polybenzoxazine (PBa) components due to the formation of AB‐crosslinked polymer. For the blends containing poly(imide‐siloxane) without OH functionalities, however, in addition to the Tg due to PDMS, two Tg's were observed in high‐temperature ranges, 230–260 and 300–350 °C, indicating further phase separation between the polyimide and PBa components due to the formation of semi‐interpenetrating networks. In both cases, Tg increased with increasing poly(imide‐siloxane) content. Tensile measurements showed that the toughness of PBa was enhanced by the addition of poly(imide‐siloxane). Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the thermal stability of PBa also was enhanced by the addition of poly(imide‐siloxane). © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of polyimides were prepared by a solution polycondensation reaction between 3‐carboxylmethylcyclopentane‐1,2,4‐tricarboxylic dianhydride and 4‐alkyloxybenzene‐1,3‐diamines in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone and chemical imidization with triethylamine and acetic anhydride. These polyimides possess great organo‐solubility, high optical transparency, and high pretilt angles. They are soluble not only in strong polar aprotic organic solvents such as N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, N,N‐dimethylacetamide, N,N‐dimethylformamide, m‐cresol, and 1,4‐butyrolactone but also in common low‐boiling‐point solvents such as chloroform and tetrahydrofuran, and some are even soluble in acetone. They exhibit high transparency at wavelengths greater than 320 nm. They can generate pretilt angles greater than 5°, and some can even achieve pretilt angles greater than 10°. The pretilt angle of a polyimide increases with the increasing length of the alkyloxy side group. The polyimides possess glass‐transition temperatures between 180 and 230 °C and thermal decomposition temperatures (onset temperatures) of about 435 °C. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Several new glycols containing both imide and sulfone groups, sulfonyl bisimide glycol (SBIG), were prepared from primary aromatic diamine, trimellitic anhydride and excess low molecular glycols. Then these SBIGs were used as chain extender to prepare a series of thermoplastic poly(imide‐urethane) (PIU), which introduced imide rings into the backbones. Compared to conventional linear polyurethane (PU), these PIUs exhibited better thermal stabilities because of the presence of the sulfone and built‐in imide groups. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 2,2,′3,3′‐Biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (2,2,′3,3′‐BPDA) was prepared by a coupling reaction of dimethyl 3‐iodophthalate. The X‐ray single‐crystal structure determination showed that this dianhydride had a bent and noncopolanar structure, presenting a striking contrast to its isomer, 3,3,′4,4′‐BPDA. This dianhydride was reacted with aromatic diamines in a polar aprotic solvent such as N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc) to form polyamic acid intermediates, which imidized chemically to polyimides with inherent viscosities of 0.34–0.55 dL/g, depending on the diamine used. The polyimides from 2,2,′3,3′‐BPDA exhibited a good solubility and were dissolved in polar aprotic solvents and polychlorocarbons. These polyimides have high glass transition temperatures above 283°C. Thermogravimetric analyses indicated that these polyimides were fairly stable up to 500°C, and the 5% weight loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 534–583°C in nitrogen atmosphere and 537–561°C in air atmosphere. All polyimides were amorphous according to X‐ray determination. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 1425–1433, 1999  相似文献

A bis(ether anhydride) monomer, 1,1‐bis[4‐(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)phenyl]cyclohexane dianhydride ( IV‐A ), was synthesized from the nitro displacement of 4‐nitrophthalodinitrile by the phenoxide ion of 1,1‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)cyclohexane ( I‐A ), followed by alkaline hydrolysis of the intermediate bis(ether dinitrile) and dehydration of the resulting bis(ether acid). A novel series of organosoluble poly(ether imide)s ( VI a–i )(PEIs) bearing cyclohexylidene cardo groups was prepared from the bis(ether anhydride) IV‐A with various aromatic diamines V a–i via a conventional two‐stage process. The PEIs had inherent viscosities in the range of 0.48–1.02 dL/g and afforded flexible and tough films by solution‐casting because of their good solubilities in organic solvents. Most PEIs showed yield points in the range of 89–102 MPa at stress‐strain curves and had tensile strengths of 78–103 MPa, elongations at breaks of 8–62%, and initial moduli of 1.8–2.2 GPa. The glass‐transition temperatures (Tg's) of these PEIs were recorded between 200–234 °C. Decomposition temperatures of 10% weight loss all occurred above 490 °C in both air and nitrogen atmospheres, and their residues were more than 43% at 800 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. The cyclohexane cardo‐based PEIs exhibited relatively higher Tg's, better solubilities in organic solvents, and better tensile properties as compared with the corresponding Ultem® PEI system. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Viscoelastic properties of urethane and ester conjugation cardo polymers that contain fluorene group, 9,9‐bis(4‐(2‐hydroxyethoxy)phenyl)fluorene (BPEF), were investigated. As for the urethane‐type cardo polymers containing BPEF in the main chain, it had a high glass‐transition temperature (Tg), which was observed as the α dispersion on viscoelastic measurement, and its temperature depended on the chemical structure of the spacing unit, such as toluene diisocyanate (TDI), 4,4′‐methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), methylene dicycloexyl diisocyanate (CMDI), and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI). Moreover, the Tg of urethane‐type cardo copolymers with various cardo contents increased with an increase of cardo content. Owing to the increase of Tg of cardo polymers, another molecular motion can be measured at the temperature between the α and β dispersion that was assigned to the molecular motion of urethane conjugation unit around 200 K, and it was referred to as the αsub dispersion. The peak temperature of the αsub dispersion was influenced by the chemical structure of the spacing unit, but it did not change for the cardo polymer containing the same spacing unit. Consequently, it was deduced that the αsub dispersion was originated in the subsegmental molecular motions of the cardo polymers. Ester‐type cardo polymer had higher Tg in comparison with noncardo polymer that consisted of dimethyl groups (BPEP) instead of BPEF as well. The αsub dispersion was also measured at the temperature between the α and β dispersion, which was assigned to the molecular motion of ester conjugation unit, around 220 K. For ester cardo polymer, the γ dispersion was measured in a low‐temperature region around 140 K, and it was due to a small unit motion in the ester‐type cardo polymers, such as ethoxyl unit, ? C2H4O? . Moreover, the intensity of the γ dispersion of noncardo polymer was higher than that of cardo polymer, which means the molecular motion was much restricted by the cardo structure of BPEF. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of new poly(imide‐hydrazide)s and poly(amide‐imide‐hydrazide)s were obtained by the direct polycondensation of N‐[p‐(or m‐)carboxyphenyl]trimellitimide (p‐ or m‐CPTMI) with terephthalic dihydrazide (TPH), isophthalic dihydrazide (IPH), and p‐aminobenzhydrazide (p‐ABH) by means of diphenyl phosphite and pyridine in the N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) solutions containing dissolved CaCl2. The resulting hydrazide‐containing polymers exhibited inherent viscosities in the 0.15–0.96 dL/g range. Except for that derived from p‐CPTMI with TPH or p‐ABH, the other hydrazide copolymers were readily soluble in polar solvents such as NMP and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). As evidenced by X‐ray diffraction patterns, the hydrazide copolymer obtained from TPH showed a moderate level of crystallinity, whereas the others were amorphous in nature. Most of the amorphous hydrazide copolymers formed flexible and tough films by solvent casting. The amorphous hydrazide copolymers had glass‐transition temperatures (Tg) between 187 and 233 °C. All hydrazide copolymers could be thermally converted into the corresponding oxadiazole copolymers approximately in the region of 250–400 °C, as evidenced by the DSC thermograms. The oxadiazole copolymers showed a significantly decreased solubility when compared to their respective hydrazide precursors. They exhibited Tg's of 264–302 °C and did not show dramatic weight loss before 400 °C in air or nitrogen. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 38: 1599–1608, 2000  相似文献

4‐Fluorophenylsulfonylphenyl‐terminated polysulfone and 4‐fluorobenzoylphenyl ketone were prepared with bisphenol A and an excess of bis‐(4‐fluorophenyl)sulfone or 4,4′‐difluorobenzophenone, respectively, at 160 °C using potassium carbonate in N,N‐dimethylacetamide. The resulting polymers were reacted with 4‐hydroxystyrene to synthesize vinyl‐terminated polysulfones and ketones. The silicon‐containing polysulfones and ketones were prepared from the vinyl‐terminated polymer precursor and various H‐functional silanes or siloxanes. The synthesis of silicon‐containing polymers was achieved by hydrosilation with a rhodium catalyst. It was shown that the hydrosilation reaction proceeds with 55:45 chemoselectivity. The resulting polymers were investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy, DSC, and thermogravimetric analysis. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 39: 2937–2942, 2001  相似文献

Semi‐interpenetrating polymer networks (semi‐IPNs) were prepared from linear polyurethane (PUR) and polycyanurate (PCN) networks. Wide‐angle X‐ray scattering measurements showed that the IPNs were amorphous, and differential scanning calorimetry and small‐angle X‐ray scattering measurements suggested that they were macroscopically homogeneous. Here we report the results of detailed studies of the molecular mobility in IPNs with PUR contents greater than or equal to 50% via broadband dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (10−2–109 Hz, 210–420 K) and thermally stimulated depolarization current techniques (77–320 K). Both techniques gave a single α relaxation in the IPNs, shifting to higher temperatures in isochronal plots with increasing PCN content, and provided measures for the glass‐transition temperature (Tg) close to and following the calorimetric Tg. The dielectric response in the IPNs was dominated by PUR. The segmental α relaxation, associated with the glass transition and, to a lesser extent, the local secondary β and γ relaxations were analyzed in detail with respect to the timescale, the shape of the response, and the relaxation strength. The α relaxation became broader with increasing PCN content, the broadening being attributed to concentration fluctuations. Fragility decreased in the IPNs in comparison with PUR, the kinetic free volume at Tg increased, and the relaxation strength of the α relaxation, normalized to the same PUR content, increased. The results are discussed in terms of the formation of chemical bonds between the components, as confirmed by IR, and the reduced packing density of PUR chains in the IPNs. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Two series of highly soluble novel nitrogen‐ and sulfur‐containing conjugated polymers were synthesized via an acid‐induced self‐polycondensation of functional monomers with methyl sulfinyl and aromatic groups. The well‐defined structures of synthesized polymers were confirmed by their NMR and IR spectra. The highest occupied molecular orbital energy values for these materials, estimated by cyclic voltammetry, showed a broad range of values from about 5.0 to 5.2 eV used as hole‐transport layers (HTL) in two‐layer light‐emitting diodes ITO/HTL/Alq3/Mg:Ag [ITO = indium tin oxide, and Alq3 = tris(8‐quinolinato) aluminum]. The typical turn‐on voltage of these diodes was about 4–5 V. The maximum brightness of the device was about 3440 cd/m2 at 20 V. The maximum efficiency was estimated to be 0.15 lm/W at 10 V. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 40: 1321–1333, 2002  相似文献

In this study, the thermal and mechanical properties of biodegradable poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLA) were improved by reacting with 4,4‐methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI). The resulting PLA samples were characterized with Fourier transformation infrared spectrometer (FT‐IR). The glass transition (Tg) and decomposing (Td) temperature of the resulting products were measured using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. The tensile properties were also measured with a tensile tester. The results show that when the molar ratio of ? NCO to ? OH was 2:1, the Tg value can be increased to 64°C from the original 55°C, and the tensile strength increased from 4.9 to 5.8 MPa. This demonstrated that by reacting PLA with MDI at an appropriate portion, both the thermal and mechanical performance of PLA can be increased. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Thiourethane‐based thiol‐ene (TUTE) films were prepared from diisocyanates, tetrafunctional thiols and trienes. The incorporation of thiourethane linkages into the thiol‐ene networks results in TUTE films with high glass transition temperatures. Increases of Tg were achieved by aging at room temperature and annealing the UV cured films at 85 °C. The aged/annealed film with thiol prepared from isophorone diisocyanate and cured with a 10,080‐mJ/cm2 radiant exposure had the highest DMA‐based glass transition temperature (108 °C) and a tan δ peak with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 22 °C, indicating a very uniform matrix structure. All of the initially prepared TUTE films exhibited good physical and mechanical properties based on pencil hardness, pendulum hardness, impact, and bending tests. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Nanostructured amorphous bulk polymer samples were produced by processing them with small molecule hosts. Urea (U) and gamma‐cyclodextrin (γ‐CD) were utilized to form crystalline inclusion compounds (ICs) with low and high molecular weight as‐received (asr‐) poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and their blends as included guests. Upon careful removal of the host crystalline U and γ‐CD lattices, nanostructured coalesced (c‐) bulk PVAc, PMMA, and PVAc/PMMA blend samples were obtained, and their glass‐transition temperatures, Tgs, measured. In addition, non‐stoichiometric (n‐s)‐IC samples of each were formed with γ‐CD as the host. The Tgs of the un‐threaded, un‐included portions of their chains were observed as a function of their degree of inclusion. In all the cases, these nanostructured PVAc and PMMA samples exhibited Tgs elevated above those of their as‐received and solution‐cast samples. Based on their comparison, several conclusions were reached concerning how their molecular weights, the organization of chains in their coalesced samples, and the degree of constraint experienced by un‐included portions of their chains in (n‐s)‐γ‐CD‐IC samples with different stoichiometries affect their chain mobilities and resultant Tgs. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymer‐derived methods are one of the most important tools for the synthesis of ceramics with a finely dispersed microstructure. In this study, a soluble and meltable ZrC/C pre‐ceramic polymer, P‐DACZ, (which would later exhibit a high ceramic yield of 71 wt%) was synthesized via radical polymerization. By adding low molecular weight polycarbosilane in any proportion during the radical polymerization process of P‐DACZ, a soluble and meltable ZrC/SiC/C pre‐ceramic precursor, PCS‐DACZ (which would later exhibit a high ceramic yield of >80 wt%) was synthesized. After annealing at 1400 °C under an argon flow, the precursors converted into bulk ZrC/C and ZrC/SiC/C ceramic nanocomposites. The ZrC nanoparticles could resist any grain growth when heat‐treated at temperatures above 1800 °C because the C or SiC matrix prevented long‐range atomic diffusion of zirconium. Such ceramic nanocomposites would be suitable for structural and (multi)functional applications at harsh environments with high temperatures.  相似文献

The calcium salt of mono(hydroxyethoxyethyl)phthalate [Ca(HEEP)2] was synthesized by the reaction of diethylene glycol, phthalic anhydride, and calcium acetate. Calcium‐containing poly(urethane ether)s (PUEs) were synthesized by the reaction of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HMDI) or tolylene 2,4‐diisocyanate (TDI) with a mixture of Ca(HEEP)2 and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG300 or PEG400) with di‐n‐butyltin dilaurate as a catalyst. A series of calcium‐containing PUEs of different compositions were synthesized with Ca(HEEP)2/PEG300 (or PEG400)/diisocyanate (HMDI or TDI) molar ratios of 2:2:4, 3:1:4, and 1:3:4 so that the coating properties of the PUEs could be studied. Blank PUEs without calcium‐containing ionic diols were also prepared by the reaction of PEG300 or PEG400 with HMDI or TDI. The PUEs were well characterized by Fourier transform infrared, 1H and 13C NMR, solid‐state cross‐polarity/magic‐angle‐spinning 13C NMR, viscosity, solubility, and X‐ray diffraction studies. The thermal properties of the polymers were also studied with thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The PUEs were applied as top coats on acrylic‐coated leather, and their physicomechanical properties were also studied. The coating properties of PUEs, such as the tensile strength, elongation at break, tear strength, water vapor permeability, flexing endurance, cold crack resistance, abrasion resistance, color fastness, and adhesive strength, were better than the standard values. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel and conventional closed cell polyisoprene rubber (IR) foams were produced by a single step limited‐expansion and two step unlimited‐expansion foaming process, respectively. The effect of 3 to 12 part per hundred rubber (phr) of azodicarbonamide (ADC) foaming agent on their structure and properties of developed novel foams were studied. In developed novel foams, the density was strangely independent of ADC content; however, the cell sizes conversely related to ADC content and it decreased by 60% (555‐330 μm) and the internal cell pressure build up from 1 to 3.7 atm, which was related to pressure‐free foaming method. The both reasons of compressed gas trapped inside cells and constant density not only caused unique enhancement in novel foams mechanical properties as hardness and modulus but also improved their dynamic properties as hysteresis and elasticity. Results of conventional IR foams showed that, their foam density as well as dynamic and mechanical properties sharply decreased with increasing ADC content from 3 to 12 phr. For clear expression, in samples with 12 phr of ADC, novel developed foams have more foam density (180%), more hardness (240%), more modulus (290%), and smaller cell size (75%) than conventional foams. Finally, novel developed foams were super‐elastic material with no hysteresis and no plastic deformation while conventional foams had 40% hysteresis and 10% plastic deformation under the same compression conditions.  相似文献
