Rechargeable Mg batteries (RMBs) are advantageous large-scale energy-storage devices because of the high abundance and high safety, but exploring high-performance cathodes remains the largest difficulty for their development. Compared with oxides and sulfides, selenides show better Mg-storage performance because the weaker interaction with the Mg2+ cation favors fast kinetics. Herein, nanorod-like FeSe2 was synthesized and investigated as a cathode for RMBs. Compared with microspheres and microparticles, nanorods exhibit higher capacity and better rate capability with a smaller particle size. The FeSe2 nanorods show a high capacity of 191 mAh g−1 at 50 mA g−1 and a good rate performance of 39 mAh g−1 at 1000 mA g−1. Ex situ characterizations demonstrate the Mg2+ intercalation mechanism for FeSe2, and a slight conversion reaction occurs on the surface of the particles. The capacity fading is mainly because of the dissolution of Fe2+, which is caused by the reaction between Fe2+ and Cl of the electrolyte during the charge process on the surface of the particles. The surface of FeSe2 is mainly selenium after long cycling, which may also dissolve in the electrolyte during cycling. The present work develops a new type of Mg2+ intercalation cathode for RMBs. More importantly, the fading mechanism revealed herein has considered the specificity of Mg battery electrolyte and would assist a better understanding of selenide cathodes for RMBs.  相似文献

Rechargeable magnesium batteries (RMBs) have been considered a promising energy-storage device due to their high energy density and high safety, but they still suffer from a lack of high-rate performance and cycle performance of the cathode. Nanosized CuCo2S4/Cu7.2S4 composites have been synthesized for the first time by a facile solvothermal method. Herein, the magnesium ion storage behavior when applied in the cathode for RMBs is discussed. Electrochemical results demonstrated that the CuCo2S4/Cu7.2S4 composites exhibit a high initial discharge capacity of 256 mAh g−1 at 10 mA g−1 and 123 mAh g−1 at 300 mA g−1 at room temperature and an outstanding long-term cyclic stability over 300 cycles at 300 mA g−1. Furthermore, the electrochemical storage mechanism demonstrated that the storage process of magnesium ion in the CuCo2S4/Cu7.2S4 cathode is mainly driven by strong pseudocapacitive effects.  相似文献

The development of multivalent metal (such as Mg and Ca) based battery systems is hindered by lack of suitable cathode chemistry that shows reversible multi-electron redox reactions. Cationic redox centres in the classical cathodes can only afford stepwise single-electron transfer, which are not ideal for multivalent-ion storage. The charge imbalance during multivalent ion insertion might lead to an additional kinetic barrier for ion mobility. Therefore, multivalent battery cathodes only exhibit slope-like voltage profiles with insertion/extraction redox of less than one electron. Taking VS4 as a model material, reversible two-electron redox with cationic–anionic contributions is verified in both rechargeable Mg batteries (RMBs) and rechargeable Ca batteries (RCBs). The corresponding cells exhibit high capacities of >300 mAh g−1 at a current density of 100 mA g−1 in both RMBs and RCBs, resulting in a high energy density of >300 Wh kg−1 for RMBs and >500 Wh kg−1 for RCBs. Mechanistic studies reveal a unique redox activity mainly at anionic sulfides moieties and fast Mg2+ ion diffusion kinetics enabled by the soft structure and flexible electron configuration of VS4.  相似文献

Amorphous MnO2 has been prepared from the reduction of KMnO4 in ethanol media by a facile one‐step wet chemical route at room temperature. The electrochemical properties of amorphous MnO2 as cathode material in sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs ) are studied by galvanostatic charge/discharge testing. And the structure and morphologies of amorphous MnO2 are investigated by X‐ray diffraction (XRD ), scanning electron microscopy (SEM ), transmission electron microscopy (TEM ) and Raman spectra. The results reveal that as‐synthesized amorphous MnO2 electrode material exhibits a spherical morphology with a diameter between 20 and 60 nm. The first specific discharge capacity of the amorphous MnO2 electrode is 123.2 mAh •g−1 and remains 136.8 mAh •g−1 after 100 cycles at the current rate of 0.1 C. The specific discharge capacity of amorphous MnO2 is maintained at 139.2, 120.4, 89, 68 and 47 mAh •g−1 at the current rate of 0.1 C, 0.2 C, 0.5 C, 1 C and 2 C, respectively. The results indicate that amorphous MnO2 has great potential as a promising cathode material for SIBs .  相似文献

Rechargeable zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are potential for grid-scale applications owing to their safety, low price, and available sources. The development of ZIBs cathode with high specific capacity, wide operating voltage window and stable cyclability is urgently needed in next-generation commercial batteries. Herein, we report a structurally crystalline-stable Mn(VO3)2 nanobelts cathode for ZIBs prepared via a facile hydrothermal method. The as-synthesized Mn(VO3)2 exhibited high specific capacity of 350 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1, and maintained a capacity retention of 92 % after 10,000 cycles at 2 A g−1. It also showed good rate performance and obtained a reversible capacity of up to 200 mAh g−1 after 600 cycles at 0.2 A g−1 under −20 °C. The electrochemical tests suggest that Mn(VO3)2 nanobelts impart fast Zn2+ ions migration, and the introduction of manganese atoms help make the structures more indestructible, leading to a good rate performance and prolonged cycle lifespan.  相似文献

Selenium (Se) is an element in the same main group as sulfur and is characterized by high electrical conductivity and large capacity (675 mAh g−1). Herein, a novel ultra-high dispersion amorphous selenium graphene composite (a-Se/rGO) was synthesized and a selenium nanorods graphene composite (b-Se/rGO) was prepared by hydrothermal method as the cathode material for all solid-state lithium−selenium (Li−Se) batteries, hoping to improve the efficiency and utilization rate of active substances in all solid-state batteries. The all-solid-state batteries were assembled using a heated thawing electrolyte (2LiIHPN−LiI; HPN=3-hydroxypropionitrile). The utilization rate of a-Se/rGO was 103 % and the capacity was 697 mAh g−1, which remained at 281 mAh g−1 (41.6 % of the 675 mAh g−1) after 30 cycles under 0.5 C. Notably, a-Se/rGO showed excellent performance concerning its utilization rate, with a capacity of up to 610 mAh g−1 at 2 C, due to the high availability of amorphous Se and the special properties of the electrolytes. However, in the charge and discharge cycles, the second discharge capacity of a-Se/rGO was more significantly attenuated than that of the first discharge due to the formation of larger crystals of selenium during the charging process. The battery assembled using b-Se/rGO maintained a capacity of 270.58 mAh g−1 after 30 cycles (the retention rate of discharge capacity was 66.13 % compared with that in the first cycle). Through TEM and other relevant tests, it is speculated that amorphous selenium is conducive to capacity release, which, however, is affected by the formation of crystalline selenium after the first charge process.  相似文献

Paper cup composed of crude cellulose is a common waste in daily life. In this paper, hierarchical porous carbons have been successfully prepared by an initial hydrothermal treatment and subsequent activation route from abandoned paper cup, and then paper cup derived carbons are used as scaffolds to fabricate serial carbon/Se composites. The optimal composite presents unique 3D porous structure, with amorphous selenium uniformly confined into the micropores of carbon. As the cathode materials of Li-Se battery, this composite reveals an initial reversible discharge capacity of 517.2 mAh g−1 at 0.2C, and a capacity value of 431.9 mAh g−1 can be retained after 60 cycles. Even at a high rate of 4C, a capacity value of 295.8 mAh g−1 can be obtained. By comparison, the improved electrochemical performance of the optimal composite should be attributed to reasonable porous structure and effective encapsulation of amorphous selenium.  相似文献

Here, flower-like manganese oxide with enriched oxygen vacancies were reported for high performance supercapacitors. The moderate oxygen-vacancy were achieved by controlling annealing atmosphere. Benefiting from improving the conductivity and the density of active sites, MnOx−Ar sample as an electrode material has remarkable specific capacity (339 mAh g−1 at 0.5 A g−1), extraordinary rate capability (90 % capacity retention at 1 A g−1), and good cycling property (90 % capacity retention at 1 A g−1 after 5000 cycles). Additionally, the asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) was assembled which used the MnOx−Ar sample as cathode and Kochen Black (KB) as anode, which displayed a remarkable energy density (16 Wh kg−1) at a large power density (7593 W kg−1). These results, on the one hand, further expand the application of MnO2-based materials, and on the other hand, offer a new perspective for the oxygen non-stoichiometry in material electrochemistry.  相似文献

Vanadium-based oxides with high theoretical specific capacities and open crystal structures are promising cathodes for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). In this work, the confined synthesis can insert metal ions into the interlayer spacing of layered vanadium oxide nanobelts without changing the original morphology. Furthermore, we obtain a series of nanomaterials based on metal-confined nanobelts, and describe the effect of interlayer spacing on the electrochemical performance. The electrochemical properties of the obtained Al2.65V6O132.07H2O as cathodes for AZIBs are remarkably improved with a high initial capacity of 571.7 mAh ⋅ g−1 at 1.0 A g−1. Even at a high current density of 5.0 A g−1, the initial capacity can still reach 205.7 mAh g−1, with a high capacity retention of 89.2 % after 2000 cycles. This study demonstrates that nanobelts confined with metal ions can significantly improve energy storage applications, revealing new avenues for enhancing the electrochemical performance of AZIBs.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are one of the most promising high-energy-density storage systems. However, serious capacity attenuation and poor cycling stability induced by the shuttle effect of polysulfide intermediates can impede the practical application of Li-S batteries. Herein we report a novel sulfur cathode by intertwining multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and porous boron nitride fibers (BNFs) for the subsequent loading of sulfur. This structural design enables trapping of active sulfur and serves to localize the soluble polysulfide within the cathode region, leading to low active material loss. Compared with CNTs/S, CNTs/BNFs/S cathodes deliver a high initial capacity of 1222 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C. Upon increasing the current density to 4 C, the cell retained a capacity of 482 mAh g−1 after 500 cycles with a capacity decay of only 0.044 % per cycle. The design of CNTs/BNFs/S gives new insight on how to optimize cathodes for Li-S batteries.  相似文献

Rechargeable aqueous batteries are promising energy storage devices because of their high safety and low cost. However, their energy densities are generally unsatisfactory due to the limited capacities of ion-inserted electrode materials, prohibiting their widespread applications. Herein, a high-energy aqueous all-sulfur battery was constructed via matching S/Cu2S and S/CaSx redox couples. In such batteries, both cathodes and anodes undergo the conversion reaction between sulfur/metal sulfides redox couples, which display high specific capacities and rational electrode potential difference. Furthermore, during the charge/discharge process, the simultaneous redox of Cu2+ ion charge-carriers also takes place and contributes to a more two-electron transfer, which doubles the capacity of cathodes. As a result, the assembled aqueous all-sulfur batteries deliver a high discharge capacity of 447 mAh g−1 based on total mass of sulfur in cathode and anode at 0.1 A g−1, contributing to an enhanced energy density of 393 Wh kg−1. This work will widen the scope for the design of high-energy aqueous batteries.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur batteries are promising secondary energy storage devices that are mainly limited by its unsatisfactory cyclability owing to inefficient reversible conversion of sulfur and lithium sulfide on the cathode during the discharge/charging process. In this study, nitrogen-doped three-dimensional porous carbon material loaded with CoSe2 nanoparticles (CoSe2-PNC) is developed as a cathode for lithium-sulfur battery. A combination of CoSe2 and nitrogen-doped porous carbon can efficiently improve the cathode activity and its conductivity, resulting in enhanced redox kinetics of the charge/discharge process. The obtained electrode exhibits a high discharge specific capacity of 1139.6 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.2 C. After 100 cycles, its capacity remained at 865.7 mAh g−1 thus corresponding to a capacity retention of 75.97 %. In a long-term cycling test, discharge specific capacity of 546.7 mAh g−1 was observed after 300 cycles performed at a current density of 1 C.  相似文献

Sodium/potassium-ion batteries (SIBs/PIBs) arouse intensive interest on account of the natural abundance of sodium/potassium resources, the competitive cost and appropriate redox potential. Nevertheless, the huge challenge for SIBs/PIBs lies in the scarcity of an anode material with high capacity and stable structure, which are capable of accommodating large-size ions during cycling. Furthermore, using sustainable natural biomass to fabricate electrodes for energy storage applications is a hot topic. Herein, an ultra-small few-layer nanostructured MoSe2 embedded on N, P co-doped bio-carbon is reported, which is synthesized by using chlorella as the adsorbent and precursor. As a consequence, the MoSe2/NP-C-2 composite represents exceedingly impressive electrochemical performance for both sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). It displays a promising reversible capacity (523 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1 after 100 cycles) and impressive long-term cycling performance (192 mAh g−1 at 5 A g−1 even after 1000 cycles) in SIBs, which are some of the best properties of MoSe2-based anode materials for SIBs to date. To further probe the great potential applications, full SIBs pairing the MoSe2/NP-C-2 composite anode with a Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode also exhibits a satisfactory capacity of 215 mAh g−1 at 500 mA g−1 after 100 cycles. Moreover, it also delivers a decent reversible capacity of 131 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 even after 250 cycles for PIBs.  相似文献

To recycle rusty stainless‐steel meshes (RSSM) and meet the urgent requirement of developing high‐performance cathodes for potassium‐ion batteries (KIB), we demonstrate a new strategy to fabricate flexible binder‐free KIB electrodes via transformation of the corrosion layer of RSSM into compact stack‐layers of Prussian blue (PB) nanocubes (PB@SSM). When further coated with reduced graphite oxide (RGO) to enhance electric conductivity and structural stability, the low‐cost, stable, and binder‐free RGO@PB@SSM cathode exhibits excellent electrochemical performances for KIB, including high capacity (96.8 mAh g−1), high discharge voltage (3.3 V), high rate capability (1000 mA g−1; 42 % capacity retention), and outstanding cycle stability (305 cycles; 75.1 % capacity retention).  相似文献

Organic p-type cathode materials have recently attracted increasing attention due to their higher redox potentials and rate capabilities in comparison to n-type cathodes. However, most of the p-type cathodes based on one-electron redox still suffer from limited stability and low specific capacity (<150 mAh g−1). Herein, two polymers, conjugated poly(diethyldihydrophenazine vinylene) ( CPP ) and non-conjugated poly(diethyldihydrophenazine ethylidene) ( NCPP ) containing two-electron redox dihydrophenazine, have been developed as p-type cathode materials. It is experimentally and theoretically found that the conjugated linkage among the redox centers in polymer CPP is more favorable for the effective charge delocalization on the conjugated polymer backbone and the sufficient oxidation in the higher potential region (3.3–4.2 V vs. Li/Li+). Consequently, the CPP cathode displays a higher reversible specific capacity of 184 mAh g−1 with excellent cycling stability.  相似文献

Emerging rechargeable aluminium batteries (RABs) offer a sustainable option for next-generation energy storage technologies with low cost and exemplary safety. However, the development of RABs is restricted by the limited availability of high-performance cathode materials. Herein, we report two polyimide two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D-COFs) cathodes with redox-bipolar capability in RAB. The optimal 2D-COF electrode achieves a high specific capacity of 132 mAh g−1. Notably, the electrode presents long-term cycling stability (with a negligible ≈0.0007 % capacity decay per cycle), outperforming early reported organic RAB cathodes. 2D-COFs integrate n-type imide and p-type triazine active centres into the periodic porous polymer skeleton. With multiple characterizations, we elucidate the unique Faradaic reaction of the 2D-COF electrode, which involves AlCl2+ and AlCl4 dual-ions as charge carriers. This work paves the avenue toward novel organic cathodes in RABs.  相似文献

Binary transition-metal oxides (BTMOs) with hierarchical micro–nano-structures have attracted great interest as potential anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, we report the fabrication of hierarchical cauliflower-like CoFe2O4 (cl-CoFe2O4) via a facile room-temperature co-precipitation method followed by post-synthetic annealing. The obtained cauliflower structure is constructed by the assembly of microrods, which themselves are composed of small nanoparticles. Such hierarchical micro–nano-structure can promote fast ion transport and stable electrode–electrolyte interfaces. As a result, the cl-CoFe2O4 can deliver a high specific capacity (1019.9 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1), excellent rate capability (626.0 mAh g−1 at 5 A g−1), and good cyclability (675.4 mAh g−1 at 4 A g−1 for over 400 cycles) as an anode material for LIBs. Even at low temperatures of 0 °C and −25 °C, the cl-CoFe2O4 anode can deliver high capacities of 907.5 and 664.5 mAh g−1 at 100 mA g−1, respectively, indicating its wide operating temperature. More importantly, the full-cell assembled with a commercial LiFePO4 cathode exhibits a high rate performance (214.2 mAh g−1 at 5000 mA g−1) and an impressive cycling performance (612.7 mAh g−1 over 140 cycles at 300 mA g−1) in the voltage range of 0.5–3.6 V. Kinetic analysis reveals that the electrochemical performance of cl-CoFe2O4 is dominated by pseudocapacitive behavior, leading to fast Li+ insertion/extraction and good cycling life.  相似文献

Nickel-rich (Ni≥90 %) layered cathodes are critical materials for achieving higher-energy-density and lower-cost next-generation Li-ion batteries (LIBs). However, their bulk and interface structural instabilities significantly impair their electrochemical performance, thus hindering their widespread adoption in commercial LIBs. Exploiting Ti and Mo diffusion chemistry, we report one-step calcination to synthesize bulk-to-surface modified LiNi0.9Co0.09Mo0.01O2 (NCMo90) featuring a 5 nm Li2TiO3 coating on the surface, a Mo-rich Li+/Ni2+ superlattice at the sub-surface, and Ti-doping in the bulk. Such a multi-functional structure effectively maintains its structural integrity upon cycling. As a result, such NCMo90 exhibits a high initial capacity of 221 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C, excellent rate performance (184 mAh g−1 at 5 C), and high capacity retention of 94.0 % after 500 cycles. This work opens a new avenue to developing industry-applicable Ni-rich cathodes for next-generation LIBs.  相似文献

We have successfully synthesized Na2FePO4F/biocarbon nanocomposite hollow microspheres from FeIII precursor as cathodes for sodium-ion batteries through self-assembly of yeast cell biotemplate and sol-gel technology. The carbon coating on the nanoparticle surface with a mesoporous structure enhances electron diffusion into Na2FePO4F crystal particles. The improved electrochemical performance of Na2FePO4F/biocarbon nanocomposites is attributed to the larger electrode−electrolyte contact area and more active sites for Na+ on the surface of hollow microspheres compared with those of Na2FePO4F/C. The Na2FePO4F/biocarbon nanocomposite exhibits a high initial discharge capacity of 114.3 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C, long-cycle stability with a capacity retention of 74.3 % after 500 cycles at 5 C, and excellent rate capability (70.2 mAh g−1 at 5 C) compared with Na2FePO4F/C. This novel nanocomposite hollow microsphere structure is suitable for improving the property of other cathode materials for high-power batteries.  相似文献
