The creep and long-time strength in interlaminar shear and the creep in compression in the direction of the reinforcement have been experimentally investigated for certain types of oriented glass-reinforced plastics. The specimens in the interlaminar creep tests took the form of short beams loaded in bending. The experimental creep data for shear and compression are well described by the hereditary theory with a kernel of the Abel type (shear) or in the form of a Rabotnov function (compression). If the stresses are constant in time, good agreement with experiment is also given by Findley's form of the aging theory. A deformation criterion of interlaminar shear strength is also obtained. The results of tests on wound glass-reinforced plastic specimens based on ÉFB-4 epoxy-phenolic-butyral composition and NS 55/6 glass strand reinforcement with a paraffin finish have been subjected to a statistical analysis with the object of determining the probability characteristics of the shear modulus. The shear modulus is determined for unidirectional structures and structures with reinforcement ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 3:2. Conclusions 1. When short beams made of composite materials with span-to-height ratios within the 4.0–5.0 range are tested in three-point flexure, the profile of shearing stresses over the height of a beam cross section departs appreciably from a parabolic one over approximately 40% of the span length.2. Initial waviness of the fibers and prestressing are investigated in relation to their effect on flexural stiffness and strength for beams with low shear strength. It is shown that prestressing the reinforcement increases the flexural stiffness but at the same time adds to the shear correction as a result of an increase in the modulus of elasticity Ex in the direction of reinforcement and the insensitivity of the shear modulus Gxz to prestress. It is established that prestressing increases the shear strength and the degree of anisotropy . The author describes the method and results of tests on tubular specimens of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic for creep under simultaneous torsion (shear in the plane of reinforcement), compression, and vibration in the longitudinal direction. The mechanism of shear failure is investigated. A theoretical analysis makes it possible to determine the limits of shear failure of reinforced beams in relation to the geometric parameters of the beam, the mechanical properties of the reinforcement and the resin, their volume content, and the loading and support conditions. The results obtained are consistent with the experimental data of [1]. Tensile, compressive, torsional, and combined creep tests have been performed on tubular specimens of a glass fabric-reinforced plastic. The sign of the normal stress has been found to have an important influence on the development of the shear creep strains. The accuracy of determining the elastic constants of reinforced plastics is estimated based on bending tests of short beams using the results of a numerical experiment with known elastic constants of the specimen material. Several combination variants for the initial values of the shear modulus and support radius are considered. It is shown that the calculation error of the shear modulus is considerably higher than that of the elastic modulus A decrease in the shear modulus increases the accuracy of its determination. The radius of supports affects this accuracy insignificantly.  相似文献

The shear creep and recovery of low-density polyethylene has been investigated in the constant and cyclic temperature regimes. It is shown that in the cyclic regime the relaxation processes are accelerated and the nonisothermal creep strains become progressively greater than the isothermal strains at the maximum temperature of the cycle. The results of a comparative experimental investigation of the short-term static and vibrational creep of a fabric-reinforced plastic in shear in the plane of the reinforcement are presented. An ultrasonic method of determining the elastic characteristics, developed for isotropic materials and based on the measurement of the angles of total internal reflection of ultrasound at a liquid-solid interface, is applied to an anisotropic Compreg of the DSPA type. The results obtained for the shear modulus using the ultrasonic method at 2.5 MHz and an independent method based on measuring the frequency of the damped torsional vibrations of a prismatic bar at 10–30 Hz are compared. The independent elastic constants of plastics unidirectionally reinforced with transversely isotropic fibers have been determined. It has been assumed that the distribution of reinforcement in a transverse section of the plastic is regularly rectangular or hexagonal. To determine the transverse elastic modulus and the shear modulus in the plane of reinforcement, a constancy-of-plane-sections hypothesis was used. The dynamic elastic H and shear Gdyn moduli of compact bone tissue have been determined by investigating the natural vibration frequency of specimens obtained from long tubular human bones. The results of experimental investigation into the mechanical properties of blends of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) with chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) in tension are presented. The specimens of pure LDPE, CPE, and nine types of LDPE/CPE blends, with different content of components at 10 wt.% intervals, were examined. Data on the influence of blend composition on the tensile stress-strain diagram, elastic modulus, yield stress, breaking stress, and ultimate elongation are obtained. The results of investigations of creep are also reported. The methods available for the estimation of the parameters, which determine the steady state conditions for the slow shear flow of polymers, under indifferent creep conditions have been considered, and the results of experiments carried out using a shear plastometer have been compared with calculations in which Boltzmann-Volterra equations with a memory characteristic have been used. The resolvent previously suggested in [3] has been employed in these latter equations. It has been shown that the equilibrium values for the modulus of rubber-like elasticity can be calculated from the results of experiments on unsteady creep states.  相似文献
