Based on experimental data on the ion charge distributions, the cross sections of single electron loss σ i, i + 1 and single electron capture σ i, i ? 1 by carbon ions with velocities (2.7–8) × 108 cm/s in different gaseous media (He, N2, and Ar) have been obtained. Regularities of the cross section variation of the electron capture and loss by carbon ions as a function of the ion velocity, ion charge, and atomic number of the target have been for the first time studied in a wide range of the initial ion charge, from i = 0 to i = 6. A qualitative agreement of the obtained results with the published data has been established for a number of other ions. Theoretical calculations of the cross sections of single electron loss by carbon ions in helium have been carried out.  相似文献

In the case of light-element ions propagating with velocities V = 1.83 and 3.65 au in H2, He, N2, Ne, and Ar, the loss cross sections σi, i+m for m electrons (m = 1, 2, 3) are considered. The partial loss cross sections σi(nl) for one of the outer 1s, 2s, or 2p electrons are determined using the obtained data. It is shown that the experimental cross sections for the loss of the 1s and 2s electrons by positive ions qualitatively agree with the theoretical values calculated in the Born approximation. In the case of the ion velocity V = 1.83 au, the cross sections σi for 2p electrons are greater than the cross sections σi (1s) and σi (2s) by a factor of 1.2–3 for the same binding energies of electrons in the ion (I nl > 20 eV). It is found experimentally that, at V = 1.83 au, the cross sections σi (2p) for I nl ~ 10–20 eV are less than the cross sections σi (1s) by a factor of 2–3, which is probably caused by a decrease in the screening parameter (θ2p < 1) of the outer shell of atoms.  相似文献

We study the cross sections σi, i?1, σi, i?2, and σ i, i?3 of capture of one, two, and three electrons by boron ions with charges i=1?5 and velocities V=(1.83?5.50)V0 in gaseous media with atomic numbers Zt varying from 1 to 54. The oscillatory form of the Zt dependence of electron capture cross section by boron ions, which has been established for lighter ions, is confirmed.  相似文献

The electron loss and electron capture cross sections σ i,i+m and σ i,im for boron ions and atoms traveling at the velocities V=1.19 and 1.83 a.u. in H2, He, N2, Ne, Ar, and Xe are measured. The known experimental data on these cross sections at velocities near the cross-section maximum are analyzed. It is found that the electron loss cross sections can be described by a formula which was previously derived in the free-collision approximation and takes into account features of both the ions and the ambient atoms. As the nuclear charge Z t of the ambient atoms increases, the cross sections vary nonmonotonically, increasing on average as Zt t 1/2 . A formula based on the model of independent electrons is proposed for electron capture by ions with small values of the charge i. It describes the dependence of the electron capture cross section σ i,i−1 on the mean binding energy of an electron in an ion with the charge i−1. The total electron capture cross section σ i,i−1 is proportional to the number of vacancies in the unfilled electron shell nearest the nucleus. The cross sections i,i−1 exhibit substantially nonmonotonic variation with Z t, increasing on average as Z t 1/3 . Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 116, 1539–1550 (November 1999)  相似文献

The dependences between the energy losses of beryllium ions penetrating through thin organic (celluloid) films and the initial ion charge i 0 and target thickness t are calculated. The proposed modified method is used to determine the charge fractions and average charge of an ion beam and the half-width and skewness of the charge distributions before the attainment of charge equilibrium. Calculations are performed for Be i+ ions with a velocity of 8 × 108 cm/s (E = 0.33 MeV/nucleon).  相似文献

Using objective physical criteria for data reliability, cross sections of partial photoneutron reactions (γ, 1n), (γ, 2n) and (γ, 3n) that are free of the shortcomings of neutron multiplicity sorting methods used on beams of quasimonoenergetic annihilation photons are obtained for 141Pr and 186W nuclei. Evaluation is performed using the experimental–theoretical method (ETM), based on the experimental cross section of neutron yield reaction σexp(γ, xn) = σexp(γ, 1n) + 2 σexp(γ, 2n) + 3 σexp(γ, 3n) + … and ratios F i theor= σtheor(γ, in)/σtheor(γ, xn) calculated within the combined model (CM) of photonuclear reactions, which stipulates that σeval(γ, in) = F i theor σexp(γ, xn). It is found that for 141Pr and 186W, ratios F exp i do not contradict the data reliability criteria only at energies up to ~21 and ~22 MeV, respectively. At the same time, there are notable discrepancies between F i theor and F exp i, and thus between the evaluated and experimental cross sections of reactions. It is shown that the discrepancies between the evaluated and experimental cross sections are due to the assumed unreliable experimental distribution of neutrons in the channels with multiplicities 1, 2, and 3.  相似文献

The cross sections of partial photoneutron reactions are evaluated for the 63,65Cu and 80Se isotopes. The cross sections are free of systematic uncertainties from shortcomings of the experimental methods for neutron multiplicity sorting based on measurements of neutron energy used in experiments with quasimonoenergetic annihilation photon beams. An experimental-theoretical method is used to evaluate cross sections σeval(γ, in)= Fitheor σexp(γ, xn), where ratios Fitheor = σtheor(γ, in)/σtheor(γ, xn) = σtheor(γ, in)/σtheor[(γ, 1n) + 2(γ, 2n) + …] are calculated using a combined model of photonuclear reactions, and σexp(γ, xn) is the experimental cross section of the neutron yield reaction free from neutron multiplicity sorting problems. The cross sections are evaluated for reactions (γ, 1n) and (γ, 2n) for the 63,65Cu and 80Se isotopes, and for the total photoneutron reaction σ(γ, Sn) = σ[(γ, 1n) + (γ, 2n) + …]. It is shown that noticeable deviations of the experimental cross sections from the evaluated values result from the unreliable sorting of neutrons between the channels with multiplicities 1 and 2.  相似文献

The cross sections σnl for ionization of hydrogen-like ions by heavy particles from the nl = 3s, 3p, 3d, 4s and 4p states have been calculated in the Born approximation. A structure in the energy dependence of the cross sections σnl and the ratios of the cross sections σnl1s due to the radial wave function of a bound state is discussed.  相似文献

We have studied the He2+-Li collision system at laboratory energies between 15 and 150 keV using optical methods. From the measured emission cross sections we derive state-selective capture cross sections for n = 2,3,4 and n ? 5 states of the He+ ions. Our data are consistent with theoretical predictions of Bransden and Ermolaev. The total capture cross sections as evaluated from our emission cross section data, agree very well with the results of McCullough et al. obtained from projectile charge detection measurements. Near 15 keV our emission cross sections for 30.4 nm and 25.6 nm are much larger than those measured previously by Barrett and Leventhal at slightly lower energies.  相似文献

The change in the average ion charge due to the presence of particles in metastable states in beams of helium-like ions has been studied. The charge distributions and average charges have been calculated for ions with nuclear charges Z = 3?7 and a velocity of 3.65 au in nitrogen. The previously obtained data on the cross sections of loss and capture of electrons by metastable ions and ions in the ground state were used in the calculations. It is shown that the presence of metastable particles in ion beams leads to an increase in the average charge and energy loss for all considered ions.  相似文献

The change in the average charge of helium-like ions when metastable particles are present in the beam is studied. The charge fractions and average charges are calculated as functions of the target thickness for ions with Z = 3–8 at a velocity of 3.65 au. Previous data on the cross sections for electron capture and loss by metastable ions are used in the calculations. It is shown that, for all ions under consideration, the presence of metastable particles in the beam leads to an increase in the average equilibrium charge and, possibly, to a corresponding increase in energy loss and ion ranges.  相似文献

The charge exchange and excitation cross sections at collisions of alphas with O4+(1s 22s 2) impurity atoms in a hot plasma for striking energies E c varying from 20 keV to 2 MeV are determined for the first time. The cross sections are calculated using the method of close-coupling equations with 13 singlet four-electron quasi-molecular states taken as a basis. The partial cross sections of charge transfer to the 1s, 2s, and 2p states of a He+ ion and for O4+(1s 22s 2) → O4+(1s 22lnl’) (n = 2, 3) electronic excitation of an oxygen ion are found. The maximal value of the charge exchange total cross section roughly equals 2.2 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 0.7 MeV. The excitation total cross section has a maximum of ≈ 7.7 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 80 keV for single-electron excitation and ≈6.5 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 0.7 MeV for two-electron excitation.  相似文献

Neutrons and γ-rays following 60 MeV proton bombardment of 165Ho were measured in coincidence with discrete γ-rays characteristic of the reaction channels (residual nuclei). The cross sections for the (p, xcnγ) reactions with x = 2–6, the γ-ray multiplicities, and the energy and angular distributions of the emitted neutrons were analyzed in terms of the preequilibrium and equilibrium deexcitation processes. Characteristic behaviours of the preequilibrium process were found in the (p, 2nγ) and (p, 4nγ) reactions where the sum ET, = ∑xEi of the energies Ei of the emitted neutrons was large, while those of the equilibrium process were typical for the (p, 6ny) reaction with small ET. The reactions are well reproduced by the expression σ. ≈0.35∑xσ (2, x?2) + 0.4∑xσ(1, χ?1)+ 0.25∑xσ(0, x), where σ(np, nc) stands for emission of np neutrons at the preequilibrium stage followed by evaporation of nc neutrons at the equilibrium stage.  相似文献

Experimental data on the cross sections of partial photoneutron reactions, obtained for 188,189Os isotopes using quasimonoenergetic annihilation photon beams and neutron multiplicity sorting method, are analyzed. Using special criteria (transition multiplicity functions F i = σ(γ, in)/σ(γ, xn), the ratios of the cross section of the corresponding partial reaction to the total neutron yield reaction’s cross section σ(γ, xn) = σ(γ, 1n)+ 2σ(γ, 2n) + 3σ(γ, 3n) free of the problems associated with experimental neutron multiplicity sorting), it is demonstrated that the data contain significant systematic errors. New data are evaluated for cross sections of partial photoneutron reactions (γ, 1n), (γ, 2n), (γ, 3n) and total photoneutron reaction (γ, sn) for 188,189Os isotopes within an experimental-theoretical approach proposed earlier. It is shown that the significant systematic errors in the experimental cross sections of partial reactions can be attributed to the ambiguity of the relation between the photoneutrons’ multiplicity and their kinetic energy.  相似文献

The spectra of secondary ion emission under the bombardment of a B-doped Si target by multiply charged Si q+ ions (q = 1?C5) have been studied in the energy range of 1 to 10 keV per unit of charge. A multifold increase in the yield of secondary cluster Sk n + ions, multiply charged Si q/+ ion (q = 1?C3), and H+, C+, B+, Si2N+, Si2O+ is observed as the charge of the multiply charged ions increases. The increase in the yield of secondary ions with increasing charge of the multiply charged-ion charge is most significant for ions with relatively high ionization potentials.  相似文献

Some ion-molecule reactions with negative ions (OH? and NH 2 ? ) have been studied using a primary ion source, in which the negative ions were produced by electron impacts with electron resonance capture, and a secondary ion source, in which the primary negative ions produced ion-molecule reactions with formation of secondary negative ions. The secondary ions were magnetically analyzed and registered by a multiplier. Cross sections of the reactions in function of the energy of the primary ions were measured in the region of low energies up to about 20 eV. In the low energy region the cross sections rapidly decrease with increasing energy ~E ?1/2 as it has been the case with the energy dependence of the cross section of charge transfer reactions with negative ions at the same energies.  相似文献

Data on the cross sections for single-electron charge exchange and excitation in collisions of He+ ions with C5+, N6+, and O7+ ions in the He+ ion energy range of 0.2–3.0 MeV are obtained for the first time. The cross sections for the single-electron charge transfer into the singlet and triplet 1snl states of C4+, N5+, and O6+ (2≤n≤5) ions and for the 1s → 2p 0, ±1 electronic excitation of He+(1s) ions are calculated. The calculations were performed by solving close-coupling equations on the basis of ten two-electron quasi-molecular states.  相似文献

Ionization processes of heavy ions colliding with atoms and ions at relativistic energies are considered. Formulaes for calculating ionization cross sections in the Born approximation using momentum-transfer representation without regard to magnetic interactions are given as well as those in dipole and impulse approximations. Using the LOSS-R [25] and HERION codes, calculations of relativistic cross sections are performed for H-like multiply changed ions with the nuclear charge Z ≈ 80?90, colliding with neutral atoms and for multiply changed uranium ions colliding with protons and carbon atoms. The results of calculations are compared with available experimental data and calculations performed by other authors.  相似文献

Theoretical estimation of the equilibrium charge distribution of carbon and oxygen ions passed through a matter is obtained. The coefficient considering the effect of density on the charge distribution of these ions is calculated for an amorphous medium consisting of atoms with the nuclear charge Z t (Z t ≤ 54). An oscillating dependence of the average ion charge on the nuclear charge of the target atom is obtained which cannot be described by empirical relations.  相似文献

We use perturbative QCD to calculate the cross sections σLT for the diffractive production of open charm (cc) from longitudinally and transversely polarised photons (of virtuality Q2) incident at high energy (√S) on a proton target. We study both the Q 2 and M 2 dependence of the cross sections, where M is the invariant mass of the cc pair. Surprisingly, the result for σT, as well as for σL, is perturbatively stable. We estimate higher-order corrections and find a sizeable enhancement of the cross sections. The cross sections depend on the square of the gluon density g(x, K2), and we show that the observation of open charm at the HERA electron-proton collider can act as a sensitive probe of the gluon distribution for x = (Q 2 + M 2)/s and scale K2 = (M 2c + )(1 + Q 2/M 2) where the average quark transverse momentum squared 〈k 2 t ~ (M 2c . As compared to diffractive J/#x03C8; production, open charm has the advantage that it is independent of the non-perturbative ambiguities arising from the J/#x03C8; wave function. We estimate the fraction of diffractive events that arise from cc¯ production.  相似文献
