The optical energy gap of MoRe0.005Se1.995 single crystal has been measured at room temperature near the fundamental absorption method. The incident light was polarized along c‐axis of the crystals. Two and three dimensional models are adopted for generating the results. Direct as well as indirect transitions are involved in the absorption process. The indirect transition was found to be allowed with two phonons involved in the process. The three dimensional model could be used to describe the optical properties of the single crystal of MoRe0.005Se1.995. Also, the optical energy gaps depend upon the amount of the intercalating Re material, which show the anisotropy of the chemical bonds. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Energy gap of MoRe0.001Se1.999 single crystal has been determined by fundamental absorption methods. The incident light was polarized along c‐axis of the crystals. The interpretion of the data is given within frameworks of two and three dimensional models. Both direct and indirect transitions are involved in the absorption process. The indirect transition was found to be allowed with two phonons participating in the process. The three dimensional model could be used to describe the optical properties of the single crystal. The energy gaps depend upon the amount of the intercalating Re material, which show the anisotropy of the chemical bonds. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Single crystal of 2 mol% glycine doped Bis Thiourea Cadmium Chloride, a semi organic nonlinear optical material has been grown by slow evaporation technique. Good quality single crystal with dimension 14 × 12 × 5 mm3 was harvested after 35 days. The influence of amino acid glycine was studied for 1, 2 and 3 mol% glycine doped Bis Thiourea Cadmium Chloride by Kurtz and Perry powder second harmonic generation test and compared with pure Bis Thiourea Cadmium Chloride which confirms the enhancement of second harmonic generation property of glycine doped Bis Thiourea Cadmium Chloride. The large enhancement was found for 2 mol% glycine doping. The grown crystal was characterized by various characterizations viz. single crystal X‐ray diffraction, energy dispersive X‐ray (EDAX), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, UV‐visible absorption, thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). The optical properties of Tl2In2S3Se layered single crystals have been studied by means of transmission and reflection measurements in the wavelength range of 450‐1100 nm. The analysis of the absorption data revealed the presence of both optical indirect and direct transitions with energy band gaps of 2.16 and 2.42 eV, respectively. The observed coexistence of indirect and direct energy band gaps is related to the anisotropy of the Tl‐containing layered crystals. The dispersion of the refractive index is discussed in terms of the Wemple‐DiDomenico single‐effective‐oscillator model. The refractive index dispersion parameters: oscillator energy, dispersion energy, oscillator strength and zero‐frequency refractive index were found to be 4.78 eV, 43.58 eV, 13.18 × 1013 m–2 and 3.18, respectively. From X‐ray powder diffraction study, the parameters of monoclinic unit cell were determined. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The optical transmittance of LiNbO3 single crystal double doped with MgO and ZnO was measured from the ultraviolet to the visible range. The wavelength dependence of the absorption coefficient α and its root α1/2 (α versus hv and α1/2 versus hv, respectively) were calculated and the characteristics of the absorption edge were discussed. The energy gaps Eg and Eg of the crystals which correspond to the direct transition and the indirect transition, respectively, and the energy of phonons taking part in the indirect transition were calculated. The effects of dopants Mg and Zn on the optical absorption properties are discussed. It was found that the energy Eg of our sample which was double doped with MgO and ZnO was smaller than that of congruent LN, causing the indirect transition absorption edge to move towards the infrared.  相似文献

The optical absorption spectra of LiNbO3 (LN), Fe:LiNbO3 (Fe:LN), and Zn:Fe:LiNbO3 (Zn:Fe:LN) single crystals grown by Bridgman method were measured and compared. The absorption characteristics of the samples and the effects of growth process conditions on the absorption spectra were investigated. The Fe, Zn and Li concentrations in the crystals were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry. The results indicated that the overall Fe ion and Fe2+ concentration in Fe:LN and Zn:Fe:LN crystals increased along the growing direction. The incorporation of ZnO in Fe:LN crystal induced increase of Fe2+ in the crystal. Among Fe‐doped and Zn:Fe‐codoped LN single crystals, 3 mol% ZnO doped Fe:LN had a biggest change of Fe2+ ion concentration from bottom to top part of crystal. The effects of technical conditions (atmosphere and thermal history) on Fe2+ ion concentration were discussed. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Good optical quality single crystals of zinc hydrogen phosphate (ZnHPO4) having dimensions up to 8×2×2 mm3 have been grown with the aid of sodium meta silicate gel. Single crystal XRD studies confirm that the crystal belongs to the orthorhombic system with space group P212121. The functional groups present in the crystals were confirmed using FTIR technique. Optical absorbance shows very low absorption in the entire visible region. Differential thermal and thermo gravimetric analysis confirmed that the crystal is stable up to 193°C. Photoconductivity study reveals positive photoconductivity in the presence of photo active centers formed by trap energy levels. The NLO activity of the crystal was confirmed by Kurtz powder technique. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

L(+)Glutamic acid hydrochloride [HOOC (CH2)2CH(NH2) COOH·HCl], a monoamino dicarboxylic acid salt of L‐Glutamic acid was synthesized and the synthesis was confirmed by FTIR analysis. Solubility of the material in water was determined. Pure and Thiourea doped L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystals were grown by low temperature solution growth using solvent evaporation technique. XRD, UV‐Vis‐NIR analyses were carried out for both pure and thiourea doped crystals. The crystals were qualitatively analyzed by EDAX analysis and the presence of thiourea was confirmed. The cell parameters of L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride have been determined as a = 5.151 Å, b = 11.79 Å, c = 13.35 Å by X‐ray diffraction analysis and it crystallizes in orthorhombic space group P212121. UV‐Vis‐NIR spectra analysis showed good optical transmission in the entire visible region for both pure and doped crystals. Micro hardness of both pure and doped crystals has been determined using Vickers micro hardness tester. The SHG efficiencies of both pure and doped crystals were determined using Kurtz powder test and pure L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystal was found to possess better efficiency than thiourea doped L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystals. Undoped, Cr doped and Mg, Cr codoped LiNbO3 crystals were grown by conventional Czochralski technique. Comparative study was carried out using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV‐Visible spectroscopy. Infrared optical absorption for OH ion has been used to study the effect of dopants on the crystals. The peak position of OH shift to 3535 cm‐1 for Mg, Cr codoped crystals compared to 3484 cm‐1 for undoped and Cr doped crystals. Prominent absorption bands are found in the visible region centered at 480 nm (20833 cm‐1) and 653 nm (15313 cm‐1) in Cr doped crystals. Whereas in Mg, Cr codoped crystals these broad absorption bands are red shifted to 517 nm (19342 cm‐1) and 678 nm (14749 cm‐1). UV cutoff in Cr doped crystals shift towards higher wavelength compared to undoped LiNbO3 crystals. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Optical absorption along the three crystallographic axes of (NH4)2ZnCl4 single crystals is reported over a temperature range from 276 K to 350 K. Our results clearly confirm the antiferroelectric to commensurate phase transition at 319 K. Analysis reveals that at the absorption edge the type of transition is the indirect allowed one. The indirect band gaps at various temperatures are determined and their temperature dependence is estimated in the antiferroelectric and commensurate phases. Optical parameters related to the temperature dependence of the energy gap are evaluated. The single‐effective oscillator model was used to describe the imaginary part of the dielectric constant, which facilitate calculation of the dipole moment parameters. The steepness parameter is given, its value is used to estimate the temperature dependence of the indirect energy gap and the result is compared with that calculated graphically. In the region of the absorption edge, the absorption coefficient obeys Urbach's rule. Urbach characteristic parameters are determined and their temperature dependence is investigated. Correlation between different parameters is considered. Most of the results confirm the optical isotropic nature of AZC crystals. (© 2003 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Indium intercalated MoSe2 single crystals i.e. InxMoSe2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) are grown by direct vapour transport technique. These crystals are structurally characterized by X‐ray diffraction, by determining their lattice parameters ‘a’ and ‘c’ and X‐ray density. The Hall effect and thermoelectric power measurements shows that InxMoSe2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) are p‐type in nature. The direct and indirect band gap measurements are also undertaken on these semiconducting materials. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The optical properties of Tl2InGaSe4 layered single crystals have been studied through the transmission and reflection measurements in the wavelength range of 500‐1100 nm. The analysis of room temperature absorption data revealed the presence of both optical indirect and direct transitions with band gap energies of 1.86 and 2.05 eV, respectively. Transmission measurements carried out in the temperature range of 10‐300 K revealed that the rate of change of the indirect band gap with temperature is γ = – 4.4 × 10‐4 eV/K. The absolute zero value of the band gap energy was obtained as Egi(0) = 1.95 eV. The dispersion of the refractive index is discussed in terms of the single oscillator model. The refractive index dispersion parameters: oscillator wavelength and strength were found to be 2.53 × 10–7 m and 9.64 × 1013 m–2, respectively. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Perfect single crystals of cadmium oxalate trihydrate have been grown using the slow and controlled reaction between Cd+2 and (C2O4)‐2 ions in agar‐agar gel, resulting in the formation of insoluble product Cd(COO)2.3H2O. The optimum growth parameters have been determined. The variation of magnetic moment of the grown crystals under an applied static magnetic field is studied and the material is found to be diamagnetic. The polarizability is found sensitive to optical band gap. An empirical relation between magnetic susceptibility and electronic polarizability has been established. Optical absorption spectra of the sample recorded in the range 200‐2500 nm reveal transitions involving absorption and emission of phonons. The detailed study supports the existence of allowed direct and indirect allowed gaps in the material. The direct allowed transition prevails in the region of relatively higher photon energy. Some feeble disorder in the crystal is conceived to be present. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In:Zn:LiNbO3 crystals doped with different indium concentrations were grown by Czochralski technique. The optical damage threshold value and ultraviolet‐visible absorption spectra of the In:Zn:LiNbO3 crystals were measured. The In:Zn:LiNbO3 crystals were made into optical waveguide substrates using hexanedioic acid as proton exchange agent. The optical damage resistant ability of those optical waveguide substrates was investigated by the m‐line method. The optical damage threshold values of In(2mol.%):Zn(3mol.%):LiNbO3 crystal and optical waveguide substrate are two orders of magnitude higher than those of pure LiNbO3. We have studied the effect of subsequent gamma (γ) irradiation on the absorption spectra and the optical energy gap of ZnO thin films doped with Li (ZnO:Li). The optical transmission (T) and optical reflection (R) in the wavelength range 190∼800 nm of films deposited at 300 °C on sapphire, MgO or quartz substrates were measured. The dependence of the absorption coefficient α on photon energy hν was determined as a function of γ‐doses. The films show direct allowed interband transition that influenced by the gamma doses. Both the optical energy gap Eoptg and the absorption coefficient (α) were found to be γ‐dose dependent. The results can be discussed on the basis of γ‐irradiation‐induced defects in the film and on the film structure. The absorption coefficient exhibits exponential dependence on photon energy obeying Urbach's rule in the absorption edge. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal of thiourea mixed cadmium–lead chloride dihydrate Cd[(PbCl3)(NH2CSNH2)].2H2O (TCCPC) have been grown in solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The powder X‐ray diffraction pattern has been recorded and indexed. The UV‐Vis‐NIR transmittance and FT‐IR spectrum have been recorded in the range 200‐1090 nm and 400‐4000 cm‐1, respectively. The lower cut‐off wavelength is 280 nm in the UV region, which is higher than that of pure Cd(PbCl3) (CCPC) crystal. The presence of functional groups has been confirmed by FT‐IR analysis. The TCCPC crystal was characterized by SEM and EDX spectrum. The second harmonic generation (SHG) of the thiourea mixed cadmium–lead chloride (TCCPC) crystal is demonstrated by the Kurtz Perry method using Nd:YAG laser and the results confirm that the grown crystal is roughly three times more efficient than ADP. The floating zone growth of magneto‐optical crystal YFeO3 has been investigated. The polycrystalline feed rod was prepared by a pressure of 250MPa and sintering at about 1500°C. A crack‐ free YFeO3 single crystal has been successfully grown. The crystal preferred to crystallize along <100> direction with about 10° deviation. The X‐ray rocking curve of the crystal has a FWHM of 24 arcsec, confirming the high crystal quality of the sample. The (100) plane was etched by hot phosphoric acid and the dislocation density was about 104/cm2. A thin outer layer with Y2O3‐rich composition was found at the periphery of as‐grown crystals, which was attributed to the Fe2O3 evaporation during growth. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Transparent and nearly colorless ferroelectric‐ferroelastic β′‐Tb2(MoO4)3 (TMO) single crystals have been grown by the Czochralski (CZ) method. The single crystal structure was investigated by X‐ray powder diffraction and was shown to be a single phase with the structure similar as the β′‐Gd2(MoO4)3 crystal. The optical transparency of the TMO crystal has been measured and the crystal is almost transparent in the visible and near infrared regions. The defects of TMO crystal were evaluated by etching technique and the ferroelectric domain structures were observed by an optical microscope. A high‐resolution X‐ray diffraction analysis demonstrates that the as‐grown TMO crystal possesses relatively high optical quality. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Zr: LiNbO3 crystals has been grown. The crystal composition and phase are analyzed by X‐ray diffration. The optical damage resistance ability of Zr: LiNbO3 crystals is studied by the Sénarmont compensation method and the transmitted beam pattern distortion method. The saturated value of the birefringence change of 6 mol% Zr: LiNbO3 crystal is 1.01×10‐4, which is seven times smaller than that of congruent pure LiNbO3 crystal. The results of UV‐Visible and IR absorption spectra of Zr: LiNbO3 crystals powerfully confirm that the optical damage resistance threshold concentration of the Zr4+ ions doped in LiNbO3 crystals is about 6 mol% in the melt. Cadmium mercury thiocyanate (CdHg(SCN)4, CMTC) and its two lewis base adducts: cadmium mercury thiocyanate dimethyl‐sulphoxide (CdHg(SCN)4(H6C2OS)2, CMTD) and cadmium mercury thiocyanate glycol monomethyl ether (CdHg(SCN)4(C3H8O2), CMTG) have been discovered as nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal materials. Their structural, optical and physicochemical properties were characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRPD), infrared spectroscopy, vis/UV/NIR spectra and thermal analysis. It is discovered that their transparency cutoffs lie in the UV region and CMTD crystals possess the shortest cutoff wavelength among the three crystal materials.  相似文献
