On the Distribution of Integral Ideals and Hecke Gr(o)ssencharacters

The author uses analytic methods to study the distribution of integral ideals and Hecke Gr(o)ssencharacters in algebraic number fields.Nowak's results on the distribution of integral ideals,and Chandrasekharan and Good's results on the distribution of Hecke Gr(o)ssencharacters are improved.

设α＞１，ｂ＞１，（α，ｂ）＝１，ｈ（－αｂ）表虚二次域的类数。如果有正整数ｘ，ｙ，ｎ，ｋ满足（１）αｘ￣２＋ｂｙ￣２＝４ｋ￣ｎ，ｂ且；或（２）αｘ￣２＋ｂｙ￣２＝ｋ￣ｎ，ｘ｜α，ｙ｜ｂ且αｂ≡２（ｍｏｄ４），则本文证明了关于ｈ（－αｂ）的可除性的两个定理（见定理１，２），其中符号ｘ｜α表示ｘ的每一个素因子整除α。

本文证明了具有二个焦点的二次系统必在其中一个焦点外围至多有一个极限环这一猜想．从而得到具有二个焦点的二次系统之极限环必是（Ｏ,ｉ）或（１,ｉ）分布（ｉ＝ ０, １, ２,）．

Integral Closures of Cohen-Macaulay Monomial Ideals

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to present a family of Cohen-Macaulay monomial ideals such that their integral closures have embedded components and hence are not Cohen-Macaulay.

Some Results Connected with the Class Number Problem in Real Quadratic Fields

We investigate arithmetic properties of certain subsets of square-free positive integers and obtain in this way some results concerning the class number h（d） of the real quadratic field Q（√d）. In particular, we give a new proof of the result of Hasse, asserting that in this case h（d） = 1 is possible only if d is of the form p, 2q or qr. where p.q. r are primes and q≡r≡3（mod 4）.     

On a Class of Number Fields of Eisenstein Type

In this paper the author determine the factorization of p and the number of p-th subfields of the splitting field K of the irreducible binomial xp ?m(m is p-th powerfree and p | m) and obtain that all p-th subfields of K have power integral bases and the same discriminant.     

Cardinalities of Residue Fields of Noetherian Integral Domains

We determine the relationship between the cardinality of a Noetherian integral domain and the cardinality of a residue field. One consequence of the main result is that it is provable in Zermelo–Fraenkel Set Theory with Choice (ZFC) that there is a Noetherian domain of cardinality ?₁ with a finite residue field, but the statement “There is a Noetherian domain of cardinality ?₂ with a finite residue field” is equivalent to the negation of the Continuum Hypothesis.

On Real Quadratic Number Fields and Simultaneous Diophantine Approximation

 Here we provide a necessary and sufficient condition on the partial quotients of two real quadratic irrational numbers to insure that they are elements of the same quadratic number field over ℚ. Such a condition has implications to simultaneous diophantine approximation. In particular, we deduce an improvement to Dirichlet’s Theorem in this context which, as an immediate consequence, shows the Littlewood Conjecture to hold for all numbers α and β both from . On Exponential Sums Involving the Ideal Counting Function in Quadratic Number Fields

 Let χ be a Dirichlet character modulo k > 1, and F _χ(n) the arithmetical function which is generated by the product of the Riemann zeta-function and the Dirichlet L-function corresponding to χ in . In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of the exponential sums involving the arithmetical function F _χ(n). A way of finding exact explicit formulas for the number of representations of positive integers by quadratic forms in 12 variables with integral coefficients is suggested.     

On n-Absorbing Ideals of Commutative Rings

Let R be a commutative ring with 1 ≠ 0 and n a positive integer. In this article, we study two generalizations of a prime ideal. A proper ideal I of R is called an n-absorbing (resp., strongly n-absorbing) ideal if whenever x ₁…x _n+1 ∈ I for x ₁,…, x _n+1 ∈ R (resp., I ₁…I _n+1 ? I for ideals I ₁,…, I _n+1 of R), then there are n of the x _i 's (resp., n of the I _i 's) whose product is in I. We investigate n-absorbing and strongly n-absorbing ideals, and we conjecture that these two concepts are equivalent. In particular, we study the stability of n-absorbing ideals with respect to various ring-theoretic constructions and study n-absorbing ideals in several classes of commutative rings. For example, in a Noetherian ring every proper ideal is an n-absorbing ideal for some positive integer n, and in a Prüfer domain, an ideal is an n-absorbing ideal for some positive integer n if and only if it is a product of prime ideals.
