We study a GI/M/1 queue with an N threshold policy. In this system, the server stops attending the queue when the system becomes empty and resumes serving the queue when the number of customers reaches a threshold value N. Using the embeded Markov chain method, we obtain the stationary distributions of queue length and waiting time and prove the stochastic decomposition properties.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a MAP/G/1 queue with MAP arrivals of negative customers, where there are two types of service times and two classes of removal rules: the RCA and RCH, as introduced in section 2. We provide an approach for analyzing the system. This approach is based on the classical supplementary variable method, combined with the matrix-analytic method and the censoring technique. By using this approach, we are able to relate the boundary conditions of the system of differential equations to a Markov chain of GI/G/1 type or a Markov renewal process of GI/G/1 type. This leads to a solution of the boundary equations, which is crucial for solving the system of differential equations. We also provide expressions for the distributions of stationary queue length and virtual sojourn time, and the Laplace transform of the busy period. Moreover, we provide an analysis for the asymptotics of the stationary queue length of the MAP/G/1 queues with and without negative customers.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a discrete-time queue of Geo/Geo/c type with geometric repeated attempts. It is known that its continuous counterpart, namely the M/M/c queue with exponential retrials, is analytically intractable due to the spatial heterogeneity of the underlying Markov chain, caused from the retrial feature. In discrete-time, the occurrence of multiple events at each slot increases the complexity of the model and raises further computational difficulties. We propose several algorithmic procedures for the efficient computation of the main performance measures of this system. More specifically, we investigate the stationary distribution of the system state, the busy period and the waiting time. Several numerical examples illustrate the analysis.  相似文献

We consider anM/G/1 queue with FCFS queue discipline. We present asymptotic expansions for tail probabilities of the stationary waiting time when the service time distribution is longtailed and we discuss an extension of our methods to theM [x]/G/1 queue with batch arrivals.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a BMAP/G/1 retrial queue with a server subject to breakdowns and repairs, where the life time of the server is exponential and the repair time is general. We use the supplementary variable method, which combines with the matrix-analytic method and the censoring technique, to study the system. We apply the RG-factorization of a level-dependent continuous-time Markov chain of M/G/1 type to provide the stationary performance measures of the system, for example, the stationary availability, failure frequency and queue length. Furthermore, we use the RG-factorization of a level-dependent Markov renewal process of M/G/1 type to express the Laplace transform of the distribution of a first passage time such as the reliability function and the busy period.  相似文献

Motivated by queueing systems playing a key role in the performance evaluation of telecommunication networks, we analyze in this paper the stationary behavior of a fluid queue, when the instantaneous input rate is driven by a continuous-time Markov chain with finite or infinite state space. In the case of an infinite state space and for particular classes of Markov chains with a countable state space, such as quasi birth and death processes or Markov chains of the G/M/1 type, we develop an algorithm to compute the stationary probability distribution function of the buffer level in the fluid queue. This algorithm relies on simple recurrence relations satisfied by key characteristics of an auxiliary queueing system with normalized input rates.   相似文献

For the GI X /M/1 queue, it has been recently proved that there exist geometric distributions that are stochastic lower and upper bounds for the stationary distribution of the embedded Markov chain at arrival epochs. In this note we observe that this is also true for the GI X /M Y /1 queue. Moreover, we prove that the stationary distribution of its embedded Markov chain is asymptotically geometric. It is noteworthy that the asymptotic geometric parameter is the same as the geometric parameter of the upper bound. This fact justifies previous numerical findings about the quality of the bounds.  相似文献

An efficient yet accurate estimation of the tail distribution of the queue length has been considered as one of the most important issues in call admission and congestion controls in ATM networks. The arrival process in ATM networks is essentially a superposition of sources which are typically bursty and periodic either due to their origin or their periodic slot occupation after traffic shaping. In this paper, we consider a discrete-time queue where the arrival process is a superposition of general periodic Markov sources. The general periodic Markov source is rather general since it is assumed only to be irreducible, stationary and periodic. Note also that the source model can represent multiple time-scale correlations in arrivals. For this queue, we obtain upper and lower bounds for the asymptotic tail distribution of the queue length by bounding the asymptotic decay constant. The formulas can be applied to a queue having a huge number of states describing the arrival process. To show this, we consider an MPEG-like source which is a special case of general periodic Markov sources. The MPEG-like source has three time-scale correlations: peak rate, frame length and a group of pictures. We then apply our bound formulas to a queue with a superposition of MPEG-like sources, and provide some numerical examples to show the numerical feasibility of our bounds. Note that the number of states in a Markov chain describing the superposed arrival process is more than 1.4 × 1088. Even for such a queue, the numerical examples show that the order of the magnitude of the tail distribution can be readily obtained.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with the main multiserver retrial queue of M/M/c type with exponential repeated attempts. This model is known to be analytically intractable due to the spatial heterogeneity of the underlying Markov chain, caused by the retrial feature. For this reason several models have been proposed for approximating its stationary distribution, that lead to satisfactory numerical implementations. This paper extends these studies by developing efficient algorithmic procedures for calculating the busy period distribution of the main approximation models of Wilkinson [Wilkinson, R.I., 1956. Theories for toll traffic engineering in the USA, The Bell System Technical Journal 35, 421–514], Falin [Falin, G.I., 1983. Calculations of probability characteristics of a multiline system with repeated calls, Moscow University Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics 1, 43–49] and Neuts and Rao [Neuts, M.F., Rao, B.M., 1990. Numerical investigation of a multiserver retrial model, Queueing Systems 7, 169–190]. Moreover, we develop stable recursive schemes for the computation of the busy period moments. The corresponding distributions for the total number of customers served during a busy period are also studied. Several numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the methods and reveal interesting facts concerning the behavior of the M/M/c retrial queue.  相似文献

The main aim of this paper is to study the steady state behavior of an M/G/1-type retrial queue in which there are two flows of arrivals namely ingoing calls made by regular customers and outgoing calls made by the server when it is idle. We carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system, including stability condition, embedded Markov chain, steady state joint distribution of the server state and the number of customers in the orbit (i.e., the retrial group) and calculation of the first moments. We also obtain light-tailed asymptotic results for the number of customers in the orbit. We further formulate a more complicate but realistic model where the arrivals and the service time distributions are modeled in terms of the Markovian arrival process (MAP) and the phase (PH) type distribution.  相似文献

We study a GI/M/c type queueing system with vacations in which all servers take vacations together when the system becomes empty. These servers keep taking synchronous vacations until they find waiting customers in the system at a vacation completion instant. The vacation time is a phase-type (PH) distributed random variable. Using embedded Markov chain modeling and the matrix geometric solution methods, we obtain explicit expressions for the stationary probability distributions of the queue length at arrivals and the waiting time. To compare the vacation model with the classical GI/M/c queue without vacations, we prove conditional stochastic decomposition properties for the queue length and the waiting time when all servers are busy. Our model is a generalization of several previous studies.  相似文献

We study a BMAP/>SM/1 queue with batch Markov arrival process input and semi‐Markov service. Service times may depend on arrival phase states, that is, there are many types of arrivals which have different service time distributions. The service process is a heterogeneous Markov renewal process, and so our model necessarily includes known models. At first, we consider the first passage time from level {κ+1} (the set of the states that the number of customers in the system is κ+1) to level {κ} when a batch arrival occurs at time 0 and then a customer service included in that batch simultaneously starts. The service descipline is considered as a LIFO (Last‐In First‐Out) with preemption. This discipline has the fundamental role for the analysis of the first passage time. Using this first passage time distribution, the busy period length distribution can be obtained. The busy period remains unaltered in any service disciplines if they are work‐conserving. Next, we analyze the stationary workload distribution (the stationary virtual waiting time distribution). The workload as well as the busy period remain unaltered in any service disciplines if they are work‐conserving. Based on this fact, we derive the Laplace–Stieltjes transform for the stationary distribution of the actual waiting time under a FIFO discipline. In addition, we refer to the Laplace–Stieltjes transforms for the distributions of the actual waiting times of the individual types of customers. Using the relationship between the stationary waiting time distribution and the stationary distribution of the number of customers in the system at departure epochs, we derive the generating function for the stationary joint distribution of the numbers of different types of customers at departures. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This paper discusses a general bulk service queue which falls into the Markov renewal class. Applying an analysis similar to the one by Hunter (1983) for M/M1/N type of feedback queues, certain properties of discrete and continuous time queue length processe are studied here. The results and formulas are then applied to a numerical illustration.  相似文献

In this paper, we are concerned with the analytical treatment of an GI/M/1 retrial queue with constant retrial rate. Constant retrial rate is typical for some real world systems where the intensity of individual retrials is inversely proportional to the number of customers in the orbit or only one customer from the orbit is allowed to make the retrials. In our model, a customer who finds the server busy joins the queue in the orbit in accordance with the FCFS (first-come-first-out) discipline and only the oldest customer in the queue is allowed to make the repeated attempts to reach the server. A distinguishing feature of the considered system is an arbitrary distribution of inter-arrival times, while the overwhelming majority of the papers is devoted to the retrial systems with the stationary Poisson arrival process. We carry out an extensive analytical analysis of the queue in steady state using the well-known matrix analytic technique. The ergodicity condition and simple expressions for the stationary distributions of the system states at pre-arrival, post-arrival and arbitrary times are derived. The important and difficult problem of finding the stationary distribution of the sojourn time is solved in terms of the Laplace–Stieltjes transform. Little’s formula is proved. Numerical illustrations are presented.  相似文献

We analyze the so-called shortest queue first (SQF) queueing discipline whereby a unique server addresses queues in parallel by serving at any time, the queue with the smallest workload. Considering a stationary system composed of two parallel queues and assuming Poisson arrivals and general service time distributions, we first establish the functional equations satisfied by the Laplace transforms of the workloads in each queue. We further specialize these equations to the so-called “symmetric case,” with same arrival rates and identical exponential service time distributions at each queue; we then obtain a functional equation $$\begin{aligned} M(z) = q(z) \cdot M \circ h(z) + L(z) \end{aligned}$$ for unknown function M, where given functions \(q, L\) , and \(h\) are related to one branch of a cubic polynomial equation. We study the analyticity domain of function M and express it by a series expansion involving all iterates of function \(h\) . This allows us to determine empty queue probabilities along with the tail of the workload distribution in each queue. This tail appears to be identical to that of the head-of-line preemptive priority system, which is the key feature desired for the SQF discipline.  相似文献

This paper deals with the steady-state behaviour of an M/G/1 queue with an additional second phase of optional service subject to breakdowns occurring randomly at any instant while serving the customers and delayed repair. This model generalizes both the classical M/G/1 queue subject to random breakdown and delayed repair as well as M/G/1 queue with second optional service and server breakdowns. For this model, we first derive the joint distributions of state of the server and queue size, which is one of chief objectives of the paper. Secondly, we derive the probability generating function of the stationary queue size distribution at a departure epoch as a classical generalization of Pollaczek–Khinchin formula. Next, we derive Laplace Stieltjes transform of busy period distribution and waiting time distribution. Finally, we obtain some important performance measures and reliability indices of this model.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a renewal input working vacations queue with state dependent services and Bernoulli-schedule vacations. The model is analyzed with single and multiple working vacations. The server goes for exponential working vacation whenever the queue is empty and the vacation rate is state dependent. At the instant of a service completion, the vacation is interrupted and the server resumes a regular busy period with probability 1???q (if there are customers in the queue), or continues the vacation with probability q (0?≤?q?≤?1). We provide a recursive algorithm using the supplementary variable technique to numerically compute the stationary queue length distribution of the system. Finally, using some numerical results, we present the parameter effect on the various performance measures.  相似文献

We consider an M X /G/1 queueing system with two phases of heterogeneous service and Bernoulli vacation schedule which operate under a linear retrial policy. In addition, each individual customer is subject to a control admission policy upon the arrival. This model generalizes both the classical M/G/1 retrial queue with arrivals in batches and a two phase batch arrival queue with a single vacation under Bernoulli vacation schedule. We will carry out an extensive stationary analysis of the system , including existence of the stationary regime, embedded Markov chain, steady state distribution of the server state and number of customer in the retrial group, stochastic decomposition and calculation of the first moment.  相似文献
