The temperature and magnetic-field dependences of the resistivity ρ and Hall effect R(jab, Bc) in a Nd1.82Ce0.18CuO4−δ single crystal film (T c =6 K) is investigated at temperatures 1.4≤T≤20 K and magnetic fields 0≤B≤5.5 T. At the lowest temperature T=1.4 K the resistive state (exhibiting resistivity and the Hall effect) arises in a magnetic field B=0.5 T. A transition to the normal state is completed at B c 2≃3 T, where the Hall coefficient becomes nearly constant. The negative magnetoresistance due to the weak-localization effect in the normal state is observed for B>3 T. The nonmonotonic behavior and the inversion of the sign of R(B) in the mixed state are explained in a reasonable way by the flux-flow model with the effect of pinning taken into account. It is shown that d-symmetry superconductivity due to valence bond correlations is possible. Valence bond correlations are compatible with antiferromagnetic spin order. In order to explictly construct a homogeneous state with the valence bond structure in the two-dimensional Hubbard model for an arbitrary doping, we have used the variational method based on unitary local transformation. Attraction between holes in the d-channel is due to modulation of hopping by the site population in course of the valence bond formation, and corresponding parameters have been calculated variationally. An important factor for the gap width is the increase in the density of states on the Fermi level due to antiferromagnetic splitting of the band. The gap width and its ratio to the T c are 2Δ≃0.1t and 2Δ/kT c≃4.5−4 for U/t≃8. The correspondence between the theoretical phase diagram and experimental data is discussed. The dependence of T c on the doping δ=|n−1| and the Fermi surface shape are highly sensitive to the weak interaction t′ leading to diagonal hoppings. In the case of t′>0 and p-doping, the peak on the curve of T c(δ) occurs at the doping δ opt, when the energy of the flattest part of the lower Hubbard subband crosses the Fermi level at k∼(π,0). In underdoped samples with δ<δ opt, the anisotropic pseudogap in the normal state corresponds to the energy difference |E(π,0)−μ| between this part of the spectrum and the Fermi level. Zh. éksp. It is well known that the superconducting transition temperature of high-T c cuprates depends on the number of CuO2 planes in the unit cell. The multilayer structure implies the possibility of interlayer hopping. Under the assumption that the interlayer hopping can be specified by the parameter t (k) = t (cos(k x ) − cos(k y ))2, the quasiparticle excitation spectrum for the bilayer cuprate in the superconducting state has been determined in the framework of the tt′ − t″ − t J* model using the generalized mean-field approximation. It turns out that the interlayer hoppings does not create any additional mechanism of the Cooper paring and does not lead to an increase in T c . The splitting of the upper Hubbard quasiparticle band attributed to the interlayer hoppings is manifested as two peaks in the doping dependence of the superconducting transition temperature at temperatures below the maximum T c value for a single-layer cuprate. It has been found that antiferromagnetic interlayer correlations suppress the interlayer splitting. This probably leads to the common doping dependence of T c for both single-layer and bilayer cuprates.  相似文献

Electron-doped (Ba1−x La x )MnO3 compounds were prepared for x=0−0.5. Measurements of X-ray diffraction (XRD) at room temperature and temperature variation of dc electrical resistivity down to 20 K were carried out. Samples with x=0.2–0.5 exhibit metal-insulator (M-I) transition. The maximum M-I transition temperature (T c) of 289 K was observed for 30% of La doping (x=0.3). XRD patterns of these samples (x=0.2−0.5) were analyzed using Rietveld refinement. These samples are found to be mostly in single-phase form with orthorhombic symmetry (space group Pbnm). We have found strong correlation between Mn-O-Mn bond angles and T c of M-I transition. The resistivity data below T c could be fitted to the expression ρ=ρ 1+ρ 2 T 2 and this shows that double exchange interaction plays a major role even in Mn4+-rich compound. Above T c the resistivity data were fitted to variable range hopping and small polaron models.  相似文献

The preparation of (La9.33−2x/3Sr x 0.67−x/3)Si6O24O2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 2) samples with different amounts of cation vacancies is reported. Structure and unit-cell parameters were deduced by Rietveld analysis of XRD patterns. Structural features that enhance oxygen conductivity in Sr-doped apatites are discussed. Up to three components were detected in 29Si MAS-NMR spectra which change with the amount and distribution of cation vacancies. In general, oxygen conductivity increases with the amount of vacancies at La1 (6h) sites, passing through a maximum for x = 0.4. In the case of activation energy, a minimum is detected near x = 1.2, indicating that entropic and enthalpic change in different ways. The presence of cation vacancies should enhance oxygen hopping along c-axis; however, the analysis of the frequency dependence of conductivity suggests that oxygen motions are produced along three axes.  相似文献

The change of the Josephson supercurrent density j s of a weakly connected granular superconductor in response to externally applied arbitrary thermal gradient ∇T (nonlinear Seebeck effect) is considered within a model of 3D Josephson junction arrays. For ∇T>(∇T)c, where (∇T)c is estimated to be of the order of ≃104 K/m for YBCO ceramics with an average grain size d≃10 μ m, the weak-links-dominated thermopower S is predicted to become strongly ∇T-dependent. Nearly a 50% decrease of the resistivity ρ(T, x) is observed upon just 4% Cu doping at the Mn site of La2/3Ca1/3Mn1−x CuxO3. When the observed phenomenon is attributed to a decrease of the spin-polaron energy E σ(x) below T C (x), all of the data are found to be well fitted by the nonthermal coherent tunneling expression , assuming that the magnetization in the ferromagnetic state is given by the expression . The best fits through all the data points suggest and E σ(x)≃E σ(0)(1−x)4 for the explicit x dependence of the Cu-induced modifications of the Mn-spin-dominated zero-temperature spontaneous magnetization, residual paramagnetic contribution, and spin-polaron tunneling energy, respectively, with E σ(0)=0.12 eV. Approximating the shape of the magneto-thermoelectric power (TEP) ΔS(T,H) measured in Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy by an asymmetric linear triangle of the form ΔS(T,H)≃S p (HB ±(H)(T c T) with positive B (H) and B +(H) defined below and above T c , we observe that B +(H) ≃2B (H). To account for this asymmetry, we explicitly introduce the field-dependent chemical potential μ(H) of holes into the Ginzburg-Landau theory and calculate both an average ΔS av(T,H) and fluctuation contribution ΔS fl(T,H) to the total magneto-TEP ΔS(T,H). As a result, we find a rather simple relationship between the field-induced variation of the chemical potential in this material and the above-mentioned magneto-TEP data around T c , viz. Let f(ϕ) be a positive continuous function on 0 ≤ϕ≤Θ, where Θ≤ 2 π, and let ξ be the number of two-dimensional lattice points in the domain Π R (f) between the curves r=(R+c 1/R)f(ϕ) and r=(R+c 2/R)f(ϕ), where c 1<c 2 are fixed. Randomizing the function f according to a probability law P, and the parameter R according to the uniform distribution μ L on the interval [a 1 L,a 2 L], Sinai showed that the distribution of ξ under P×μ L converges to a mixture of the Poisson distributions as L→∞. Later Major showed that for P-almost all f, the distribution of ξ under μ L converges to a Poisson distribution as L→∞. In this note, we shall give shorter and more transparent proofs to these interesting theorems, at the same time extending the class of P and strengthening the statement of Sinai. The equilibrium distribution of low-concentration impurities or vacancies is investigated in the region of a coherent phase boundary or antiphase boundary in a binary alloy. A general expression for the free energy of an inhomogeneous multicomponent alloy, which generalizes the expression previously derived for a binary alloy, is presented. Explicit formulas for the impurity concentration profile c im(x) in terms of the distribution of the principal components of the alloy near a boundary are obtained from this expression in the mean-field and pair-cluster approximations. The shape of this profile is determined by a “preference potential” P, which characterizes the attraction of an impurity to one of the alloy components, as well as by the temperature T and the phase transition temperature T c. At small values of P/T impurities segregate on a phase boundary, and the degree of this segregation, i.e, the height of the maximum of c im(x), in the region of the boundary increases exponentially as the ratio T c/T increases. For P ≠ 0 the c im(x) profile near a phase boundary is asymmetric, and as P/T increases, it takes on the form of a “worn step.” The maximum on the c im(x) curve then decreases, and at a certain |P|≳T c it vanishes. Segregation on an antiphase boundary is investigated in the case of CuZn ordering in a bcc alloy. The form of c im(x) near an antiphase boundary depends significantly both on the form of the potential P and on the stoichiometry of the alloy. At small P impurities segregate on an antiphase boundary, and at fairly large P “antisegregation,” i.e., a decrease in the impurity concentration on the antiphase boundary in comparison with the value within the antiphase domains, is also possible. The positive muon spin relaxation method is applied to probe magnetic ordering in the superconducting phase of a high quality single crystal of La2−xSrxCuO4−σ (0.11≤x≤0.14). The well characterized crystal ofx=0.11 (T c=34.5 K) with nearly complete flux exclusion exhibits spin freezing at 8K(T f) with significant spin fluctuation up to 20 K. The onset of spin fluctuation andT f decrease against increasingx towardsx=0.15, suggesting an existence of a magnetic phase boundary aroundx whereT c becomes maximum.  相似文献

We have studied the temperature dependent resistivity ρ( T ) of La2-xSrxCuO4 epitaxial thin films in the doping range 0.045 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.25 in pulsed magnetic fields up to 50 T. The zero-field resistivity ρ( T ) of these samples in the pseudogap regime, can be scaled onto one single universal curve in a broad temperature range by using a linear transformation of both temperature and resistivity. The high field data ρ( T ) reveal a metal to insulator transition (MIT) at low temperatures, well into the overdoped regime. For samples having k F l < 1, with kF the Fermi wave vector and l the mean free path, this low temperature insulating behavior of the resistivity is described by the variable range hopping conductivity (VRH). For samples with k F l > 1, the divergence follows ρ( T ) ∼ ln (1/ T ) or a power law, depending upon the Sr-content. We further found that the residual conductivity at the minimum in ρ( T ), appearing due to the MIT, follows a linear behavior with respect to the Sr-content. It is argued that the unusual MIT in compounds with k F l > 1, is most probably associated with the pseudogap and the behavior of charge stripes at low temperatures. The influence of interlayer hoppings on the superconducting transition temperature (T c) in bilayer cuprates has been studied. The parameter of hopping between layers is expressed as t (k) = t (cos(k x ) − cos(k y ))2 and treated as a small perturbation for the states of two CuO2 planes described by the t-t′-t″-J* model. In the generalized mean field approximation for dx2 - y2{d_{{x^2} - {y^2}}} symmetry of the superconducting gap, neither the interlayer hopping or exchange interaction, nor the pair hopping between CuO2 layers provides an additional mechanism of Cooper pair formation or an increase in T c. In the concentration dependence of T c, the bilayer splitting of the upper Hubbard band of quasi-holes is manifested as two peaks with temperatures slightly lower than the maximum T c for a single-layer cuprate. Interlayer antiferromagnetic spin correlations suppress bilayer splitting.  相似文献

A superconducting transition in the temperature dependence of the ab-plane resistivity of underdoped YBa2Cu3O6+x crystals in the range T c≲30 K has been investigated. Unlike the case of samples with the optimal level of doping, the transition width increased insignificantly with magnetic field, and in the range T≲13 K it decreased with increasing magnetic field. The transition point T c(B) was determined by analyzing the fluctuation conductivity. The curves of B c2(T) measured in the region T/T c≳0.1 did not show a tendency to saturation and had a positive second derivative everywhere, including the immediate neighborhood of T c. The only difference among the curves of B c2(T) for different crystal states is the scales of Tand B, so they can be described in terms of a universal function, which fairly closely follows Alexandrov’s model of boson superconductivity. A scan of the superconductor-nonsuperconductor transformation in single crystals of YBa2Cu3O6+x (x≈0.37) is done in two alternative ways, namely, by applying a magnetic field and by reducing the hole concentration through oxygen rearrangement. The in-plane normal-state resistivity ρab obtained in the two cases is quite similar; its temperature dependence can be fitted by a logarithmic law in a temperature range of almost two decades. However, an alternative representation of the temperature dependence of σab=1/ ρ ab by a power law, typical for a 3D material near a metal-insulator transition, is also plausible. The vertical conductivity σc=1/ρc followed a power law, and neither σc(T), nor ρc(T) could be fitted by log T. It follows from the ρc measurements that the transformation at T=0 is split into two transitions: superconductor-normal-metal and normal-metal-insulator. For nanodimensional magnetically inhomogeneous amorphous granular films of the system (Co84Nb14Ta2) x (SiO2)100−x , 30≤x≤60 at.% the concentration dependences of the magnetooptical Kerr effect (MOKE) spectra and FMR have been investigated. The observed changes in the MOKE and FMR spectra are associated with transformations of microstructure and topology of the nanocomposites. For the compositions within the percolation region the transversal Kerr effect increases by an order of magnitude.  相似文献

A theory of the generalized conductivity for the normal component of the Hall effect is developed. It is shown that the normal Hall effect coefficient R 0 of microscopically inhomogeneous magnetic alloys GdZnxCu1−x , which at low temperatures consist of ferro-, antiferro-, and paramagnetic phases, can be described satisfactorily on the basis of an effective-medium theory. Phase transitions in solid solutions of strontium titanate with titanates of the divalent metals Pb, Ba, and Ca are considered. It is shown that the critical concentration x c in the well-known expression relating the transition temperature to the polar state in SrTiO3 with the concentration x of divalent metals, T c=A(xx c)1/2, is practically the same for all impurities. For large values of x, the ferroelectric transition temperature T c depends linearly on x. The volume and impurity contributions to the T c(x) relation are determined for this concentration range. Two-dimensional (2D) weak localization effects at low temperatures T=0.2–4.2 K are investigated in a nonsuperconducting sample Nd1.88Ce0.12CuO4−δ and in the normal state of a superconducting sample Nd1.82Ce0.18CuO4−δ for B>B c2≃3 T. The phase coherence time τφ (≃5×10−11 s at 1.9 K) and the effective thickness d of a conducting CuO2 layer (≃1.5 Å) are estimated by fitting the expressions from the 2D weak localization theory to the magnetoresistivity data for the normal-to-plane and in-plane magnetic fields. The estimated value of the parameter d ensures the condition of strong carrier confinement and justifies a model of almost decoupled 2D metallic sheets for the Nd2−x CexCuO4−δ single crystals.
