We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an exponential attractor. The condition is formulated in the context of metric spaces. It also captures the quantitative properties of the attractor, i.e., the dimension and the rate of attraction. As an application, we show that the evolution operator for the wave equation with nonlinear damping has an exponential attractor.  相似文献

Two polyester-based polymer concretes with various volume content of diabase as an extender and aggregate are tested in creep under compression at different stress levels. The phenomenological and structural approaches are both used to analyze the experimental data. Common features of changes in the instantaneous and creep compliances are clarified, and a phenomenological creep model which accounts for the changes in the instantaneous compliance and in the retardation spectrum depending on the stress level is developed. It is shown that the model can be used to describe the experimental results of stress relaxation and creep under repeated loading. Modeling of the composite structure and subsequent solution of the optimization problem confirm the possibility of the existence of an interphase layer more compliant than the binder. A direct correlation between the interphase volume content and the instantaneous compliance of the composite is revealed. It is found that the distinction in nonlinearity of the viscoelastic behavior of the two polymer concretes under investigation can be due to the difference in their porosity. The aim of this paper is to present two different approachs in order to obtain an existence result to the so-called quadrature surface free boundary problem. The first one requires the shape derivative calculus while the second one depends strongly on the compatibility condition of the Neumann problem. In this paper a new definition of a lattice valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (LIFS) is introduced, in an attempt to overcome the disadvantages of earlier definitions. Some properties of this kind of fuzzy sets and their basic operations are given. The theorem of synthesis is proved: For every two families of subsets of a set satisfying certain conditions, there is an lattice valued intuitionistic fuzzy set for which these are families of level sets. We suggest a method for selecting an L-simplex in an L-polyhedron of an n-lattice in Euclidean space. By taking into account the specific form of the condition that a simplex in the lattice is an L-simplex and by considering a simplex selected from an L-polyhedron, we present a new method for describing all types of L-polyhedra in lattices of given dimension n. We apply the method to deduce all types of L-polyhedra in n-dimensional lattices for n=2,3,4, which are already known from previous results.  相似文献

In this paper we consider duplexes, which are sets with two associative binary operations. Dimonoids in the sense of Loday are examples of duplexes. The set of all permutations carries a structure of a duplex. Our main result asserts that it is a free duplex with an explicitly described set of generators. The proof uses a construction of the free duplex with one generator by planary trees.  相似文献

A linear programming problem is transformed to the finding an element of polyhedron with the minimal norm. According to A. Cline [6], the problem is equivalent to the least squares problem on positive ortant. An orthogonal method for solving the problem is used. This method was presented earlier by the author and it is based on the highly developed least squares technique. First of all, the method is meant for solving unstable and degenerate problems. A new version of the artifical basis method (M-method) is presented. Also, the solving of linear inequality systems is considered.  相似文献

In the current work a generalization of the famous Weyl-Kodaira inversion formulas for the case of self-adjoint differential vector-operators is proved. A formula for spectral resolutions over an analytical defining set of solutions is discussed. The article is the first part of the planned two-part survey on the structural spectral theory of self-adjoint differential vector-operators in matrix Hilbert spaces. We consider an M/G/1 queue with a removable server. When a customer arrives, the workload becomes known. The cost structure consists of switching costs, running costs, and holding costs per unit time which is a nonnegative nondecreasing right-continuous function of a current workload in the system. We prove an old conjecture that D-policies are optimal for the average cost per unit time criterion. It means that for this criterion there is an optimal policy that either runs the server all the time or switches the server off when the system becomes empty and switches it on when the workload reaches or exceeds some threshold D.  相似文献

Multiplicity-free Hamiltonian group actions are the symplectic analogs of multiplicity-free representations, that is, representations in which each irreducible appears at most once. The most well-known examples are toric varieties. The purpose of this paper is to show that under certain assumptions multiplicity-free actions whose moment maps are transversal to a Cartan subalgebra are in one-to-one correspondence with a certain collection of convex polytopes. Auslander’s representation dimension measures how far a finite dimensional algebra is away from being of finite representation type. In [1], M. Auslander proved that a finite dimensional algebra A is of finite representation type if and only if the representation dimension of A is at most 2. Recently, R. Rouquier proved that there are finite dimensional algebras of an arbitrarily large finite representation dimension. One of the exciting open problems is to show that all finite dimensional algebras of tame representation type have representation dimension at most 3. We prove that this is true for all domestic weakly symmetric algebras over algebraically closed fields having simply connected Galois coverings.  相似文献

The strong global dimension of a finite dimensional algebra A is the maximum of the width of indecomposable bounded differential complexes of finite dimensional projective A-modules. We prove that the strong global dimension of a finite dimensional radical square zero algebra A over an algebraically closed field is finite if and only if A is piecewise hereditary. Moreover, we discuss results concerning the finiteness of the strong global dimension of algebras and the related problem on the density of the push-down functors associated to the canonical Galois coverings of the trivial extensions of algebras by their repetitive algebras.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that every unbounded linear operator satisfying the Korotkov-Weidmann characterization is unitarily equivalent to an integral operator in L 2(R), with a bounded and infinitely smooth Carleman kernel. In [4], a class of absolutely continuous functions of d-variables, motivated by applications to change of variables in an integral, has been introduced. The main result of this paper states that absolutely continuous functions in the sense of [4] are not stable under diffeomorphisms. In this paper, (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequences, operator frames and (p,Y)-Riesz bases for a Banach space X are introduced and discussed as generalizations of the usual concepts for a Hilbert space and of the g-frames. It is proved that the set of all (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequences for a Banach space X is a Banach space and isometrically isomorphic to the operator space B(X,p(Y)). Some necessary and sufficient conditions for a sequence of operators to be a (p,Y)-Bessel operator sequence are given. Also, a characterization of an independent (p,Y)-operator frame for X is obtained. Lastly, it is shown that an independent (p,Y)-operator frame for X is just a (p,Y)-Riesz basis for X and has a unique dual (q,Y*)-operator frame for X*.  相似文献

In this paper, a characterization for an I(L)-topological space to be generated by a given co-tower of L-topological spaces is obtained. Moreover, the relationship between some properties of an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces and the corresponding properties of the given co-tower of L-topological vector spaces is investigated. Our results show that if an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces has some properties, such as local convexity and local boundedness, then all L-topological vector spaces in the co-tower also have the same properties. But the converse is incorrect even in the case of I-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of classical topological vector spaces. Finally, we supply a necessary and sufficient condition for an I(L)-topological vector space generated by a co-tower of L-topological vector spaces with some properties, such as local convexity and local boundedness, to have such properties too.  相似文献
