In this paper, we study the existence of positive solutions for singular super-linear m-point boundary value problems of 2nth-order ordinary differential equations. We consider nonlinear boundary value problems of the type L? + N? = 0 for the existence of solutions. It is assumed that L is a 2nth-order linear differential operator in the real Hilbert space S = L2[a, b] which admits a decomposition of the form L = TT1 where T is an nth-order linear differential operator and N is a nonlinear operator defined on a subspace of S. The decomposition of L induces a natural decomposition of the generalized inverse of L. Using the method of “alternative problems,” we split the boundary value problem into an equivalent system of two equations. The theory of monotone operators and the theory of nonlinear Hammerstein equations are then utilized to consider the solvability of the equivalent system.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to generalize the theory, methods, and results for oscillation of second-order normal ordinary differential equations. This purpose is obtained by use of a theory of quadratic forms on Hilbert spaces given by Hestenes and the author.In particular, the ideas of this paper may be applied to second-order abnormal problems of differential equations, higher-order control problems, integral and partial differential equations, abstract approximation problems, and to finite dimensional approximations which lead to meaningful computer algorithms.For expository purposes some examples are included. Finally we show that specific existence and comparison theorems for the second-order case may be generalized to the 2nth-order case.  相似文献

This paper presents a numerical method for the approximate solution of mth-order linear delay difference equations with variable coefficients under the mixed conditions in terms of Laguerre polynomials. The aim of this article is to present an efficient numerical procedure for solving mth-order linear delay difference equations with variable coefficients. Our method depends mainly on a Laguerre series expansion approach. This method transforms linear delay difference equations and the given conditions into matrix equation which corresponds to a system of linear algebraic equation. The reliability and efficiency of the proposed scheme are demonstrated by some numerical experiments and performed on the computer algebraic system Maple.  相似文献

The small free vibrations of an infinite circular cylindrical shell rotating about its axis at a constant angular velocity are considered. The shell is supported on n absolutely rigid cylindrical rollers equispaced on its circle. The roller-supported shell is a model of an ore benefication centrifugal concentrator with a floating bed. The set of linear differential equations of vibrations is sought in the form of a truncated Fourier series containing N terms along the circumferential coordinate. A system of 2Nn linear homogeneous algebraic equations with 2Nn unknowns is derived for the approximate estimation of vibration frequencies and mode shapes. The frequencies ω k , k = 1, 2, …, 2Nn, are positive roots of the (2Nn)th-order algebraic equation D2) = 0, where D is the determinant of this set. It is shown that the system of 2Nn equations is equivalent to several independent systems with a smaller number of unknowns. As a consequence, the (2Nn)th-order determinant D can be written as a product of lower-order determinants. In particular, the frequencies at N = n are the roots of algebraic equations of an order is lower than 2 and can be found in an explicit form. Some frequency estimation algorithms have been developed for the case of N > n. When N increases, the number of found frequencies also grows, and the frequencies determined at N = n are refined. However, in most cases, the vibration frequencies can not be found for N > n in an explicit form.  相似文献

The real special linear group of degree n naturally acts on the vector space of n×n real symmetric matrices. How to determine invariant hyperfunction solutions of invariant linear differential equations with polynomial coefficients on the vector space of n×n real symmetric matrices is discussed in this paper. We prove that every invariant hyperfunction solution is expressed as a linear combination of Laurent expansion coefficients of the complex power of the determinant function with respect to the parameter of the power. Then the problem is reduced to the determination of Laurent expansion coefficients.  相似文献

Working in a given conformal class, we prove existence of constant Q-curvature metrics on compact manifolds of arbitrary dimension under generic assumptions. The problem is equivalent to solving a nth-order non-linear elliptic differential (or integral) equation with variational structure, where n is the dimension of the manifold. Since the corresponding Euler functional is in general unbounded from above and below, we use critical point theory, jointly with a compactness result for the above equation.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to show the existence and uniqueness of a solution for a class of 2nth-order elliptic Lidstone boundary value problems where the nonlinear functions depend on the higher-order derivatives. Sufficient conditions are given for the existence and uniqueness of a solution. It is also shown that there exist two sequences which converge monotonically from above and below, respectively, to the unique solution. The approach to the problem is by the method of upper and lower solutions together with monotone iterative technique for nonquasimonotone functions. All the results are directly applicable to 2nth-order two-point Lidstone boundary value problems.  相似文献
