We have measured the ultralow temperature and low field magnetic susceptibility of the 4/7 phase of two-dimensional 3He adsorbed on graphite preplated by one layer of 4He. The experiments are performed by progressively adding 4He to the system, thus suppressing in a controlled way the 3He atoms trapped in substrate heterogeneities. This procedure enables us to determine the intrinsic properties of this spin 1/2 model magnet in the zero field limit. The results show quantitatively that the system is strongly frustrated by multiple spin exchange interactions. A characteristic gapped spin liquid behavior is observed at ultralow temperature. 相似文献

Muon spin relaxation in solid3He depends non-monotonously on the temperature. It is shown that this is entirely due to the magnetic dipole-dipole interactions. The observed line narrowing cannot be explained by the mechanism of positive charge hopping described by an Arrhenius-like law. The relaxation rate at low temperatures was found to increase under the influence of an external electric field. 相似文献

On the example of two-dimensional (2D) 3He we demonstrate that the main universal features of its experimental temperature T-density x phase diagram [see Neumann, Nyéki, and Saunders, Science 317, 1356 (2007)10.1126/science.1143607] look like those in the heavy-fermion metals. Our comprehensive theoretical analysis of the experimental situation in 2D 3He allows us to propose a simple expression for the effective mass M*(T,x), describing all the diverse experimental facts in 2D 3He in a unified manner and demonstrating that the universal behavior of M*(T,x) coincides with that observed in heavy-fermion metals. 相似文献

We have measured spin diffusion coefficients of liquid 3He at a frequency of 920 kHz by pulsed NMR. By analyzing our data in the framework of the Leggett–Rice theory we got a spin diffusion coefficient and a Leggett–Rice parameter =λωτ simultaneously at each temperature. On approaching the superfluid transition the spin diffusion coefficients showed a deviation from predictions of the Fermi liquid theory. The deviation at low pressure was larger than that at high pressure. This anomaly may be due to the effects of fluctuations of superfluidity which were recently observed in the viscosity measurement of liquid 3He. 相似文献

3He spin diffusion measurements for 3He-4He mixture films on Nuclepore are reported as a function of 3He coverage for 0. 030=T=0.070 K. We report measurements for a constant 4He coverage of 5.0 bulk density atomic layers, with 3He coverages between 0.10 and 0.98 layers. We find that the 3He spin diffusion coefficient, as measured by Hahn spin echoes, has an unexplained maximum as a function of 3He coverage and that the temperature dependence is somewhat weaker than predicted. Comparison measurements are presented for the NMR relaxation times T1 and T2 and the magnetization over the same 3He coverage range. 相似文献

We use structural information from diffusion Monte Carlo calculations for two-dimensional 3He to calculate the effective mass. Static effective interactions are constructed from the density and spin-structure functions using sum rules. We find that both spin and density fluctuations contribute about equally to the effective mass. Our results show, in agreement with recent experiments, a flattening of the single-particle self-energy with increasing density, which eventually leads to a divergent effective mass. 相似文献

We report the first measurements of the positive-muon spin depolarization in liquid3He. The relaxation of the muon and muonium precession has been studied in transverse, longitudinal, and zero magnetic fields in the temperature range 0.5–2.5 K. The results are discussed in terms of two different depolarization mechanisms: recombinational depolarization (i.e. slow muonium formation) and magnetic relaxation due to the3He nuclear magnetic moments. 相似文献

Field-induced commensurate transverse magnetic ordering is observed in the Haldane-gap compound Ni(C(5)D(14)N(2))2N(3)(PF(6)) by means of neutron diffraction. Depending on the direction of applied field, the high-field phase is shown to be either a three-dimensional ordered Néel state or a short-range ordered state with dominant two-dimensional spin correlations. The structure of the high-field phase is determined, and properties of the observed quantum phase transition are discussed. 相似文献

The phase transitions of liquid 3He are described by truncations of an exact nonperturbative renormalization group equation. The location of the first-order transition lines and the jump in the order parameter are computed quantitatively. At the triple point we find indications of partially universal behavior. It is suggested that a coherently precessing spin structure in a normal Fermi liquid should be used to study the interface of two Fermi liquids. It is shown that the interface makes an additional contribution to the attenuation of the precessing structure. This contribution is determined by the kinetic coefficient which relates the magnetization flux across the interface to the magnetization jump at the interface. A relationship is established between this kinetic coefficient and the nature of the scattering of Fermi quasiparticles at the interface. Results of numerical calculations of the attenuation of the structure are presented for a specific object, a separated solution of 3He in 4He. 相似文献
