In a recent paper [J.L. López, Asymptotic expansions of Mellin convolution integrals, SIAM Rev. 50 (2) (2008) 275-293], we have presented a new, very general and simple method for deriving asymptotic expansions of for small x. It contains Watson’s Lemma and other classical methods, Mellin transform techniques, McClure and Wong’s distributional approach and the method of analytic continuation used in this approach as particular cases. In this paper we generalize that idea to the case of oscillatory kernels, that is, to integrals of the form , with cR, and we give a method as simple as the one given in the above cited reference for the case c=0. We show that McClure and Wong’s distributional approach for oscillatory kernels and the summability method for oscillatory integrals are particular cases of this method. Some examples are given as illustration.  相似文献

We define the Hausdorff measure of nonconvexity β(C) of a nonempty bounded subset C of a Banach space X as the Hausdorff distance of C to the family of all the nonempty convex bounded subsets of X. We compare the measure β with the Eisenfeld-Lakshmikantham measure of nonconvexity α and prove that the two measures are equivalent (βα≤2β), but in general they are different.  相似文献

Let X be a limit space, Y a topological space. We show that c(X,Y), the limitierung of continuous convergence on LIM(X,Y), is topological whenever X is basic locally compact. For regular Y, local compactness of X is sufficient. In both cases, c(X,Y) coincides with the compact-open topology. If X satisfies a certain regularity condition, the fact that c(X,Y) is topological implies, conversely, that X is (basic) locally compact.The author would like to thank S. We discuss a perturbed version of James’s sup theorem for weak compactness that not only properly generalizes that classical statement, but also some recent extensions of this central result: the sublevel sets of an extended real valued and coercive function whose subdifferential is surjective are relatively weakly compact. Furthermore, we apply it to generalize and unify some facts in mathematical finance and to prove that the unique possible framework in the development of an existence theory for a wide class of nonlinear variational problems is the reflexive one.  相似文献

We present an alternative proof of the following fact: the hyperspace of compact closed subsets of constant width in Rn is a contractible Hilbert cube manifold. The proof also works for certain subspaces of compact convex sets of constant width as well as for the pairs of compact convex sets of constant relative width. Besides, it is proved that the projection map of compact closed subsets of constant width is not 0-soft in the sense of Shchepin, in particular, is not open.  相似文献

In this work we investigate the natural algebraic structure that arises on dual spaces in the context of quantified functional analysis. We show that the category of absolutely convex modules is obtained as the category of Eilenberg-Moore algebras induced by the dualization functor [−,R] on locally convex approach spaces. We also establish a dual adjunction between the latter category and the category of seminormed spaces.  相似文献

We show that there are close relations between extremal problems in dual Brunn-Minkowski theory and isotropic-type properties for some Borel measures on the sphere. The methods we use allow us to obtain similar results in the context of Firey-Brunn-Minkowski theory. We also study reverse inequalities for dual mixed volumes which are related with classical positions, such as ?-position or isotropic position.  相似文献

The paper deals with (effective) descent morphisms for subfibrations X of the basic fibration Top/X, for topological spaces X and classes of continuous functions stable under pullback. For a category with pullbacks, we prove the stability under pullback of effective -descent morphisms for a class satisfying some suitable conditions. This plays a rôle in relating effective -descent to effective global-descent and enables us to obtain a criterion for effective étale-descent. Interest in this convergence notion originates from the seminal work of R. Wijsman, who showed in finite dimensions that the conjugate map for proper lower semicontinuous convex functions preserves convergence in this sense, where functions are identified with their epigraphs. In this paper, we review the attempts over the last 25 years to produce infinite-dimensional extensions of Wijsman's theorem, and we look closely at the topology of Wijsman convergence in an arbitrary metric space as well. Special emphasis is given to the developments of the past five years, and several new limiting counterexamples are presented.  相似文献

We present cone-separation in terms of separation by a collection of linear functionals defined on XX and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for cone-separability AA and xx. You are swimming close to an iceberg with a convex lower surface. You calculate at what slope you have to swim down so that, whatever the direction in which you swim, you can be sure that you will not collide with the iceberg. This limiting slope is intimately related to the existence of subtangents to the iceberg that satisfy various conditions. These considerations lead to generalizations of Rockafellar's Maximal Monotonicity Theorem, of which we give acomplete new proof. We also discuss related open problems on maximal monotonicity and subdifferentials, and generalizations of recent results on the existence of subtangents separating the epigraphs of proper convex lower semicontinuous functions from nonempty bounded closed convex sets, with some control over their slopes.  相似文献

A topological space X is compact iff the projection π:X×YY is closed for any space Y. Taking this as a definition and then asking that π maps α-closed subspaces of X×Y onto β-closed subspaces of Y, for different closures α and β, extends the notion of compactness to include also examples of “asymmetric compactness” pursued in the article.Categorical closure operators and a so-called “functional approach to general topology” are employed to define and prove fundamental properties of compact objects and proper maps in this generalised setting.  相似文献
