Multilayer of TiO2 and TiO2:SiO2 thin films were grown on a glass substrate by sol?Cgel processes, followed by high temperature treatment at 500?°C. The fine grained TiO2 films controlled by SiO2 dopant showed very good wear resistance and endurance life. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy was used to indicate the elements in the films. X-ray diffraction analyses indicated that TiO2 and TiO2:SiO2 film contain only anatase phase. The morphologies of the original and worn surfaces of the samples were analyzed by means of scanning tunneling microscope and scanning electron microscopy. The tribological properties of TiO2 and TiO2:SiO2 thin films sliding against AISI52100 steel pin were evaluated on a pin on disk friction and wear tester. The results showed that 25-layer TiO2:SiO2 films are superior in reducing friction and resisting wear compared with the glass substrate.  相似文献

Nano-sized noble metal nanoparticles doped dielectric composite films with large third-order nonlinear susceptibility due to the confinement and the enhancement of local field were considered to be applied for optical information processing devices, such as optical switch or all optical logical gates. In this paper, sol–gel titania thin films doped with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs, ~10 nm in average size) were prepared. AuNPs were firstly synthesized from HAuCl4 in aqueous solution at ~60 °C, using trisodium citrate as the reducing agent, polyvinylpyrrolidone as the stable agent; then the particle size and optical absorption spectra of the AuNPs in aqueous solutions were characterized by transmitting electron microscopy and UV–Vis–NIR spectrometry. Sol–gel 2AuNPs–100TiO2 (in %mol) thin films (5 layers, ~1 μm in thickness) were deposited on silica glass slides by multilayer dip-coating. After heat-treated at 300–1,000 °C in air, the AuNPs–TiO2 thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The nonlinear optical properties of the AuNPs–TiO2 thin films were measured with the Z-scan technique, using a femtosecond laser (200 fs) at the wavelength of 800 nm. The third-order nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficient of 2AuNPs–100TiO2 films were at the order of 10?12 cm2/W, and the order of 10?6 cm/W, respectively, and the third-order optical nonlinear susceptibility χ(3) was ~6.88 × 10?10 esu.  相似文献

Boron doped NiO films were prepared by sol–gel method. The effects of B content on the morphological and optical properties of NiO films were studied with atomic force microscopy, and optical characterization method. The average transmittance at the visible region is reached to 75 % for lower doped films (0.1 and 0.2 % B), whereas, the recorded average value of transmittance was about 62 % for doped film with 1 % B throughout the region. The optical energy gap value for pure NiO film was found to be 3.73 eV. These values were affected by B doping with non-monotonic variation and reached to 3.64 eV for 0.1 % B doped NiO. Also, the refractive index dispersion and dielectric constants of the NiO films were studied throughout the investigated range of wavelengths. The obtained results indicate that the optical parameters of the NiO film are controlled with boron doping.  相似文献

In this study, preparation of Sn and Nb co-doped TiO2 dip-coated thin films on glazed porcelain substrates via sol–gel process have been investigated. The effects of co-doping content on the structural, optical, and photo-catalytic properties of applied thin films have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission SEM (FE-SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. Surface chemical state of thin films was examined by atomic X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XRD results suggest that adding impurities has a great effect on the crystallinity and particle size of TiO2. Titania Rutile phase formation in thin film was promoted by Sn4+ addition but was inhibited by Nb5+ doping. The prepared co-doped TiO2 photo-catalyst films showed optical absorption edge in the visible light area and exhibited excellent photo-catalytic ability for degradation of methylene blue (MB) solution under solar irradiation. Comparison with undoped and Sn or Nb-doped TiO2, codoped TiO2 shows an obviously higher catalytic activity under solar irradiation.  相似文献

The Bi2S3 microcrystallite doped thin films and glass lumps have been successfully prepared by the sol-gel process from the hydrolysis of a complex solution of Si(OC2H5)4 Bi(NO3)3 · 5H2O and SC(NH2)2, and the size of the microcrystallites in glass heated for different times at 400°C was decided by the method of HRTEM. The optical transmission valley shifted towards longer wavelengths with longer heat-treatment time at 500°C in the Bi2S3 doped thin films, showing the experimental evidence of quantum size effects. The red-shift of emission peaks in luminenscence spectrum excited with longer wavelength is attributed to the broad distribution of particle size in Bi2S3 doped glass.  相似文献

The paper presents an improved method of depositing nanocrystalline thin films of Fe‐doped TiO2 to be used as a reusable cyclic photocatalyst for degrading the organic pollutants. The technique of electron cyclotron resonance plasma‐enhanced chemical vapor deposition was employed with titanium tetra‐isopropoxide (C12H28O4Ti) and ferrocene (C10H10Fe) as precursors of Ti and Fe, respectively. Optical emission spectroscopy was used to identify the reactive species, to determine the electron temperature and the ion density during deposition. The films were characterized using optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra, whereas the morphological analysis was carried out with scanning electron microscopy. Strong adhesion of the deposited films with the substrate ruled out any possibility of TiO2 particles being leached out. It was confirmed by observing the degradation rate of the same film repeatedly. Cyclic use of the film for the catalytic reactions thus makes the process much user friendly for the water treatment. Transparent semiconducting thin films of titanium oxide (TiO2) were deposited on glass substrates by the sol–gel method and spin-coating technique. The physical properties of the prepared films were studied as a function of the number of spun-cast layers. The microstructure and surface morphology of the TiO2 films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), with respect to the film thickness. The XRD analysis reveals that the films are polycrystalline with an anatase crystal structure and a preferred grain orientation in the (101) direction. The morphological properties were investigated by AFM, which shows a porous morphology structure for the films. The optical properties of the films were characterized by UV–Visible spectrophotometry, which shows that the films are highly transparent in the visible region and their transparency is slightly influenced by the film thickness, with an average value above 80 %. The dependence of the refractive index (n), extinction coefficient (k), and absorption coefficient (α) of the films on the wavelength was investigated. A shift in the optical band gap energy of the films from 3.75 to 3.54 eV, as a function of the film thickness, has been observed.  相似文献

Photocatalysis and hydrophilicity of doped TiO2 thin films   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7
TiO(2) thin films were prepared using the dip-coating method with a polymeric sol including additives such as Al, W, and Al+W to examine two major properties: photocatalysis and hydrophilicity. W-doped films showed the best photocatalytic efficiency, while Al-doped film was poorer than undoped samples. However, good hydrophilicity in terms of saturation contact angle and surface conversion rate was found in Al- and (Al+W)-mixed-doped films. It was found that deep electron-hole traps and high surface acidity of W-doped TiO(2) thin film were the major factors in high photocatalytic efficiency. In addition, low surface acidities of Al- and (Al+W)-doped films provided better hydrophilicity than W-doped ones. However, the amount of [Ti(3+)] point defects on the surface was another major factor, probably the most important, in getting the best hydrophilicity. Conclusively, it seemed that many parts of the photocatalysis mechanism depend more on bulk-related properties than do those of hydrophilicity, which can be defined as an interfacial (surface) or near-surface-restricted process.  相似文献

Thin films of ZnO were grown by the sol–gel method using spin-coating technique on (0001) sapphire substrates. The effect of doping after annealing on the structural and optical properties has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), cathodoluminescence (CL) spectrum, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The films that were dried at 623 K and then post annealed at 873 K showed (0002) as the predominant orientation. Two emission bands have been observed from CL spectrum. Lithium doped film shows shift in the near band edge UltraViolet emission peak and suppressed defect level emission peak in the visible range. SEM analysis of the films exhibits many spherical shaped nanoparticles. Roughness of the films determined using atomic force microscopy.   相似文献

Effect of In, Al and Sn dopants on the optical and structural properties of ZnO thin films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction technique and optical characterization method. X-ray diffraction patterns confirm that the films have polycrystalline nature. The thin films have (002) as the preferred orientation. This (002) preferred orientation is due to the minimal surface energy which the hexagonal structure, c-plane to the ZnO crystallites, corresponds to the densest packed plane. The grain size values of the films are found to be 29.0, 35.2 and 39.5 nm for In, Al and Sn doped ZnO thin films, respectively. The optical band gaps of the films were calculated. The absorption edge shifts to the lower wavelengths with In, Al and Sn dopants. The inclusion of dopant into films expands also width of localized states as E(UIn)>E(UAl)>E(USn). The refractive index dispersion curves obey the single oscillator model. The dispersion parameters and optical constants of the films were determined. These parameters changed with In, Al and Sn dopants.  相似文献

Surface photovoltage spectra (SPS) measurements of TiO2 show that a large surface state density is present on the TiO2 nanoparticles and these surface states can be efficiently decreased by sensitization using CdS nanoparticles as well as by suitable heat treatment. The photoelectrochemical behavior of the bare TiO2 thin film indicates that the mechanism of photoelectron transport is controlled by the trapping/detrapping properties of surface states within the thin films. The slow photocurrent response upon the illumination can be explained by the trap saturation effect. For a TiO2 nanoparticulate thin film sensitized using CdS nanoparticles, the slow photocurrent response disappears and the steady-state photocurrent increases drastically, which suggests that photosensitization can decrease the effect of surface states on photocurrent response. The gallium phosphide (GaP) nanoparticulate thin films were fabricated by colloidal suspensions deposition with GaP nanoparticles dispersed in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The microstructure and optical properties of the film have been studied by scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscope, and optical absorption and fluorescence spectra. The morphology of the film was found to be composed of nanoparticle aggregates, and with an irregularly rough surface. From the result of fluorescence, it can be established that the film not only retains the violet and blue light emissions which ascribed to transition from conduction band to valence band of gallium phosphide particles, but has an excellent luminescence property. The correlation between the optical properties and the microstructure of the thin film is discussed.  相似文献

TiO2 nanostructures have been treated using different kind of surfactant to modify its optical absorption and morphology. TiO2 nanostructures were prepared via simple method on indium tin oxide (ITO) surface, namely, liquid-phase deposition technique (LPD) at 50°C. The TiO2 nanostructures film with a thickness of about 236 nm was annealed at 400°C for 1 h in the air to enhance the interconnectivity of the particles. The dense and compact TiO2 nanoparticle with different shape, particle size and surface morphology was used as a photovoltaic material in a photo-electrochemical cell of ITO/TiO2/electrolyte/platinum. TiO2 nanostructure films were treated with three different kinds of surfactants: cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). It was found that the film treated with HMT performed best, with a J sc of 57.5 μA/cm2. In conclusion, optical absorption, band gap and grain size of TiO2 nanostructure influenced the performance of the cell.  相似文献

Transparent conducting undoped and tin doped ZnO multilayer films were deposited by sol-gel method. Effect of open air annealing on different parameters like grain size, carrier density, band gap, resistivity, refractive index and extinction coefficient were investigated. Films were deposited on glass and silicon substrate by keeping doping concentration 4 at%. It was observed that tin doping reduces resistivity from 194.6 Ω cm to 3.11 Ω cm. Optical transmission spectra exhibit transmittance above 88% in visible range. Maximum carrier density of 11.9 × 1018 cm−3 and band gap of 3.24 eV was estimated at 375 °C. Scanning Electron Microscopy showed homogenous worm like morphology. Atomic force microscopy revealed pyramid shaped nanostructure of tin doped ZnO.  相似文献

CeO2·TiO2 thin film is considered as an excellent candidate for a passive ion storage layer due to its good electrochemical stability and comparatively great charge capacitance. When cerium-titanium oxide thin film is adopted as an ion storage layer against cathodic tungsten oxide layer, the electrochromic device shows long term durability and cyclability. Therefore, many researchers investigated the composition and crystallinity effects to the charge density. In our study, we prepared CeO2·TiO2 thin by sol–gel dip-coating method, varying thickness by controlling withdrawal speeds. As investigating results of cyclic voltammetry and chronocoulometry, we found that there are three regions in the film thicknesses: (1) fast lithium ion diffusion region under 100 nm, (2) slow diffusion region in the range of 100 to 150 nm, and (3) fast and great charge capacitance region over 150 nm. In region 1, lithium ions diffuse very fast and reach into indium-tin oxide (ITO) layers, and slow diffusion region follows in region 2, probably due to the remains or impurities within the film, and in region 3, lithium ion diffusion gets fast again, accompanied with charge capacitance increase with thickness.  相似文献

A modified sol–gel method was used to prepare cobalt doped silica thin film with a cobalt content of 10, 20 and 30 mol% (10Co, 20Co and 30Co). The prepared films were annealed at different temperatures in the range 400–1,000 °C, and their structural evolution examined. The mixed valence cobalt oxide, Co3O4, crystallizes only in the sample with the higher cobalt content, while cobalt silicate is the only crystalline phase detected in the sample 10Co and 20Co. Both the cobalt content and the temperature of heat treatment resulted to affect the nature of cobalt species dispersed in the silica matrix. The 30Co was selected for further investigations by FTIR spectroscopy to follow the structural evolution of 30Co film as function of the temperature and UV–Vis to get information on the cobalt valence state. The optical gas-sensing properties of 30Co films, containing Co3O4 as the major cobalt phase, were studied through the measuring of the film transmittance in dry air and in presence of dry air containing variable concentrations of polluting gases, CO and NO2. The 30Co samples resulted to be highly sensitive to CO at room temperature. An explanation for the CO sensing characteristics, at low temperature, was proposed by referring to the physisorption-related mechanics of CO.  相似文献

PTA (peroxo titanic acid) gel was prepared by a modified sol-gel method from peroxo titanic acid using TiCl4/ethanol/water solution as the starting material at room temperature. Physicochemical properties of heat-treated gel were characterized by IR, XRD, TG-DTA and SEM. Optimal preparing conditions were chosen to prepare anatase film for the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange. The dip-coating technique was used to synthesis the supported anatase film on quartz glass. Photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of methyl orange under UV irradiation was also examined. It was found that the degradation efficiency of the anatase film synthesized in this paper is higher than commercial titania P25.  相似文献

Adsorption and solar light decomposition of acetone was studied on nanostructured anatase TiO2 and Nb-doped TiO2 films made by sol-gel methods (10 and 20 mol % NbO2.5). A detailed characterization of the film materials show that films contain only nanoparticles with the anatase modification with pentavalent Nb oxide dissolved into the anatase structure, which is interpreted as formation of substituted Nb=O clusters in the anatase lattice. The Nb-doped films displayed a slight yellow color and an enhanced the visible light absorption with a red-shift of the optical absorption edge from 394 nm for the pure TiO2 film to 411 nm for 20 mol % NbO2.5. In-situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) transmission spectroscopy shows that acetone adsorbs associatively with eta1-coordination to the surface cations on all films. On Nb-doped TiO2 films, the carbonyl bonding to the surface is stabilized, which is evidenced by a lowering of the nu(C=O) frequency by about 20 cm(-1) to 1672 cm(-1). Upon solar light illumination acetone is readily decomposed on TiO2, and stable surface coordinated intermediates are formed. The decomposition rate is an order of magnitude smaller on the Nb-doped films despite an enhanced visible light absorption in these materials. The quantum yield is determined to be 0.053, 0.004 and 0.002 for the pure, 10% Nb:TiO2, and 20%Nb:TiO2, respectively. Using an interplay between FTIR and DFT calculations we show that the key surface intermediates are bidentate bridged formate and carbonate, and H-bonded bicarbonate, respectively, whose concentration on the surface can be correlated with their heats of formation and bond strength to coordinatively unsaturated surface Ti and Nb atoms at the surface. The oxidation rate of these intermediates is substantially slower than the initial acetone decomposition rate, and limits the total oxidation rate at t>7 min on TiO2, while no decrease of the rate is observed on the Nb-doped films. The rate of degradation of key surface intermediates is different on pure TiO2 and Nb-doped TiO2, but cannot explain the overall lower total oxidation rate for the Nb-doped films. Instead the inferior photocatalytic activity in Nb-doped TiO2 is attributed to an enhanced electron-hole pair recombination rate due to Nb=O cluster and cation vacancy formation.  相似文献
