利用离子交换技术制成了单模和多模掺CdSxSe1-x半导体玻璃波导。通过对波导参数的测量得出这种波导的折射率剖面满足费米函数分布。同时,对这种K+—Na+离子交换技术得到的单模波导在0.5145μm波长下输入—输出功率的测量,观测到它的功率限制作用。并得到在Ar+激光0.5145μm波长下吸收系敲是4cm-1。在这篇文章中,我们对波导的光功率限制起源于热效应进行了分析和讨论。  相似文献

A review is presented on some of our recent results for designs, simulations and fabrication of several photonic integrated devices, such as arrayed-waveguide gratings (AWGs) and etched diffraction gratings (EDGs), based on planar waveguide technologies. Maximising the optical power collected in a waveguide from the diffracting field of a semiconductor laser is desirable in optical fibre communication systems. However, the spot size and phase front curvature of the laser field usually makes a poor overlap with the mode of the receiving waveguide. Various proposals have been made to improve this coupling. This paper presents the design of a tapered waveguide section, having the correct geometry and refractive index profile, to efficiently capture and transform the rapidly diffracting light from a semiconductor laser to a planar wavefront in a straight waveguide. Experimentally, such an approach requires the refining of available techniques (UV exposure, ion implantation or diffusion) to obtain the required grading of the refractive index profile within the tapered input section of the receiving waveguide.  相似文献

A semiconductor interband laser based on an unstrained one or multiple quantum well nanoheterostructure and generating a mainly TM-polarized radiation is suggested. The latter feature is ensured by a planar waveguide with a special design, in which, due to the plasmon effect, the absorption of TM modes is smaller than that of TE ones. Via developing a two-dimensional distributed Bragg feedback concept such a device can be employed for the creation of powerful sources of monochromatic near-infrared radiation with high-quality output beams formed by a small number of or even only one lateral mode.  相似文献

The work elucidates some model details of x‐ray flux waveguide resonance propagation through a planar, narrow, extended slit. The phenomenological substantiation of the correctness of the introduction of the waveguide resonance model is confirmed on the basis of the concept of flux spatial coherence. The peculiarities of the model realization in various designs of planar x‐ray waveguide resonators (PXWR) are discussed. The main fields of practical application of PXWRs are characterized by experimental results. Nanophotonics perspectives using waveguide resonance structures are outlined. 根据强非局域介质构成的平面介质波导中同频率和同极化的多光束共同传输模型方程,求得了任意斜入射多光束相互作用的精确解析解。基于强非局域介质空间双光孤子的相互作用原理,提出了利用全同孤子作为信号光来实现全光互联,但实现的逻辑也仅仅局限于短距离作用,还对全光开关抑或反相器作了详细叙述,通过实例给出了这类设计的优化方案。  相似文献

We study experimentally the snake instability of the bright soliton stripe of the (2+1)-dimensional hyperbolic nonlinear Schr?dinger equation. We demonstrate theoretically that a polymer layer, when used as cladding layer for silica-based planar optical waveguides on a silicon substrate, can substantially reduce birefringence. Multilayer planar optical waveguides usually exhibit stresses that are caused by thermal-induced strains that originate from the bonding of the layers, in addition to intrinsic strains. Effect of various intrinsic properties on thermal stress as a function of thickness of the guiding layer is studied. It is shown that it is possible to achieve the thermal stress free and, hence, the stress-induced birefringence free waveguide devices by proper waveguide designs.  相似文献

We propose a plasmonic waveguide with semiconductor gain material for optoelectronic integrated circuits. We analyze properties of a finite-thickness metal–semiconductor–metal (F-MSM) waveguide to be utilized as an ultra-compact and fast plasmonic modulator. The InP-based semiconductor core allows electrical control of signal propagation. By pumping the core we can vary the gain level and thus the transmittance of the whole system. The study of the device was made using both analytical approaches for planar two-dimensional case as well as numerical simulations for finite-width waveguides. We analyze the eigenmodes of the F-MSM waveguide, propagation constant, confinement factor, Purcell factor, absorption coefficient, and extinction ratio of the structure. We show that using thin metal layers instead of thick ones we can obtain higher extinction ratio of the device.  相似文献

Frequency tunable semiconductor laser has potential applications in resonator integrated optic gyro (RIOG) for its small size and easy to be integrated. An alternative construction of frequency tunable semiconductor laser with planar waveguide external cavity is proposed in this paper. The frequency tuning section, which is placed between the active section and Bragg grating section, is designed to be one part of the waveguide external cavity. The slab etched grating, based on the silicon-on-isolator ridge waveguide, is adopted to narrow the width of reflectivity spectrum. After the theoretical analysis and simulations, the frequency modulation coefficient of 2.1 MHz/mA is obtained, and the power change is less than 3.6 × 10−4 dB/1.6 GHz. The proposed configuration combines the advantages of wavelength tunable laser and external cavity laser, and it can realize precision frequency tuning, ignored power fluctuation and narrow linewidth, which contribute much to RIOG.  相似文献

In this work, we use the finite-difference time-domain method in conjunction with a genetic algorithm to design photonic crystal power beam splitters based upon a typical planar photonic crystal waveguide with corrugated surfaces or gratinglike surfaces covered behind the termination. Considering a power detector placed at different locations in the output field, we have obtained several beam splitters designs with different splitting angles. These beam splitters have high splitting efficiency and power intensity in the propagation direction.  相似文献

A theory of self-induced transparency for a TM-mode propagating in a planar semiconductor waveguide sandwiched between two dielectric media is developed. A transition layer between the waveguide and one of the connected media is described using a model of a two-dimensional sheet of quantum dots. Explicit analytical expressions for the optical soliton in the presence of single-excitonic and biexcitonic transitions are obtained with realistic parameters which can be reached in current experiments.  相似文献

报道了一种基于多模干涉(MMI)耦合器的马赫曾德尔干涉仪(MZI)型2×2集成热光开关的实验研究结果,插损为3.40 dB,偏振相关损耗为0.47 dB,直通和交叉状态消光比分别为32.01 dB和16.42 dB,响应时间小于3 ms,开关功耗为658 mW。针对直通和交叉状态消光比不对称的现象,从理论上做出了解释,因为半导体平面光波电路(PLC)工艺一致性较好,两个多模干涉耦合器的分光比虽然因工艺误差偏离50∶50,但误差量相近,这个特点对光开关直通和交叉状态的消光比产生了不同影响。分析了在波导上制作加热电极对波导有效折射率的影响,估算其增量在2×10-4量级。  相似文献

Instability of traveling IR waves within a waveguide structure is discussed. A practical model of a traveling wave amplifier of a solid state is proposed, utilizing an optical waveguide. The mechanism of instability is interpreted in terms of an interaction between a plasmon wave and a circuit one under a constraining boundary condition. Properties of the traveling amplification and related problems are discussed, with appropriately suggested semiconductor materials and device designs. The features of the amplifier are a simple structure, a low DC biasing power dissipation for room-temperature operation, unidirectionality, and a wide wavelength range from IR or submillimeter order, suited to various applications.  相似文献

A fiber-to-waveguide coupler is proposed to efficiently couple light from a single-mode fiber into a submicrometer semiconductor waveguide for integration with optoelectronic circuits. A microring with a specific refractive index is designed on the top of the semiconductor waveguide. The gradual vertical leakage from the microring forms steady coupling into the semiconductor waveguide. Coupling efficiency up to 93% is demonstrated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method. A tapered-waveguide or microring structure can be used to convert the lateral-mode size for coupling light into a single-mode semiconductor waveguide.  相似文献

为实现红外光谱仪器的小型化,通过分析现有小型光谱仪,提出了一种基于平板波导的小型红外光栅光谱仪的设计方法。平板波导光谱仪的小型化原理与一般的微小型光谱仪不同。在平板波导光谱仪中,光束被限制在一层薄薄的平板波导介质中传播,看起来像是整个光学系统被压扁了。在垂直于平板波导的方向上光学元件的尺寸可以做到很小,从而显著减小光学系统的尺寸。该系统的设计可分为Czerny-Turner结构设计、波导结构设计。先根据像差理论设计Czerny-Turner结构,目标是保证光谱分辨率及校正像差;然后根据几何光学理论设计波导结构,包括平板波导和两个柱面透镜,目标是压缩光束并校正像散;最后将它们输入Zemax软件中进行综合优化,以获得最优的光学系统。据此方法设计了一个平板波导红外光栅光谱仪,工作波段为8~12 μm,数值孔径为0.22,采用线阵探测器。通过Zemax软件对结果进行分析和评价,表明仪器光学系统的尺寸为130 mm×125 mm×20 mm,工作波段内光谱分辨率达到80 nm,满足设计指标要求。证明了该优化设计方法是可行的,所得系统尺寸小、性能高。  相似文献

We propose a low-loss metal/dielectric waveguide for compact planar lightwave circuit. The basic waveguide structure is a metal-defined high-index-contrast strip waveguide based on silicon/silica. As the guide is designed for TE single mode waveguiding, extremely low propagation loss (e.g. <0.04 dB/cm), very low bend loss (e.g. 0.0043 dB/90°-turn) and small waveguide pitch of zero-crosstalk are theoretically achievable, and can be further improved by compromising with component size and density. Examples of multi-bends and device integration are demonstrated with numerical simulations. The proposal is compatible with silicon technology and appealing for development of silicon-based planar lightwave circuit.  相似文献
