We construct a class of self-similar 2d incompressible Euler solutions that have initial vorticity of mixed sign. The boundaries between regions of positive and negative vorticity form algebraic spirals, similar to the Kaden spiral and as opposed to Prandtl’s logarithmic vortex spirals. Also unlike the Prandtl case, spirals are not initially present.  相似文献

We study the formation of multi-armed spirals and multi-pairs antispirals in spatial rock–paper–scissors games with mobile individuals. We discover a set of seed distributions of species, which is able to produce multi-armed spirals and multi-pairs antispirals with a finite number of arms and pairs based on stochastic processes. The joint spiral waves are also predicted by a theoretical model based on partial differential equations associated with specific initial conditions. The spatial entropy of patterns is introduced to differentiate the multi-armed spirals and multi-pairs antispirals. For the given mobility, the spatial entropy of multi-armed spirals is higher than that of single armed spirals. The stability of the waves is explored with respect to individual mobility. Particularly, we find that both two armed spirals and one pair antispirals transform to the single armed spirals. Furthermore, multi-armed spirals and multi-pairs antispirals are relatively stable for intermediate mobility. The joint spirals with lower numbers of arms and pairs are relatively more stable than those with higher numbers of arms and pairs. In addition, comparing to large amount of previous work, we employ the no flux boundary conditions which enables quantitative studies of pattern formation and stability in the system of stochastic interactions in the absence of excitable media.  相似文献

We present an experimental study of the motion of a viscoelastic micellar fluid around a moving cylinder, which ranges from fluidlike flow to solidlike tearing and fracture, depending on the cylinder radius and velocity. The observation of crack propagation driven by the cylinder indicates an extremely low tear strength, approximately equal to the steady state surface tension of the fluid. At the highest speeds a driven crack is observed in front of the cylinder, propagating with a fluctuating speed equal on average to the cylinder speed, here as low as 5% of the elastic wave speed.  相似文献

采用Purwins的三变量模型, 在二维空间对气体放电系统中多臂螺旋波的形成和转化进行了数值研究. 通过分析方程参数对系统空间的影响, 确定了系统获得稳定螺旋波的参数空间; 得到了斑图由简单静态六边形到螺旋波的演化过程, 分析了螺旋波的形成机制和时空特性; 进一步获得六种不同臂数的多臂螺旋波斑图(例如: 双臂、三臂、四臂、五臂、六臂和七臂螺旋波). 结果表明: 螺旋波斑图出现在图灵-霍普夫(Turing-Hopf)空间, 是Turing模和Hopf模相互竞争、相互作用的结果; 不同臂数的螺旋波波头均在持续地旋转运动, 其运动速度随螺旋波臂数的增加而增大; 随着螺旋波臂数的增加, 其波头的运动形式愈加复杂; 由于受微扰及边界条件的影响, 多臂螺旋波可以向臂数少一的螺旋波发生转变, 数值模拟结果与实验结果符合较好. 关键词: 螺旋波 数值模拟 气体放电  相似文献

In this study, the principal feature is the use of a potential plane and possible exact solutions on this plane. Effects of time-periodic coupling strength (TPCS) on spiral waves dynamics are studied by numerical computations and mathematical analyses. We find that meandering or drifting spirals waves, which are not observed for the case of constant coupling strength, can be induced by TPCS. In particular, a transition between outward petal and inward petal meandering spirals is observed when the period of TPCS is varied. These two types of meandering spirals are separated by a drifting spiral, which can be induced by TPCS when the period of TPCS is very close to that of rigidly rotating spiral. Similar results can be obtained if the coupling strength is modulated by a rectangle wave. Furthermore, a kinetic model for spiral movement suggested by Di et al., [Phys. Rev. E 85 (2012) 046216] is applied for explaining the above findings. The theoretical results are in good qualitative agreement with numerical simulations.  相似文献

We study the spatiotemporal dynamics of a crack front propagating at the interface between a rigid substrate and an elastomer. We first characterize the kinematics of the front when the substrate is homogeneous and find that the equation of motion is intrinsically nonlinear. We then pattern the substrate with a single defect. Steady profiles of the front are well described by a standard linear theory with nonlocal elasticity, except for large slopes of the front. In contrast, this theory seems to fail in dynamical situations, i.e., when the front relaxes to its steady shape, or when the front pinches off after detachment from a defect. More generally, these results may impact the current understanding of crack fronts in heterogeneous media.  相似文献

We use molecular dynamics simulations to calculate the phonon energy emitted during rapid crack propagation in brittle crystals. We show that this energy is different for different crack planes and propagation directions and that it is responsible for various phenomena at several length scales: energetically preferred crack systems and crack deflection at the atomic scale, reduced maximum crack speed with volume at the micrometer scale, and the inability of a crack to attain the theoretical limiting speed at the macroscale. We propose to include the contribution of this energy in the Freund equation of motion of a dynamically propagating crack.  相似文献

在非均匀可激发介质中,采用Barkley模型数值模拟了稀螺旋波和密螺旋波, 并对二者的动力学行为随参数的变化进行了研究. 结果发现:稀螺旋波的旋转频率随参数b的增加迅速减小,之后趋于饱和, 显示出不同于密螺旋波的行为;两种螺旋波的周期和波长随参数ε 和非均匀区域尺寸R的增加而增加,相对稀螺旋波而言,密螺旋波的性质对R的依赖更为敏感; 稀螺旋波端点的波速随R的增加而减小,与密螺旋波波速变化趋势相反. 另外,由于非均匀区域的影响,当ε 或b 超过某一临界值时,螺旋波臂上出现缺陷点.  相似文献

以复金兹堡一朗道方程为模型,利用数值实验方法观察了时空系统中螺旋波斑图的演化行为,发现在局域非均匀参数条件下,系统的螺旋波可以受到该杂质区域的影响而演化成为稳定的靶波.研究表明,内传的螺旋波转换为稳定靶波的必要条件是非杂质系统和杂质系统的振荡频率相等且小于系统的固有频率,并在参数一频率空间形成一个特殊的V形区域,进一步分析表明,该V形区域具有左右对称、两侧靶波传播方向相反以及随杂质区域参数α_2的增大而向参数β_2减小方向平移等性质.  相似文献

We investigate a reaction-diffusion model in which a Turing pattern develops and reproduces the formation of periodic segments behind a propagating chemical wave front. The chemical scheme involves two species known as activator and inhibitor. The model can be used to mimic the formation of prevertebrae during the early development of vertebrate embryo. Deterministic and stochastic analyses of the reaction-diffusion processes are performed for two typical sets of parameter values, far from and close to the Turing bifurcation. The effects of a local source or sink of inhibitor on the growing structure are studied and successfully compared with experiments performed on chick embryos. We show that fluctuations may lead to the formation of additional prevertebra.  相似文献

The resonance mechanism for the formation of galactic spirals is considered. Expressions are derived for the resonance responses of disks with circular and nearly circular stellar orbits. The spiral responses produced by the central oval-shaped structures (bars) available in many galaxies are shown to have the characteristic properties of the spirals observed in these galaxies. In the most interesting case of a quasi-steady state, the spiral responses possess a similarity property: the spiral thickness and inclination are proportional to the mean size of an epicycle (an analog of the Larmor circle in plasma).  相似文献

通过准连续介质方法模拟了纳米多晶体Ni中裂纹的扩展过程.模拟结果显示:裂纹尖端的应力场可以导致晶界分解、层错和变形孪晶的形成等塑性形变,在距离裂纹尖端越远的位置,变形孪晶越少,在裂纹尖端附近相同距离处,层错要远多于变形孪晶.这反映了局部应力的变化以及广义平面层错能对变形孪晶的影响.计算了裂纹尖端附近区域原子级局部静水应力的分布.计算结果表明:裂纹前端晶界处容易产生细微空洞,这些空洞附近为张应力集中区,并可能促使裂纹沿着晶界扩展.模拟结果定性地反映了纳米多晶体Ni中的裂纹扩展过程,并与相关实验结果符合得很好  相似文献

We propose a model of a spinless electrical charge as a self-consistent field configuration of the electromagnetic (EM) field interacting with a physical vacuum effectively described by the logarithmic quantum Bose liquid. We show that, in contrast to the EM field propagating in a trivial vacuum, a regular solution does exist, and both its mass and spatial extent emerge naturally from dynamics. It is demonstrated that the charge and energy density distribution acquire Gaussian-like form. The solution in the logarithmic model is stable and energetically favourable, unlike that obtained in a model with a quartic (Higgs-like) potential.  相似文献

Feedback control of spiral waves by the phases of the spiral tip is investigated experimentally in a light-sensitive Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction. The phases of rotation (Psi(r)) and meandering (Psi(m)) of the spiral tip are obtained in real time during experiments. It is found that, for both meandering and rigid rotating spirals, one can manipulate the spirals to move with any arbitrary paths by the feedback signals derived from Psi(r). Synchronization between meandering and rotation dynamics can be induced when both Psi(m) and Psi(r) are used simultaneously as control signals. Experimental findings are compared well with numerical simulations of the Oregonator model.  相似文献

‘Cut-offs’ were introduced to model front propagation in reaction–diffusion systems in which the reaction is effectively deactivated at points where the concentration lies below some threshold. In this article, we investigate the effects of a cut-off on fronts propagating into metastable states in a class of bistable scalar equations. We apply the method of geometric desingularization from dynamical systems theory to calculate explicitly the change in front propagation speed that is induced by the cut-off. We prove that the asymptotics of this correction scales with fractional powers of the cut-off parameter, and we identify the source of these exponents, thus explaining the structure of the resulting expansion. In particular, we show geometrically that the speed of bistable fronts increases in the presence of a cut-off, in agreement with results obtained previously via a variational principle. We first discuss the classical Nagumo equation as a prototypical example of bistable front propagation. Then, we present corresponding results for the (equivalent) cut-off Schlögl equation. Finally, we extend our analysis to a general family of reaction–diffusion equations that support bistable fronts, and we show that knowledge of an explicit front solution to the associated problem without cut-off is necessary for the correction induced by the cut-off to be computable in closed form.  相似文献

Convection in chemical fronts enhances the speed and determines the curvature of the front. Convection is due to density gradients across the front. Fronts propagating in narrow vertical tubes do not exhibit convection, while convection develops in tubes of larger diameter. The transition to convection is determined not only by the tube diameter, but also by the type of chemical reaction. We determine the transition to convection for chemical fronts with quadratic and cubic autocatalysis. We show that quadratic fronts are more stable to convection than cubic fronts. We compare these results to a thin front approximation based on an eikonal relation. In contrast to the thin front approximation, reaction-diffusion models show a transition to convection that depends on the ratio between the kinematic viscosity and the molecular diffusivity. A molecular-dynamics model for crack propagation under steady-state conditions is used to study dynamic instabilities along a grain boundary in aluminum that occur when the crack speed approaches 1/3 of the material's Rayleigh wave speed. Instead of crack branching, as is characteristic for a crack propagating in a homogeneous environment, the instability of an intergranular crack results in a periodic series of dislocation bursts. These bursts limit the crack speed and produce velocity oscillations with a large increase in energy dissipation that increases the grain boundary toughness.  相似文献
