We consider a class of random lattice operators including Schrödinger operators of the formH=–+w+gv, wherew(x) is a real-valued periodic function,g is a positive constant, andv(x),x d , are independent, identically distributed real random variables. The n Baxter model is an exactly solvable lattice model in the special case of the Belavin parametrization. For this parametrization we calculate the partition function,, in an antiferromagnetic region and the order parameter in a ferromagnetic region. We find that the order parameter is expressible in terms of a modular function of leveln which forn = 2 is the Onsager-Yang-Baxter result. In addition we determine the symmetry group of the finite lattice partition function for the general n Baxter model.  相似文献

An extensive quantity is a family of functions v of random parameters, indexed by the finite regionsV (subsets of d) over which v are additive up to corrections satisfying the boundary estimate stated below. It is shown that unless the randomness is nonessential, in the sense that lim v/|V| has a unique value in the absolute (i.e., not just probabilistic) sense, the variance of such a quantity grows as the volume ofV. Of particular interest is the free energy of a system with random couplings; for such v bounds are derived also for the generating functionE(e t ). In a separate application, variance bounds are used for an inequality concerning the characteristic exponents of directed polymers in a random environment.  相似文献

The initial stages of phase separation are studied for a model binary alloy (AB) with pairwise interactions AA , AB , BB between nearest neighbors, assuming that there is no direct interchange of neighboring atoms possible, but only an indirect one mediated by vacancies (V) occurring in the system at a concentrationc v and which are strictly conserved, as are the concentrationsc A andc B of the two species.A-atoms may jump to vacant sites with jump rate A , B-atoms with jump rate B (in the absence of interactions). Particular attention is paid to the question to what extent nonuniform distribution of vacancies affects the unmixing kinetics. Our study focuses on the special case A = B on a square lattice, considering three different choices of interactions with the same = AB – ( AA + BB )/2: (i) AB =, AA = BB = 0; (ii) AA = 0, AA = BB ; = ; (iii) AB = BB = 0, AA = –2. We obtain both the time evolution of the structure factorS(k,t) following a quench from infinite temperature to the considered temperature, and the timedependence of the mean cluster size and the various neighborhood probabilities of a vacancy. While in case (i) forc V 0.16 the distribution of vacancies in the system stays nearly random, in case (ii) the vacancies cluster in theA-B interfacial region, and in case (iii) they get nearly completely expelled from theA-rich regions. While phase separation proceeds in case (i) only slightly faster than in case (ii), a significant slowing down of the relaxation is observed for case (iii), which shows up in a strong reduction of the effective exponents describing the growth.  相似文献

A note on the theory of the successive production of moving striations in the plasma of inert gases
Approximate expressions are derived on the basis of Pekárek's theoretical paper [1] for the period of the maximum tB of a wave packet produced by the passage of a wave of stratification before the aperture of a photomultiplier, and for its time width in the half-height tB. The relaxation time of a wave of stratification, following from the theory [1], can thus be calculated by means of the experimentally measured velocity of motion of the maximum of a wave packet u and its width tB. The calculation is supplemented by numerical data on the magnitude of errors committed by using approximate expressions.

We reduce Ferretti-Rajeev models to the usual sigma models with Chern-Simons terms (-terms), and show that whether is quantized or not corresponds to the fact 4(G j,n )3(U(j))= or 0 of the topology in the process of our reduction. The k theory is compared with the multilinear theory of scalar fields 1, 2, ..., k having the same mass as that of . In particular, it is shown that Feynman integrals encountered in the 3 theory are not necessarily present also in the 1 2 3 theory, but they are if they correspond to planar Feynman graphs having no tadpole part. Furthermore, a necessary and sufficient condition for the presence of a 3 Feynman integral in the 1 2 2 theory is found. Those considerations are applications of graph theory, especially of the coloring problem of graphs, to Feynman graphs.  相似文献

A lattice gas on 3 consisting of hard spheres with exclusions extending through third neighbors is proved to undergo a percolation transition. If spins with ferromagnetic couplings are attached to the spheres, spontaneous magnetization is proved to occur. This may provide a model for a ferrofluid, a system which exhibits spontaneous magnetization without crystalline order. Similar results are also obtained for an analogous model on 2.  相似文献

Within the framework of the conditions ; » –1 ( –1 is the mean time of momentum relaxation), the coefficient of absorption () of a weak electromagnetic wave by the free carriers of a polar semiconductor is calculated in the presence of a strong wave (of frequency ), for arbitrary values of and . Photon absorption by band electrons is due to these latter interacting with optical phonons (of frequency o). The problem is solved by using an analogous approach to the theory of the linear Kubo reaction. The results are valid in the absence of electron heating, when a strong wave only influences the scattering probability. The appearance of a photostimulated tail of absorption is predicted for < o, including the jump () for ( – o + ) 0T as well as peaks in the function () at the points s=s (s=1, 2, 3,...). Various intersection probabilities of independent random walks ind dimensions are calculated analytically by a direct renormalization method, adapted from polymer physics. This heuristic approach, based on Edwards' continuum model, leads to a straightforward derivation and also to refinements of Lawler's results for the simultaneous intersections of two walks in 4, or three walks in 3. These results are generalized toP walks in d *, ,P2. Ford<4, an infinite set of universal critical exponents L ,L1, are derived. They govern the asymptotic probability thatL star walks in d , with a common origin, do not intersect before timeS. The L 's are calculated up to orderO(2), whered=4–. This information is used to calculate the probability that a set of independent random walks in d or d ,d4, (respectivelyd3) form a given topological networks of multiple intersection points, in the absence of any other double point (respectively triple point). This is generalized to a network in dimension with exclusion ofP-tuple points. The method is quite general and can be used to calculate any critical intersection probability, and provides the probabilist with a large variety of exact results (yet to be proven rigorously).  相似文献

A polymer chain with attractive and repulsive forces between the building blocks is modeled by attaching a weight e for every self-intersection and e /(2d) for every self-contact to the probability of an n-step simple random walk on d , where , >0 are parameters. It is known that for d=1 and > the chain collapses down to finitely many sites, while for d=1 and < it spreads out ballistically. Here we study for d=1 the critical case = corresponding to the collapse transition and show that the end-to-end distance runs on the scale n = (log n)–1/4. We describe the asymptotic shape of the accordingly scaled local times in terms of an explicit variational formula and prove that the scaled polymer chain occupies a region of size n times a constant. Moreover, we derive the asymptotics of the partition function.  相似文献

Consider the massless free field on thed-dimensional lattice d ,d3; that is the centered Gaussian field on with covariances given by the Green function of the simple random walk on d . We show that the probability, that all the spins are positive in a box of volumeN d , decays exponentially at a rate of orderN d–2 logN and compute explicitly the corresponding constant in terms of the capacity of the unit cube.
