There are large to superlarge magnesite and talc deposits occurring in Mg-rich carbonate formations distributed in the early Proterozoic Dashiqiao Formation in eastern Liaoning Province, China. The discovery of the sedimentary gypsum, isotopic geochemistry of δ18Osmow, δ13CPDB, δ34SVCDT and Sr/Ba ratio of carbonate, talc, quartz and gypsums with field investigation and sample analysis in laboratory demonstrate that the formation of magnesite and talc deposits is closely related to marine evaporates, which then underwent reworking of regional metamorphism and hydrothermal metasomatism. Metasomatic fluids originating from the paleoseawater played a controlling role in the formation of talc deposits.

Talc is determined by infrared spectrometry in talc ore and mineral mixtures containing clinochlore chlorite, dolomite and magnesite as major minerals. When the Si-O-Si vibration at 668 cm?1 is used, the calibration graph is linear up to about 0.5 mg of talc. Band overlap from chlorite is corrected by using the ratio of absorbances at 668 and 3620 cm?1. Talc (?15%) in talc/carbonate/chlorite mixtures and ore was determined with relatively good precision and accuracy (recovery 91.2–97.4%). The sample sizes were 0.5–1 mg for 40–60% talc and 0.5–1.5 mg for 7.5–15% talc. The recoveries were worse (84.0–94.6%) for < 15% talc. The precision for unknown samples of talc ore varied from 1.5 to 4.0% (n=4).  相似文献

In geologic carbon sequestration, whereas part of the injected carbon dioxide will dissolve into host brine, some will remain as neat to water saturated supercritical CO(2) (scCO(2)) near the well bore and at the caprock, especially in the short term life cycle of the sequestration site. Little is known about the reactivity of minerals with scCO(2) containing variable concentrations of water. In this study, we used high-pressure infrared spectroscopy to examine the carbonation of brucite (Mg(OH)(2)) in situ over a 24 h reaction period with scCO(2) containing water concentrations between 0% and 100% saturation, at temperatures of 35, 50, and 70 °C, and at a pressure of 100 bar. Little or no detectable carbonation was observed when brucite was reacted with neat scCO(2). Higher water concentrations and higher temperatures led to greater brucite carbonation rates and larger extents of conversion to magnesium carbonate products. The only observed carbonation product at 35 °C was nesquehonite (MgCO(3)·3H(2)O). Mixtures of nesquehonite and magnesite (MgCO(3)) were detected at 50 °C, but magnesite was more prevalent with increasing water concentration. Both an amorphous hydrated magnesium carbonate solid and magnesite were detected at 70 °C, but magnesite predominated with increasing water concentration. The identity of the magnesium carbonate products appears strongly linked to magnesium water exchange kinetics through temperature and water availability effects.  相似文献

It was found that introduction of polyhexamethylguanidines modified with carboxy and phosphonic groups into a saturated solution of calcium carbonate affects the formation rate, morphology, and phase composition of the deposits being formed, with crystals in the deposit becoming coarser and rhombic structures appearing. These phenomena were manifested to a greater extent when zinc complexes of polyelectrolytes are present in solution. An analysis of the phase composition of the deposit demonstrated that the presence of polyelectrolytes and their zinc complexes in solution leads to an increase in the amount of the calcite phase. The reason why the phase composition and morphology of the deposits changes is that polyelectrolytes and their complexes are adsorbed on the surface of carbonate deposits. The adsorption of polyelectrolytes on a calcium carbonate powder is described by the Langmuir isotherm and the formation of their zinc complexes leads to an increase in the adsorption equilibrium constant by more than a factor of 2, which is due to the change in the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of macromolecules in complexation.  相似文献

Colloidal wood resin components present in pulp are collectively called "pitch". The presence of pitch may cause severe problems due to deposits in and on the paper machine. There is thus a need for controlling pitch aggregation and adsorption. To be able to develop more efficient pitch control systems, one needs to develop the understanding of pitch-pitch interactions and of the interactions between pitch and other materials. With this general goal in mind, we present methods for preparing geometrically well-defined pitch particles attached to atomic force microscopy tips. This has enabled us to investigate the interactions between pitch and talc, an additive commonly used for pitch control. We have used model pitch particles consisting of one component only (abietic acid), a mixture of components (collophonium), and particles prepared from real pitch deposits. We show that the forces acting between pitch and talc are attractive and, once the initial approach is made, exert this attraction out to large distances of separation. We present evidence that the formation of bridging air bubbles or cavities is responsible for this interaction.  相似文献

Addition of Ammonium Polyphosphate/Polyamide-6 system is known to provide flame retardancy in many polymers blends via an intumescent process. Particulate fillers (talc and calcium carbonate) are used in large quantities in PP. Combination of fillers in PP can modify the properties of the polymeric matrix. This study investigates the effect of fillers (talc and calcium carbonate) on the fire performance of the Polypropylene/Ammonium polyphosphate/Polyamide-6 blend. It is shown that the fire performance strongly depends on the nature of the filler used. Talc increases and calcium carbonate decreases in the fire performance of the blend.  相似文献

Potentiometric titration measurements as well as rheological measurements of talc aqueous suspensions indicate that the behavior of the New York talc particles is consistent with the presence of a negative charge on their basal planes. The possibility of the presence of a negative electrical charge on the basal planes of talc particles is analyzed in this paper. Samples of New York talc were studied using electron microprobe analysis and dehydration techniques and the exact chemical formula of New York talc was determined. It was found that there exists a deficiency of protons in the tetrahedral layers of talc, resulting from substitution of Si(4+) ions with Al(3+) and Ti(3+) ions. The comparison of the level of substitution of Si(4+) ions with ions of a lower valency was found to be of a similar order of magnitude as that found in other talc deposits. This strongly points to the presence of a negative charge on the talc basal planes.  相似文献

The calcium carbonate crystallization from aqueous solutions in the presence of alkali additives such as sodium hydroxide and ammonium hydroxide has been researched. It is found CaCO3 crystallizes predominantly in the modification of aragonite in the presence of ammonium hydroxide. The calcium carbonate formation rate in an alkaline medium and the gaseous reaction products due to sorption of gas bubbles on crystal surfaces, affect the aragonite structure formation. It is shown use of ammonium hydroxide for water treatment can solve two urgent tasks such as water softening and exclusion sediment of deposits on the equipment surfaces by a calcium carbonate crystallization in the form of aragonite.  相似文献

Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) with damping monitoring is applied for real-time analysis of solid−electrolyte interphase (SEI) formation in diphenyl octyl phosphate (DPOP) and vinylene carbonate (VC) modified electrolytes. Fast SEI formation is observed for the DPOP containing electrolyte, whereas slow growth is detected in VC-modified and reference electrolytes. QCM measurements in a dry state show considerable reduction of the mass quantity for DPOP and reference samples and minor mass decrease for the SEI layer formed in the presence of VC. The results indicate that VC enhances SEI stability, whereas the addition of DPOP or no additive results in incorporation of loosely attached species, leadubg to SEI instability. Resonance frequency damping, Δw, and dissipation factor, D, are used for analyzing mechanical properties of the SEI layers. The apparent increase of Δw and D during SEI formation in presence of DPOP suggests a pronounced viscoelasticity of the layer. QCM results are compared with surface morphology and chemical composition, revealing excellent agreement of the applied characterization approaches.  相似文献

The effect that a high amount of mineral filler might have on the extraction process of antioxidants from polyethylene and polypropylene was investigated. Extraction of Irganox 1010, Irganox 1076 and Irgafos 168, along with its oxidation product 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol, from freeze ground polyethylene–based (PE–based) and polypropylene–based (PP–based) mineral concentrates of 85 w/w calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and 75 w/w talc was carried out by pressurized fluid extraction (PLE) prior to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Results indicate that 85 w/w CaCO3 did not affect the extraction process from PE or PP. For talc concentrates, additive recovery from PE and PP was considerably lower. The relation of recovery yield and mixing time was investigated for the talc concentrates and it was concluded that the presence of talc seemed to accelerate the rate of antioxidant consumption during sample processing, thus, less antioxidant was left to be extracted from the polyolefin; rather than talc has limited the extraction process. The method developed in this work has been applied to determine these compounds in several commercial samples.  相似文献

Microbiologically induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) is a well-known biogeochemical process that allows the formation of calcium carbonate deposits in the extracellular environment. The high concentration of carbonate and calcium ions on the bacterial surface, which serves as nucleation sites, promotes the calcium carbonate precipitation filling and binding deteriorated materials. Historic buildings and artwork, especially those present in open sites, are susceptible to enhanced weathering resulting from environmental agents, interaction with physical-chemical pollutants, and living organisms, among others. In this work, some published variations of a novel and ecological surface treatment of heritage structures based on MICP are presented and compared. This method has shown to be successful as a restoration, consolidation, and conservation tool for improvement of mechanical properties and prevention of unwanted gas and fluid migration from historical materials. The treatment has revealed best results on porous media matrixes; nevertheless, it can also be applied on soil, marble, concrete, clay, rocks, and limestone. MICP is proposed as a potentially safe and powerful procedure for efficient conservation of worldwide heritage structures.  相似文献

Summary Since the application of the isotope geochemical method to obtain information on the formation mechanism of magnesite deposits was considered promising, we have developed a method to prepare carbon dioxide from magnesite samples for oxygen and carbon isotope analyses, using phosphoric acid reaction at an elevated temperature of 95° C. Data showing the reproducibility of the method (better than ±0.2 for both carbon and oxygen) are presented. The oxygen isotope fractionation factor between the evolved CO2 and magnesite at 95° C is 1.0080.

Zusammenfassung Mit dem Ziel, durch isotopen-geochemische Untersuchungen den Bildungsmechanismus von Magnesitablagerungen aufzuklären, wurde ein Verfahren zur Freisetzung von Kohlendioxid aus den Magnesitproben zur O- und C-Isotopenanalyse ausgearbeitet. Dazu dient die Reaktion mit Phosphorsäure bei 95° C. Die Reproduzierbarkeit ist besser als ±0,2 für beide Elemente. Der Fraktionierungsfaktor für das Sauerstoffisotop zwischen CO2 und Magnesit bei 95° C beträgt 1,0080.

采用共沉淀法合成水滑石,等体积浸渍法将碳酸钾负载于水滑石孔道及层状结构中;在一定空速条件下,考察了吸附温度、碳酸钾添加量、活化温度对碳酸钾修饰水滑石吸附二氧化碳性能的影响;利用SEM、BET等手段对修饰后的水滑石进行了表征。在一定实验条件下,水滑石吸附容量可以达到9.10mol/kg。  相似文献

The blends of EVA filled with talc, calcium carbonate, and glass ball (GB) have been photocrosslinked by UV irradiation in the presence of benzophenone (BP) as a photoinitiator and triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) as a crosslinker. The various factors affecting the crosslinking process and the related properties have been studied by gel determination, heat extension test, mechanical and thermal aging test, UV spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the EVA/talc, EVA/CaCO3, and EVA/GB samples of 1 mm thickness filled with 25 phr inorganic filler can be photocrosslinked to gel content of above 70 wt% by 5 sec UV‐irradiation under optimum conditions, which is sufficient for some applications of EVA blend materials. The crosslinking rate and final gel content level are in the order of EVA/GB > EVA/talc > EVA/CaCO3. The data from mechanical and thermal aging tests give evidence that the photocrosslinked EVA/talc, EVA/CaCO3, and EVA/GB samples are of much better tensile strength and thermal aging properties than those of the unphotocrosslinked ones. The precursors of carbonate minerals have the potential to react with greenhouse gases to form many common carbonate minerals. The carbonate bearing minerals, magnesite, calcite, strontianite and witherite, were synthesised and analysed using a combination of thermogravimetry and evolved gas mass spectrometry. The DTG curves show that as both the mass and the size of the metal cationic radii increase, the inherent thermal stability of the carbonate also increases dramatically. It is proposed that this inherent effect is a size stabilisation relationship between that of the carbonate and the metal cation. As the cationic radius increases in size, the radius approaches and in the case of Sr2+ and Ba2+ exceeds that of the overall size of the carbonate anion. The thermal stability of these minerals has implications for the geosequestration of greenhouse gases. The carbonates with the larger cations show significantly greater stability.  相似文献

Adsorption of Ga on calcite, magnesite, amorphous silica, and manganese oxide as a function of pH and gallium concentration in solution was studied using a batch adsorption technique. Adsorbed complexes of Ga on calcite, magnesite, and delta-MnO2 were further characterized using XAFS spectroscopy. At high surface loadings from supersaturated solutions, Ga is likely to form a polymeric network at the surface (edge- and corner-sharing octahedra). At low surface loadings, Ga presents as isolated octahedra, probably attached to the Me-O sites on the surface, and coordinated by water molecules and hydroxide groups at 1.90-1.94 A. At pH>6, Ga therefore changes its coordination from 4 to 6 when adsorbing from solution (Ga(OH)(-)4(aq)) onto metal surface sites (MeOGa(OH)n(H2O)2-n(5-n), Me = Ca, Mg, or Mn, and n=1 and 2 for carbonate minerals and MnO2, respectively). Because the EXAFS is not capable of seeing hydrogen atoms, the protonation of surface complexes was determined by fitting the experimental pH-dependent Ga adsorption edge. A surface complexation model which assumes the constant capacitance of the electric double layer (CCM) and postulates the formation of positively charged, neutral and negatively charged surface complexes for carbonates, manganese oxide and silica, respectively, was used to describe the dependence of adsorption equilibria on aqueous solution composition in a wide range of pH and Ga concentration.  相似文献

高能量密度二次电池的商业化将会推动便携式电子设备和电动车的飞速发展。锂金属电池因具有较高的理论能量密度而受到研究者的广泛关注。然而,锂金属负极较低的库仑效率(CE)和枝晶生长等问题,严重制约了锂金属电池的发展。库仑效率是衡量电池体系可逆性的关键参数之一,锂金属负极的库仑效率在不同电解液中存在较大的差异,本文以四种常见的电解液为例,包括1 mol·L-1六氟磷酸锂-碳酸乙烯酯/碳酸二甲酯电解液,1 mol·L-1六氟磷酸锂-碳酸乙烯酯/碳酸二甲酯+5%(w)氟代碳酸乙烯酯电解液,1 mol·L-1双(三氟甲烷磺酰)亚胺锂-乙二醇二甲醚/1,3二氧戊环+2%(w)硝酸锂电解液,以及4 mol·L-1双氟磺酰亚胺锂-乙二醇二甲醚电解液,利用原子力显微镜研究了不同电解液体系中锂金属的生长行为,探讨了锂金属沉积形貌与其库仑效率之间的联系,为发展高效的锂金属负极提供了参考依据。  相似文献

<正>Photoinitiated crosslinking of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer(EPDM) blends filled with calcium carbonate, talc and calcined kaolin(CK) in the presence of benzil dimethyl ketal as photoinitiator and trimethylolpropane triacrylate as crosslinker and their related properties have been studied by different analytical methods.The results from gel content and heat extension determination show that the efficiency of photocrosslinking of EPDM increases with increasing the content of diene and its molecular weight.The EPDM blends with 100 phr different inorganic fillers can be photocrosslinked to gel content of above 60%by 5 s UV-irradiation under optimum conditions.Under the same conditions of irradiation,the orders of photocrosslinking rate and final gel content are EPDM/CaCO_3EPDM/talcEPDM/CK.The data from thermogravimetric analysis,dynamic mechanical thermal analysis,electrical properties,mechanical tests and scanning electron microscopy show that UV irradiation crosslinking apparently enhances the thermal stability,mechanical properties and electrical properties of the photocrosslinked EPDM/inorganic filler samples.Although the attenuated total-reflection FTIR data show that inorganic fillers can promote the surface photo-oxidation of EPDM/inorganic filler samples with increasing the irradiation time,the above related properties of the photocrosslinked EPDM blends irradiated within 5 s are enough to satisfy many applications in the cable industry.  相似文献
