Conditions are found for the existence of integral invariants of Hamiltonian systems. For two-degrees-of-freedom systems these conditions are intimately related to the existence of nontrivial symmetry fields and multivalued integrals. Any integral invariant of a geodesic flow on an analytic surface of genus greater than 1 is shown to be a constant multiple of the Poincaré-Cartan invariant. Poincaré's conjecture that there are no additional integral invariants in the restricted three-body problem is proved. It is proved that geodesic balls in a Riemannian symmetric space of rank one arestable solutions to a free-boundary problem for the Laplace-Beltrami operator with constant Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions. This result supports Schiffer's conjecture that balls are the only solutions to the problem. The main ingredient of the proof is a characterization of geodesic balls by the multiplicity of eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. We consider discrete-time nonlinear controlled stochastic systems, modeled by controlled Makov chains with denumerable state space and compact action space. The corresponding stochastic control problem of maximizing average rewards in the long-run is studied. Departing from the most common position which usesexpected values of rewards, we focus on a sample path analysis of the stream of states/rewards. We discuss a nonindependent (beam) splitting for which the related thinning leaves the class of equilibrium states for a one mode electromagnetic field invariant. The thinning affects only the parameters of the state, showing a nonlinear loss of energy. After the splitting, the energy values of both split parts are independent. This independence is a characteristic property of the geometric distribution, the distribution of energy values in the equilibrium state. We investigate a generalization of width in the sense of Kolmogorov suitable for estimating bestm-term approximations. We generalize Carl's inequality which gives lower estimate of Kolmogorov widths in terms of entropy numbers. We consider dynamical systems with two degrees of freedom whose configuration space is a torus and which admit first integrals polynomial in velocity. We obtain constructive criteria for the existence of conditional linear and quadratic integrals on the two-dimensional torus. A boundary value problem for a second-order nonlinear singularly perturbed differential equation is considered for the case in which there is variation of stability caused by the intersection of roots of the degenerate equation. In the paper, we consider applications of strictly pseudoconvex domains to the problems of algebraicity and rationality. We give a new proof of the Kodaira theorem on the algebraicity of a surface and we also prove a multidimensional version of this theorem. Theorems analogous to the Hodge index theorem and the Lefschetz theorem about (1, 1)-classes are obtained for strictly pseudoconvex domains. By variational methods, for a kind of Yamabe problem whose scalar curvature vanishes in the unit ball BN and on the boundary S^N-1 the mean curvature is prescribed, we construct multi-peak solutions whose maxima are located on the boundary as the parameter tends to 0^+ under certain assumptions.
