Summary Letx 1,...,x n be independent random variables with uniform distribution over [0, 1] d , andX( n ) be the centered and normalized empirical process associated tox 1,...,x n . Given a Vapnik-Chervonenkis classL of bounded functions from [0, 1] d intoR of bounded variation, we apply the one-dimensional dyadic scheme of Komlós, Major and Tusnády to get the best possible rate in Dudley's uniform central limit theorem for the empirical process {E (n)(h):hL}. WhenL fulfills some extra condition, we prove there exists some sequenceB n of Brownian bridges indexed byL such that whereK (L) denotes the maximal variation of the elements ofL. This result is then applied to maximal deviations distributions for kernel density estimators under minimal assumptions on the sequence of bandwith parameters. We also derive some results concerning strong approximations for empirical processes indexed by classes of sets with uniformly small perimeter. For example, it follows from Beck's paper that the above result is optimal, up to a possible factor , whenL is the class of Euclidean balls with radius less thanr.  相似文献

In this paper, we estimate the rest of the approximation of a stationary process by a martingale in terms of the projections of partial sums. Then, based on this estimate, we obtain almost sure approximation of partial sums by a martingale with stationary differences. The results are exploited to further investigate the central limit theorem and its invariance principle started at a point, the almost sure central limit theorem, as well as the law of the iterated logarithm via almost sure approximation with a Brownian motion, improving the results available in the literature. The conditions are well suited for a variety of examples; they are easy to verify, for instance, for linear processes and functions of Bernoulli shifts.  相似文献

Motivated by problems in functional data analysis, in this paper we prove the weak convergence of normalized partial sums of dependent random functions exhibiting a Bernoulli shift structure.  相似文献

A new class of stochastic processes, called processes of positive bivariate type, is defined. Such a process is typically one whose bivariate density functions are positive definite, at least for pairs of time points which are sufficiently mutually close. The class includes stationary Gaussian processes and stationary reversible Markov processes, and is closed under the operations of composition and convolution. The purpose of this work is to show that the local times of such processes can be investigated in a natural way. One of the main contributions is an orthogonal expansion of the local time which is new even in the well-studied stationary Gaussian case. The basic tool in its construction is the Lancaster-Sarmanov expansion of a bivariate density in a series of canonical correlations and canonical variables.  相似文献

For a suitable definition of the local time of a random walk strong invariance principles are proved, saying that this local time is like that of a Wiener process. Consequences of these results are LIL statements for the local time of a general enough class of random walks. One of the tools for our proofs is a discrete version of the Tanaka formula.  相似文献

Summary. We prove almost sure convergence of a representation of normalized partial sum processes of a sequence of i.i.d. random variables from the domain of attraction of an α-stable law, α<2. We obtain an explicit form of the limit in terms of the LePage series representation of stable laws. One consequence of these results is a conditional invariance principle having applications to option pricing as well as to resampling by signs and permutations. For , we consider Lft, the local time of space-time Brownian motion on the curve f. Let be the class of all functions whose Hölder norm of order α is less than or equal to 1. We show that the supremum of Lf1 over f in is finite if α>1/2 and infinite if α<1/2.  相似文献

Given a finite collection of continuous semimartingales, we derive a semimartingale decomposition of the corresponding ranked (order-statistics) processes. We apply the decomposition to extend the theory of equity portfolios generated by ranked market weights to the case where the stock values admit triple points.  相似文献

Summary We study an invariance principle for additive functionals of nonsymmetric Markov processes with singular mean forward velocities. We generalize results of Kipnis and Varadhan [KV] and De Masi et al. [De] in two directions: Markov processes are non-symmetric, and mean forward velocities are distributions. We study continuous time Markov processes. We use our result to homogenize non-symmetric reflecting diffusions in random domains.  相似文献

Consider a sequence of i.i.d. random variables. Associate to each X i (0) an independent mean-one Poisson clock. Every time a clock rings replace that X-variable by an independent copy and restart the clock. In this way, we obtain i.i.d. stationary processes {X i (t)} t ≥0 (i=1,2,···) whose invariant distribution is the law ν of X 1(0). Benjamini et al. (2003) introduced the dynamical walk S n (t)=X 1(t)+···+X n (t), and proved among other things that the LIL holds for nS n (t) for all t. In other words, the LIL is dynamically stable. Subsequently (2004b), we showed that in the case that the X i (0)'s are standard normal, the classical integral test is not dynamically stable. Presently, we study the set of times t when nS n (t) exceeds a given envelope infinitely often. Our analysis is made possible thanks to a connection to the Kolmogorov ɛ-entropy. When used in conjunction with the invariance principle of this paper, this connection has other interesting by-products some of which we relate. We prove also that the infinite-dimensional process converges weakly in to the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process in For this we assume only that the increments have mean zero and variance one. In addition, we extend a result of Benjamini et al. (2003) by proving that if the X i (0)'s are lattice, mean-zero variance-one, and possess (2+ɛ) finite absolute moments for some ɛ>0, then the recurrence of the origin is dynamically stable. To prove this we derive a gambler's ruin estimate that is valid for all lattice random walks that have mean zero and finite variance. We believe the latter may be of independent interest. In this paper we show that the local time of the Brownian motion belongs to the Sobolev space for any p2 and 0<<1/p. In order to prove this result we first discuss the smoothness and integrability properties of the composition of the Dirac function with a Wiener integral W(h), and we show that this composition belongs to , for any >0 and p>1 such that +1/p>1.  相似文献

We consider the simple random walk on random graphs generated by discrete point processes. This random walk moves on graphs whose vertex set is a random subset of a cubic lattice and whose edges are lines between any consecutive vertices on lines parallel to each coordinate axis. Under the assumption that the discrete point processes are finitely dependent and stationary, we prove that the quenched invariance principle holds, i.e., for almost every configuration of the point process, the path distribution of the walk converges weakly to that of a Brownian motion.  相似文献

Let ξ (n, x) be the local time at x for a recurrent one-dimensional random walk in random environment after n steps, and consider the maximum ξ*(n) = max x ξ(n, x). It is known that lim sup is a positive constant a.s. We prove that lim inf is a positive constant a.s. this answers a question of P. Révész [5]. The proof is based on an analysis of the valleys in the environment, defined as the potential wells of record depth. In particular, we show that almost surely, at any time n large enough, the random walker has spent almost all of its lifetime in the two deepest valleys of the environment it has encountered. We also prove a uniform exponential tail bound for the ratio of the expected total occupation time of a valley and the expected local time at its bottom.  相似文献

For one-dimensional diffusion processes, we find an explicit necessary and sufficient condition for the large deviation principle of the occupation measures in the total variation and of local times in L1L1.  相似文献
