A proper edge-k-coloring of a graph G is a mapping from E(G) to {1, 2,..., k} such that no two adjacent edges receive the same color. A proper edge-k-coloring of G is called neighbor sum distinguishing if for each edge uv ∈ E(G), the sum of colors taken on the edges incident to u is different from the sum of colors taken on the edges incident to v. Let χ_Σ'(G) denote the smallest value k in such a coloring of G. This parameter makes sense for graphs containing no isolated edges(we call such graphs normal). The maximum average degree mad(G) of G is the maximum of the average degrees of its non-empty subgraphs. In this paper, we prove that if G is a normal subcubic graph with mad(G) 5/2,then χ_Σ'(G) ≤ 5. We also prove that if G is a normal subcubic graph with at least two 2-vertices, 6 colors are enough for a neighbor sum distinguishing edge coloring of G, which holds for the list version as well.  相似文献

Let ?: E(G) → {1, 2, · · ·, k} be an edge coloring of a graph G. A proper edge-k-coloring of G is called neighbor sum distinguishing if \(\sum\limits_{e \mathrel\backepsilon u} {\phi \left( e \right)} \ne \sum\limits_{e \mathrel\backepsilon v} {\phi \left( e \right)} \) for each edge uvE(G). The smallest value k for which G has such a coloring is denoted by χΣ(G), which makes sense for graphs containing no isolated edge (we call such graphs normal). It was conjectured by Flandrin et al. that χΣ(G) ≤ Δ(G) + 2 for all normal graphs, except for C5. Let mad(G) = \(\max \left\{ {\frac{{2\left| {E\left( h \right)} \right|}}{{\left| {V\left( H \right)} \right|}}|H \subseteq G} \right\}\) be the maximum average degree of G. In this paper, we prove that if G is a normal graph with Δ(G) ≥ 5 and mad(G) < 3 ? \(\frac{2}{{\Delta \left( G \right)}}\), then χΣ(G) ≤ Δ(G) + 1. This improves the previous results and the bound Δ(G) + 1 is sharp.  相似文献

Graph coloring is an important tool in the study of optimization, computer science, network design,e.g.,file transferring in a computer network, pattern matching, computation of Hessians matrix and so on.In this paper,we consider one important coloring, vertex coloring of a total graph, which is also called total coloring. We consider a planar graph G with maximum degree Δ(G)≥8,and proved that if G contains no adjacent i,j-cycles with two chords for some i,j∈{5,6,7},then G is total-(Δ+1)-colorable.  相似文献

Let G be a graph and let its maximum degree and maximum average degree be denoted by Δ(G) and mad(G), respectively. A neighbor sum distinguishing k-edge colorings of graph G is a proper k-edge coloring of graph G such that, for any edge uvE(G), the sum of colors assigned on incident edges of u is different from the sum of colors assigned on incident edges of v. The smallest value of k in such a coloring of G is denoted by χ(G). Flandrin et al. proposed the following conjecture that χ (G) ≤ Δ(G) + 2 for any connected graph with at least 3 vertices and GC5. In this paper, we prove that the conjecture holds for a normal graph with mad(G) < \(\tfrac{{37}}{{12}}\) and Δ(G) ≥ 7.  相似文献

While solving a question on the list coloring of planar graphs, Dvo?ák and Postle introduced the new notion of DP-coloring (they called it correspondence coloring). A DP-coloring of a graph G reduces the problem of finding a coloring of G from a given list L to the problem of finding a “large” independent set in the auxiliary graph H(G,L) with vertex set {(v, c): vV (G) and cL(v)}. It is similar to the old reduction by Plesnevi? and Vizing of the k-coloring problem to the problem of finding an independent set of size |V(G)| in the Cartesian product GK k, but DP-coloring seems more promising and useful than the Plesnevi?–Vizing reduction. Some properties of the DP-chromatic number χ DP (G) resemble the properties of the list chromatic number χ l (G) but some differ quite a lot. It is always the case that χ DP (G) ≥ χ l (G). The goal of this note is to introduce DP-colorings for multigraphs and to prove for them an analog of the result of Borodin and Erd?s–Rubin–Taylor characterizing the multigraphs that do not admit DP-colorings from some DP-degree-lists. This characterization yields an analog of Gallai’s Theorem on the minimum number of edges in n-vertex graphs critical with respect to DP-coloring.  相似文献

An r-acyclic edge chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by a r r(G), is the minimum number of colors used to produce an edge coloring of the graph such that adjacent edges receive different colors and every cycle C has at least min {|C|, r} colors. We prove that a r r(G) ≤ (4r + 1)Δ(G), when the girth of the graph G equals to max{50, Δ(G)} and 4 ≤ r ≤ 7. If we relax the restriction of the girth to max {220, Δ(G)}, the upper bound of a r r(G) is not larger than (2r + 5)Δ(G) with 4 ≤ r ≤ 10.  相似文献

An r-dynamic coloring of a graph G is a proper coloring c of the vertices such that |c(N(v))| ≥ min {r, deg(v)}, for each vV (G). The r-dynamic chromatic number of a graph G is the smallest k such that G admits an r-dynamic coloring with k colors. In this paper, we obtain the r-dynamic chromatic number of the line graph of helm graphs Hn for all r between minimum and maximum degree of Hn. Moreover, our proofs are constructive, what means that we give also polynomial time algorithms for the appropriate coloring. Finally, as the first, we define an equivalent model for edge coloring.  相似文献

Given a sequence A = (a 1, …, a n ) of real numbers, a block B of A is either a set B = {a i , a i+1, …, a j } where ij or the empty set. The size b of a block B is the sum of its elements. We show that when each a i ∈ [0, 1] and k is a positive integer, there is a partition of A into k blocks B 1, …, B k with |b i ?b j | ≤ 1 for every i, j. We extend this result in several directions.  相似文献

A (v, β o , μ)-design over regular graph G = (V, E) of degree d is an ordered pair D = (V, B), where |V| = v and B is the set of maximum independent sets of G called blocks such that if i, jV, ij and if i and j are not adjacent in G then there are exactly μ blocks containing i and j. In this paper, we study (v, β o , μ)-designs over the graphs K n × K n , T(n)-triangular graphs, L 2(n)-square lattice graphs, Petersen graph, Shrikhande graph, Clebsch graph and the Schläfli graph and non-existence of (v, β o , μ)-designs over the three Chang graphs T 1(8), T 2(8) and T 3(8).  相似文献

A k-total coloring of a graph G is a mapping ?: V (G) ? E(G) → {1; 2,..., k} such that no two adjacent or incident elements in V (G) ? E(G) receive the same color. Let f(v) denote the sum of the color on the vertex v and the colors on all edges incident with v: We say that ? is a k-neighbor sum distinguishing total coloring of G if f(u) 6 ≠ f(v) for each edge uvE(G): Denote χ Σ (G) the smallest value k in such a coloring of G: Pil?niak and Wo?niak conjectured that for any simple graph with maximum degree Δ(G), χ Σ ≤ Δ(G)+3. In this paper, by using the famous Combinatorial Nullstellensatz, we prove that for K 4-minor free graph G with Δ(G) > 5; χ Σ = Δ(G) + 1 if G contains no two adjacent Δ-vertices, otherwise, χ Σ (G) = Δ(G) + 2.  相似文献

A graph is 1-planar if it can be drawn on the plane so that each edge is crossed by at most one other edge. In this paper, we verify the total coloring conjecture for every 1-planar graph G if either Δ(G) ≥ 9 and g(G) ≥ 4, or Δ(G) ≥ 7 and g(G) ≥ 5, where Δ(G) is the maximum degree of G and g(G) is the girth of G.  相似文献

A total weighting of a graph G is a mapping ? that assigns to each element zV (G)∪E(G) a weight ?(z). A total weighting ? is proper if for any two adjacent vertices u and v, ∑ eE(u) ?(e)+?(u)≠∑ eE(v) ?(e)+?(v). This paper proves that if each edge e is given a set L(e) of 3 permissible weights, and each vertex v is given a set L(v) of 2 permissible weights, then G has a proper total weighting ? with ?(z) ∈ L(z) for each element zV (G)∪E(G).  相似文献

Let G be a 2-edge-connected simple graph on n vertices. For an edge e = uvE(G), define d(e) = d(u) + d(v). Let F denote the set of all simple 2-edge-connected graphs on n ≥ 4 vertices such that GF if and only if d(e) + d(e’) ≥ 2n for every pair of independent edges e, e’ of G. We prove in this paper that for each GF, G is not Z 3-connected if and only if G is one of K 2,n?2, K 3,n?3, K 2,n?2 + , K 3,n?3 + or one of the 16 specified graphs, which generalizes the results of X. Suppose G is a higher-rank connected semisimple Lie group with finite center and without compact factors. Let G = G or G = G ? V, where V is a finite-dimensional vector space V. For any unitary representation (π,H) of G, we study the twisted cohomological equation π(a)f ? λf = g for partially hyperbolic element aG and λU(1), as well as the twisted cocycle equation π(a1)f ? λ1f = π(a2)g ? λ2g for commuting partially hyperbolic elements a1, a2G. We characterize the obstructions to solving these equations, construct smooth solutions and obtain tame Sobolev estimates for the solutions. These results can be extended to partially hyperbolic flows in parallel. As an application, we prove cocycle rigidity for any abelian higher-rank partially hyperbolic algebraic actions. This is the first paper exploring rigidity properties of partially hyperbolic that the hyperbolic directions don’t generate the whole tangent space. The result can be viewed as a first step toward the application of KAM method in obtaining differential rigidity for these actions in future works.  相似文献

Let χ = {χ n } n=0 be the Haar system normalized in L 2(0, 1) and M = {M s } s=1 be an arbitrary, increasing sequence of nonnegative integers. For any subsystem of χ of the form {φ k } = χS = {χ n } nS , where S = S(M) = {n k } k=1 = {nV[p]: pM}, V[0] = {1, 2} and V[p] = {2 p + 1, 2 p + 2, …, 2 p+1} for p = 1, 2, … a series of the form Σ i=1 a i φ i with a i ↘ 0 is constructed, that is universal with respect to partial series in all classes L r (0, 1), r ∈ (0, 1), in the sense of a.e. convergence and in the metric ofL r (0, 1). The constructed series is universal in the class of all measurable, finite functions on [0, 1] in the sense of a.e. convergence. It is proved that there exists a series by Haar system with decreasing coefficients, which has the following property: for any ? > 0 there exists a measurable function µ(x), x ∈ [0, 1], such that 0 ≤ µ(x) ≤ 1 and |{x ∈ [0, 1], µ(x) ≠ = 1}| < ?, and the series is universal in the weighted space L µ[0, 1] with respect to subseries, in the sense of convergence in the norm of L µ[0, 1].  相似文献

In this work, we obtain good upper bounds for the diameter of any graph in terms of its minimum degree and its order, improving a classical theorem due to Erd¨os, Pach, Pollack and Tuza.We use these bounds in order to study hyperbolic graphs(in the Gromov sense). To compute the hyperbolicity constant is an almost intractable problem, thus it is natural to try to bound it in terms of some parameters of the graph. Let H(n, δ_0) be the set of graphs G with n vertices and minimum degree δ_0, and J(n, Δ) be the set of graphs G with n vertices and maximum degree Δ. We study the four following extremal problems on graphs: a(n, δ_0) = min{δ(G) | G ∈ H(n, δ_0)}, b(n, δ_0) = max{δ(G) |G ∈ H(n, δ_0)}, α(n, Δ) = min{δ(G) | G ∈ J(n, Δ)} and β(n, Δ) = max{δ(G) | G ∈ J(n, Δ)}. In particular, we obtain bounds for b(n, δ_0) and we compute the precise value of a(n, δ_0), α(n, Δ) andβ(n, Δ) for all values of n, δ_0 and Δ, respectively.  相似文献

A k-coloring (not necessarily proper) of vertices of a graph is called acyclic, if for every pair of distinct colors i and j the subgraph induced by the edges whose endpoints have colors i and j is acyclic. We consider some generalized acyclic k-colorings, namely, we require that each color class induces an acyclic or bounded degree graph. Mainly we focus on graphs with maximum degree 5. We prove that any such graph has an acyclic 5-coloring such that each color class induces an acyclic graph with maximum degree at most 4. We prove that the problem of deciding whether a graph G has an acyclic 2-coloring in which each color class induces a graph with maximum degree at most 3 is NP-complete, even for graphs with maximum degree 5. We also give a linear-time algorithm for an acyclic t-improper coloring of any graph with maximum degree d assuming that the number of colors is large enough.  相似文献

Let G be a simple graph, let d(v) denote the degree of a vertex v and let g be a nonnegative integer function on V (G) with 0 ≤ g(v) ≤ d(v) for each vertex vV (G). A g c -coloring of G is an edge coloring such that for each vertex vV (G) and each color c, there are at least g(v) edges colored c incident with v. The g c -chromatic index of G, denoted by χ′g c (G), is the maximum number of colors such that a gc-coloring of G exists. Any simple graph G has the g c -chromatic index equal to δ g (G) or δ g (G) ? 1, where \({\delta _g}\left( G \right) = \mathop {\min }\limits_{v \in V\left( G \right)} \left\lfloor {d\left( v \right)/g\left( v \right)} \right\rfloor \). A graph G is nearly bipartite, if G is not bipartite, but there is a vertex uV (G) such that G ? u is a bipartite graph. We give some new sufficient conditions for a nearly bipartite graph G to have χ′g c (G) = δ g (G). Our results generalize some previous results due to Wang et al. in 2006 and Li and Liu in 2011.  相似文献

Let V be the complex vector space of homogeneous linear polynomials in the variables x1,..., x m . Suppose G is a subgroup of S m , and χ is an irreducible character of G. Let H d (G, χ) be the symmetry class of polynomials of degree d with respect to G and χ.
For any linear operator T acting on V, there is a (unique) induced operator K χ (T) ∈ End(H d (G, χ)) acting on symmetrized decomposable polynomials by
$${K_\chi }\left( T \right)\left( {{f_1} * {f_2} * \cdots * {f_d}} \right) = T{f_1} * T{f_2} * \cdots * T{f_d}.$$
In this paper, we show that the representation T ? K χ (T) of the general linear group GL(V) is equivalent to the direct sum of χ(1) copies of a representation (not necessarily irreducible) T ? B χ G (T).

An (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling of a graph G is a bijection f from V(G) ∪ E(G) onto {1, 2,…,|V(G)| + |E(G)|} with the property that the edge-weight set {f(x) + f(xy) + f(y) | xyE(G)} is equal to {a, a + d, a + 2d,...,a + (|E(G)| ? 1)d} for two integers a > 0 and d ? 0. An (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling is called super if the smallest possible labels appear on the vertices. In this paper, we completely settle the problem of the super (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling of the complete bipartite graph Km,n and obtain the following results: the graph Km,n has a super (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling if and only if either (i) m = 1, n = 1, and d ? 0, or (ii) m = 1, n ? 2 (or n = 1 and m ? 2), and d ∈ {0, 1, 2}, or (iii) m = 1, n = 2 (or n = 1 and m = 2), and d = 3, or (iv) m, n ? 2, and d = 1.  相似文献
