The Flory-Huggins chi1,2infinity parameter and solubility parameter delta2 determined by means of inverse gas chromatography (IGC) were successfully used in the physicochemical characterisation of oxidation products of mineral oil-poly-alpha-olefin mixtures. Application of IGC parameters allows one to examine the changes occurring during three different oxidation procedures: classical oxidation in a stainless steel reactor, in a GC column and separate oxidation of the mixture's components. Changes in chi1,2infinity values reflect the changing affinity of mixtures to different types (dispersive, polar, hydrogen bonding) of intermolecular interactions and their potential miscibility and solubility.  相似文献

Based on bonding parameters such as Yang's Electronegative Force Gauge Y(i), electronic number of valence layer Z(i), number of combined hydrogen atoms h(i), number of bonding electron b(i), and quantum number such as the highest main quantum number of valence layer n(i), a novel atomic valence delta(i) (Y) is defined and a novel topological index (1)chi(Y) is derived from the atomic valence. The atomic valence is defined as delta(i) (Y) = (Z(i) - h(i))b(i)/n(i) (2)Y(i), while the topological index is expressed as (1)chi(Y) summation operator (i,j=1) (m) (delta(i) (Y)delta(j) (Y))(-1/2). Subsequently, the index (1)chi(Y) is utilized to study the structure-property relationships of complex organic compounds. The results of correlativity showed that the index is highly and extensively correlated with such properties as solubility of phenyl chlorides, gas chromatographic retention index of alkoxyl silanes, and toxicity of heterocyclic nitrogen-containing compounds. Moreover, predicted values are quite consistent with experimental ones when the index is employed to predict the partition coefficient (log P) of fatty alcohols, phenyl chlorides, and barbitals. Compared to the topological indices reported in the literature, the universality and reliability of (1)chi(Y) to the properties of complex organic compounds have been distinctively improved, and its calculating process is simple and convenient.  相似文献

The modified extended Hansen method was tested for the first time to determine partial solubility parameters of non-polymeric pharmaceutical excipients. The method was formerly tested with drug molecules, and is based upon a regression analysis of the logarithm of the mole fraction solubility of the solute against the partial solubility parameters of a series of solvents of different chemical classes. Two monosaccharides and one disaccharide (lactose monohydrate, saccharose and mannitol) were chosen. The solubility of these compounds was determined in a series of solvents ranging from nonpolar to polar and covering a wide range of the solubility parameter scale. Sugars do not absorb at the UV-vis region, and the saturated solutions were assayed with a recent chromatographic technique coupled to an evaporative light scattering detector. This technique was suitable to determine the concentration dissolved in most solvents. The modified extended Hansen method provided better results than the original approach. The best model was the four parameter equation, which includes the dispersion delta d, dipolar delta p, acidic delta a and basic delta b partial solubility parameters. The partial solubility parameters obtained, expressed as MPa1/2, were delta d = 17.6, delta p = 28.7, delta h = 19, delta a = 14.5, delta b = 12.4, delta T = 32.8 for lactose, delta d = 16.2, delta p = 24.5, delta h = 14.6, delta a = 8.7, delta b = 12.2, delta T = 32.8 for mannitol and delta d = 17.1, delta p = 18.5, delta h = 13, delta a = 11.3, delta b = 7.6, delta T = 28.4 for saccharose. The high total solubility parameters delta T obtained agree with the polar nature of the sugars. The dispersion parameters delta d are quite similar for the three sugars indicating that the polar delta p and hydrogen bonding parameters (delta h, delta a, delta b) are responsible for the variation in the total solubility parameters delta T obtained, as also found for drugs. The results suggest that the method could be extended to determine the partial solubility parameters of other non-polymeric pharmaceutical excipients.  相似文献

The partial molar volumes, V1(M), and the molar volume of isotactic crystalline low-molecular-weight poly(1-butene), iPBu-1, V1, have been calculated from the measured density of {iPBu-1 + solvent (n-hexane, n-heptane, n-nonane, n-decane, p-xylene, cyclohexane and chloroform)} systems. Some of the thermodynamic quantities were also obtained for the iPBu-1 with eight hydrocarbons (n-octane, n-decane, n-undecane, n-dodecane, n-tridecane, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene) by the method of inverse gas chromatography at various temperatures. The weight fraction activity coefficients of the solvent at infinite dilution, omega2(infinity) and the Flory-Huggins thermodynamic interaction parameters, chi21(infinity), between polymer and solvents were determined. The partial molar free energy, deltaG2(infinity), the partial molar heat of mixing, deltaH2(infinity), at infinite dilution and the polymer solubility parameter, delta1, were calculated. Additionally, the (solid + liquid) binary mixtures equilibria, SLE, of iPBu-1 with three hydrocarbons (n-octane, n-decane and m-xylene) were studied by a dynamic method. By performing these experiments over a large concentration range, the T-x phase diagrams of the polymer-solvent systems were constructed. The excess Gibbs energy models were used to describe the nonideal behaviour of the liquid phase. The omega2(infinity) were determined from the solubility measurements and were predicted by using the UNIFAC FV model.  相似文献

Inverse gas chromatographic technique (IGC) was attempted as a new approach to follow the chemical changes that occur during lubricating base oil oxidation. Three groups of the oxidized base oils were prepared at different oxygen flow rates, periods and temperatures according to IP48 method. The corrected retention volumes (VR) were calculated for a series of selected test solutes possessing different functional groups on the oxidized base oils used as stationary phases. Kovats retention index (I), Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (κ∞1,2), and partial molar free energy of solution (ΔG∞L), were calculated for the given test solutes from their VR. The relationships between the I values and the oxidation variables were plotted and discussed. The obtained results were confirmed by potentiometric titration. The study reveals that the magnitudes of variation of I, κ∞1,2 or ΔG∞L retention parameters depend on the oxidation degree of the base oil. Large differences between the I values permit discrimination between the different oxidation steps.  相似文献

In order to investigate the influence of hydrophobic moieties formed by poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) in a hydrogel matrix on the release behavior of the hydrogel, a series of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm)-modified poly(2-hydroxyethyl acrylate-co-2-hydroxyethyl 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (P(HEA-co-HEMA)) via interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) were prepared by a sequential UV solution polymerization. Interestingly, it was found that P(HEA-co-HEMA)/PNIPAm IPN indicated a single glass transition temperature (T(g)) and the T(g)s of the IPNs increased with an increase in the PNIPAm component. This phenomenon may be attributed to hydrogen bonding between the two polymer networks, but the hydrogen bonding exerts less influence on the swelling behavior of the IPNs, due to the fact that IPNs can respond to changes in temperature like PNIPAm. Using 2-[(diphenylmethyl)sulphiny]acetamide (modafinil, MOD) and p-hydroxybenzoic acid (HBA) as model drug compounds, the release behavior of the IPNs was studied at body temperature, and it was found that the presence of PNIPAm could retard drug release regardless of the solubility of the drugs. Release profiles of HBA from the IPNs and their component samples as a function of time at 37 degrees C.  相似文献

A series of nine tripodal tetradentate ligands based on tris(pyridyl-2-methyl)amine TPA with hydrogen bond donors R in one, two and three of the pyridine 6-positions (R = NH2 amino, L(Am-1,2,3); NHCH2(t)Bu neopentylamino, L(Np-1,2,3); NHCO(t)Bu pivaloylamido, L(Piv-1,2,3)) and TPA are used to investigate the effect of different hydrogen bonding microenvironments on electrochemical properties of their LCuCl complexes. The hydrogen bond donors are rigidly preorganised and suitably oriented for intramolecular N-H...Cl-Cu hydrogen bonds. Cyclic voltammetry studies show that the reduction potential of the Cu(II)/Cu(I) couple as a function of the ligand follows the order TPA < L(Am-n) < or approximately L(Np-n) < L(Piv-n), and that the magnitude of the effect increases with the number of hydrogen bonding groups. These trends could be explained in terms of the steric and electronic effects exerted by these groups stabilising the Cu(I) oxidation state. In fact, the X-ray structure of the air-stable [(L(Piv-3))Cu(I)Cl] complex is reported and shows elongated Cu-N and Cu-Cl bonds, presumably due to the combination of steric and electron withdrawing effects exerted by the three pivaloylamido groups. We reasoned that the strength of hydrogen bonding in the Cu(I) and Cu(II) oxidation states could differ and therefore contribute also to the aforementioned redox changes; this hypothesis is tested using IR and NMR spectroscopy. IR studies of the [(L(Piv-1,2,3))Cu(I)Cl] and [(L(Piv-1,2,3))Cu(II)Cl]+ complexes in acetonitrile show that the intramolecular N-H...Cl-Cu hydrogen bonding weakens in the order L(Piv-1) > L(Piv-2) > L(Piv-3), and that it is stronger in the Cu(I) complexes. The 1H NMR spectra of the [(L(Piv1,2,3))Cu(I)Cl] complexes are in complete agreement with the IR data, and reveal that the stability of the Cu(I) complexes to oxidation in air increases in the order L(Piv-1) < L(Piv-2) < L(Piv-3). The hydrogen bonds in the Cu(I) complexes are stronger because of the higher electron density on the Cl ligand, when compared to the Cu(II) complexes. This is consistent with ab initio MP2 calculations performed on the complexes [(L(Piv-3))Cu(I)Cl] and [(L(Piv-3))Cu(II)Cl]+. Thus, the electron density of a metal-bound ligand acting as hydrogen bond acceptor is revealed as the major factor in determining the strength of the hydrogen bonds formed. From the IR data the energies of the N-H...Cl-Cu hydrogen bonds is estimated, as is the contribution of changes in hydrogen bond strength with the oxidation state of the copper centre and number of interactions to stabilising the Cu(I) state. Some of the implications of this result in dioxygen activation chemistry are discussed.  相似文献

Amorphous drug nanosuspensions are prone to particle growth due to Ostwald ripening. By incorporating a second component of extremely low aqueous solubility, Ostwald ripening can be inhibited. These studies indicate that to inhibit ripening, the drug/inhibitor mixture (in the particles) must form a single phase. The drug/inhibitor mixture can be characterized by the interaction parameter chi using the Bragg-Williams theory, in which single phase mixtures are obtained for chi < 2. The chi parameter can be calculated from the (crystalline) solubility of the drug in the inhibitor, provided the inhibitor is a liquid, and the melting entropy and temperature of the drug.  相似文献

Ethanol in an acidic solution-Pt(110) interface was studied by SFG spectroscopy (between 1820 and 2325 cm(-1)) to explore primarily the effects of the alcohol concentration. Stretching bands of H-Pt (ca. 1970 or 2050 cm(-1)) and CO (ca. 1980 and 2040 cm(-1)) species, produced by the ethanol oxidation, were detected during the adsorption and oxidation of 0-1 mol L(-1) ethanol in a 0.1 mol L(-1) HClO(4) solution on the electrode surface. Hydrogen and CO coadsorb stably on Pt(110) between 0.05 and 0.15 V in ethanol-containing solutions. In this potential range, the blue shift of the hydrogen resonance (ca. 80 cm(-1)) reveals a weakening of the hydrogen bonding between adsorbed hydrogen and water molecules in the double layer. After the hydrogen desorption (0.15 V), the formation of compact CO islands, depending on the ethanol concentration, lifts the Pt(110) surface reconstruction. In ethanol-free solution, the surface remains reconstructed. The lower-frequency CO band is assigned to the CO species adsorbed on (1 x 2) reconstructed Pt(110) domains, having smaller local coverages, while the higher-frequency CO band is attributed to the close-packed CO species adsorbed on (1 x 1) patches. The reaction pathway forming CO(2) is less favored with increasing ethanol concentration.  相似文献

The thermodynamic properties of poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl acrylate-co-cyclo -pentylstyryl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane) (poly(MMA-co-BA-co-styryl-POSS)) were investigated by means of inverse gas chromatography (IGC) using 20 different kinds of solvents as the probes. Some thermodynamic parameters, such as molar heats of sorption, weight fraction activity coefficient, Flory-Huggins interaction parameter, partial molar heats of mixing and solubility parameter were obtained to judge the interactions between POSS-contained polymers and solvents and the solubility of the polymers in these solvents. It was found that acetates, aromatic hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon halides were good solvents, n-hexane, ethanol, n-propanol, n-butanol and n-pentanol were moderate solvents, while n-heptane, n-octane, n-nonane, n-decane and methanol were poor solvents for all POSS-contained polymers within the experimental temperature range. Incorporation of POSS in polymer increased the solubility of polymers in solvents, and the more the POSS in polymer was, the better the solubility was and stronger the hydrogen bonding interaction was, but the POSS content in polymers seemed to have no obvious influence on the solubility parameter of polymers.  相似文献

A new extension of the Hildebrand solubility approach which describes drug solubility in solvent mixtures showing multiple solubility peaks, the chameleonic effect, is proposed. The experimental solubilities of oxolinic acid were measured at 25 degrees C in solvent mixtures of ethanol-water and ethanol-ethyl acetate. A plot of the mole fraction of the drug against the solubility parameter (delta) of the solvent mixtures displays two peaks at delta = 30.78 MPa1/2 (80% v/v of ethanol in water) and at delta = 20.90 MPa1/2 (30% v/v of ethanol in ethyl acetate). The new extension proposed reproduces two solubility peaks. The thermograms of the solid phase before and after equilibration with the solvent mixtures did not show significant changes. The new extension was also tested with experimental data previously reported for drugs showing two solubility peaks of different height. The accuracy of other published models for describing two solubility maxima is also compared.  相似文献

The total and partial solubility parameters (dispersion, polar and hydrogen‐bonding solubility parameters) of ten ionic liquids were determined. Intrinsic viscosity approaches were used that encompassed a one‐dimensional method (1D‐Method), and two different three‐dimensional methods (3D‐Method1 and 3D‐Method2). The effect of solvent type, the dimethylacetamide (DMA) fraction in the ionic liquid, and dissolution temperature on solubility parameters were also investigated. For all types of effect, both the 1D‐Method and 3D‐Method2 present the same trend in the total solubility parameter. The partial solubility parameters are influenced by the cation and anion of the ionic liquid. Considering the effect on partial solubility parameters of the solvent type in the ionic liquid, it was observed that in both 3D methods, the dispersion and polar parameters of a 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium acetate/solvent (60:40 vol %) mixture tend to increase as the total solubility parameter of the solvent increases.  相似文献

Effects of base pairing on the one-electron oxidation rate of guanine derivatives, guanine, 8-bromoguanine, and 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanine have been studied. The one-electron oxidation rate of guanine derivatives was determined by triplet-quenching experiments, using N,N'-dibutylnaphthaldiimide (NDI) in the triplet excited state (3NDI*) and fullerene (C(60)) in the triplet excited state ((3)C(60*)) as oxidants. In all three guanine derivatives studied here, acceleration of the one-electron oxidation was observed upon hydrogen bonding with cytosine, which demonstrates lowering of the oxidation potential of guanine derivatives by base pairing with cytosine. When a methyl or bromo group was introduced to the C5 position of cytosine, acceleration or suppression of the one-electron oxidation relative to the guanine:cytosine base pair was observed, respectively. The results demonstrate that the one-electron oxidation rate of guanine in DNA can be regulated by introducing a substituent on base pairing cytosine.  相似文献

The effects of six organic modifiers (urea, methanol, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, acetonitrile and 2-propanol) on the retention mechanism and separation selectivity of the bulk buffer in micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MECC) with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelles as pseudo-stationary phase have been investigated through linear solvation energy relationships (LSERs). It is found that the retention value in MECC systems with or without organic modifier is primarily dependent on the solvophobic interaction and the hydrogen bonding interaction with the solute as proton acceptor, while the dipolar interaction and the hydrogen bonding interaction with the solute as proton donor play minor roles. The effects of the organic modifiers on the solvophobic, dipolar and hydrogen bonding interactions are evaluated in terms of the relationship between regression coefficient of the LSER equations and the modifier concentration. The variations of the solvophobic interaction and the dipolar interaction with change of the modifier concentration can be approximately explained using the solubility parameter and the dipolarity/polarizability parameter of the organic modifier, respectively. However, the relationships between the hydrogen bond acidity and basicity of the bulk buffer and the organic modifiers are rather complicated. Those results may be caused from the displacement of organic modifiers to the water adsorbed on the micellar surface as well as changes in the acidity and basicity of the bulk buffer with the addition of organic modifiers. In addition, it is found that the phase ratio is influenced significantly by the use of organic modifier.  相似文献

The oxidation of thianthrene 5-oxide, i.e., a mechanistic probe for the assessment of the electronic character of various oxidants, with peroxybenzoic acids in various oxygen bases as solvents was investigated. The nucleophilicity (X(SO)) of peroxy acids was increasing with increasing basicity of the oxygen base. A good linear correlation was observed by plotting X(SO) values vs either the Kamlet-Taft beta values or the OOH (1)H NMR chemical shifts of m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (m-CPBA) in solvents of various basicity. These observations, together with the results of IR and (1)H NMR spectroscopic studies of peroxybenzoic acids, and DFT (B3LYP/6-311++G) studies of the intramolecular hydrogen bonding in peroxyformic, peroxyacetic, and m-CPBA, as well as the intermolecular hydrogen bonding in the complexes of the these peroxy acids with dimethyl ether as a model oxygen base, support the involvement of the peroxy acid-oxygen base complexes in the transition states of these reactions. The increased nucleophilicity (X(SO)) of peroxy acids in basic solvents is most likely due to the increased negative charge on the terminal "electrophilic" peroxycarboxylic oxygen atom (OH), and/or the increased LUMO and HOMO energies of the peroxy acid in the complexes, as compared to those parameters in the intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded form of peroxy acids, believed to be operative in inert solvents.  相似文献

The principal (13)C chemical-shift values for the pi-[TCNE](2)(2-) dimer anion within an array of counterions have been measured to understand better the electronic structure of these atypical chemical species in several related TCNE-based structures. The structure of pi-[TCNE](2)(2-) is unusual as it contains two very long C-C bond lengths (ca. 2.9 Angstroms) between the two monomeric units and has been found to exist as a singlet state, suggestive of a (1)A(1g) (b(2u)(2)b(1g)(0)) electronic configuration. A systematic study of several oxidation states of [TCNE](n) (n = 0, 1-, 2-) was conducted to determine how the NMR chemical-shift tensor values change as a function of electronic structure and to understand the interactions that lead to spin-pairing of the monomer units. The density functional theory (DFT) calculated nuclear shielding tensors are correlated with the experimentally determined principal chemical-shift values. Such theoretical methods provide information on the tensor magnitudes and orientations of their principal tensor components with respect to the molecular frame. Both theoretical and experimental ethylenic chemical-shielding tensors reveal high sensitivity in the component, delta(perpendicular), lying in the monomer molecular plane and perpendicular to the pi-electron plane. This largest shift dependence on charge density is observed to be about -111 ppm/e(-) for delta(perpendicular). The component in the molecular plane but parallel to the central C=C bond, delta(parallel), exhibits a sensitivity of approximately -43 ppm/e(-). However, the out-of-plane component delta'(perpendicular) shows a minimal dependence of -2.6 ppm/e(-) on the oxidation state (n) of [TCNE](n). These relative values support the claim that it is changes within the ethylenic pi-electrons and not the sigma-electrons that best account for the dramatic variations in bonding and shift tensors in this series of compounds. Concerning the intraion bonding, relatively weak Wiberg bond orders between the two monomeric components of the dimer correlate with the long bonds linking the two [TCNE(*)](-) monomers. The chemical-shift tensors for the cyano group, compared to the ethylene shifts, exhibit a reduced sensitivity on the TCNE oxidation state. The experimental principal chemical-shift components agree (within typical errors) with the calculated quantum mechanical shieldings used to correlate the bonding. The embedded ion model (EIM) was used to investigate the typically large electrostatic lattice potential in these ionic materials. Chemical-shielding principal values calculated with the EIM model differ from experiment by +/-3.82 ppm on average, whereas in the absence of an electrostatic field model, the experimental and theoretical results agree by +/-4.42 ppm, which is only a modest increase in error considering the overall ionic magnitudes associated with the tensor variations. Apparently, the effects of the sizable long-range electrostatic fields cancel when the shifts are computed because of lattice symmetry.  相似文献
