Crossed laser molecular beam configuration was used to study the photoionization of U and UO by the UV-lines of an argon ion laser. Photoionization efficiencies of both U and UO were found to be line sensitive. Photoionization by the 3638 Å line was observed for the first time. Uranium atom ionization efficiency being higher for the 3345 Å and 3511 Å groups of lines, while UO ionization efficiency being maximum for the 3638 Å line. Dependence of photoion signal on laser power and relative photoionization efficiencies of the two isotopic species of uranium are also investigated.  相似文献

The spectra obtained by means of Fourier spectroscopy and the assignments of the B-X lines of I2 in the vicinity of two argon ion laser lines (5145 and 5287 Å), three krypton ion laser lines (5208, 5308, and 5683 Å), and one HeNe laser line (6119 Å) are given. A detailed comparison, in the vicinity of the argon ion laser line (5145 Å), between the iodine wavenumbers calculated by means of the two sets of molecular constants previously published [Wei and Tellinghuisen, J. Mol. Spectrosc.50, 317–332 (1974); Barrow and Yee, J. C. S. Faraday II. 69, 684–700 (1973)] with those calculated from Fourier spectroscopy data, is presented.  相似文献

The collision processes responsible for populating and de-populating upper and lower levels of the cw He-Hg ion laser are investigated using flowing afterglow techniques. It is shown that the superior performance of the laser at 6150 Å compared to that at 7945 Å is not due to a difference in excitation mechanism — both are excited by charge transfer from He+ — but instead reflects a greater effectiveness of second kind collisions of electrons in depopulating the 7p2P12 upper level of the 7945 Å transition. The charge transfer, excitation rate constants for several Hg II levels are compared, and values for the rate constant for the electron collision de-excitation process are deduced.  相似文献

The T0/?(T0) dependences (T0 is the intensity of the 1920 Å continuum at its maximum, ? is the concentration of argon atoms at the intersection of an electron beam and a jet, T0 is the temperature of argon at the nozzle) for the 1920 Å continuum radiated by a supersonic argon jet excited by an electron beam were investigated at various pressures of argon at the entry to a nozzle. The experiments performed suggested a possible generation mechanism of the 1920 Å continuum emitted by an argon jet.  相似文献

Line widths of the Ca(II) 3968 Å and Na(I) 5890 Å resonance lines broadened by electric microfields in a plasma were measured. A pressure-driven shock tube was used as the light source. Radiation from the equilibrium region behind the reflected shock wave was studied using a rapid scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer. Electron and argon atom densities of about 8 x 1016 and 1 x 1019 per cm3, respectively, were achieved at the relatively low temperature of around 7500 K by vaporizing a cesium powder that had been added to the shock tube as a solid aerosol in argon gas. The measured line widths were predominantly Stark broadened by the electrons and ions in the plasma, although Doppler, van der Waals, instrument function and optical depth effects had to be taken into account. The electron broadened line width of Na(I) 5890 Å was lower by about 16% than the predicted value from a semiclassical calculation, in agreement with a recently reported measurement, while for Ca(II) 3968 Å the results agree with previous reliable experiments and are lower than two calculated values by 20 and 36% respectively. The van der Waals broadening by argon was also determined and showed qualitative agreement with other results.  相似文献

The luminescence spectrum of coronene in n-heptane at 77°K has been studied using both xenon lamp and argon ion laser excitation. The results illustrate the Shpolskii theory of different emitting sites. With xenon excitation the emission spectrum consists of two similar slightly shifted subspectra. With laser excitation at 3511 Å only the longer wavelength subspectrum is observed. Fluorescence and phosphorescence excitation spectra show that this laser line is absorbed by the longwave component of the S2←S0 doublet.  相似文献

Laser-induced photodissociation of NaCs molecule has been observed when a mixture of Na and Cs metal vapour in a glass cell was irradiated by most of the lines of an argon ion laser. The photodissociation results in the 3P state of Na atoms which is correlated with theF 1Σ+ and G1π molecular states of NaCs. Distribution of photofragments over fine structure components 32 P 3/2 and 32 P 1/2 of Na has been studied. The ratio of intensity ofD 2 line (5890 Å) toD 1 line (5896 Å) of Na varies from around 2 at 5145 Å to about 3.5 at 4579 Å. The relative photodissociation cross-section increases monotonically as the wave-length of laser light decreases from 5145 Å to 4579 Å. It is seen that the 4579 Å photon is about 200 times more effective than the 5145 Å photon in causing the photoreaction NaCs + (Ar+ photon) → Na*(3P) + Cs(6S).  相似文献

A 90° scattering experiment with a preionizationZ-pinch is described. The first part describes conventional measurements of the electron temperature and density (Thomson scattering). In the second part of the experiment Rayleigh scattering from excited hydrogen atoms was observed during very early phases of the discharge. This observation is possible because the Rayleigh scattering cross section of hydrogen atoms in the second and third quantum states is very large because of the small difference in the energy of the photons ofH α (6563 Å) and the light of a ruby laser (6943 Å). Spectral resolution of this part of the scattered light yields a minimum value for the ion temperature.  相似文献

We have studied the ΔJ = 2 rotationally shifted emission lines in the region of the strong absorption of molecular iodine which occurs within the 5145 Å argon ion laser line. We used an etalon tuned, single frequency argon ion laser with a linewidth of 20 MHz to excite the iodine emission and recorded the spectra of the rotational lines with Fabry-Perot spectrometers having resolutions up to 70 MHz (0.0023 cm-1). To overcome Doppler linewidth limitations we took spectra of the emission at small angles to the exciting beam and found the lines to have widths less than our instrumental resolution and frequencies which accurately tuned with the incident laser frequency. We recorded the emission lines for laser frequencies in the absorption line center and out into the absorption wing. Our spectra show that the intensity of the emission lines follows the absorption line profile while the frequency of the emission lines is determined by the laser frequency; the intensity is maximum at the absorption line center, falling by 104 as the laser frequency is moved off the line center, while the line position maintains a constant frequency shift from the laser frequency.  相似文献

In a dc argon discharge column of pressure 5 × 10?4 torr, ion acoustic waves are studied experimentally. Plasma parameters obtained from the phase velocity of waves are compared with the Langmuir probe measurements. The wave diagnostic method yields the electron temperature lower than the probe method by a factor of 3…?5, if the atomic argon ion is assumed as a dominant ion species. The axial profiles of ion drift velocity show the presence of ions flowing toward the anode along the potential drop in flont of it. Also it is found that the surface condition of the cathode sensitively affects the propagation of ion acoustic waves through the changes in discharge parameters.  相似文献

A hollow cathode discharge tube with internal anodes was found to operate at significantly higher discharge voltages than a conventional HCD. A laser tube having internal anodes was constructed and laser operation was investigated in He-Kr, He-Ar and He-Ne-Xe gas mixtures. Due to the increased voltage low threshold currents and increased output power were obtained at the 4694 Å Kr ion and the 4765 Å Ar ion transitions. CW laser oscillation was observed for the first time at the 5314 Å and 4863 Å transitions of Xe II.  相似文献

Self-consistent Hartree-Fock and generalized valence bond calculations have been performed on clusters modeling the (111) silicon surface. We find that the surface state is accurately described as a dangling bond surface orbital with 93% p character. We determined the optimum relaxation of the surface layer to be 0.08 Å toward the second layer. In the positive ion, the surface atom relaxes toward the second layer by an additional 0.30 Å and for the negative ion the surface atom moves toward the vacuum 0.25 Å. The vertical ionization potential was found to be 5.78 eV (experimental values are 5.6 – 5.9 eV) while the calculated adiabatic electron affinity is 3.02 eV.  相似文献

The resonant fluorescent spectra of gaseous bromine excited by the single longitudinal mode 5145 Å radiation of an argon ion laser were reinvestigated. Three new transitions were found in addition to the five previously reported. The excitation frequency and the fluorescent line positions from Δv = 1 to Δv = 9 were carefully measured for each of the eight transitions. The fluorescent lines of Δv = 5 and Δv = 10 are too weak to be detected. The isotopic molecules and the vibration-rotation states involved were assigned. All the fluorescent line positions up to Δv = 10 were calculated, and they agreed with the observed values to within 0.2 cm?1. The relative intensities in each progression also agreed with the known Franck-Condon factors.  相似文献

A new type of analysis has been developed to determine transition probabilities of spectral lines emitted from optically thin, multi-element, arc plasmas in local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE). Provided the ionization energy of the element of interest is considerably lower than that of the other elements, this method is independent of demixing effects for a fairly wide temperature range. The technique has been applied to spectroscopic data obtained from wall-stabilized arcs operated at atmospheric pressure, first in a mixture of argon and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), and second in SF6. A trace of hydrogen is added in both experiments in order to determine the electron density from the measuredHβ hydrogen line width. The experimental data do not contradict the assumption of LTE. The transition probabilities for the SI 4695 Å, SI 5279 Å, SII 5320 Å, and SII 5454 Å lines are in good agreement with those listed in the NBS critical data compilation.  相似文献

An experimental investigation of the profiles of the 4471 Å and 4922 Å lines in the afterglow of an high density plasma of helium produced by laser is reported. Fe–Al alloy with Fe/Al ratio of 3:1 was first prepared by argon arc melting. It was subsequently coated on glass slide and cellophane tape using an electron beam gun system to have a thickness of 2,000 Å. X-ray diffraction spectrum of the coated sample indicates a definite texture for the film with a preferential growth along the Fe(110) plane. SEM micrographs of the film showed the presence of nano islands of nearly 3?×?1012/m2 surface density. Composition of different parts of the film was determined using EDAX. Room temperature Fe-57 Mössbauer spectrum of coated sample showed the presence a quadrupole doublet with a splitting of 0.46 mm/s, which is typical of Al-rich iron compounds. MOKE study shows an in-plane magnetic moment.  相似文献
