We report on the welding of fused silica with ultrashort laser pulses at high repetition rates. Femtosecond laser pulses were
focused at the interface of two optically contacted fused silica samples. Due to the nonlinear absorption in the focal volume
and heat accumulation of successive pulses, the laser acts as a localized heat source at the focus position. Here, we analyze
the influence of the laser and processing parameters on the amount of molten material. Moreover, we determine the achievable
breaking stress by a three point bending test. With optimized parameters up to 75% of the breaking stress of the bulk material

Transverse parasitic lasing is well known for limiting the signal gain and the pulse energy that can be extracted from Ti:sapphire petawatt amplifiers. We have developed a technique for suppressing these parasitic lasing modes based on perfect refractive index-matching liquid doped with a broad-bandwidth absorber to suppress the transverse lasing while ensuring proper heat removal from the Ti:sapphire crystal. The 800 nm laser output with a bandwidth of 41 nm (FWHM) and peak energy of 22.7 J at a repetition rate of 1 Hz is demonstrated. 相似文献

Generation of millijoule-level soft-x-ray laser pulses at a 4-Hz repetition rate in a highly saturated tabletop capillary discharge amplifier 总被引:17,自引:0,他引:17
Laser pulses with energies of as much as 1 mJ were generated at a wavelength of 46.9 nm by single-pass amplification in a 34.5 cm-long Ne-like Ar capillary discharge plasma. The large gain-length product of this plasma column allows for soft-x-ray amplification in a highly saturated regime, resulting in efficient energy extraction. Average laser output pulse energy of 0.88 mJ and peak power of 0.6 MW were obtained at a repetition rate of 4 Hz. With an estimated peak spectral brightness of approximately 1x10(23)photons /(s mm(2)mrad> (2)0.01% bandwidth) this tabletop laser is one of the brightest soft-x-ray sources to date. 相似文献

In this paper, we report on the realization of a 20-fs, 20-mJ laser chain operating at a repetition rate of one kilohertz. We emphasise the control on the pulse temporal and spatial profile, and its amplification at high average powers. This 1-kHz, terawatt laser is well suited for applications in high-field physics when low-intensity signal averaging is needed. 相似文献

A high repetition rate, tunable dye laser suffers from thermal and flow field-induced inhomogeneity inside the laser-active zone of the dye solution, and shows a significant disparity in the spectral characteristics. The thermo-optical distortion developed in the lasing medium of dye solution, under high repetition rate pumping, perturbs the dynamics of the medium. The microstructures of the flow field in the hydrodynamic boundary layer, which are responsible for heat transfer, optical path length modulation, and divergence of the seeding radiation, transform the output characteristics of dye laser. The structure function, which represents the intensity of flow velocity fluctuations, and the eddy diffusivity of fluid flow help in design and development of a high-power tunable dye laser. 相似文献

针对啁啾脉冲放大技术建成的钛宝石激光装置,提出一种获得高重复率激光脉冲列的方法.通过改变钛宝石再生放大器中泡克耳斯盒电光开关的传统工作模式,使得腔内放大的脉冲从某特定时刻起,每当在腔内往返一次就以一定的倒出比例(倒出率)倒出腔内脉冲能量的一部分,从而可以在有限的时间段内产生高重复率的啁啾激光脉冲列.基于Franz-Nodvik放大理论,建立了该高重复率再生放大器的理论模型,通过数值计算,系统地分析了初始增益、倒出时刻、倒出率对输出的脉冲序列的影响.在抽运功率为35mJ、倒出率为1/2的实验条件下,通过腔外的脉冲数量选择器,在一个抽运周期内的有限时间段内已获得了14个幅度相近、单脉冲能量约为0.02mJ、重复率为100MHz的啁啾脉冲序列.从此啁啾脉冲列中选取数个脉冲,通过10TW级的激光系统放大和压缩,已获得100MHz重复率的飞秒太瓦级脉冲列.

超宽谱短电磁脉冲的频谱可覆盖GPS工作频带,对GPS接收机的正常工作存在干扰威胁。从理论分析、数值仿真和实验方面研究了高重频超宽谱短电磁脉冲对GPS接收机干扰效果与脉冲参数之间的依赖关系。结果表明:若脉冲重复频率整数倍能落入GPS接收机工作频带内,高重频超宽谱短电磁脉冲对GPS接收机干扰效果较强,且达到相同干扰效果时所需脉冲幅值随重频增大而等比例减小,即脉冲幅值与重频乘积保持为常数;若重频整数倍偏离GPS接收机工作频带,高重频超宽谱短电磁脉冲对GPS接收机干扰效果不明显。 相似文献

Jefferson Laboratory's kW-level infrared free-electron laser utilizes a superconducting accelerator that recovers about 75% of the electron-beam power. In achieving first lasing, the accelerator operated "straight ahead" to deliver 38-MeV, 1.1-mA cw current for lasing near 5 &mgr;m. The waste beam was sent directly to a dump while producing stable operation at up to 311 W. Utilizing the recirculation loop to send the electron beam back to the linac for energy recovery, the machine has now recovered cw average currents up to 5 mA, and has lased cw with up to 1720 W output at 3.1 &mgr;m. 相似文献

We consider scattering of a photon on a short intense laser pulse at high energy. We argue that for ultra-short laser pulses the interaction is coherent over the entire length of the pulse. At low pulse intensity I the total cross section for electron–positron pair production is proportional to I . However, at pulse intensities higher than the characteristic value Is, the total cross section saturates – it becomes proportional to the logarithm of intensity. This non-linear effect is due to multi-photon interactions. We derive the total cross section for pair production at high energies by resuming the multi-photon amplitudes to all orders in intensity. We calculate the saturation intensity Is and show that it is significantly lower than the Schwinger's critical value. We discuss possible experimental tests. 相似文献

We have developed a laser system generating high peak-power ultrashort pulses based on the chirped pulse amplification of
a Ti:sapphire laser. The pulse duration of the laser is reduced to 12 fs, owing to the successful compensation of gain narrowing
during amplification with novel optics. The pulse energy and the repetition rate are 40 mJ and 100 Hz, respectively, as a
consequence of sufficient energy extraction from a laser medium in the final stage of a multipass amplifier chain, which is
designed to balance focusing with a thermal lens against defocusing with convex mirrors without cryogenic cooling for Ti:sapphire

We report the experiments on the optical breakdown and filamentation of femtosecond laser pulses propagating in air at a kHz repetition rate and with several hundreds micro-joule-energy.A 10m-long filament and its breakup and merging at the nonlinear focal region produced by modulational instability of femtosecond laser pulses in air are observed.A simple model based on the nonlinear Schroedinger equation coupled with multiphoton ionization law is presented to explain the several experimental results. 相似文献

基于由光子晶体光纤飞秒激光器产生的高重复频率飞秒激光搭建了飞秒激光微加工系统,利用LabVIEW编写程序精密控制三维移动平台的移动路径和高速快门,在加工功率为1.5W、移动速率为1mm/s时,利用直写技术在无胶铬版上得到了微米量级的任意形状的平面衍射光栅。利用CCD相机对光栅制备过程进行实时监视,保证了光栅的加工质量。制备的光栅在显微镜下观察,条纹边缘清晰、线纹粗细均匀。使用He-Ne激光照射加工的光栅,可以获得清晰、稳定、与理论符合很好的夫琅和费(Frauhofer)衍射图样,显示了所加工的光栅具有良好的光学性能。实验结果也表明了光子晶体光纤飞秒激光在光栅制作过程中所具备的良好的加工性能。 相似文献

概述了2μm激光器的发展状况及应用背景, 通过对2 μm激光两种实现方式的比较,最终采用了可调谐方式间接获得2 μm激光的方案.以1.06 μm激光为泵浦源,采用二极管泵浦腔内OPO的方案能有效提高泵浦峰值功率密度,有利于实现高重复频率2 μm激光输出.利用KTP晶体在特定切割角度下实现波长简并输出,合理设计OPO腔,可以有效提高2 μm激光的输出效率.同时进行了激光输出实验,实现了功率11.2 W的2 μm波长激光输出. 相似文献

针对来流马赫数低于设计值时,吸气式冲压发动机进气道进气捕获率降低的问题,在唇口上游沉积高重频激光能量使气流偏折以提高进气捕获率。在马赫数为5.0、静压和静温分别为2 551.6 Pa和116.7 K的条件下,通过求解二维非定常可压缩RANS方程,数值研究了高重频激光能量注入提高进气捕获率的作用机制,通过在预想最优能量沉积点附近寻优的方法确定了最佳的能量注入点,结果表明:在该位置沉积频率100 kHz、平均功率500 W的激光能量形成的虚拟唇口可以使来流捕获率由63%提高至97%。结果证明了高重频激光能量注入提高进气捕获率的潜在应用价值,并为能量注入位置的优化选择提供了方法。 相似文献
