Rate of convergence for certain families of summation-integral type operators

In this paper, we study the rate of convergence for the iterative combinations of a certain family of linear positive operators in terms of higher-order integral modulus of smoothness. We have used the technique of linear approximating method, namely Steklov mean, to prove the main result. In the end, we propose some other sequences of linear positive operators and obtain the recurrence formulae for the central moments, Voronovskaja type asymptotic formulae and error estimations.     

Approximation of functions of two variables by certain linear positive operators

We introduce certain linear positive operators and study some approximation properties of these operators in the space of functions, continuous on a compact set, of two variables. We also find the order of this approximation by using modulus of continuity. Moreover we define an rth order generalization of these operators and observe its approximation properties. Furthermore, we study the convergence of the linear positive operators in a weighted space of functions of two variables and find the rate of this convergence using weighted modulus of continuity.     

Approximation properties of a generalization of positive linear operators

In the present paper we introduce a generalization of positive linear operators and obtain its Korovkin type approximation properties. The rates of convergence of this generalization is also obtained by means of modulus of continuity and Lipschitz type maximal functions. The second purpose of this paper is to obtain weighted approximation properties for the generalization of positive linear operators defined in this paper. Also we obtain a differential equation so that the second moment of our operators is a particular solution of it. Lastly, some Voronovskaja type asymptotic formulas are obtained for Meyer-König and Zeller type and Bleimann, Butzer and Hahn type operators.     

Equi-statistical convergence of positive linear operators

Balcerzak, Dems and Komisarski [M. Balcerzak, K. Dems, A. Komisarski, Statistical convergence and ideal convergence for sequences of functions, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 328 (2007) 715-729] have recently introduced the notion of equi-statistical convergence which is stronger than the statistical uniform convergence. In this paper we study its use in the Korovkin-type approximation theory. Then, we construct an example such that our new approximation result works but its classical and statistical cases do not work. We also compute the rates of equi-statistical convergence of sequences of positive linear operators. Furthermore, we obtain a Voronovskaya-type theorem in the equi-statistical sense for a sequence of positive linear operators constructed by means of the Bernstein polynomials.     

Convergence of derivatives for certain mixed Szasz-Beta operators

In this paper we study the mixed summation-integral type operators having Szasz and Beta basis functions in summation and integration, respectively, we obtain the rate of point-wise convergence, a Voronovskaja type asymptotic formula and an error estimate in simultaneous approximation.     

Riesz-type representation for positive linear operators preserving continuity

A Riesz-type representation theorem is given for all positive linear endomorphisms of the space of continuous functions on a compact interval.

Best constants for tensor products of Bernstein type operators

For the tensor product of k copies of the same one-dimensional Bernstein-type operator L, we consider the problem of finding the best constant in preservation of the usual modulus of continuity for the lp-norm on Rk. Two main results are obtained: the first one gives both necessary and sufficient conditions in order that 1+k1−1/p is the best uniform constant for a single operator; the second one gives sufficient conditions in order that 1+k1−1/p is the best uniform constant for a family of operators. The general results are applied to several classical families of operators usually considered in approximation theory. Throughout the paper, probabilistic concepts and methods play an important role.     

Bernstein-type operators on a triangle with all curved sides

We construct and analyze Bernstein-type operators on triangles with curved sides, their product and Boolean sum. We study the interpolation properties and approximation accuracy. Using the modulus of continuity we also study the remainders of the corresponding approximation formulas. Finally, there are given some particular cases and numerical examples.     

Direct local and global approximation theorems for some linear positive operators

In this paper we establish direct local and global approximation theorems for Baskakov type operators and Szasz - Mirakjan type operators, respectively.     

The equivalence relations between the best approximation and linear operators approximation in a Besov space

Approximation by polynomials with nonnegative coefficients and the spectral theory of positive operators

For a compact subset of symmetric with respect to conjugation and a continuous function, we obtain sharp conditions on and that insure that can be approximated uniformly on by polynomials with nonnegative coefficients. For a real Banach space, a closed but not necessarily normal cone with , and a bounded linear operator with , we use these approximation theorems to investigate when the spectral radius of belongs to its spectrum . A special case of our results is that if is a Hilbert space, is normal and the 1-dimensional Lebesgue measure of is zero, then . However, we also give an example of a normal operator (where is unitary and ) for which and .

     

Weighted approximation of continuous functions by sequences of linear positive operators

In this work we obtain, under suitable conditions, theorems of Korovkin type for spaces with different weight, composed of continuous functions defined on unbounded regions. These results can be seen as an extension of theorems by Gadjiev in [4] and [5].     

Global smoothness and uniform convergence of smooth Poisson-Cauchy type singular operators

In this article we introduce the smooth Poisson-Cauchy type singular integral operators over the real line. Here we study their simultaneous global smoothness preservation property with respect to the L_p norm, 1?p?∞, by involving higher order moduli of smoothness. Also we study their simultaneous approximation to the unit operator with rates involving the modulus of continuity with respect to the uniform norm. The produced Jackson type inequalities are almost sharp containing elegant constants, and they reflect the high order of differentiability of the engaged function.     

A certain family of summation-integral type operators

In the present paper, the authors introduce and investigate a new sequence of linear positive operators G_n,c, which includes some well-known operators as its special cases. The results obtained here include an estimate on the rate of convergence of G_n,c (f, x) by means of the decomposition technique for functions of bounded variation.     

A New Characterization of Weighted Peetre K-Functionals

The purpose of this paper is to present a characterization of certain types of generalized weighted Peetre K-functionals by means of a modulus of smoothness. This new modulus is based on the classical one taken on a certain linear transform of the function. A new modulus of smoothness which describes the best algebraic approximation is introduced.     

Szász–Mirakjan type operators providing a better error estimation

In this work, giving a modification of the well-known Szasz–Mirakjan operators, we prove that the error estimation of our operators is better than that of the classical Szasz–Mirakjan operators. Furthermore, we obtain a Voronovskaya type theorem for these modified operators.
