An Efficient Preparation of 4, 4′-Dicarboxy-2, 2′-Bipyridine

A convenient and high yield preparation of 4, 4′-dicarboxy-2, 2′-bipyridine from the oxidation 4, 4′-dimethyl-2, 2′-bipyridine with potassium dichromate in sulfuric acid is reported.     

Calorimetric study of 2′-methylacetophenone and 4′-methylacetophenone

Values of the condensed phase standard (p = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpy of formation for 2′- and 4′-methylacetophenones were derived from the standard molar energies of combustion, in oxygen, at T = 298.15 K, measured by static bomb combustion calorimetry. The values of the standard molar enthalpy of vaporization, at T = 298.15 K, were measured by Calvet microcalorimetry. Combining these two values, the following enthalpies of formation in the gas phase, at T = 298.15 K, were then derived: 2′-methylacetophenone, –(115.7 ± 2.4) kJ · mol⁻¹, and 4′-methylacetophenone, –(122.6 ± 2.4) kJ · mol⁻¹. Substituent effects are discussed in terms of stability and compared with other similar compounds. The value of the standard molar enthalpy of formation for 3′-methylacetophenone was estimated from isomerization schemes.

Some 2′-Modified 4′-Thionucleosides via Sulfur Participation and Synthesis of Thio-Azt from 4′-Thiofuranoid 1,2-Glycal

ThioAZT 14 was synthesized in eight steps from D-arabinose derivative 4 via the new thiofuranoid 1,2-glycal, 5-O-Acetyl-1,2,4-trideoxy-1,4-epithio-3-O-p-toluenesulfonyl-D- threo -pent-1-enitol ( 8 ). Ribosylation of the thiosugar 6 with thymine afforded regioselectively the nucleoside 16 . Treatment of 16 with sodium azide in hot DMF gave, after spontaneous intramolecular displacment, the 2'-azido-xylo derivative 18 , which furnished the free nucleoside 19 on treatment with methanolic ammonia. Similarly, treatment of 16 with sodium ethylthiolate in boiling methanol led to inversion in configuration and gave, after several intramolecular displacments, via the sulfur participation, the 2',3'-diethylthiolate-ribo derivative 23 . Deblocking of 23 with methanolic ammonia afforded the free nuclaoside 24 .     

Synthesis of 1′-substituted 4′,4′-dimethyl-6′-methoxy-4′H-spiro[cyclohexane-1,3′-isoquinolines]

The reaction of 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-(1-methylcyclohexyl)ethanol with nitriles in concentrated sulfuric acid afforded 1′-substituted 6′-methoxy-4′,4′-dimethyl-4′H-spiro[cyclohexane-1,3′-isoquinolines] as a result of consecutive Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement and Ritter reaction.     

Silica-gel-supported Ce(SO4)2·4H2O-mediated cyclization of 2′-amino and 2′-hydroxychalcones under solvent-free conditions

A simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly approach for the synthesis of flavones, aza-flavones, and aza-flavanones from corresponding 2′-hydroxy or 2′-aminochalcones has been developed. The reactions are successfully conducted in presence of silica-gel-supported Ce(SO₄)₂·4H₂O under solvent-free conditions.     

The Synthesis of a New Dumbbell-shaped Compound of Bis-4, 4′-bipyridine Bridged by 2, 2′-Bipyridine

The title compound 5 was synthesized in 45% yield by the reaction of compound 3 with α,α′-bis (bromomethyl)-2, 2′-bipyridine in CH3CN at 70℃ for 24 h.

Abstract

Some authors have shown that tetrahydropyrimidine-2-thiones are hydrated in acidic solution and then isomerise to the 2-imino-or 2-enamino-1,3-thiazine.     

Synthesis, crystal structure and electrochemical behavior of supramolecular complex [4, 4′-bipyH2][4, 4′-bipyH]2.5(P2Wl8O62)[4, 4′-bipyH1.5] · 2H2O

A Dawson-type supramolecular complex [4, 4′-bipyH₂][4, 4′-bipyH]_2.5 (P₂W_l8O₆₂)[4, 4′-bipyH_{1. 5}] · 2H₂O (1) has been synthesized hydrothermally and determined by means of IR, UV, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and X-ray single-crystal diffraction methods. Single crystal X-ray structural analysis reveals that the compound 1 exhibits 1D chains constructed from polyanions and 4, 4′-bipy molecules connected together by hydrogen bonds and weak contact. The 1D chains are assembled into 2D networks by weak contacts, and the intermolecular interaction of “water chains” is robust enough to really act as a “supramolecular glue” to assemble the 2D networks into 3D arrays. CV study reveals that compound 1 exhibits four chemically reversible processes.     

Synthesis of Steroidal Spiro-1′,2′,4′-triazolidine-3′-thiones

Steroidal ketone thiosemicarbazones (4–6), obtained from the corresponding ketones(1–3), on oxidative cyclization with H₂O₂ at 0°C provide title compounds (7–9), respectively. The structures of these compounds have been established on the basis of their elemental analytical and spectral data.     

An Improved Synthesis of 2′-Hydroxy-3′,4′,6′-trimethoxyacylophenones

A wide variety of 2′-hydroxypolymethoxyacetophenones and propiophenones, e.g. 1a and 1b are used in the synthesis of flavone and ehromone natural products.¹ Repeated attempts to prepare 1a and 1b by reacting 1,2,3,5-tetramethoxybenzene 2 with acetyl or propionyl chlorides and AlCl₃ in ether² gave products which were difficult to purify.³ We traced the problem to ring-ethoxy contaminants which were isolated and tentatively identified as 3a and 3b.

Microwave promoted one-pot synthesis of 3-(2′-amino-3′-cyano-4′-arylpyrid-6′-yl)coumarins

A facile procedure for the synthesis of 3-(2′-amino-3′-cyano-4′-arylpyrid-6′-yl)coumarins are being reported starting from 3- acetylcoumarin,aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile.The reactions were carded out on microwave irradiation in good yield with short time and easy work-up.The structures of all the compounds have been confirmed on the basis of their analytical,IR,~1H NMR, and mass spectral data.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of 3′-Ethyl 5′-Methyl 1-Benzyl-4′-methyl-2-oxo-3′,4′-dihydrospiro-[indoline-3,2′-pyrrole]-3′,5′-dicarboxylate

The crystal structure of the title compound(C24H24N2O5, Mr = 420.45) has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic, space group P1 with a = 8.991(1), b = 11.166(1), c = 11.169(1) , α = 91.413(2), β = 105.887(2), γ = 90.992(2)°, V = 1077.8(2) 3, Z = 2, Dc = 1.296 g/cm3, F(000) = 444, μ(MoKα) = 0.091 mm-1, the final R = 0.0466 and wR = 0.1507 for 4185 observed reflections(I 2σ(I)). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction data indicated intermolecular C(17)–H(17)O(4), C(5)–H(5)… O(4) hydrogen bonds and C–H…π interaction in the structure.

利用2,2′-联喹啉-4,4′-二羧酸钠(Na2bqdc),2,2-联吡啶与硫酸钴在溶剂热作用下合成了1个一维配位聚合物[Co(bqdc)(bipy)(H2O)]n(1)。通过元素分析、粉末衍射、红外、紫外光谱对配合物进行了表征,利用X射线单晶衍射仪测定了其晶体结构。中心CoⅡ离子分别与2个来自2,2-联喹啉-4,4-二羧酸钠配体的双齿羧基氧原子和1个来自配体的单齿羧基氧原子、辅助配体2,2-联吡啶上的2个N原子和1个水分子的氧原子配位,形成了1个稍微扭曲的八面体配位构型。紫外光谱实验表明,相对2,2′-联喹啉-4,4′-二羧酸钠配体,配合物的紫外光谱发生了少量的蓝移。对该配合物多晶样品的差热分析(TGA)表明该化合物在217℃后开始分解。     

Diastereoselective and enantioselective synthesis of 4′-aza analogues of 2′,3′-dideoxynucleosides

A diastereo- and enantioselective synthesis of 4′-aza analogues of 2′,3′-dideoxynucleosides has been designed by the strategy of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of a Vasella-type nitrone. The reaction leads to (1′R)- and (1′S)-4′-aza analogues of 2′,3′-dideoxythimidine and fluorouridine, in enantiomerically pure forms.     

Synthesis of 5,5′-Dialkyl-6,6′-dichloro-2, 2′-bipyridines

5,5′-Dialkyl-6,6′-dichloro-2,2′-bipyridines were synthesized starting from 3-substituted 2-chloro-6-iodopyridines using Pd-catalyzed coupling conditions. 6-Alkyl-3,5-dichloro-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-ones were excellent precursors for the synthesis of these functionalized 2-iodo-6-chloropyridines.
