A rigorous extraction of the deuteron charge form factors from tensor polarization data in elastic electron-deuteron scattering, at given values of the 4-momentum transfer, is presented. Then the world data for elastic electron-deuteron scattering is used to parameterize, in three different ways, the three electromagnetic form factors of the deuteron in the 4-momentum transfer range 0-7 fm−1. This procedure is made possible with the advent of recent polarization measurements. The parameterizations allow a phenomenological characterization of the deuteron electromagnetic structure. They can be used to remove ambiguities in the form factors extraction from future polarization data. Received: 28 January 2000 / Revised version: 25 February 2000  相似文献

The electromagnetic form factor of deuteron is calculated here on the basis of a model of hadrons which incorporates a particular lepton-hadron relation. In view of this model, the pionic electromagnetic form factor is found to be the main contributing factor and when double scattering effect as envisaged by Glauber is taken into account, the results are found to be in nice agreement with experiments.  相似文献

Corrections of two-photon exchange to proton and neutron electromagnetic form factors are employed to study the effect of two-photon exchange on the deuteron electromagnetic form factors. Pionic disintegration of the deuteron between threshold and the 3,3 resonance region is described by a model containing one- and two-body absorption. The two-body absorption mechanism is due to pion and ?-meson rescattering calculated from phenomenological Lagrangians. The role of the ?-meson is crucial in reducing the cross section due to pion exchange. The role of the mass distribution of the ρ-meson, hadronic form factors and final state interactions are investigated. Good agreement with empirical results for the total cross section is obtained with a set of currently accepted values for the meson-nucleon coupling constants and the ρ-mass distribution.  相似文献

It is shown how high-energy neutrino beams from very distant sources can be utilized to learn about some properties of neutrinos such as lifetimes. Furthermore, even mixing elements such as Ue3 and the CP-violating phase in the neutrino mixing matrix can be measured in principle. Pseudo-Dirac mass differences as small as 10?18 eV2 can be probed as well.  相似文献

The main goal of the paper is to give a short review on neutrino electromagnetic properties. In the introductory part of the paper a summary on what we really know about neutrinos is given: we discuss the basics of neutrino mass and mixing as well as the phenomenology of neutrino oscillations. This is important for the following discussion on neutrino electromagnetic properties that starts with a derivation of the neutrino electromagnetic vertex function in the most general form, that follows from the requirement of Lorentz invariance, for both the Dirac and Majorana cases. Then, the problem of the neutrino form factor definition and calculation within gauge models is considered. In particular, we discuss the neutrino electric charge form factor and charge radius, dipole magnetic and electric and anapole form factors. Available experimental constraints on neutrino electromagnetic properties are also discussed, and the recently obtained experimental limits on neutrino magnetic moments are reviewed. The most important neutrino electromagnetic processes involving a direct neutrino coupling with photons (such as neutrino radiative decay, neutrino Cherenkov radiation, spin light of neutrino and plasmon decay into neutrino-antineutrino pair in media) and neutrino resonant spin-flavor precession in a magnetic field are discussed at the end of the paper.  相似文献

A nonrelativistic calculation of the elastic electron deuteron scattering has been performed in which the effects arising from nucleon polarization have been systematically investigated. These effects have been taken into account by admixing isobar configurations into the deuteron wave function. Explicit expressions for the various contributions to the respective deuteron form factors have been given. At higher momentum transfers inclusion of the isobar configurations leads to a substantial increase in the form factors which qualitatively appears to account for at least some of the discrepancies between theory and experiment.  相似文献

We derive general expressions for isoscalar electromagnetic form factors of nuclei including meson-exchange processes such as π, ?, ω and ?πγ exchange. Meson-nucleon vertices for nonzero momentum transfer as well as the effect of the finite width of the ?-meson are taken care of. Specifically, the electromagnetic form factors of the deuteron are calculated up to a momentum transfer of q2 ≈ 200 fm?2. A detailed numerical discussion of the various effects on meson-exchange processes is given. The effect of different deuteron wave functions and two types of photon-nucleon form factors are also discussed.  相似文献

It is shown that short range unitary transformations on the deuteron wave function of the super-soft-core potential of de Tourreil and Sprung, which fix the percentageD state of the deuteronP D, do not simultaneously fix the peak valueM of the electromagnetic quadrupole form factor of the deuteron within small error bars, even when the transformed wave functions are required to fit the quadrupole moment and the electric form factor of the deuteron within narrow limits. However there is a strong correlation betweenP D andM 2 for realistic interactions whose deuteron wave functions are suppressed at short distances.  相似文献

The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) experiment was constructed by an international scientific collaboration primarily to provide a clear determination of whether solar neutrinos change their flavor in transit from the core of the sun to the earth. The detector used 1000 tonnes of heavy water (>99.92% D2O) in an ultra‐clean location 2 km underground in INCO's Creighton mine near Sudbury, Canada to observe two separate reactions of neutrinos on deuterium. The first reaction was sensitive only to electron flavor neutrinos and the second reaction was equally sensitive to all neutrino flavors. The measurements by SNO showed clearly that the hypothesis of no neutrino flavor change was ruled out by more than 5.3 standard deviations. The observation of flavor change for neutrinos implies that they have a non‐zero mass. The measured total flux of active neutrinos from 8B decay in the sun was found to be in excellent agreement with the predictions of solar model calculations. The cross section of neutrino disintegration of the deuteron with inclusion of relativistic corrections is calculated. The transition only to1S0-state is taken into account, so the results are valid for reactor and meson factory energies. Comparison with earlier works is given. It is shown, that accurate choice of bound state wave function is essential for the final results. The relativistic approach developed in this work should be used as a starting point for calculations of meson exchange current corrections.  相似文献

We calculate the neutrino nucleus cross sections for charged lepton production relevant for the experiments proposed with the stopped muon neutrinos using neutron spallation source facility. The calculations are done in local density approximation taking into account Pauli blocking, Fermi motion effects and renormalization of weak transition strengths in the nuclear medium. The effect of Coulomb distortion of the lepton produced in charge current reactions is taken into account by using the Fermi function as well as in a model where an effective momentum has been used for the lepton moving in the local Coulomb field of the final nucleus. The numerical results for the neutrino nucleus total cross sections averaged over Michel spectrum are presented for various nuclei.  相似文献
