Within an operator-product expansion, the problem of the quark-mass dependence of the heavy-flavor contribution to the structure function F 2 in the current-fragmentation region is considered at high values of the momentum transfer squared Q 2. A linear combination of the structure functions F 2 c and F 2 is found that possesses a specific scaling property for Q 2 → ∞ at small fixed values of the Bjorken variable x. A lower bound on the ratio F 2 c /F 2 is calculated and is compared with data obtained at the HERA collider.  相似文献

The BFKL and the unified angular-ordered equations are solved to determine the gluon distribution at smallx. The impact of kinematic constraints is investigated. Predictions are made for observables sensitive to the gluon at smallx. We investigate shadowing corrections to the polarized deuteron structure functions g 1 d and b1. In the kinematic domain of current fixed target experiments we observe that shadowing effects in g 1 d are approximately twice as large as for the unpolarized structure function F 2 d . Furthermore, we find that b1 is surprisingly large at x < 0.1 and receives dominant contributions from coherent double scattering.  相似文献

The perturbative QCD is applied to calculation of nuclear shadowing correction to the deuterium structure functionF 2 D (x) atx«1. This correction is shown to be numerically large. It is emphasized that the neglect of nuclear shadowing leads to underestimating of the neutron structure functionF 2 n (x) and, as a result, to gross overestimating of the Gottfried integral \(\int_0^1 {\left[ {F_2^P (x) - F_2^n (x)} \right]} dx/x\)   相似文献

We analyse the restrictions imposed by supersymmetric Ward identities on the dimension-six condensates in supersymmetric gluodynamics. It is shown that the system of the Ward identities admits a nonzero value for the four-fermion condensate \(\left\langle {\left( {\lambda \sigma _\mu T^a \bar \lambda } \right)^2 } \right\rangle _0 \) while 〈f abc F μν a F νρ b F ρμ c 0 must vanish.  相似文献

The structure function F 2 c is evaluated within the charm-production model based on perturbative QCD. The results are compared with H1 and ZEUS data obtained at the HERA collider. It is shown that, for D*-meson production, the spectator mechanism, which is independent of the flavors of the hadronic-remnant quarks, comes into play for p T >10 GeV and that, in calculating charm production in the kinematical domain studied at the HERA collider, it is not necessary to take into account the evolution of the c-quark distribution in the initial-state hadron.  相似文献

Recent accurate data on F 2(x,Q) and on F 2 c (x,Q) from HERA at small-x require a more precise treatment of charm production in the global analysis of parton distributions. We improve on existing global QCD analyses by implementing the leptoproduction formalism of Aivazis et al. which represents a natural generalization of the conventional zero mass QCD parton framework to include heavy quark mass effects. We also perform analyses based on the fixed-flavor-number scheme, which is widely used in the literature, and demonstrate their uses and limitations. We discuss the implications of the improved treatment of heavy quark mass effect in practical applications of PQCD and compare our results with recent related works.  相似文献

In the first holographic bubble chamber experiment — the HOBC experiment — we have accumulated a total of 40000 holograms with particle interactions. We have determined the total charm pair cross section inpN collisions to be 23.3 ?7.7 +10 μb and 3.6 ?1.7 +2.3 μb for 360 and 200 GeV/c incident protons respectively. We have assumed a linear dependence of the cross section on the atomic number of the target. This experiment has demonstrated the feasibility of holographic recording in small bubble chambers. Assuming that the charm cross section can be described by the standard QCD factorized expression with gluon fusion and quark-antiquark annihilation, we have used our measured charm cross sections with other measurements to determine the effective charmed quark mass to be 1.8 ?0.35 +0.25 GeV/c2. TheK factor, which describes the importance of the higher order corrections, is calculated to be 9.8 ?6.9 +12.5 (See noted added in proof.)  相似文献

Utilizing very recent deep inelastic scattering measurements, a QCD analysis of proton structure function ${F_{2}^{p} (x,Q^2)}$ is presented. A wide range of the inclusive neutral-current deep-inelastic-scattering (NC DIS) data used in order to extract an updated set of parton distribution functions (PDFs). The HERA ‘combined’ data set on ${\sigma_{r,NC}^\pm (x,Q^2)}$ together with all available published data for heavy quarks ${F_2^{c,b}(x,Q^2)}$ , longitudinal F L (x, Q 2) and also very recent reduced DIS cross section ${\sigma_{r,NC}^\pm (x,Q^2)}$ data from HERA experiments are the input in the present next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD analysis which determines a new set of parton distributions, called ${{\tt KKT11C}}$ . The extracted PDFs in the ‘fixed flavour number scheme’ (FFNS) are in very good agreement with the available theoretical models.  相似文献

We propose a modified version of the quark cluster model to describe the structure functions of nuclei over the complete kinematical region of the variables x = Q 2/2m N ν and Q 2. The model accounts for shadowing effects at very small x and anti-shadowing in the region 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.3. The experimental observation that the ratio of structure functions F 2 A /F 2 D is less than unity in the region x ? 0.5 is related to the influence of multiquark clusters. The model agrees with all available data on nuclear structure fuctions for a large variety of nuclei, and can be used to make predictions for kinematical regions not yet studied experimentally.  相似文献

A method of simultaneous parametrization of one- and two-body interactions on atomic hyperfine structure of configurationl N is proposed and applied for the analysis of the configuration (6p)3 in the bismuth atom. For this purpose, the hyperfine structure splittings of the levels2D 3 2/0 ,2D 5 2/0 and2P 1 2/0 were measured. The finally obtained values of HFS parameters are: for one-body parameters (in MHz):a p 01 =2,537(9),a p 12 =5,182 (12),a10=?2,019(10),b p 02 =?3,198(53),b p 11 =2,816(54); for two-body parameters (in MHz):x pp ′/01 ,2=284(3),x pp ′/12 ,2=581(5),x pf ′/12 ,2=170(70),x pp ′/02 ,2=?359(36),x pf ′/02 ,2=?33(100). The value of the quadrupole moment of the nucleus 83 209 Bi is also discussed.  相似文献

We extend methods of high temperature expansions to show that for even weakly coupledP(?)2 quantum field models the Bethe-Salpeter kernel has 4 particle decay. More precisely ifK denotes the Euclidean Bethe-Salpeter kernel $$|K(x_1 ,x_2 ,x_3 ,x_4 )| \leqq Oe^{ - m_0 (1 - \varepsilon )d_2 } ,$$ wherex=(x 0,x 1),d 2=2|x 1 0 +x 2 0 ?x 3 0 ?x 4 0 |+|x 1 0 ?x 2 0 |+|x 3 0 ?x 4 0 | and ε(λ)→0 as λ→0. Spin effects in the weak two-body hadronic decays of the B c and B c * mesons into J/ψ and ρ(π) mesons are considered within the model of hard one-gluon exchange between quarks at high momentum transfers. It is shown that the polarization of the J/ψ meson in the decays of the B c * meson differs substantially from that in the decays of the B c * meson. The decay widths of the B c * meson differ significantly from the widths of the B c * meson.  相似文献

Experimental data are presented for the position of phase boundaries “orthorhombic-rhombohedral structure” and “semiconductor-metal” in manganites of La1 ? c + x Sr c ? x 2+ Mn1 ? x Me x 2+ O3 + γ (Me = Mg, Zn, Ni) systems depending on the concentration of substituting divalent cations (0.15 ≤ c ≤ 0.35; 0.025 ≤ x ≤ 0.100).  相似文献

The vacuum state of gluonic quantum chromodynamics on the lattice is determined up to fifth order in a 1/N c expansion (N c=number of colours). The vacuum expectation value of the gluon field squaredF aμvF a μv is deduced. The quark-antiquark and gluon-gluon potential is calculated in the same limit up to the 1/N c 3 order.  相似文献

A direct analysis of all data on the nonsinglet combination of electromagnetic structure functionsF 2 p ?F 2 n is shown to yield a value of the QCD scale-breaking parameter \(\Lambda _{\overline {{\rm M}S} } = 0.36 \pm 0.16\) Gev, in good agreement with that obtained from non-singlet neutrino data. The ratiod v /u v , extracted using the results of a previous neutrino analysis, shows an excess of up-quarks to down-quarks of about a factor of five at largex.  相似文献

Structural, electrical and Mössbauer studies were carried out for the system Zn1?xCo x Fe MnO4. It is observed that forx?0.6, the ionic configuration of the system is Zn 1?x 2+ Mn x 2+ [Co x 3+ Mn 1?x 3+ Fe3+]O 4 2? and forx?0.8 Fe3+ ions occupy tetrahedral site also. On the basis of electrical and Mössbauer studies a probable valence distribution of CoMnFeO4 has been suggested. All the compounds showed positive values of thermoelectric coefficient and electrical conduction takes place by a hopping mechanism. Activation energy and thermoelectric coefficient values decreased with decrease in concentration of Zn2+ ions. The compounds possess low mobility values varying between 10?7 and 10?9 cm2/V sec.  相似文献
