The process of charm quark fragmentation is studied using D
* ± meson production in deep-inelastic scattering as measured by the H1 detector at HERA. The parameters of fragmentation functions
are extracted for QCD models based on leading order matrix elements and DGLAP or CCFM evolution of partons together with string
fragmentation and particle decays. Additionally, they are determined for a next-to-leading order QCD calculation in the fixed
flavour number scheme using the independent fragmentation of charm quarks to D
* ± mesons. Two different regions of phase space are investigated defined by the presence or absence of a jet containing the
D
* ± meson in the event. The fragmentation parameters extracted for the two phase space regions are found to be different.

The study of the properties of inclusive production of D
s
mesons and of events in which a and a muon are present in the same jet provides two independent measurements of the probability, f
s
w
, for a heavy quark to hadronize into a strange B or D meson. The data sample analysed corresponds to 243,000 hadronic Z
0 decays. The combined value of these measurements is f
s
w
=0.19±0.06±0.08. From the flight distance distributions of D
s and of (-lepton) secondary vertices, with the lepton emitted at high transverse momentum relative to the jet axis, two values are obtained for the B
s
0
meson lifetime. Combining these measurements with a previous result based on the study of D
s- events, the B
s
0
meson lifetime is measured to be: 0.96±0.37 ps. 相似文献

We present measurements of the hadronic photon structure function F

close to the Z

– luminosity of 44.8 pb –1. In the context of a QCD-based model we find the quark transverse momentum cutoff separating the vector meson dominance (VMD) and perturbative QCD regions to be 0.27±0.10 GeV. We confirm that there is a significant pointlike component of the photon when the probe photon has Q

We have measured the R value in non-resonant e

GeV the ratio of the hadronic cross-section to the -pair cross section in lowest order QED has been determined to be R=3.46±0.03±0.13. In addition, we have measured the charged-particle multiplicities in non-resonant hadron production at
GeV just below the B
threshold and in (4 S) resonance decays. For the average charged-particle multiplicities in continuum events and (4 S) B
decays we obtain n> cont=8.35±0.02±0.20 and n> (4s)=10.81±0.05±0.23.Supported by the German Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie, Contract no. 054DO51P 相似文献

The axial coupling and the magnetic moment of D
∗-meson or, more specifically, the couplings gD*Dpg_{D^{\ast}D\pi} and gD*Dgg_{D^{\ast}D\gamma }, encode the non-perturbative QCD effects describing the decays D
∗→ Dπ and D
∗→ Dγ. We compute these quantities by means of lattice QCD with N
f=2 dynamical quarks, by employing the Wilson (“ clover”) action. On our finer lattice ( a≈0.065 fm) we obtain gD*Dp+=20±2g_{D^{\ast}D\pi^{+}}=20\pm2, and gD*0 D0g=2.0±0.6 GeV -1g_{D^{\ast0} D^{0}\gamma}=2.0\pm 0.6~{\rm GeV}^{-1}. This is the first determination of gD*0 D0gg_{D^{\ast0} D^{0}\gamma} on the lattice. We also provide a short phenomenological discussion and the comparison of our result with experiment and
with the results quoted in the literature. 相似文献

The measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry A FB and the effective weak mixing angle with the Drell-Yan process at the LHC is presented. The samples of 2011 collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb ?1 and 1.1 fb ?1, were used. The results are consistent with the standard model expectations. 相似文献

2. It is based on an operator product expansion (OPE) for the required matrix elements of the nonleptonic weak Hamiltonian
in this kinematic regime. Our treatment differs from previous work by a simplified operator basis, the explicit calculation
of matrix elements of subleading operators, and by a quantitative estimate of duality violation. The latter point is discussed
in detail, including the connection with the existence of an OPE and an illustration within a simple toy model. 相似文献

CLEO-c measurements of the timelike form factors F
π

K
at ? s=3.671\sqrt{s}=3.671 GeV provide a direct probe of power corrections (PC’s) at energies near m
B
. PC’s in F
π,K
and B→ Kπ, ππ are separated into perturbative and soft parts. In F
π,K
the latter are ≥ O(10) larger. A PC fit to the B→ Kπ, ππ data also yields a ≥ O(10) soft-to-perturbative hierarchy for the QCD penguin PC’s. Hence, both can be attributed to dominance of the soft-overlap
between energetic (approximately) back-to-back collinear partons, and consistency of the B→ Kπ, ππ fit with the Standard Model appears to be naturally realized. The CP asymmetries SKs p0S_{K_{s} \pi^{0}}, CKs p0C_{K_{s} \pi^{0}} are well determined, providing a clean test for new physics. 相似文献

The associated production of a dark particle and photon, represented as a mono- γ event, is a promising channel to probe particle content and dynamics in the dark sector. In this study, we investigate the properties of the mono- γ production of vector dark matter at future \begin{document}$ e^+e^- $\end{document}![]() ![]() colliders. Photon-like and Pauli operators as well as triple gauge boson interactions involving dark matter are considered in the framework of effective field theory. We show that, in comparison with the Pauli operator, the triple gauge boson couplings are significantly more interesting in high energy colliders. Beam polarization effects are also analyzed, and we show that the experimental sensitivities cannot be significantly enhanced because of the smaller luminosity. 相似文献

An analysis of effects induced by new neutral gauge Z′ bosons was performed on the basis of data from the OPAL, DELPHI, ALEPH, and L3 experiments devoted to measuring differential
cross sections for the process of the annihilation production of pairs of charged gauge W
± bosons at the LEP2 collider. By using these experimental data, constraints on the Z′-boson mass and on the angle of Z-Z′ mixing were obtained for a number of extended gauge models. 相似文献

We study the structure of nonstrange baryons by analytically calculating the electromagnetic transition helicity amplitudes of the nucleon and Δ resonances. We employ an improved hypercentral constituent quark model and obtain the corresponding eigenenergies and eigenfunctions in closed forms. Then, we calculate the transverse and longitudinal helicity amplitudes for nucleon and Δ resonances. The comparison of evaluated observables and experimental data indicates good agreement between the proposed model and available data. 相似文献

The production of beauty quarks with a and a muon in the final state has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 114 pb -1. Low transverse-momentum thresholds for the muon and D * meson allow for a measurement of beauty production closer to the production threshold than previous measurements. The beauty
signal was extracted using the charge correlations and angular distributions of the muon with respect to the D * meson. Cross sections for photoproduction and deep inelastic scattering are somewhat higher than, but compatible with, next-to-leading-order
QCD predictions, and compatible with other measurements. 相似文献

(selectron) promptly decays into a photon (electron) and a gravitino. We explicitly give the helicity amplitudes for the production
processes by using the effective goldstino interaction Lagrangian, and present the cross sections with different collision
energies and mass spectra. We also examine selection efficiencies by kinematical cuts and beam polarizations for the signal
and background processes, and show that the energy and angular distributions of the photon (electron) can explore the mass
of the t-channel exchange particle as well as the mass of the decaying particle at a future e

Heavy quark effective theory predicts that produced charm quarks have the same probability to fragment into any of the four D mesons with orbital angular momentum L=0 : the singlet D state and the triplet D ∗ states. This would imply PV(D ∗,D)=3/4 , where PV is the ratio between directly produced L=0 vector states (D ∗) and all L=0 (D and D ∗) states. Experimental data collected in several different collision systems (e +e −, hadro-production, photo-production, etc.) and over a broad range of collision energies, show that PV(D ∗,D)=0.594±0.010 . From this observation, it follows that “naive spin counting” does not apply to charm production, implying a revision of charm production calculations where this assumption is made. 相似文献
