Reversed hazard function is widely applied in reliability analysis. This paper considers the human uncertainty in a system, and employs uncertain variable to model the lifetime of a component. Concepts of mean residual life and residual entropy are proposed to describe a failed system, and their relationships with the reversed hazard function are discussed. In addition, this paper provides some applications of reversed hazard function to the mean past lifetime and past entropy.  相似文献

In this paper, we have derived the distribution of the minimum and maximum of two independent Poisson random variables. A useful procedure for computing the probabilities is given and a total of four numerical examples are presented. Of these four examples, the first two are on the generated data and the other two are on the Champion League Soccer data in order to illustrate the model which is considered here. The hazard rate and the reversed hazard rate, of the minimum and maximum of two independent discrete random variables, are also obtained and their monotonicity is investigated. The results for the Poisson-distributed variables are obtained as special cases.  相似文献

In this paper we first point out a simple observation that can be used successfully in order to translate results about the hazard rate order into results about the reversed hazard rate order. Using it, we derive some interesting new results which compare order statistics in the hazard and in the reversed hazard rate orders; as well as in the usual stochastic order. We also simplify proofs of some known results involving the reversed hazard rate order. Finally, a few further applications of the observation are given.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce an extension of the half-normal distribution in order to model a great variety of non-negative data. Its hazard rate function can be decreasing or increasing, depending on its parameters. Some properties of this new distribution are presented. For example, we give a general expression for the moments and a stochastic representation. Also, the cumulative distribution function, the hazard rate function, the survival function and the quantile function can be easily evaluated. Maximum likelihood estimators can be computed by using numerical procedures. Finally, a real-life dataset has been presented to illustrate its applicability.  相似文献

Using a suitable decomposition of the null hypothesis of the sphericity test for several blocks of variables, into a sequence of conditionally independent null hypotheses, we show that it is possible to obtain the expressions for the likelihood ratio test statistic, for its hth null moment, and for the characteristic function of its logarithm. The exact distribution of the logarithm of the likelihood ratio test statistic is obtained in the form of a sum of a generalized integer gamma distribution with the sum of a given number of independent logbeta distributions, taking the form of a single generalized integer gamma distribution when each set of variables has two variables. The development of near‐exact distributions arises, from the previous decomposition of the null hypothesis and from the consequent‐induced factorization of the characteristic function, as a natural and practical way to approximate the exact distribution of the test statistic. A measure based on the exact and approximating characteristic functions, which gives an upper bound on the distance between the corresponding distribution functions, is used to assess the quality of the near‐exact distributions proposed and to compare them with an asymptotic approximation on the basis of Box's method. A general goodness-of-fit test for scale-parameter families of distributions is introduced, which is based on quotients of expected sample minima. The test is independent of the mean of the distribution, and, in applications to testing for exponentiality of data, compares favorably to other goodness-of-fit tests for exponentiality based on the empirical distribution function, regression methods and correlation statistics. The new minimal-moment method uses ratios of easily-calculated, unbiased, strongly consistent U-statistics, and the general technique can be used to test many standard composite null hypotheses such as exponentiality, normality or uniformity (as well as simple null hypotheses).  相似文献

Abstract

This article proposes a method for nonparametric estimation of hazard rates as a function of time and possibly multiple covariates. The method is based on dividing the time axis into intervals, and calculating number of event and follow-up time contributions from the different intervals. The number of event and follow-up time data are then separately smoothed on time and the covariates, and the hazard rate estimators obtained by taking the ratio. Pointwise consistency and asymptotic normality are shown for the hazard rate estimators for a certain class of smoothers, which includes some standard approaches to locally weighted regression and kernel regression. It is shown through simulation that a variance estimator based on this asymptotic distribution is reasonably reliable in practice. The problem of how to select the smoothing parameter is considered, but a satisfactory resolution to this problem has not been identified. The method is illustrated using data from several breast cancer clinical trials.  相似文献

In this paper, the gamma distribution has been extended by adding an extra shape parameter, we refer to the new distribution as alpha power gamma distribution. It is found that the distribution has a relatively flexible hazard rate function. The properties of the new distribution are studied, including explicit expressions for the $s^{\text{th}}$ raw moments, moment generating function and distributions of order statistics are derived. Also, the integral expressions for the entropy, mean residual life and mean waiting time are obtained. The maximum likelihood estimators of the distribution parameters under complete sample are discussed, the Fisher information matrix is derived. Then, the estimation of the parameters under the general progressive type-II censoring is studied. Finally, the real data set is used to illustrate the practicality of the proposed distribution.  相似文献

In this paper a class of goodness-of-fit tests for the Rayleigh distribution is proposed. The tests are based on a weighted integral involving the empirical Laplace transform. The consistency of the tests as well as their asymptotic distribution under the null hypothesis are investigated. As the decay of the weight function tends to infinity the test statistics approach limit values. In a particular case the resulting limit statistic is related to the first nonzero component of Neyman’s smooth test for this distribution. The new tests are compared with other omnibus tests for the Rayleigh distribution.  相似文献

We propose a new weighted integral goodness-of-fit statistic for exponentiality. The statistic is motivated by a characterization of the exponential distribution via the mean residual life function. Its limit null distribution is the same as that of a certain weighted integral of the squared Brownian bridge. A class of affine-invariant test statistics, including a sign test and a related family of signed-rank tests, is proposed for randomized complete block designs with one observation per treatment. This class is obtained by using the transformation-retransformation approach of Chakraborty, Chaudhuri and Oja along with a directional transformation due to Tyler. Under the minimal assumption of directional symmetry of the underlying distribution, the null asymptotic distribution of the sign test statistic is shown to be chi-square with p-1 degrees of freedom. The same null distribution is also proved for the family of signed-rank statistics under the assumption of symmetry of the underlying distribution. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiencies of the tests, relative to Hotelling-Hsu's T2 are established. Several score functions are discussed including a simple linear score function and the optimal normal score function. The test based on the linear score function is compared to the other members of this family and other statistics in the literature through efficiency calculations and Monte Carlo simulations. This statistic has an excellent performance over a wide range of distributions and for small as well as large dimensions.  相似文献

This paper has to do with a Cramér-von Mises test for symmetry of the error distribution in a class of absolutely regular and non-necessarily stationary heteroscedastic models. The test statistic is based on the empirical characteristic function. Its convergence, as well as that of the residual-based empirical distribution function are established. From these results, the null cumulative distribution function of the test statistic is approximated. A simulation experiment shows that the test performs well on the examples tested.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a probabilistic analogue of the mean value theorem for conditional nonnegative random variables ordered in the hazard rate and reversed hazard rate order, upon conditioning on intervals of the form (t,) and [0,t]. This result is then specialized within the proportional hazards model and the proportional reversed hazards model with applications to series systems in reliability theory and to absorption random times of linear birth‐death processes. We also study the comparison of residual entropies and discuss some connections to Wasserstein and stop‐loss distances of random variables. A treatment for the additive hazard rate model is finally provided, with an application to life annuities.  相似文献

A new generalized linear exponential distribution (NCLED) is considered in this paper which can be deemed as a new and more flexible extension of linear exponential distribution. Some statistical properties for the NGLED such as the hazard rate function, moments, quantiles are given. The maximum likelihood estimations (MLE) of unknown parameters are also discussed. A simulation study and two real data analyzes are carried out to illustrate that the new distribution is more flexible and effective than other popular distributions in modeling lifetime data.  相似文献

We propose a score statistic to test the null hypothesis that the two-component density functions are equal under a semiparametric finite mixture model. The proposed score test is based on a partial empirical likelihood function under an I-sample semiparametric model. The proposed score statistic has an asymptotic chi-squared distribution under the null hypothesis and an asymptotic noncentral chi-squared distribution under local alternatives to the null hypothesis. Moreover, we show that the proposed score test is asymptotically equivalent to a partial empirical likelihood ratio test and a Wald test. We present some results on a simulation study.  相似文献
