This paper describes the fabrication, characterisation and the application of a Nafion/2,2′-bipyridyl/bismuth composite film-coated glassy carbon electrode (NC(Bpy)BiFE) for the anodic stripping voltammetric determination of trace metal ions (Zn2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+). The NC(Bpy)BiFE electrode is prepared by first applying a 2.5 mm3 drop of a coating solution containing 0.5 wt% Nafion and 0.1% (w/v) 2,2′-bipyridil (Bpy) onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode, while the Bi film was plated in situ simultaneously with the target metal ions at −1.4 V. The main advantage of the polymer coated bismuth film electrode is that the sensitivity of the stripping responses is increased considerably due to the incorporation of the neutral chelating agent of 2,2′-bipyridyl (Bpy) in the Nafion film, while the Nafion coating improved the mechanical stability of the bismuth film and its resistance to the interference of surfactants. The key experimental parameters relevant to both the electrode fabrication and the voltammetric measurement were optimized on the basis of the stripping signals. With a 2 min deposition time in the presence of oxygen, linear calibration curves were obtained in a wide concentration range (about 2-0.001 μM) with detection limits of 8.6 nM (0.56 μg dm−3) for Zn2+, 1.1 nM (0.12 μg dm−3) for Cd2+ and 0.37 nM (0.077 μg dm−3) for Pb2+. For nine successive preconcentration/determination/electrode renewal experiments the standard deviations were between 3 and 5% at 1.2 μM for zinc and 0.3-0.3 μM concentration level for lead and cadmium, respectively, and the method exhibited excellent selectivity in the presence of the excess of several potential interfering metal ions. The analytical utility of the stripping voltammetric method elaborated was tested in the assay of heavy metals in some real samples and the method was validated by ICP-MS technique.  相似文献

The determination of zinc ion (1-60 ng ml−1) by anodic square-wave stripping voltammetry on an anion-exchange perfluorinated polymer Tosflex mercury film electrodes (TMFE) was evaluated. The detection limit was 0.1 ng ml−1 Zn(II). The effect of various organic compounds (gelatin, albumin, starch, camphor, humic acid, Triton X-100, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)) is explored. The results indicate that due to the size-exclusion and ion-exchange properties of Tosflex film, the TMFE is considerably more resistant to organic interference than the bare mercury film electrode.  相似文献

New insights into the functioning, i.e. electrochemical behaviour and analytical performance, of in situ prepared antimony film electrodes (SbFEs) under square-wave anodic stripping (SW-ASV) and cyclic (CV) voltammetry conditions are presented by studying several key operational parameters using Pb(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) as model analyte ions. Five different carbon- and metal-based substrate transducer electrodes revealed a clear advantage of the former ones while the concentration of the precursor Sb(III) ion exhibited a distinct influence on the ASV functioning of the SbFE. Among six acids examined as potential supporting electrolytes the HNO3 was demonstrated to yield nearly identical results in conducting ASV experiments with SbFE as so far almost exclusively used HCl. This is extremely important as HNO3 is commonly employed acidifying agent in trace metal analysis, especially in elemental mass spectrometry measurements. By carrying out a systematic CV and ASV investigation using a medium exchange protocol, we confirmed the formation of poorly soluble oxidized Sb species at the substrate electrode surface at the end of each stripping step, i.e. at the potentials beyond the anodic dissolution of the antimony film. Hence, the significance of the cleaning and initializing the surface of a substrate electrode after accomplishing a stripping step was thoroughly studied in order to find conditions for a complete removal of the adhered Sb-oxides and thus to assure a memory-free functioning of the in situ prepared SbFE. Finally, the practical analytical application of the proposed ASV method was successfully tested and evaluated by measuring the three metal analytes in ground (tap) and surface (river) water samples acidified with HNO3. Our results approved the appropriateness of the SbFE and the proposed method for measuring low μg L−1 levels of some toxic metals, particularly taking into account the possibility of on-field testing and the use of low cost instrumentation.  相似文献

An adsorptive stripping voltammetric procedure for the determination of U(VI) at an in situ plated lead film electrode is described. The U(VI) complex with cupferron was accumulated from an acetate buffer solution of pH 4.2 at the potential −0.65 V. The measurements were carried out from undeaerated solutions. The calibration graph for an accumulation time of 180 s was linear from 5 × 10−10 to 2 × 10−8 mol L−1. The detection limit was 2 × 10−10 mol L−1, the relative standard deviation for 2 × 10−8 mol L−1 U(VI) was 4.3%. The proposed procedure was validated in the course of U(VI) determination in water certified reference materials.  相似文献

Adsorptive stripping voltammetry is a very sensitive and selective method for determination of drugs and organic substances in biological fluids. We have shown that determination of testosterone by adsorptive stripping voltammetry is possible using a lead film electrode. The lead film plating process and accumulation of testosterone were performed simultaneously from an acetate buffer solution of pH = 5.2 at a potential of −1.1 V. The measurements were carried out in undeaerated solutions. The detection limit was 9 × 10−9 mol L−1 for an accumulation time of 120 s; the relative standard deviation for 1 × 10−7 mol L−1 testosterone was 3.8%. The proposed voltammetric procedure for determination of testosterone could be applied to its determination in a pharmaceutical preparation and human urine samples directly without any separation steps.  相似文献

An in situ plated lead film electrode has been applied for adsorptive stripping voltammetric determination of trace concentrations of molybdenum in the presence of Alizarin S. The procedure is based on the preconcentration of the molybdenum-Alizarin S complex at an in situ plated lead film electrode held at −0.6 V (versus Ag/AgCl), followed by a negatively sweeping square wave voltammetric scan. The peak current is proportional to the concentration of molybdenum over the range 2 × 10−9 to 5 × 10−8 mol L−1, with a 3σ detection limit of 9 × 10−10 mol L−1 with an accumulation time of 60 s. The measurements were carried out from underaerated solutions. The proposed procedure was validated in the course of Mo(VI) determination in water certified reference materials.  相似文献

Bismuth film electrode (BiFE) was shown to be an attractive alternative to common mercury film electrode (MFE) for anodic stripping voltammetric measurements. In this study, bismuth film, that was in situ deposited onto glassy carbon electrode, was used to detect zinc content of milkvetch, used in traditional Chinese medicine. Variables affecting the response have been evaluated and optimized. Experimental results showed a high response, with a good linearity (between 0.5 × 10−6 mol L−1 and 3 × 10−6 mol L−1) a good precision (R.S.D. = 3.58%) and a low detection limit (9.6 × 10−9 mol L−1 with a 120 s anodic). The anodic stripping performance makes the bismuth film electrode very desirable for measurements of trace nutritive element zinc in milkvetch and should impart possible restrictions on the use of mercury electrode.  相似文献

Capabilities for heavy metal speciation of anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) and constant-current stripping chronopotentiometry (SCP) in both mercury drop (HMDE) and mercury film rotating disk (MFE-RDE) electrodes are compared. For this purpose, the Cd(II)–glycine and Cd(II)–polymethacrylate (PMA) systems are used as models of simple labile and macromolecular labile complexes adsorbing onto the electrode, respectively. The results suggest that SCP could be a valuable alternative to the more widespread ASV in this kind of study. Concerning the electrode, the MFE-RDE is less user-friendly than the HMDE, but presents a better definition of both the hydrodynamic conditions during the deposition step and the stripping regime during the oxidation. An important interference in SCP is the dissolved oxygen, which can be minimised by combining relatively large oxidation currents and low stirring rates. Moreover, for Cd–PMA, double peaks have been observed in both ASV and SCP, which seems to be due to the lack of enough ligand excess to complex the metal ions released by the amalgam oxidation. Anyway, this problem can be minimised by optimising the rotation rate of the electrode and ensuring enough ligand excess.  相似文献

The bismuth film electrode (BiFE), in combination with anodic stripping voltammetry, offers convenient measurement of low concentrations of tin. The procedure involves simultaneous in situ formation of the bismuth film electrode on a glassy carbon substrate electrode, together with electrochemical deposition of tin, in a non-deaerated model solution containing bismuth ions, catechol as complexing agent and the metal analyte, followed by an anodic stripping scan. The BiFE is characterized by an attractive electroanalytical performance, with two distinct voltammetric stripping signals corresponding to tin, accompanied with low background contributions. Several experimental parameters were optimized, such as concentration of bismuth ions and catechol, deposition potential, deposition time and pH of the model solution. In addition, a critical comparison is given with bare glassy carbon and mercury film electrodes, revealing the superior characteristics of BiFE for measurement of tin. BiFE exhibited highly linear behavior in the examined concentration range from 1 to 100 μg L−1 of tin (R2 = 0.997), an LoD of 0.26 μg L−1 tin, and good reproducibility with a calculated R.S.D. of 7.3% for 10 μg L−1 tin (n = 10). As an example, the practical applicability of BiFE was tested with the measurement of tin in a real sample of seawater.  相似文献

Zinc speciation is considered to be an important determinant of the biological availability of zinc. Yet in oceanic surface waters, characterization of zinc speciation is difficult due to the low concentrations of this essential micronutrient. In this study, an anodic stripping voltammetry method previously developed for the total determination of cadmium and lead was successfully adapted to the measurement of zinc speciation. The method differs from previous zinc speciation anodic stripping voltammetry methods in that a fresh mercury film is plated with each sample aliquot. The fresh film anodic stripping voltammetry method was compared to competitive ligand exchange cathodic stripping voltammetry in a profile from the North Atlantic Ocean. Results using the fresh film anodic stripping voltammetry method were similar to those determined using the cathodic stripping voltammetry method, though ligand concentrations determined by fresh film anodic stripping voltammetry were generally slightly higher than those determined by cathodic stripping voltammetry. There did not seem to be a systematic difference between methods for the estimates of conditional stability constants. The ligand concentration in the North Atlantic profile ranged from 0.9 to 1.5 nmol L−1 as determined by fresh film anodic stripping voltammetry and 0.6 to 1.3 nmol L−1 as determined by cathodic stripping voltammetry. The conditional stability constants determined by fresh film anodic stripping voltammetry were 109.8-1010.5 and by cathodic stripping voltammetry were 109.8-1011.3.  相似文献

A sensitive anodic stripping voltammetric procedure at the bismuth film electrode (BFE) for trace analysis of copper (II) in the presence of gallium is presented. The new protocol circumvents the problems of overlapping stripping signals between copper and bismuth that previously hampered the analysis of copper at the BFE. The results illustrate that the addition of gallium not only improves the reproducibility of the bismuth stripping signal but also facilitates much improved resolution between the stripping signals of bismuth and copper. Investigations into the effect of gallium on the stripping response of copper and bismuth were studied showing a 4:1 gallium:copper mole ratio produces optimum signals from bismuth and copper indicating a possible stoichiometric relationship. Optimisation of other key variables including electrolyte composition, accumulation parameters and appropriate waveform settings were studied and optimised. The optimised procedures show a range of linear calibration plots (R2 > 0.994) ranging from 2 to 500 μg L−1 and the relative standard deviation for a solution containing 100 μg L−1 copper was 3.7% (n = 10). Utilising an accumulation time of 300 s the limit of detection was 1.4 μg L−1 (S/N = 3). This technique was successfully applied to the analysis of copper in tap water representing the first successful copper determination in real samples using the BFE.  相似文献

As a representation of metalloproteins, metallothionein (MT), which plays important biological and environmental roles such as in the metabolism and detoxification of some metals, was detected at bismuth film electrode (BiFE) by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). In pH 2–5.5, two well-defined anodic peaks were produced and attributed to the Zn2+ and Cd2+ inherent to MT. The calibration plot of DPASV peak currents for Cd2+ inherent to MT versus MT concentrations showed a good linearity with a detection limit of 3.86 × 10−8 mol/L for MT. As a non-toxic excellent electrode material, BiFE shows good performance for detecting MT, and is expected to find further applications in the studies of many other metalloproteins.  相似文献

Procedures for trace cobalt determinations by adsorptive stripping voltammetry at in situ and ex situ plated bismuth film electrodes are presented. These exploit the enhancement of the cobalt peak obtained by using the Co(II)–dimethylglyoxime–cetyltrimethylammonium bromide–piperazine-N,N-bis(2-ethanesulfonic acid) system. The calibration graph for an accumulation time of 120 s was linear from 2 × 10–10 to 2 × 10–8 mol L–1. The relative standard deviation from five determinations of cobalt at a concentration of 5 × 10–9 mol L–1 was 5.2%. The detection limit for an accumulation time of 300 s was 1.8 × 10–11 mol L–1. The proposed procedure was applied to cobalt determination in certified reference materials and in tap and river water samples.  相似文献

The study of a new type of working electrode - the renovated silver ring electrode (RSRE) - for lead ions detection via differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DP ASV) without removal of oxygen is reported. The only four constituents of the RSRE: a specially constructed silver ring electrode, a silver sheet used as silver counter/quasi-reference electrode and a silicon O-ring, are fastened together in a polypropylene body. The renovation of this electrode is carried out through mechanical removal of solid contaminants and electrochemical activation in the electrolyte which fills the RSRE body. Excellent repeatability and reproducibility - also in organic samples solutions - were reached in a period of a few weeks through the renovation of the electrode surface before each measurement. The reduction and stripping of lead on silver electrode under the DP ASV conditions are underpotential deposition/dissolution phenomena. The RSRE is used for the determination of Pb ions in concentrations ranging from 1 × 10−9 to 1 × 10−7 M. The repeatability of DP ASV runs in synthetic solutions covering the entire concentration range is better than 2%. Obtained calibration curves are represented by a correlation coefficient of at least 0.999. The detection limit (LOD) for the time of electrodeposition equal to 60 s is 0.2 × 10−9 M. LOD for Pb2+ detection at the RSRE is similar to this reported for a rotating silver electrode in subtractive anodic stripping voltammetry (E. Kirowa-Eisner, et al., Anal. Chim. Acta, 385 (1999) 325). The analysis of Pb2+ in synthetic solutions with and without surfactants, certified reference materials and natural water samples have been performed.  相似文献

This work exploited a sequential injection lab-on-valve (LOV) system for the determination of cadmium by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV). A miniaturized electrochemical flow cell (EFC) was fabricated in LOV, in which a nafion coated bismuth film electrode was used as working electrode. The cadmium was electrodeposited on the electrode surface in bismuth solution, and measured with the subsequential stripping scan. Under optimal conditions, the proposed system responded linearly to cadmium concentrations in a range 2.0-100.0 μg L−1. The detection limit of this method was found to be 0.88 μg L−1. By loading a sample volume of 800 μL, a sampling frequency of 22 determinations h−1 was achieved. The repeatability expressed as relative standard derivation (R.S.D.) was 3.65% for 20 μg L−1 cadmium (n = 11). The established method was applied to analysis of trace cadmium in environmental water samples and the spiked recoveries were satisfactory.  相似文献

A bismuth bulk electrode (BiBE) has been investigated as an alternative electrode for the anodic stripping voltammetric (ASV) analysis of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II). The BiBE, which is fabricated in-house, shows results comparable to those of similar analyses at other Bi-based electrodes. Metal accumulation is achieved by holding the electrode potential at −1.4 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) for 180 s followed by a square wave voltammetric stripping scan from −1.4 to −0.35 V. Calibration plots are obtained for all three metals, individually and simultaneously, in the10-100 μg L−1 range, with a detection limit of 93, 54, and 396 ng L−1 for Pb(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), respectively. A slight reduction in slope is observed for Cd(II) and Pb(II) when the three metals are calibrated simultaneously vs. individually. Comparing the sensitivities of the metals when calibrated individually vs. in a mixture reveals that Zn(II) is not affected by stripping in a mixture. However, Pb(II) and Cd(II) have decreasing sensitivities in a mixture. The optimized method has been successfully used to test contaminated river water by standard addition. The results demonstrate the ability of the BiBE as an alternative electrode material in heavy metal analysis.  相似文献

A procedure for the determination of gallium by differential pulse adsorptive stripping voltammetry (DPADSV), using different complexing agents (ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (APDC), pyrocatechol violet (PCV) and diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC)), has been optimized. The selection of the experimental conditions was made using experimental design methodology. Under these conditions, the calibration was made and the detection limit was determined for each gallium-ligand complex. A robust regression method was applied which allowed the elimination of anomalous points. The detection limit, with α=β=0.05, for gallium-APDC complex was 5.0×10−8 mol dm−3, for gallium-PCV complex was 9.9×10−9 mol dm−3, and the lowest detection limit (1.3×10−9 mol dm−3) was obtained with DDTC. For this reason, DDTC was selected for the determination of the gallium concentration in a certificate sample and in a spiked tap water sample. The linear dynamic range for gallium-APDC complex was from 5.0×10−8 to 2.7×10−7 mol dm−3, for gallium-PCV complex was from 5.0×10−9 to 4.8×10−7 mol dm−3, and for gallium-DDTC complex was from 1.0×10−9 to 2.1×10−7 mol dm−3.  相似文献

A bismuth-film modified graphite nanofibers-Nafion glassy carbon electrode (BiF/GNFs-NA/GCE) was constructed for the simultaneous determination of trace Cd(II) and Pb(II). The electrochemical properties and applications of the modified electrode were studied. Operational parameters such as deposition potential, deposition time, and bismuth ion concentration were optimized for the purpose of determination of trace metal ions in 0.10 M acetate buffer solution (pH 4.5). Under optimal conditions, based on three times the standard deviation of the baseline, the limits of detection were 0.09 μg L−1 for Cd(II) and 0.02 μg L−1 for Pb(II) with a 10 min preconcentration. In addition, the BiF/GNFs-NA/GCE displayed good reproducibility and selectivity, making it suitable for the simultaneous determination of Cd(II) and Pb(II) in real sample such as river water and human blood samples.  相似文献
