Antimony-doped tin oxide (ATO) nanostructures were prepared using chemical precipitation technique starting from SnCl2, SbCl3 as precursor compounds. The antimony composition was varied from 5 to 20 wt%. The lower resistance was observed at composition of Sn:95 and Sb:05, when compared with undoped and higher doping concentration of antimony. The average crystalline size of undoped and doped tin oxide was calculated from the X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and found to be in the range of 30-11 nm and it was further confirmed from the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis showed that the nanoparticles agglomerates forming spherical-shaped particles of few hundreds nanometers. The samples were further analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and electrical resistance measurements.  相似文献

Dispersed nickel oxide nanoparticles were obtained by a simple and low-cost method using a mixture of gelatin as organic precursor and NiCl2 · 6H2O as Ni source. The average particle size was estimated from X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) peaks using the Rietveld refinement. The values ranged from 3.2 to 79 nm. We observed that the particle size changes as a function of synthesis time, with a notable decrease after the addition of NaOH to the solution. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) measurements show that particles have well defined shapes and are dispersed in an organic matrix. X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) shows also the formation of fcc NiO nanoparticles structures.  相似文献

X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES), X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES), and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the Cr secondary oxide phases in ZnO films that had been prepared using a co-sputtering method. Analysis of the Cr L3,2-edge XANES spectra reveals that the intensity of white-line features decreases subtly as the sputtering power increases, indicating that the occupation of Cr 3d orbitals increases with Cr concentration in (Zn, Cr)O films. The O K-edge spectra show that the intensity of XANES features of (Zn, Cr)O films is lower than those of ZnO film, suggesting enhanced occupation of O 2p-derived states through O 2p-Cr 3d hybridization. The XES and XPS spectra indicate that the line shapes in the valence band of (Zn, Cr)O films are quite different from those of ZnO and that the Cr2O3 phase dominates the spinel structure of (Zn, Cr)O films increasingly as the Cr sputtering power is increased. Over all results suggest that the non-ferromagnetic behavior of (Zn, Cr)O films can be attributed to the dominant presence of Cr2O3, whereas the bulk comprise phase segregations of Cr2O3 and/or ZnCr2O4, which results them the most stable TM-doped ZnO material against etching.  相似文献

Soft-magnetic FeCo alloy nanoparticles with diameters less than 100 nm are prepared by ball milling. X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) are used to characterize these particles. While the XPS spectrum from the as-prepared sample clearly shows Co photoemission peaks, no sign of Fe is observed in the same spectrum. However, Fe photoemission peaks appear after 1 h of Ar ion sputtering. A quantitative analysis of the XPS spectra shows an increase of Fe concentration versus sputtering time until the Fe:Co ratio of the bulk alloy is reached. In addition, the narrow scan Fe and Co 2p XPS spectra show that Co is more oxidized than Fe. All these measurements indicate that the nanoparticles have a Co shell and an Fe-rich core. They further demonstrate the usefulness of XPS combined with depth-profiling via sputtering to obtain element- and chemically-sensitive structural information on nanoparticles. XMCD as an element-specific magnetic analysis tool further reveals that Fe and Co are ferromagnetically coupled in these particles. The information obtained is useful for establishing a structure–property relation for the studied material that is expected to have applications as a soft magnetic material at high temperatures.  相似文献

The presence of native oxide on the surface of silicon nanoparticles is known to inhibit charge transport on the surfaces. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies reveal that the particles in the printed silicon network have a wide range of sizes and shapes. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy reveals that the particle surfaces have mainly the (111)‐ and (100)‐oriented planes which stabilizes against further oxidation of the particles. X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XANES) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements at the O 1s‐edge have been utilized to study the oxidation and local atomic structure of printed layers of silicon nanoparticles which were milled for different times. XANES results reveal the presence of the +4 (SiO2) oxidation state which tends towards the +2 (SiO) state for higher milling times. Si 2p XPS results indicate that the surfaces of the silicon nanoparticles in the printed layers are only partially oxidized and that all three sub‐oxide, +1 (Si2O), +2 (SiO) and +3 (Si2O3), states are present. The analysis of the change in the sub‐oxide peaks of the silicon nanoparticles shows the dominance of the +4 state only for lower milling times.  相似文献

Ag nanoparticles on SiO2/Si surfaces synthesized using the Tollen's reagent and a subsequent acid-etching were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Combining the reduction of the Tollen's reagent and the chemical etching, one can create naked Ag nanoparticles with various sizes in the size range below ∼10 nanometers (nm). The reduced particle size by the chemical etching was identified using positive core level shifts with increasing etching time. Ag nanoparticles smaller than ∼3 nm undergo a reversible oxidation and reduction cycle by reacting with H2O2/H2O and a subsequent heating under vacuum to 150 °C, which was not found for the bulk counterparts and larger particles, demonstrating unique chemical properties of nanoparticles compared to the bulk counterparts.  相似文献

Aqueous electrochemical insertion of M+ (Na+ and H+) species into WO3(4,4′-bipyridyl)0.5 has been carried out. The chemical states and structure of the resulting product were analysed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). XPS showed the presence of W6+ as well as the usual reduced W species (W5+) which is responsible for a change in colour. Moreover, the presence of these intercalates correlates with the evolution of the reduced W species. The bulk structure of the layered hybrid, as determined by powder X-ray diffraction, showed no alteration after electrochemistry, in contrast to the same measurements on tungsten trioxide (WO3). This however concurs with single-crystal X-ray studies, which show little change in lattice parameters with Na+ insertion. Four-probe resistance measurements of the layered hybrid coated film display a drop in resistance after electrochemistry, which can be attributed to the injection of charge-carriers into the conduction band.  相似文献

The structure of Mn0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 spinel ferrite nanoparticles is studied as a function of their size and the experimental conditions of their synthesis using X-ray absorption spectroscopy. The nanoparticles of different sizes down to approximately 2 nm and with a narrow size distribution were synthesized using co-precipitation in reverse microemulsions. Simultaneous refinement of the X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) of three constituting metals shows a migration of Mn and Zn ions to the octahedral site of the spinel lattice compensated by the corresponding migration of the Fe ions. To a smaller extent, Mn ions switch the occupation site already in bulk and in larger nanoparticles, while a sporadic migration of Zn is detected only in the nanoparticles with sizes below approximately 5 nm. X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) reveals considerable variations in the position of the Mn K edge, suggesting the average Mn valence in the nanoparticles to be higher than 3+. Annealing at 500 °C relaxes the structure of as-synthesized nanoparticles toward the structure of the ceramic bulk standard. Local structure of Mn atoms in Ga1−xMnxAs epilayers was studied using the X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) at Mn K-edge. X-ray near edge structure (XANES) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) techniques were used. XAFS spectra for different Mn sites has been calculated and compared with the experimental data. Multi-parameter fitting of the EXAFS data indicates that 15-25% of Mn atoms are in interstitial sites in the as grown films. The Mn-As bond length has been found longer than Ga-As bond length in GaAs for both substitutional (MnGa) and interstitial (MnI) sites.  相似文献

X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES) is used to study the N environment in bulk GaN and in GaNyAs1−y epilayers on GaAs (0 0 1), for y∼5%. Density-functional optimized structures were used to predict XANES via multiple-scattering theory. We obtain striking agreement for pure GaN. An alloy model with nitrogen pairs on Ga accurately predicts the threshold energy, the width of the XANES ‘white line’, and features above threshold, for the given X-ray polarization. The presence of large quantitities of N-pairs may point to a role for molecular N2 in epitaxial growth kinetics.  相似文献

In this paper, a method for highly ordered assembly of cuprous oxide (Cu2O) nanoparticles (NPs) by DNA templates was reported. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-capped Cu2O NPs were adsorbed onto well-aligned λ-DNA chains to form necklace-like one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures. UV-vis, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize the nanostructure. The Cu2O nanostructures fabricated with the method are both highly ordered and quite straight.  相似文献

TiO2 (anatase and rutile) nanoparticles with an average crystallite size of 20-40 nm have been prepared at room temperature by polyol-mediated synthesis technique in a semi-aqueous solvent medium using titanium iso-propoxide as the titanium source, acetone as the oil phase and ethylene glycol as the stabilizer. Phase and microstructure of the resultant materials have been characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Photocatalytic degradation of acetaldehyde using TiO2 nanoparticles was investigated by gas-chromatography technique.  相似文献

In X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) of Au nanoparticles, the width of 5d valence band changes with Au particle size. This enables us to estimate the size of Au nanoparticles by using XPS. In this work, the 5d-band width has been measured for Au nanoparticles formed by ion implantation into SiO2. The 5d-band width is found to be correlated strongly with the Au concentration. As the Au concentration increases, the 5d-band width becomes larger, indicating that the Au nanoparticles with the larger size tend to be formed in the vicinity of the projected range of Au ions. This correlation agrees very well with the results from transmission electron microscopy.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystallites have been prepared by γ-irradiating ferrocene in the presence of isopropyl alcohol to get Fe nanoparticles in nitrogen atmosphere and at room temperature, followed by oxidization in air to obtain γ-Fe2O3. The final black powder was characterized with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). From XRD pattern and XPS spectrum, we can confirm to get γ-Fe2O3. The particle size is several nanometers as shown in TEM image. Magnetic hysteresis loop measurements exhibited that the γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles display superparamagnetism. However, a trace black powder was obtained in kerosene oil using the same method. A possible formation mechanism of the γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles was suggested.  相似文献

An ultrasonic-assisted and environmentally favorable method is proposed for preparation of CdS nanoparticles in the presence of a halide-free and low-cost room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL), 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethyl sulfate, ([EMIM][EtSO4]). The prepared samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR). Diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) of the products reveal a blue shift of 1.45 eV relative to bulk CdS, which can be attributed to the quantum confinement effect of the prepared nanoparticles. Investigation of photocatalytic activity for the CdS nanoparticles towards photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) demonstrates that photodegradation of MB increases with RTIL content of the media using visible and UV irradiations.  相似文献

CeO2 nanostructures were successfully prepared by a facile and environmentally friendly mixed-solvothermal method under mild conditions. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) results indicated that the as-synthesized products were cubic CeO2 polycrystalline structures with uniform diameters in the range of 10–20 nm and lengths up to 80 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra and EDX data demonstrated that stoichiometric CeO2 was formed. A possible growth mechanism of the CeO2 nanostructures was proposed. Moreover, ultraviolet absorption measurement revealed the band gap of the CeO2 nanorods was estimated to be 3.85 eV, which is larger than the reported value for the bulk CeO2 (Eg=3.2 eV). Enhancement of the band gap of the CeO2 nanorods is attributed to the well-known quantum size effect.  相似文献

Y2O3 nanoparticles and nanorods have been firstly synthesized in bulk Ti-Y films prepared by magnetron sputtering on Si (100) substrates at different temperatures. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) are used to characterize the structure, morphology, and composition of the as-synthesized nanoparticles and nanorods. The mechanical properties of the sputtered films are investigated using nanoindentation techniques. The results indicate that both the nanoparticles and nanorods have a pure cubic Y2O3 structure resulting from the reaction of Y atoms with the residual O2 in the vacuum chamber, and are free from defects and dislocations with uniform diameters of about 30 nm. The Y2O3 nanoparticles mainly distribute at the grain boundaries of the Ti matrix and the nanorods have lengths ranging from 250 nm to more than 1 μm with the growth direction parallel to the (002) plane. As the growth temperature elevates, the nanoparticles turn to be coarsening while more and longer nanorods are inclined to form. Compared with the Ti film, the TiY films have a remarkable increase in hardness, but do not exhibit expected increase in elastic modulus. Finally, the growth mechanism is also briefly discussed.  相似文献

In this work, formation of gold nanoparticles in radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron co-sputtered Au-SiO2 thin films post annealed at different temperatures in Ar + H2 atmosphere has been investigated. Optical, surface topography, chemical state and crystalline properties of the prepared films were analyzed by using UV-visible spectrophotometry, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) techniques, respectively. Optical absorption spectrum of the Au-SiO2 thin films annealed at 800 °C showed one surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption peak located at 520 nm relating to gold nanoparticles. According to XPS analysis, it was found that the gold nanoparticles had a tendency to accumulate on surface of the heat-treated films in the metallic state. AFM images showed that the nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the film surface with grain size of about 30 nm. Using XRD analysis average crystalline size of the Au particles was estimated to about 20 nm.  相似文献

Direct synthesis of ZnS nanocrystallites doped with Ti3+ or Ti4+ by precipitation has led to novel photoluminescence properties. Detailed X-ray diffraction (XRD), fluorescence spectrophotometry, UV–vis spectrophotometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis reveal the crystal lattice structure, average size, emission spectra, absorption spectra and composition. The average crystallite size doped with different mole ratios, estimated from the Debye–Scherrer formula, is about 2.6±0.2 nm. The nanoparticles can be doped with Ti3+ and Ti4+ during the synthesis without the X-ray diffraction pattern being altered. The strong and stable visible-light emission has been observed from ZnS nanocrystallites doped with Ti3+ (its maximum fluorescence intensity is about twice that of undoped ZnS nanoparticles). However, the fluorescence intensity of the ZnS nanocrystallites doped with Ti4+ is almost the same as that of the undoped ZnS nanoparticles. The emission peak of the undoped sample is at 440–450 nm. The emission spectrum of the doped sample consists of two emission peaks, one at 420–430 nm and the other at 510 nm. The modifications in surface composition of Ni2.1Mn0.9Ga ferromagnetic shape memory alloy have been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) under various sputtering and annealing conditions. XPS core-level spectra show that sputtering makes the surface Ni rich. However, by annealing, the Mn content at the surface increases and at about 390 °C the bulk composition is restored. The valence band spectra show evidence of Ni related extra states for the sputtered surface, which decrease with annealing. This behavior is in agreement with the change in surface composition derived from the core-level spectra.  相似文献
