We study the set of localizations of an integral domain from a topological point of view, showing that it is always a spectral space and characterizing when it is a proconstructible subspace of the space of all overrings. Let P be the set of all primes. The following result is proved: For any nonzero integer a, the set a+P contains arbitrarily long sequences which have the same largest prime factor. We give an application to the dynamics of the w function which extends the “seven” in Theorem 2.14 of [Wushi Goldring, Dynamics of the w function and primes, J. Number Theory 119 (2006) 86-98] to any positive integer. Beyond this we also establish a relation between a result of congruent covering systems and a question on the dynamics of the w function. This implies that the answer to Conjecture 2.16 of Goldring's paper is negative. Two conjectures are posed. 相似文献

We prove that a quadratic A[T]-module Q with Witt index (Q/TQ)?d, where d is the dimension of the equicharacteristic regular local ring A, is extended from A. This improves a theorem of the second named author who showed it when A is the local ring at a smooth point of an affine variety over an infinite field. To establish our result, we need to establish a local–global principle (of Quillen) for the Dickson–Siegel–Eichler–Roy (DSER) elementary orthogonal transformations. 相似文献

Let M be a finitely generated torsion-free module over a one-dimensional reduced Noetherian ring R with finitely generated normalization. The rank of M is the tuple of vector-space dimensions of MP over each field RP (R localized at P), where P ranges over the minimal prime ideals of R. We assume that there exists a bound NR on the ranks of all indecomposable finitely generated torsion-free R-modules. For such rings, what bounds and ranks occur? Partial answers to this question have been given by a plethora of authors over the past forty years. In this article we provide a final answer by giving a concise list of the ranks of indecomposable modules for R a local ring with no condition on the characteristic. We conclude that if the rank of an indecomposable module M is (r,r,…,r), then r∈{1,2,3,4,6}, even when R is not local. 相似文献

We introduce a dual Zariski topology on the spectrum of fully coprime R-submodules of a given duo module M over an associative (not necessarily commutative) ring R. This topology is defined in a way dual to that of defining the Zariski topology on the prime spectrum of R. We propose to give positive answers to the open questions: is R(X,Y) strong S when R(X) is strong S? is R stably strong S (resp., universally catenary) when R[X] is strong S (resp., catenary)? in case R is obtained by a (T,I,D) construction. The importance of these results is due to the fact that this type of ring is the principal source of counterexamples. Moreover, we give an answer to the open questions: is R〈X1,…,Xn〉 residually Jaffard (resp., totally Jaffard) when R(X1,…,Xn) is ? We construct a three-dimensional local ring R such that R(X1,…,Xn) is totally Jaffard (and hence, residually Jaffard) whereas R〈X1,…,Xn〉 is not residually Jaffard (and hence, not totally Jaffard). 相似文献

Abstract Let 𝒢 be a simple finite dimensional Lie algebra over the complex numbers and let 𝒢¯ = 𝒢1 ⊕…⊕ 𝒢 k be a regular semisimple subalgebra of 𝒢 with each 𝒢 i being a simple algebra of type A or C. It is shown that the lattice of submodules of a generalized Verma 𝒢-module constructed by parabolic induction starting from a simple torsion free 𝒢¯-module is almost always isomorphic to the lattice of submodules of an associated module formed as a quotient of a classical Verma module by a sum of Verma submodules. In particular, it is shown that the Mathieu admissible Verma modules involved have maximal submodules which are the sum of Verma modules. 相似文献

We provide a class of commutative Noetherian domains R of dimension d such that every finitely generated projective R-module P of rank d splits off a free summand of rank one.
