Let A be a commutative Noetherian ring and be an ideal containing a monic polynomial such that A[T]/I is zero dimensional. Suppose the conormal module I/I 2 is generated by r elements over A[T]/I. Many combinatorial generating functions can be expressed as combinations of symmetric functions, or extracted as sub-series and specializations from such combinations. Gessel has outlined a large class of symmetric functions for which the resulting generating functions are D-finite. We extend Gessel's work by providing algorithms that compute differential equations, these generating functions satisfy in the case they are given as a scalar product of symmetric functions in Gessel's class. Examples of applications to k-regular graphs and Young tableaux with repeated entries are given. Asymptotic estimates are a natural application of our method, which we illustrate on the same model of Young tableaux. We also derive a seemingly new formula for the Kronecker product of the sum of Schur functions with itself.  相似文献

In this article we consider finitely generated torsion-free modules over certain one-dimensional commutative Noetherian rings R. We assume there exists a positive integer NR such that, for every indecomposable R-module M and for every minimal prime ideal P of R, the dimension of MP, as a vector space over the field RP, is less than or equal to NR. If a nonzero indecomposable R-module M is such that all the localizations MP as vector spaces over the fields RP have the same dimension r, for every minimal prime P of R, then r=1,2,3,4 or 6. Let n be an integer ≥8. We show that if M is an R-module such that the vector space dimensions of the MP are between n and 2n−8, then M decomposes non-trivially. For each n≥8, we exhibit a semilocal ring and an indecomposable module for which the relevant dimensions range from n to 2n−7. These results require a mild equicharacteristic assumption; we also discuss bounds in the non-equicharacteristic case.  相似文献

An ideal I of a ring R is said to be strongly irreducible if for ideals J and K of R, the inclusion JKI implies that either JI or KI. The relationship among the families of irreducible ideals, strongly irreducible ideals, and prime ideals of a commutative ring R is considered, and a characterization is given of the Noetherian rings which contain a non-prime strongly irreducible ideal.  相似文献

In this paper, we compare Krull dimension, Gorenstein injective dimension and injective dimension of a module in several cases. In fact, we establish some generalizations of the Bass formula. Given a tree T on n vertices, there is an associated ideal I   of R[x1,…,xn]R[x1,,xn] generated by all paths of a fixed length ? of T  . We classify all trees for which R/IR/I is Cohen–Macaulay, and we show that an ideal I whose generators correspond to any collection of subtrees of T satisfies the König property. Since the edge ideal of a simplicial tree has this form, this generalizes a result of Faridi. Moreover, every square-free monomial ideal can be represented (non-uniquely) as a subtree ideal of a graph, so this construction provides a new combinatorial tool for studying square-free monomial ideals.  相似文献

Following a construction of Stanley we consider toric face rings associated to rational pointed fans. This class of rings is a common generalization of the concepts of Stanley-Reisner and affine monoid algebras. The main goal of this article is to unify parts of the theories of Stanley-Reisner and affine monoid algebras. We consider (non-pure) shellable fan’s and the Cohen-Macaulay property. Moreover, we study the local cohomology, the canonical module and the Gorenstein property of a toric face ring.  相似文献

We introduce pretty clean modules, extending the notion of clean modules by Dress, and show that pretty clean modules are sequentially Cohen–Macaulay. We also extend a theorem of Dress on shellable simplicial complexes to multicomplexes.  相似文献

We study the following properties about primary decomposition over a Noetherian ring R: (1) For finitely generated modules NM and a given subset X={P1,P2,…,Pr}⊆Ass(M/N), we define an X-primary component of N?M to be an intersection Q1Q2∩?∩Qr for some Pi-primary components Qi of NM and we study the maximal X-primary components of NM; (2) We give a proof of the ‘linear growth’ property of Ext and Tor, which says that for finitely generated modules N and M, any fixed ideals I1,I2,…,It of R and any fixed integer iN, there exists a kN such that for any there exists a primary decomposition of 0 in (or 0 in ) such that every P-primary component Q of that primary decomposition contains (or ), where .  相似文献

For a Noetherian domain, the sets of divisorial primes, t-primes, and associated primes of principal ideals coincide. We study the divisorial primes of a Noetherian domain as a partially ordered set. In particular, we show that it is possible to have arbitrarily long chains and any finite amount of noncatenarity.  相似文献

In this article, we revisit Ramanujan's cubic analogue of Jacobi's inversion formula for the classical elliptic integral of the first kind. Our work is motivated by the recent work of Milne (Ramanujan J. 6(1) (2002) 7-149), Chan and Chua (Ramanujan J., to appear) on the representations of integers as sums of even squares.  相似文献

In this paper we are mainly concerned with TW-domains, i.e., domains in which the w- and t-operations coincide. Precisely, we investigate possible connections with related well-known classes. We characterize the TW-property in terms of divisoriality for Mori domains and Noetherian domains. Specifically, we prove that a Mori domain R is a TW-domain if and only if RM is a divisorial domain for each t-maximal ideal M of R. It turns out that a Mori domain which is a TW-domain is a Strong Mori domain. The last section examines the transfer of the “TW-domain” and “Strong Mori” properties to pullbacks, in order to provide some original examples.  相似文献

Abstract

Eklof-Fuchs [3] have shown that over an arbitrary valuation domain R, the modules B which satisfy Ext 1/R (B,T) = 0 for all torsion R-modules T are precisely the free R-modules. Here we modify the problem and describe all R-modules B for which Ext 1/R (B, T) vanishes for all bounded and for all divisible torsion R-modules T. It is well known that if R is a descrete rank one valuation domain then all torsion—free R-modules B have this property.  相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, be an ideal of R and M be a finitely generated R-module. Melkersson and Schenzel asked whether the set becomes stable for a fixed integer i and sufficiently large j. This paper is concerned with this question. In fact, we prove that if s ≥ 0 and n ≥ 0 such that for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with i < n, and is finite for all i with in, where for a subset T of Spec(R), we set . Also, among other things, we show that if n ≥ 0, R is semi-local and is finite for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with in. K. Let C be a reduced curve singularity. C is called of finite self-dual type if there exist only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable, self-dual, torsion-free modules over the local ring of C. In this paper it is shown that the singularities of finite self-dual type are those which dominate a simple plane singularity.  相似文献

A Yang–Mills theory in a purely symplectic framework is developed. The corresponding Euler–Lagrange equations are derived and first integrals are given. We relate the results to the work of Bourgeois and Cahen on preferred symplectic connections.  相似文献
