Let k be any field, G be a finite group acting on the rational function field k(xg:g∈G) by h⋅xg=xhg for any h,g∈G. Define k(G)=k(xg:g∈G)G. Noether’s problem asks whether k(G) is rational (= purely transcendental) over k. A weaker notion, retract rationality introduced by Saltman, is also very useful for the study of Noether’s problem. We prove that, if G is a Frobenius group with abelian Frobenius kernel, then k(G) is retract k-rational for any field k satisfying some mild conditions. As an application, we show that, for any algebraic number field k, for any Frobenius group G with Frobenius complement isomorphic to SL2(F5), there is a Galois extension field K over k whose Galois group is isomorphic to G, i.e. the inverse Galois problem is valid for the pair (G,k). The same result is true for any non-solvable Frobenius group if k(ζ8) is a cyclic extension of k. 相似文献

A finite Sturmian word w is a balanced word over the binary alphabet {a,b}, that is, for all subwords u and v of w of equal length, ||u|a−|v|a|≤1, where |u|a and |v|a denote the number of occurrences of the letter a in u and v, respectively. There are several other characterizations, some leading to efficient algorithms for testing whether a finite word is Sturmian. These algorithms find important applications in areas such as pattern recognition, image processing, and computer graphics. Recently, Blanchet-Sadri and Lensmire considered finite semi-Sturmian words of minimal length and provided an algorithm for generating all of them using techniques from graph theory. In this paper, we exploit their approach in order to count the number of minimal semi-Sturmian words. We also present some other results that come from applying this graph theoretical framework to subword complexity. 相似文献

It is shown that if a sequence of open n-sets Dk increases to an open n-set D then reflected stable processes in Dk converge weakly to the reflected stable process in D for every starting point x in D. The same result holds for censored α-stable processes for every x in D if D and Dk satisfy the uniform Hardy inequality. Using the method in the proof of the above results, we also prove the weak convergence of reflected Brownian motions in unbounded domains. 相似文献

Let f:X→Y be a morphism between normal complex varieties, where Y is Kawamata log terminal. Given any differential form σ, defined on the smooth locus of Y, we construct a “pull-back form” on X. The pull-back map obtained by this construction is ?Y-linear, uniquely determined by natural universal properties and exists even in cases where the image of f is entirely contained in the singular locus of Y. 相似文献

Let k be a field of characteristic zero and R a factorial affine k-domain. Let B be an affineR-domain. In terms of locally nilpotent derivations, we give criteria for B to be R-isomorphic to the residue ring of a polynomial ring R[X1,X2,Y] over R by the ideal (X1X2−φ(Y)) for φ(Y)∈R[Y]?R. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem (Pε) : Δ2u=un+4/n-4+εu,u>0 in Ω,u=Δu=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded and smooth domain in Rn,n>8 and ε>0. We analyze the asymptotic behavior of solutions of (Pε) which are minimizing for the Sobolev inequality as ε→0 and we prove existence of solutions to (Pε) which blow up and concentrate around a critical point of the Robin's function. Finally, we show that for ε small, (Pε) has at least as many solutions as the Ljusternik–Schnirelman category of Ω. 相似文献

Consider events of the form {Zs≥ζ(s),s∈S}, where Z is a continuous Gaussian process with stationary increments, ζ is a function that belongs to the reproducing kernel Hilbert space R of process Z, and S⊂R is compact. The main problem considered in this paper is identifying the function β∗∈R satisfying β∗(s)≥ζ(s) on S and having minimal R-norm. The smoothness (mean square differentiability) of Z turns out to have a crucial impact on the structure of the solution. As examples, we obtain the explicit solutions when ζ(s)=s for s∈[0,1] and Z is either a fractional Brownian motion or an integrated Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process. 相似文献

We consider a multidimensional diffusion X with drift coefficient b(Xt,α) and diffusion coefficient εa(Xt,β) where α and β are two unknown parameters, while ε is known. For a high frequency sample of observations of the diffusion at the time points k/n, k=1,…,n, we propose a class of contrast functions and thus obtain estimators of (α,β). The estimators are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal when n→∞ and ε→0 in such a way that ε−1n−ρ remains bounded for some ρ>0. The main focus is on the construction of explicit contrast functions, but it is noted that the theory covers quadratic martingale estimating functions as a special case. In a simulation study we consider the finite sample behaviour and the applicability to a financial model of an estimator obtained from a simple explicit contrast function. 相似文献

We examine a class of Grushin type operators Pk where k∈N0 defined in (1.1). The operators Pk are non-elliptic and degenerate on a sub-manifold of RN+?. Geometrically they arise via a submersion from a sub-Laplace operator on a nilpotent Lie group of step k+1. We explain the geometric framework and prove some analytic properties such as essential self-adjointness. The main purpose of the paper is to give an explicit expression of the fundamental solution of Pk. Our methods rely on an appropriate change of coordinates and involve the theory of Bessel and modified Bessel functions together with Weber's second exponential integral. 相似文献

By a perturbation method and constructing comparison functions, we reveal how the inhomogeneous term h affects the exact asymptotic behaviour of solutions near the boundary to the problem △u=b(x)g(u)+λh(x), u>0 in Ω, u|∂Ω=∞, where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN, λ>0, g∈C1[0,∞) is increasing on [0,∞), g(0)=0, g′ is regularly varying at infinity with positive index ρ, the weight b, which is non-trivial and non-negative in Ω, may be vanishing on the boundary, and the inhomogeneous term h is non-negative in Ω and may be singular on the boundary. 相似文献

We consider a multidimensional diffusion X with drift coefficient b(α,Xt) and diffusion coefficient ?σ(β,Xt). The diffusion sample path is discretely observed at times tk=kΔ for k=1…n on a fixed interval [0,T]. We study minimum contrast estimators derived from the Gaussian process approximating X for small ?. We obtain consistent and asymptotically normal estimators of α for fixed Δ and ?→0 and of (α,β) for Δ→0 and ?→0 without any condition linking ? and Δ. We compare the estimators obtained with various methods and for various magnitudes of Δ and ? based on simulation studies. Finally, we investigate the interest of using such methods in an epidemiological framework. 相似文献

This paper investigates the solvability of discrete Dirichlet boundary value problems by the lower and upper solution method. Here, the second-order difference equation with a nonlinear right hand side f is studied and f(t,u,v) can have a superlinear growth both in u and in v. Moreover, the growth conditions on f are one-sided. We compute a priori bounds on solutions to the discrete problem and then obtain the existence of at least one solution. It is shown that solutions of the discrete problem will converge to solutions of ordinary differential equations. 相似文献

Let T:D⊂X→X be an iteration function in a complete metric space X. In this paper we present some new general complete convergence theorems for the Picard iteration xn+1=Txn with order of convergence at least r≥1. Each of these theorems contains a priori and a posteriori error estimates as well as some other estimates. A central role in the new theory is played by the notions of a function of initial conditions of T and a convergence function of T. We study the convergence of the Picard iteration associated to T with respect to a function of initial conditions E:D→X. The initial conditions in our convergence results utilize only information at the starting point x0. More precisely, the initial conditions are given in the form E(x0)∈J, where J is an interval on R+ containing 0. The new convergence theory is applied to the Newton iteration in Banach spaces. We establish three complete ω-versions of the famous semilocal Newton–Kantorovich theorem as well as a complete version of the famous semilocal α-theorem of Smale for analytic functions. 相似文献
