In the paper we have obtained ergodic theorems for walks generated by sums of stationarily connected random variables and two inhibitory boundaries. We have found representations for the steady-state distributions, permitting us to obtain in the case of independent summands a whole series of useful formulas. We discuss the connection of the results established with problems from queueing theory.  相似文献

In this paper the temperature and thermal stresses set up in an elastic sphere due to a point source at a finite distance from the centre of the sphere and outside it, have been studied. The final results are obtained in terms of series involving Legendre polynomials. The nature of the stress and temperature distributions have been studied for two different distances of the point source from the centre of the sphere Numerical calculations done on an IBM 1620 Computer have been represented in graphs.  相似文献

The Marquardt algorithm, by virtuc of its simplicity and reasonableconvergence properties, has become a papular tool for minimisinga sum of squares function. Doubts have been expressed in theliterature, however, as to its efficiency and reliability whenpresented with pathological functions, and from these doubtsmore complicated algorithms have been synthesized. On a smallcomputer algorithm complexity must if possible be avoided toconserve memory space, and under this constraint a compact implementationof the Marquardt algorithm has been developed which appearsnot to suffer from the failing this procedure has been reportedto have. The flow and heat transfer characteristics for a continuous moving surface in a viscoelastic fluid are investigated. Constitutive equations of viscoelastic fluid obey the second‐grade model. Analytic expressions to velocity and temperature have been developed by employing homotopy analysis method. The criterion to the convergence of the solution is properly discussed. Furthermore, the values of skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number have been computed and discussed. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Conclusions These tests on quasistationary irradiated for polyethylene-matrix powder-filled composites show that the filler composition and content have marked effects on the damage.There are ranges where the specific loss, the pressure, and the integral recoil pulse decrease as the power density increases because of changes in the damage mechanism, which are most prominent for zirconium oxide as filler. Bulk absorption contributes considerably, and causes various types of defect. Primal–dual interior point methods and the HKM method in particular have been implemented in a number of software packages for semidefinite programming. These methods have performed well in practice on small to medium sized SDPs. However, primal–dual codes have had some trouble in solving larger problems because of the storage requirements and required computational effort. In this paper we describe a parallel implementation of the primal–dual method on a shared memory system. Computational results are presented, including the solution of some large scale problems with over 50,000 constraints.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the analysis of peristaltic motion of a Jeffrey fluid in a tube with sinusoidal wave travelling down its wall. The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. Analytic solution is carried out for long wavelength and low Reynolds number considerations. The expressions for stream function, axial velocity and axial pressure gradient have been obtained. The results for pressure rise and frictional force per wavelength obtained in the analysis have been evaluated numerically and discussed briefly. The significance of the present model over the existing models has been pointed out by comparing the results with other theories. It is further noted that under the long wavelength approximation, the retardation time has no effect in the present analysis.  相似文献

In this paper we study conditions under which all finitely generated subsets in a space (i.e., in a set with the closure property) have finite lower neighborhoods. We prove the finitary property of such a space. In addition, we state the Birchoff and Frink finatary theoremmore precisely. Exact solutions for the velocity and temperature fields have been obtained. We consider a robotized analytical system in which a chemical treatment has to be performed on a given set of identical samples. The objective is to carry out the chemical treatment on the whole set of samples in the shortest possible time. All constraints have to be satisfied since a modification of the chemical process could create unexpected reactions.We have developed a new robust method governed by a genetic algorithm to solve this scheduling problem. The crossover mechanism of this evolutionary method is based on an extension of the uniform crossover introduced by Syswerda (1989).The proposed approach can be adapted to other combinatorial problems where decisions, based on rules, have to be taken at each step of a constructive method.  相似文献

The paper presents a theoretical formulation for studying scattering of Rayleigh waves due to the presence of rigid barriers in oceanic waters. The Wiener-Hopf technique has been employed to solve the problem. Exact solution has been obtained in terms of Fourier integrals whose evaluation gives the reflected, transmitted and scattered waves. The scattered waves have the behaviour of cylindrical waves originating at the edge of the barrier. Numerical results for the amplitude of the scattered waves have been obtained for small depth of the barrier.  相似文献

A necessary condition is given for a region of the plane to have the greatest possible area of any region able to move around a right-angled corner in a hallway of unit width. Summary Suppose different classes of items, for example, beads of different colours, are placed in a circle. Two probability models have been proposed, which lead to different distributions of runs, i.e. sequences of one colour. Barton and David [3] have called these Whitworth runs and Jablonski runs, and have tabulated the distributions for small samples. Asano [1] has extended the tabulations for Jablonski runs. In this paper, Whitworth runs are examined, particularly some approximations to the distributions which avoid extensive tabulations. Some potential uses of Whitworth runs are also pointed out.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the study of peristaltic flow of a fourth grade fluid in a channel under the considerations of long wavelength and low-Reynolds number. The flow is examined in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. The analytic solution has been obtained in the form of a stream function from which the axial velocity and axial pressure gradient have been derived. The results for the pressure rise and frictional force per wavelength have also been computed numerically. The computational results indicate that the pressure rise and frictional force per wavelength are increased in case of non-Newtonian fluid when compared with Newtonian fluid. In this paper, we prove the existence of 12 small-amplitude limit cycles around a singular point in a planar cubic-degree polynomial system. Based on two previously developed cubic systems in the literature, which have been proved to exhibit 11 small-amplitude limit cycles, we applied a different method to show 11 limit cycles. Moreover, we show that one of the systems can actually have 12 small-amplitude limit cycles around a singular point. This is the best result so far obtained in cubic planar vector fields around a singular point.  相似文献

Kth order zero disparity codes have been considered in several recent papers. In the first part of this paper we remove the zero disparity condition and consider the larger class of codes, Kth order disparity D codes. We establish properties of disparity D codes showing that they have many of the properties of zero disparity codes. We give existence criteria for them, and discuss how new codewords may be formed from ones already known. We then discuss Kth order disparity D codes that have the same number of codewords. We discuss the minimum distance properties of these new codes and present a decoding algorithm for them. In the second part of the paper we look at how the minimum distance of disparity D codes can be improved. We consider subsets of a very specialised subclass, namely first order zero disparity codes over alphabet Aq of size q. These particular subsets have q codewords of length n and minimum Hamming distance n. We show that such a subset exists when q is even and nis a multiple of 4, and also when q is odd and n is even. These subsets have the best error correction capabilities of any subset of q first order zero disparity codewords.  相似文献

Brownian motion and normal distribution have been widely used in Cox-Ingersoll-Ross interest rate framework to model the instantaneous interest rate dynamics. However, empirical studies have also shown that the return distribution of interest rate has a higher peak and two fatter tails than those of the normal distribution. Meanwhile, when the rare catastrophic shocks occur or the regime shifts in the economy and finance, the money market may have jumps. In this paper, we will consider a class of reflected Cox-Ingersoll-Ross interest rate models with noise. Furthermore, we shall continue to supply the Laplace transform of the stationary distribution about this reflected diffusion process with jumps.  相似文献
