Affine CS and WZNW theories with values in infinite-dimensional (loop) groups are proposed. It appears that the affine CS theory naturally introduces a spectral parameter into a CS theory. The Sinh-Gordon, KdV, and nonlinear Schrödinger equations are obtained, via Hamiltonian reductions, from the affine WZNW. It is shown that the self-dual Yang-Mills (SDYM) equation is related to the equation of motion of the affine WZNW and, thus, symmetry algebra underlying the SDYM can be identified with the affine two-loop Kac-Moody algebra of the affine WZNW.K. A four-dimensional affine Yang-Mills theory, i.e. Yang—Mills gauge theory with values in an affine Kac-Moody algebra, is constructed which can give rise to a spontaneous breakdown of the affine symmetry. The affine self-dual Yang-Mills equation (which is a special kind of affine YM theory) in four dimensions is dimensionally reduced to the affine self-dual Chem-Simons equation in two dimensions. The latter is shown to have soliton solutions which satisfy the conformal affine Toda equations.K. C. We propose and analyse a large class of conformal reductions Cons [g(H,d)] of WZNW theory based on the integral gradations of the underlying Lie algebra g.The W-bases of the associated W-algebras W[g(H,d)] are constru ted under the generalized Drinfeld-Sokolov gauge which we call O'Raifeartaigh gauge of the constrained Kac-Moody currents,and the equations of motion of the extended Toda type integrable systems corresponding to these Walgebras are derived also.  相似文献

The Wk structure underlying the transverse realization of affine SU(2) at level k is analyzed. The extension of the equivalence existing between the covariant and light-cone gauge realization of an affine Kac-Moody algebra to Wk algebras is given. Higher spin generators are extracted by the less singular terms in the operator product expansion of the parafermions constructed by means of the projection of the covariant on the light-cone gauge. These fields can be written in terms of only one free boson compactified on a circle.  相似文献

In this work we develop the BRST approach to Lagrangian construction for the massive integer higher spin fields in an arbitrary dimensional AdS space. The theory is formulated in terms of auxiliary Fock space. Closed nonlinear symmetry algebra of higher spin bosonic theory in AdS space is found and a method of deriving the BRST operator for such an algebra is proposed. A general procedure of Lagrangian construction, describing the dynamics of a bosonic field with any spin is given on the base of the BRST operator. No off-shell constraints on the fields and the gauge parameters are used from the very beginning. As an example of general procedure, we derive the Lagrangians for massive bosonic fields with spin 0, 1 and 2, containing the total set of auxiliary fields and gauge symmetries.  相似文献

It is possible to construct non-Abelian field theories by gauging Kac-Moody algebras. Here we discuss the spontaneous symmetry breaking of such theories via the Higgs mechanism. If the Higgs particle lies in the Cartan subalgebra of the Kac-Moody algebra, the previously massless vectors acquire a mass spectrum that is linear in the Kac-Moody index and has additional fine structure depending on the associated Lie algebra.  相似文献

The Estabrook-Wahlquist prolongation method is applied to the (compact and noncompact) continuous isotropic Heisenberg model in 1 + 1 dimensions. Using a special realization (an algebra of the Kac-Moody type) of the arising incomplete prolongation Lie algebra, a whole family of nonlinear field equations containing the original Heisenberg system is generated.  相似文献

By the classical genus zero Sugawara construction one obtains representations of the Virasoro algebra from admissible representations of affine Lie algebras (Kac-Moody algebras of affine type). In this lecture, the classical construction is recalled first. Then, after giving a review on the global multi-point algebras of Krichever-Novikov type for compact Riemann surfaces of arbitrary genus, the higher genus Sugawara construction is introduced. Finally, the lecture reports on results obtained in a joint work with O. K. Sheinman. We were able to show that also in the higher genus, multi-point situation one obtains (from representations of the global algebras of affine type) representations of a centrally extended algebra of meromorphic vector fields on Riemann surfaces. The latter algebra is a generalization of the Virasoro algebra to higher genus.  相似文献

A topological action for self-dual connections over noncompact Riemann surfaces is proposed. TheJ formulation and the associated linear system are obtained. A new connection is constructed, depending on a Kac-Moody parameter such that its flatness condition is theJ-equation associated to the self-dual problem. The Sine-Gordon equation is derived from the conformally invariant WZNW model by imposing constraints.The action,equation of motion,canonical equal-time Poisson braket and energy-momentum tensor of S.G.E. are obtained,and the absence of conformal invariance and the complete integrability of S.G.E. are explained.The restricted WZNW model is related to the nonlinear sigma model.In addition,the SL(n,R) affine Toda fields and the SL(2,R) conformal affine Toda fields are also derived from the restricted WZNW model.  相似文献

Borcherds algebras represent a new class of Lie algebras which have almost all the properties that ordinary Kac-Moody algebras have, but the only major difference is that these generalized Kac-Moody algebras are allowed to have imaginary simple roots. The simplest nontrivial examples one can think of are those where one adds by hand one imaginary simple root to an ordinary Kac-Moody algebra. We study the fundamental representation of this class of examples and prove that an irreducible module is given by the full tensor algebra over some integrable highest weight module of the underlying Kac-Moody algebra. We consider how a vertex operator algebra can be extended to an abelian interwining algebra by a family of weak twisted modules which aresimple currents associated with semisimple weight one primary vectors. In the case that the extension is again a vertex operator algebra, the rationality of the extended algebra is discussed. We generalize the BRS method for the (finite-dimensional) quantum gauge theory involved in the zero modes of the monodromy extended SU(2) WZNW model. The generalization consists of a nilpotent operator Q such that Qh = 0 (h = k + 2 = 2, 3, ... being the height of the current algebra representation) acting on an extended state space. The physical subquotient is identified with the direct sum h-1 n=1 Ker(Qn)/Im(Qh–n).  相似文献

We lift the lattice of translations in the extended affine Weyl group to a braid group action on the quantum affine algebra. This action fixes the Heisenberg subalgebra pointwise. Loop-like generators of the algebra are obtained which satisfy the relations of Drinfel'd's new realization. Coproduct formulas are given and a PBW type basis is constructed.  相似文献

This is the second part of a paper dealing with the “internal” (gauge) symmetry of the Wess–Zumino–Novikov–Witten (WZNW) model on a compact Lie group G. It contains a systematic exposition, for G = SU(n), of the canonical quantization based on the study of the classical model (performed in the first part) following the quantum group symmetric approach first advocated by L.D. Faddeev and collaborators. The internal symmetry of the quantized model is carried by the chiral WZNW zero modes satisfying quadratic exchange relations and an n-linear determinant condition. For generic values of the deformation parameter the Fock representation of the zero modes’ algebra gives rise to a model space of U q (sl(n)). The relevant root of unity case is studied in detail for n = 2 when a “restricted” (finite dimensional) quotient quantum group is shown to appear in a natural way. The module structure of the zero modes’ Fock space provides a specific duality with the solutions of the Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov equation for the four point functions of primary fields suggesting the existence of an extended state space of logarithmic CFT type. Combining left and right zero modes (i.e., returning to the 2D model), the rational CFT structure shows up in a setting reminiscent to covariant quantization of gauge theories in which the restricted quantum group plays the role of a generalized gauge symmetry.  相似文献
