The nonstatic cylindrically symmetric metric of Einstein-Rosen is considered, and a class of rigorous solutions for the Brans-Dicke scalar-tensor theory in the presence of source-free electromagnetic field is obtained. Since the Brans-Dicke scalar fields coupled with source-free electromagnetic fields are conformal to zero-mass fields combined with source-free electromagnetic fields of Einstein's gravitational theory, the solutions of the present work have been subjected to conformal transformation. These have been found to be the solutions of the coupled zero-mass and electromagnetic cylindrically symmetric fields described by Marder's metric.  相似文献

A non-static exact solution of Einstein’s equations corresponding to a field of flowing null radiation plus an electromagnetic field is presented. The geometry of the solution is described by the Kerr-Schild metric. The solution admits a shear-free, geodetic null congruence. It has the symmetry of the Kerr-Newman solution and when a certain parameter is put equal to zero the solution becomes static and reduces to the Kerr-Newman solution.  相似文献

In the previous work I and II, we have obtained a class of exact solutions for the Brans-Dicke scalar-tensor theory for Einstein-Rosen nonstatic cylindrically symmetric metric when only scalar field is present and then in presence of source-free electromagnetic field. In the present work we have developed a more general sets of solutions from those given in I and II under the unit transformation by Morganstern [Phys. Rev. D 3 (1971), 2946]. These have been found to be the solutions of the Brans-Dicke scalar-tensor theory for the most general cylindrically symmetric metric of Marder.  相似文献

A method is presented which enables one to obtain solutions to the stationary axially symmetric Brans-Dicke fields coupled to source-free Maxwell fields from the solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations in Einstein's theory. Explicit field equations in the general scalar-tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Nordtvedt are obtained with the aid of a static spherically symmetric conformally flat metric. Exact static solutions of Nordtvedt-Barker field equations both in vacuum and in the presence of a source-free electromagnetic field are presented and studied. It is shown that there are no spherically symmetric static conformally flat solutions of Nordtvedt-Barker field equations representing perfect fluid distribution with disordered radiation obeying the equation of state=3p, except for the trivial empty flat space-time of Einstein's theory.  相似文献

The field equations of general relativity are solved to describe a gravitational field due to a rotating homogeneous fluid in the presence of a Maxwellian source-free electromagnetic field. It turns out that the metric to describe this field is the well-known Robertson-Walker metric with positive space-time curvature or its particular case, the metric of the closed Einstein universe.  相似文献

Three exact non-static solutions of Einstein-Maxwell equations corresponding to a field of flowing null radiation plus an electromagnetic field are presented. These solutions are non-static generalizations of the well known Kerr-Newman solution. The current vector is null in all the three solutions. These solutions are the electromagnetic generalizations of the three generalized radiating Kerr solutions discussed by Vaidya and Patel. The solutions discussed by us describe the exterior gravitational fields of rotating radiating charged bodies. Many known solutions are derived as particular cases.  相似文献

The problem of charged perfect fluid distribution is investigated when the space-time is described by the Einstein-Rosen metric. It is shown that with assumed cylindrical symmetry the cosmological constant vanishes, the electromagnetic field becomes source-free, and the perfect fluid reduces to Zel'dovich fluid withp=. Sets of exact solutions for this case have been obtained and the corresponding solutions for Brans-Dicke-Maxwell fields have been derived. For these solutions the Einstein-Rosen metric, however, goes over to three-parameter Marder metric in Brans-Dicke theory.  相似文献

A number of theorems concerning non-null electrovac spacetimes, that is space-times whose metric satisfies the source-free Einstein-Maxwell equations for some non-null bivector Fij, are presented. Firstly, we suppose that the metric is invariant under a one-parameter group of isornetries with Killing vector field ξ. It is proved that the electromagnetic field tensor Fij is invariant under the group, in the sense that its Lie derivative with respect to ξ vanishes, if and only if the gradient αij of the complexion scalar is orthogonal to ξ. It is is also proved that if in addition ξ is hypersurface orthogonal, it is necessarily parallel to α,i. These results are used to generalize theorems of Perjes and Majumdar concerning static electrovac space-times. Secondly, we suppose that the metric is invariant under a two-parameter othogonally transitive Abelian group of isometries. It is proved that in this case Fij is necessarily invariant under the group. The above results can be used to simplify many derivations of exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations.  相似文献

A class of solutions, which may be called the Majumdar-Papapetrou (MP) class, has been derived for static coupled zero-mass and source-free electromagnetic fields. This has been done in two stages. First, it has been shown that the well-known MP relation between theg 44 component of the metric tensor and the electrostatic potential, in certain physical situations, continues to remain the same without being affected by the presence of the zeromass field. Second, using the method of Majumdar, we have developed a theorem that enables one to generate solutions for the coupled field from Einstein's vacuum equations and the solution of a differential equation which, due to its resemblance, may be called a generalized Laplace equation.  相似文献

A new metric depending on three arbitrary parameters is presented by the method of complex coordinate transformations. It gives the gravitational field of a radiating rotating charged body. The metric is algebraically special of Petrov type II according to classification of the Weyl tensor, with a twisting, shear-free, null congruence identical to that of the Kerr-Newman metric. The new metric bears the same relation to the Kerr-Newman metric as the Bonner-Vaidya metric does to the Reissner-Nordstrom metric.  相似文献

A metric containing a parameter (2 = 1) has been derived which represents axially symmetric source-free electromagnetic fields in a static Einstein universe when is put equal to 1. The same metric represents the source-free electromagnetic fields in a Gödel rotating universe when is put equal to-1. Many known solutions are obtained as particular cases.  相似文献

We have obtained relations between certain components of the metric and the electromagnetic potentials for source-free Brans-Dicke-Maxwell fields described by a nonstatic cylindrically symmetric Einstein-Rosen metric. These are important, in the sense that they generate a class of solutions that in a way can be said to belong to the class generated by similar relations obtained by Majumdar [1] and Papapetrou [2] for generalized static Einstein-Maxwell fields. The relations have further been used to reduce the B-D Maxwell equations to B-D vacuum equations and vice versa.  相似文献

Perjes and Israel and Wilson have given independently a new class of solutions of the sourcefree Einstein-Maxwell equations, which can be interpreted as the external gravitational and electromagnetic fields of a spinning source with unit specific charge. Starting from Zipoy's solutions in oblate and prolate spheroidal coordinates for the source-free gravitational field we generate some axially symmetric stationary solutions of the source-free Einstein-Maxwell equations by using Perjes' method. All these solutions become Euclidean at infinity. The asymptotic behavior and the singularity of the solutions are studied in order to gain some insight into the nature of the source. The solution in prolate spheroidal coordinates is found to contain closed timelike lines.  相似文献

It is shown that when a four dimensional source-free Einstein-Maxwell space-time admits a group of motions leaving the electromagnetic field unchanged a linear relation exists between two Maxwell fields and the covariant derivative of a Killing vector. For the case in which the two electromagnetic fields are related by a duality rotation it is seen that a purely geometric form of Einstein's equations may be derived. The behaviour of these under a class of quasi conformal transformations of the metric is shown to lead to Harrison's theorem.  相似文献

In addition to the Kerr metric with cosmological constant Λ several other metrics are presented giving a Kerr-like solution of Einstein’s equations in the background of deSitter universe. A new metric of what may be termed as rotating deSitter space-time—a space-time devoid of matter but containing null fluid with twisting null rays, has been presented. This metric reduces to the standard deSitter metric when the twist in the rays vanishes. Kerr metric in this background is the immediate generalization of Schwarzschild’s exterior metric with cosmological constant.  相似文献
