We consider abstract non-negative self-adjoint operators on L2(X) which satisfy the finite-speed propagation property for the corresponding wave equation. For such operators, we introduce a restriction type condition, which in the case of the standard Laplace operator is equivalent to (p, 2) restriction estimate of Stein and Tomas. Next, we show that in the considered abstract setting, our restriction type condition implies sharp spectral multipliers and endpoint estimates for the Bochner-Riesz summability. We also observe that this restriction estimate holds for operators satisfying dispersive or Strichartz estimates. We obtain new spectral multiplier results for several second order differential operators and recover some known results. Our examples include Schrödinger operators with inverse square potentials on Rn, the harmonic oscillator, elliptic operators on compact manifolds, and Schr¨odinger operators on asymptotically conic manifolds.  相似文献

Bounds on convergence are given for a general class of nonlinear programming algorithms. Methods in this class generate at each interation both constraint multipliers and approximate solutions such that, under certain specified assumptions, accumulation points of the multiplier and solution sequences satisfy the Fritz John or the Kuhn—Tucker optimality conditions. Under stronger assumptions, convergence bounds are derived for the sequences of approximate solution, multiplier and objective function values. The theory is applied to an interior—exterior penalty function algorithm modified to allow for inexact subproblem solutions. An entirely new convergence bound in terms of the square root of the penalty controlling parameter is given for this algorithm.  相似文献

The dynamic effect of Bloch electrons under the action of temporally periodic electric fields is studied. The explicit solutions for the quasienergies and the Floquet states are obtained exactly and generally, from which the localized or extended nature of Floquet states is demonstrated to be controlled by a reduced vector potential in one period of electric fields. When this reduced vector potential is an irrational, all the Floquet states are localized except the cases where the reduced vector potential is extremely well approximated by rationals (i.e., a Liouville number) and simultaneously the instersite hopping does not decay fast enough, for which the Floquet states are found to be more and more extended at large distances. When this reduced vector potential approaches an ordinary rational, all the Floquet states are extended. However, if the reduced vector potential has typical Diophantine properties, and if the intersite hopping decreases fast enough, the Floquet states cannot be extended. In this paper we prove Morse type inequalities for the contractible 1-periodic solutions of time dependent Hamiltonian differential equations on those compact symplectic manifolds M for which the symplectic form and the first Chern class of the tangent bundle vanish over π2 (M). The proof is based on a version of infinite dimensional Morse theory which is due to Floer. The key point is an index theorem for the Fredholm operator which plays a central role in Floer homology. The index formula involves the Maslov index of nondegenerate contractible periodic solutions. This Maslov index plays the same role as the Morse index of a nondegenerate critical point does in finite dimensional Morse theory. We shall use this connection between Floer homology and Maslov index to establish the existence of infinitely many periodic solutions having integer periods provided that every 1-periodic solution has at least one Floquet multiplier which is not equal to 1.  相似文献

We consider the optimal control of a semilinear parabolic equation with pointwise bound constraints on the control and finitely many integral constraints on the final state. Using the standard Robinson’s constraint qualification, we provide a second order necessary condition over a set of strictly critical directions. The main feature of this result is that the qualification condition needed for the second order analysis is the same as for classical finite-dimensional problems and does not imply the uniqueness of the Lagrange multiplier. We establish also a second order sufficient optimality condition which implies, for problems with a quadratic Hamiltonian, the equivalence between solutions satisfying the quadratic growth property in the L 1 and \(L^{\infty }\) topologies.  相似文献

In 1956, Green provided a bound on the order of the Schur multiplier of p-groups. This bound, given as a function of the order of the group, is the best possible. Since then, the bound has been refined numerous times by adding other inputs to the function, such as, the minimal number of generators of the group and the order of the derived subgroup. We strengthen these bounds by adding another input, the group's nilpotency class. The specific cases of nilpotency class 2 and maximal class are discussed in greater detail.  相似文献

For a general ordinary differential operator \(\mathcal {L}\) with periodic coefficients we prove that the characteristic polynomial of the Floquet matrix is irreducible over the field of meromorphic functions. We also consider a multipoint eigenvalue problem and show that its eigenspaces are spanned by pure or generalized Floquet solutions. Finally, at the end of the paper we mention some relevant conjectures and open questions.  相似文献

An analytical approach based on the parametric representation of the wave propagation in non‐uniform media was considered. In addition to the previously developed theory of parametric antiresonance describing the field attenuation in stop bands, in the present paper, the behaviour of the Bloch wave in a transmission band was investigated. Using computational methods, we first show that there are exactly eighteen 3-generator 2-groups of order 210 with trivial Schur multiplier all having deficiency zero. We next generalize one of the groups obtained to exhibit two infinite classes of 3-generator, 3-relation finite 2-groups of high nilpotency class providing an affirmative answer to a problem posed by Havas et al.  相似文献

This paper is aimed toward the definition of a new exact augmented Lagrangian function for two-sided inequality constrained problems. The distinguishing feature of this augmented Lagrangian function is that it employs only one multiplier for each two-sided constraint. We prove that stationary points, local minimizers and global minimizers of the exact augmented Lagrangian function correspond exactly to KKT pairs, local solutions and global solutions of the constrained problem.  相似文献

A widespread and successful approach to tackle unit-commitment problems is constraint decomposition: by dualizing the linking constraints, the large-scale nonconvex problem decomposes into smaller independent subproblems. The dual problem consists then in finding the best Lagrangian multiplier (the optimal “price”); it is solved by a convex nonsmooth optimization method. Realistic modeling of technical production constraints makes the subproblems themselves difficult to solve exactly. Nonsmooth optimization algorithms can cope with inexact solutions of the subproblems. In this case however, we observe that the computed dual solutions show a noisy and unstable behaviour, that could prevent their use as price indicators. In this paper, we present a simple and easy-to-implement way to stabilize dual optimal solutions, by penalizing the noisy behaviour of the prices in the dual objective. After studying the impact of a general stabilization term on the model and the resolution scheme, we focus on the penalization by discrete total variation, showing the consistency of the approach. We illustrate our stabilization on a synthetic example, and real-life problems from EDF (the French Electricity Board).  相似文献

Under investigation in this paper is the Hirota–Maxwell–Bloch system which governs the propagation of optical solitons in nonlinear erbium doped fibers with higher order effects. By virtue of the Darboux transformation, the Akhmediev breathers, Ma-breathers, localized solitons, bound solitons, two-breathers and localized solutions are generated for the Hirota–Maxwell–Bloch system. Considering the influences of higher order effects, propagation properties of the breathers, modulation instability conditions for the Akhmediev breathers and interaction scenarios between bound solitons and two-breather solutions are discussed.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the strong calmness of the KKT solution mapping for a class of canonically perturbed conic programming, which plays a central role in achieving fast convergence under situations when the Lagrange multiplier associated to a solution of these conic optimization problems is not unique. We show that the strong calmness of the KKT solution mapping is equivalent to a local error bound for the solutions to the perturbed KKT system, and is also equivalent to the pseudo-isolated calmness of the stationary point mapping along with the calmness of the multiplier set mapping at the corresponding reference point. Sufficient conditions are also provided for the strong calmness by establishing the pseudo-isolated calmness of the stationary point mapping in terms of the noncriticality of the associated multiplier, and the calmness of the multiplier set mapping in terms of a relative interior condition for the multiplier set. These results cover and extend the existing ones in Hager and Gowda [Stability in the presence of degeneracy and error estimation. This paper is concerned with the orbital instability for a specific class of periodic traveling wave solutions with the mean zero property and large spatial period related to the modified Camassa–Holm equation. These solutions, called snoidal waves, are written in terms of the Jacobi elliptic functions. To prove our result we use the abstract method of Grillakis, Shatah and Strauss [23], the Floquet theory for periodic eigenvalue problems and the n-gaps potentials theory of Dubrovin, Matveev and Novikov [19].  相似文献

We prove uniform local energy decay estimates of solutions to the wave equation on unbounded Riemannian manifolds with nontrapping metrics. These estimates are derived from the properties of the resolvent at high frequency. Applications to a class of asymptotically Euclidean manifolds as well as to perturbations by non-negative long-range potentials are given.  相似文献

We obtain a blow-up result for solutions to a semi-linear wave equation with scale-invariant dissipation and mass and power non-linearity, in the case in which the model has a “wave like” behavior. We perform a change of variables that transforms our starting equation in a strictly hyperbolic semi-linear wave equation with time-dependent speed of propagation. Applying Kato's lemma we prove a blow-up result for solutions to the transformed equation under some assumptions on the initial data. The limit case, that is, when the exponent p is exactly equal to the upper bound of the range of admissible values of p yielding blow-up needs special considerations. In this critical case an explicit integral representation formula for solutions of the corresponding linear Cauchy problem in 1d is derived. Finally, carrying out the inverse change of variables we get a non-existence result for global (in time) solutions to the original model.  相似文献

We consider problems of asymptotic analysis that arise, in particular, in the formalization of effects related to an approximate observation of constraints. We study nonsequential (generally speaking) variants of asymptotic behavior that can be formalized in the class of ultrafilters of an appropriate measurable space. We construct attraction sets in a topological space that are realized in the class of ultrafilters of the corresponding measurable space and specify conditions under which ultrafilters of a measurable space are sufficient for constructing the “complete” attraction set corresponding to applying ultrafilters of the family of all subsets of the space of ordinary solutions. We study a compactification of this space that is constructed in the class of Stone ultrafilters (ultrafilters of a measurable space with an algebra of sets) such that the attraction set is realized as a continuous image of the compact set of generalized solutions; we also study the structure of this compact set in terms of free ultrafilters and ordinary solutions that observe the constraints of the problem exactly. We show that, in the case when there are no exact ordinary solutions, this compact set consists of free ultrafilters only; i.e., it is contained in the remainder of the compactifier (an example is given showing that the similar property may be absent for other variants of the extension of the original problem).  相似文献

该文基于一类HIV-1感染免疫治疗模型,研究了一类具有脉冲免疫治疗的HIV-1感染模型.借助脉冲微分方程理论,研究了脉冲免疫治疗模型解的非负性和一致有界性.利用Floquet乘子理论和微分方程的比较定理,推导出脉冲免疫模型无感染周期解局部和全局渐近稳定以及HIV-1一致持续的阈值条件.通过数值模拟,比较了3种不同治疗方案的治疗效果,验证了脉冲免疫治疗的有效性.数值模拟结果表明,当药物输入量足够大或服药间隔适当短时,从理论上可以有效控制甚至根除病毒.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the propagation of waves in a closed full or half waveguide where the index of refraction is periodic along the axis of the waveguide. Motivated by the limiting absorption principle, proven in the Appendix by a functional analytic perturbation theorem, we formulate a radiation condition that assures uniqueness of a solution and allows the existence of propagating modes. Our approach is quite different to the known one as, eg, considered recently by Fliss and Joly and allows an extension to open wave guides. After application of the Floquet‐Bloch transform, we consider the Bloch variable α as a parameter in the resulting quasiperiodic boundary value problem and study the behaviour of the solution when α tends to an exceptional value by a singular perturbation result, which goes back to Colton and Kress.  相似文献
