Approximation of harmonic functions on compact sets in ℂ

Bounded projections and duality on spaces of holomorphic functions in the unit ball ofℂ n

In this paper three Banach spacesA ₀(),A andA ¹() of functions holomorphic in the unit ballB of ⁿ are defined. We exhibit bounded projections fromC ₀(B) ontoA ₀(), fromL ¹(B) ontoA ¹(), and fromL(B) ontoA(). On the injectivity of twisted spherical means on ℂ n

In this paper we study the injectivity and injectivity sets for the twisted spherical means on ℂ ⁿ . These results are then used to study the same problems on the reduced Hiesenberg group.     

Schwarz-Pick estimates for bounded holomorphic functions in the unit ball of ℂ n

We give a Schwarz-Pick estimate for bounded holomorphic functions on unit ball in Cn, and generalize some early work of Schwarz-Pick estimates for bounded holomorphic functions on unit disk in C.     

Toeplitz and Hankel matrices on ℂ n

It is known that the characterizations of the Toeplitz operatorT onH ² and also the Hankel operatorH onH ² by using the simple unilateral shiftT _z . Recently, some characterization of the normal Toeplitz matrix truncated on ⁿ is given by D.R.Farenick, M. Krupnik, N. Krupnik and W. Y. Lee [1] and, independently, by T.Ito [2]. In this paper, we shall give some characterizations of the Toeplitz matrix and also the Hankel matrix truncated on ⁿ .Dedicated to Professor Masanori Fukamiya on his 88th birthday     

Boundary regularity of correspondences in ℂn

LetM, M′ be smooth, real analytic hypersurfaces of finite type in ℂⁿ and a holomorphic correspondence (not necessarily proper) that is defined on one side ofM, extends continuously up toM and mapsM to M′. It is shown that must extend acrossM as a locally proper holomorphic correspondence. This is a version for correspondences of the Diederich-Pinchuk extension result for CR maps.     

Zygmund Type Mean Lipschitz Spaces on the Unit Ball of ℂ n

On the unit ball of ? ⁿ , the space of those holomorphic functions satisfying mean Lipschitz condition $$ \int_0^1 \omega^*_p(t, f)^q \frac{dt}{t^{1+ q}} <\infty$$ is characterized by integral growth conditions of the tangential derivatives as well as the radial derivatives, where \(\omega^*_p(t, f)\) denotes the double difference L ^p modulus of continuity defined in terms of the unitary transformations of ? ⁿ .     

Proof of a conjecture of Pólya on the zeros of successive derivatives of real entire functions

We prove Pólya’s conjecture of 1943: For a real entire function of order greater than 2 with finitely many non-real zeros, the number of non-real zeros of the nth derivative tends to infinity, as . We use the saddle point method and potential theory, combined with the theory of analytic functions with positive imaginary part in the upper half-plane.     

The α-orthogonal complements of regular Dirichlet subspaces for one-dimensional Brownian motion

Roughly speaking a regular Dirichlet subspace of a Dirichlet form is a subspace which is also a regular Dirichlet form on the same state space. In particular, the domain of regular Dirichlet subspace is a closed subspace of the Hilbert space induced by the domain and α-inner product of original Dirichlet form. We investigate the orthogonal complement of regular Dirichlet subspace for one-dimensional Brownian motion in this paper. Our main results indicate that this orthogonal complement has a very close connection with theα-harmonic equation under Neumann type condition.     

A class of normal weighted composition operators on the Fock space of ℂ n

This paper characterizes a class of normal weighted composition operators and their spectrum on the Fock space of Cⁿ.     

About the Cohomology of the Lie Superalgebra of Vector Fields on ℝ n|n

In this article, we compute the first space of cohomology of Vect (? ^n|n ), the Lie superalgebra of vector fields on the supermanifold ? ^n|n with coefficients in 𝒻 (? ^n|n ), the space of smooth functions on ? ^n|n . We give a super analog of the cohomologies of vector fields that where studied for instance by Fuchs [2 Fuchs , D. B. ( 1986 ). Cohomology of Infinite Dimensional Lie Algebras . New York : Consultants Bureau . [Google Scholar]]. This work allows us to classify the deformations of the action of Vect(? ^n|n ) on 𝒻 (? ^n|n ).     

On entire functions whose derivatives are¶integer-valued on geometric progressions

In this paper we study functions which together with all their derivatives take values in a number field ? on a sequence (u _n ) in ? satisfying certain conditions. As one corollary we get a result on the growth rate of entire transcendental functions whose derivatives assume integral values on the geometric progression u ⁿ ,n= 0,1,…. In a second theorem we prove that the lower bound for the growth rate stated in the corollary is best possible. Received: 16 May 2000     

Darboux property of Gâteaux derivatives of functions on ℝ n

D. Preiss proved that the graph of the derivative of a continuous Gateaux-differentiable function f : ℝ² → ℝ is always connected. We show that this is no longer true in higher dimensions: we construct a continuous, Gateaux-differentiable function f : ℝ³ → ℝ for which the range of its gradient mapping {∇ f(x) : x ∈ ℝ³} is disconnected. We also give an example of an approximately differentiable continuous function on ℝ² such that the range of its gradient mapping is disconnected. Remarks on ω-domination of discrete subspaces

Abstract

Given a space X, we will say that a class of subsets of X is dominated by a class ? if for any A ∈ , there exists a B ∈ ? such that A ? . In particular, all (closed) discrete subsets of X are countably dominated (which we frequently abbreviate as ω-dominated) if, for any (closed) discrete set D ? X, there exists a countable set B ? X such that D ? . In this paper, we investigate the topological properties of spaces in which (closed) discrete subspaces are dominated either by countable subsets or by Lindelöf subspaces.
