Flavour physics has a long tradition of paving the way for direct discoveries of new particles and interactions. Results over the last decade have placed stringent bounds on the parameter space of physics beyond the Standard Model. Early results from the LHC, and its dedicated flavour factory LHCb, have further tightened these constraints and reiterate the ongoing relevance of flavour studies. The experimental status of flavour observables in the charm and beauty sectors is reviewed in measurements of CP violation, neutral meson mixing, and measurements of rare decays.  相似文献

This write-up on a talk at the 2011 Lepton?CPhoton symposium in Mumbai, India, summarizes recent results in the charged-lepton flavour sector. Searches for charged-lepton flavour violation, lepton electric dipole moments and flavour-conserving CP violation are reviewed here. Recent progress in ??-lepton physics and in the Standard Model prediction of the muon anomalous magnetic moment is also discussed.  相似文献

The main issue for kaon physics in the next decade is a systematic study of the rare decay modes to test the unitarity of the quark flavour mixing matrix, the global symmetries of the Standard Model and new physics with the highest possible precision.  相似文献

We define the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix and briefly discuss its present determination. We recall the formalism for heavy-meson mixing and CP violation in meson decays. Finally we extend our discussion of flavour and CP violation beyond the Standard Model.  相似文献

The decay B0 d→D+D- offers an interesting probe of CP violation, but it requires control of penguin effects, which can be done through B0 s→D+ sD- s by means of the U-spin flavour symmetry of strong interactions. Recently, the Belle collaboration reported indications of large CP violation in the B0 d decay, which were, however, not confirmed by BaBar, and first signals of the B0 s channel were observed at the Tevatron. In view of these developments and the quickly approaching start of the LHC, we explore the allowed region in observable space for CP violation in B0 d→D+D-, perform theoretical estimates of the relevant hadronic penguin parameters and observables, and we address questions both about the most promising strategies for the extraction of CP-violating phases and about the interplay with other measurements of CP violation and the search for new physics. As far as the latter aspect is concerned, we point out that the B0 q→Dq +D- q system provides a setting for the determination of the B0 q–B̄0 q mixing phases (q∈{d,s}) that is complementary to the conventional B0 d→J/ψKS and B0 s→J/ψφ modes with respect to possible new-physics effects in the electroweak penguin sector.  相似文献

It is shown that in R-parity violating models of supersymmetry, the CP violation observed in the kaon system could arise purely from the R-parity violating scalar interactions (A-terms), with no CP violation in the CKM matrix. The direct CP violating parameter, ′, could be as large or larger than that expected in the Standard Model. CP violation in the B system however is expected to be negligible.  相似文献

There are currently two hints for new physics involving CP violation in bs transitions: ΔSS f − S J ϕK ≠ 0, and difference in direct CP asymmetry ΔA A K+π 0A K+π ≠ 0. We explore the two scenarios with a large and unique new CP phase in bs transitions. Motivated by ΔS ≠ 0, we update on the right-handed strange-beauty squark sb 1R at TeV scale. Motivated by ΔA ≠ 0, we explore sequential fourth generation t′ and b′ quarks. Both scenarios can survive constraints such as SM level bsγ, sll and B s mixing, and predict sizable CP violation in B s mixing. The fourth generation picture predicts sizable K Lπ 0 vv. Direct search for sb R, b′ and t′ at hadronic colliders, such as Tevatron Run II and LHC, can complement further CP violation studies at these machines, as well as at the future Super B factory.  相似文献

We study CP asymmetries in rare B decays within supersymmetry with a U(2)3 flavour symmetry, motivated by the SUSY flavour and CP problems, the hierarchies in the Yukawa couplings and the absence so far of any direct evidence for SUSY. Even in the absence of flavour-blind phases, we find potentially sizable CP violating contributions to bs decay amplitudes. The effects in the mixing-induced CP asymmetries in BϕK S and BηK S , angular CP asymmetries in BK μ + μ and the direct CP asymmetry in BX s γ can be in the region to be probed by LHCb and next generation B factories. At the same time, these effects in B decays are compatible with CP violating contributions to meson mixing, including a non-standard B s mixing phase hinted by current tensions in the CKM fit mostly between SyKS, eKS_{\psi K_{S}}, \epsilon_{K} and DMBs/DMBd\Delta M_{B_{s}}/\Delta M_{B_{d}}.  相似文献

The recent measurements of the Bs mass difference Δ Ms by the CDF and DO collaborations are roughly consistent with the Standard Model predictions, therefore, these measurements will afford an opportunity to constrain new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model. We consider the impact of the R-parity violating supersymmetry in the B0s—B0s mixing, and use the latest experimental results of ΔMs to constrain the size of the R-parity violating tree level couplings in the B0s—B0s mixing. Then, using the constrained RPV parameter space from ΔMs, we show the R-parity violating effects on the Bs width difference ΔΓs.  相似文献

Using the preliminary data on BdB̄d mixing from ARGUS, and the standard model with three families, we infer a lower bound on the top quark mass of 50–70 GeV; also, BsB̄s mixing has to be close to maximal. We discuss how the prospects for observing CP violation in B0 decays are enhanced and sketch alternative scenarios for new physics.  相似文献

We study CP violation in a multi-Higgs doublet model based on aS 3×Z 3 horizontal symmetry. We consider two mechanisms for CP violation in this model: a) CP violation due to complex Yukawa couplings; and b) CP violation due to scalarpseudoscalar mixings. We find that the predictions for ε′/ε, CP violation in B decays and the electric dipole moments of neutron and electron are different between these two mechanisms. These predictions are also dramatically different from the minimal Standard Model predictions.  相似文献

No Heading Several works analyzing the new physics contributions from the Left-Right Symmetric Model to the CP violation phenomena in the neutral B mesons can be found in the literature. These works exhibit interesting and experimentally sensible deviations from the Standard Model predictions but at the expense of considering a low right scale υR around 1 TeV. However, when we stick to the more conservative estimates for υR, which say that it must be at least 107 GeV, no experimentally sensible deviations from the Standard Model appear for indirect CP violation. This estimate for υR arises when the generation of neutrino masses is considered. In spite of the fact that this scenario is much less interesting and says nothing new about both the CP violation phenomenon and the structure of the Left-Right Symmetric Model, this possibility must be taken into account for the sake of completeness and when considering the see-saw mechanism that provides masses to the neutrino sector. 1 Associate researcher of the Centro Internacional de Física, Ciudad Universitaria, Bogotá D.C., Colombia.  相似文献

We consider charged lepton flavour violation (LFV) in the constrained minimal supersymmetric Standard Model, extended to include the see-saw mechanism with constrained sequential dominance (CSD), where CSD provides a natural see-saw explanation of tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing. When charged lepton corrections to tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing are included, we discover characteristic correlations among the LFV branching ratios, depending on the mass ordering of the right-handed neutrinos, with a pronounced dependence on the leptonic mixing angle θ13θ13 (and in some cases also on the Dirac CP phase δ).  相似文献

Recently, both BaBar and Belle experiments found evidences of neutral D mixing. In this paper, we discuss the sensitivities of the measurements of D mixing parameters at BES-Ⅲ. With CP tag technique at ψ(3770) peak, the extraction of the strong phase difference in D0→Kπ decay at BES-Ⅲ are discussed. We also make an estimate on the measurements of the mixing rate RM by using the coherent data at ψ(3770) peak. The CP violation in D system is predicted with an unobserved level in the Standard Model. Any significant CP violation in the D system indicates the existence of new physics. The sensitivity of the measurements of CP violation in the D system is estimated in the coherent D decays. Finally, the search for the rare D decays are discussed, in which some of the forbidden decays are smoking gun of new physics.  相似文献

Using the ARGUS detector at thee + e storage ring DORIS II, flavour-dependent kaon production inB meson decays has been studied. Using the leptons as flavour tags, it has been possible to separately measure the multiplicities ofK +,K andK s 0 in inclusiveB decays and in semileptonicB decays. The kaon production in semileptonicB decays was further used to estimate the ratio of charmed decays over all decays, and thus also the fraction of charmlessB decays.DESY, IfH Zeuthen  相似文献

Several years ago, it was pointed out that the U-spin-related decays Bd→π+π-, Bs→K+K- and Bd→πK±, Bs→π±K offer interesting strategies for the extraction of the angle γ of the unitarity triangle. Using the first results from the Tevatron on the Bs decays and the B-factory data on Bu,d modes, we compare the determinations of γ from both strategies, study the sensitivity on U-spin-breaking effects, discuss the resolution of discrete ambiguities, predict observables that were not yet measured but will be accessible at LHCb, explore the extraction of the width difference ΔΓs from untagged Bs→K+K- rates, and address the impact of new physics. The data for the Bd→π+π-, Bs→K+K- system favour the BaBar measurement of direct CP violation in Bd→π+π-, which will be used in the numerical analysis and result in a fortunate situation, yielding γ=(66.6+4.3+4.0 -5.0-3.0)°, where the latter errors correspond to a generous estimate of U-spin-breaking effects. On the other hand, the Bd→πK±, Bs→π±K analysis leaves us with 26°≤γ≤70°, and points to a value of the Bs→π±K branching ratio that is larger than the current Tevatron result. An important further step will be the measurement of mixing-induced CP violation in Bs→K+K-, which will also allow us to extract the B0 s–B̄0 s mixing phase unambiguously with the help of Bs→J/ψφ at the LHC. Finally, the measurement of direct CP violation in Bs→K+K- will make the full exploitation of the physics potential of the Bs,d→ππ,πK,KK modes possible.  相似文献

We examine quantitatively the expectation of a symmetric quark mixing using recent lattice QCD calculations on the various hadronic matrix elements. We present a general parametrization of the symmetric CKM matrix which has directly measurable parameters. The direct measurements of the CKM matrix elements, unitarity and CP violation are used to constrain the parameters. The symmetric CKM matrix is also confronted with ε in the kaon system,x d of \(B_d^0 - \bar B_d^0 \) mixing, and ε′/ε of ΔS=1 CP-violation in the kaon system. Our analyses reveal that the symmetric CKM matrix is consistent with the present experiments, providedm t>130 GeV. The factorf Bd 2 B Bd plays an important role in reaching the conclusions.  相似文献
