This paper deals with a nonlinear string-beam system describing the torsional-vertical oscillations of a suspension bridge. We consider the initial-boundary value problem and study the existence and uniqueness question. We assume time independent right hand sides, but allow quite general nonlinear terms. Using the Faedo-Galerkin method we prove the existence of a unique solution on an arbitrary large time interval. 相似文献

For the third order differential equation, y?=f(x,y,y′,y″), where f(x,y1,y2,y3) is Lipschitz continuous in terms of yi, i=1,2,3, we obtain optimal bounds on the length of intervals on which there exist unique solutions of certain nonlocal three and four point boundary value problems. Here we examine the partial regularity of minimizers of a functional used for image restoration in BV space. This functional is a combination of a regularized p-Laplacian for the part of the image with small gradient and a total variation functional for the part with large gradient. This model was originally introduced in Chambolle and Lions using the Laplacian. Due to the singular nature of the p-Laplacian we study a regularized p-Laplacian. We show that where the gradient is small, the regularized p-Laplacian smooths the image u, in the sense that u∈C1,α for some 0<α<1. This functional thus anisotropically smooths the image where the gradient is small and preserves edges via total variation where the gradient is large. 相似文献

Substructuring preconditioners for saddle-point problems arising from Maxwell's equations in three dimensions 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper is concerned with the saddle-point problems arising from edge element discretizations of Maxwell's equations in a general three dimensional nonconvex polyhedral domain. A new augmented technique is first introduced to transform the problems into equivalent augmented saddle-point systems so that they can be solved by some existing preconditioned iterative methods. Then some substructuring preconditioners are proposed, with very simple coarse solvers, for the augmented saddle-point systems. With the preconditioners, the condition numbers of the preconditioned systems are nearly optimal; namely, they grow only as the logarithm of the ratio between the subdomain diameter and the finite element mesh size.
