We give a characterization of the non-empty binary relations ? on a N*-set A such that there exist two morphisms of N*-sets u1,u2:AR+ verifying u1?u2 and x?yu1(x)>u2(y). They are called homothetic interval orders. If ? is a homothetic interval order, we also give a representation of ? in terms of one morphism of N*-sets u:AR+ and a map such that x?yσ(x,y)u(x)>u(y). The pairs (u1,u2) and (u,σ) are “uniquely” determined by ?, which allows us to recover one from each other. We prove that ? is a semiorder (resp. a weak order) if and only if σ is a constant map (resp. σ=1). If moreover A is endowed with a structure of commutative semigroup, we give a characterization of the homothetic interval orders ? represented by a pair (u,σ) so that u is a morphism of semigroups.  相似文献

A new lower bound on the smallest eigenvalue τ(AB) for the Fan product of two nonsingular M-matrices A and B is given. Meanwhile, we also obtain a new upper bound on the spectral radius ρ(A°B) for nonnegative matrices A and B. These bounds improve some results of Huang (2008) [R. Huang, Some inequalities for the Hadamard product and the Fan product of matrices, Linear Algebra Appl. 428 (2008) 1551-1559].  相似文献

Let H and its dual H* be finite dimensional semisimple Hopf algebras. In this paper, we firstly prove that the derived representation types of an algebra A and the crossed product algebra A#σH are coincident. This is an improvement of the conclusion about representation type of an algebra in Li and Zhang [Sci China Ser A, 2006, 50: 1-13]. Secondly, we give the relationship between Gorenstein projective modules over A and that over A#σH. Then, using this result, it is proven that A is a finite dimensional CM-finite Gorenstein algebra if and only if so is A#σH.  相似文献

We prove uniform decay estimates at infinity for solutions 0?uLp of the semilinear elliptic inequality Δu+auσ+bu?0, a,b?0, σ?1, in the presence of a Sobolev inequality (with potential term). This gives a unified point of view in the investigation of different geometric questions. In particular, we present applications to the study of the topology at infinity of parallel mean curvature submanifolds, to the non-compact Yamabe problem, and to estimate the decay rate of the traceless Ricci tensor of conformally flat manifolds.  相似文献

Many problems in science and engineering require the evaluation of functionals of the form Fu(A)=uTf(A)u, where A is a large symmetric matrix, u a vector, and f a nonlinear function. A popular and fairly inexpensive approach to determining upper and lower bounds for such functionals is based on first carrying out a few steps of the Lanczos procedure applied to A with initial vector u, and then evaluating pairs of Gauss and Gauss-Radau quadrature rules associated with the tridiagonal matrix determined by the Lanczos procedure. The present paper extends this approach to allow the use of rational Gauss quadrature rules.  相似文献

The class of commutative von Neumann regular rings is characterized by a generalization of the feedback cyclization property to non-necessarily reachable systems: for any system (A,B), there exist a matrix K and a vector u such that (A,B) and the single-input system (A+BK,Bu) have the same submodule of reachable states. In the present article we provide an example of two closed non-σ-lower porous sets A,B ? ? such that the product A × B is lower porous. On the other hand, we prove the following: Let X and Y be topologically complete metric spaces, let A ? X be a non-σ-lower porous Suslin set and let B ? Y be a non-σ-porous Suslin set. Then the product A × B is non-σ-lower porous. We also provide a brief summary of some basic properties of lower porosity, including a simple characterization of Suslin non-σ-lower porous sets in topologically complete metric spaces.  相似文献

In this article, we study tensor product of Hilbert C*-modules and Hilbert spaces. We show that if E is a Hilbert A-module and F is a Hilbert B-module, then tensor product of frames (orthonormal bases) for E and F produce frames (orthonormal bases) for Hilbert AB-module EF, and we get more results. For Hilbert spaces H and K, we study tensor product of frames of subspaces for H and K, tensor product of resolutions of the identities of H and K, and tensor product of frame representations for H and K.  相似文献

We define a natural discriminant for a hyperelliptic curve X of genus g over a field K as a canonical element of the (8g+4)th tensor power of the maximal exterior product of the vectorspace of global differential forms on X. If v is a discrete valuation on K and X has semistable reduction at v, we compute the order of vanishing of the discriminant at v in terms of the geometry of the reduction of X over v. As an application, we find an upper bound for the Arakelov self-intersection of the relative dualizing sheaf on a semistable hyperelliptic arithmetic surface.  相似文献

For an operator bimodule X over von Neumann algebras A⊆B(H) and B⊆B(K), the space of all completely bounded A,B-bimodule maps from X into B(K,H), is the bimodule dual of X. Basic duality theory is developed with a particular attention to the Haagerup tensor product over von Neumann algebras. To X a normal operator bimodule Xn is associated so that completely bounded A,B-bimodule maps from X into normal operator bimodules factorize uniquely through Xn. A construction of Xn in terms of biduals of X, A and B is presented. Various operator bimodule structures are considered on a Banach bimodule admitting a normal such structure.  相似文献

This is a slight extension of an expository paper I wrote a while ago as a supplement to my joint work with Declan Quinn on Burnside's theorem for Hopf algebras. It was never published, but may still be of interest to students and beginning researchers.

Let K be a field, and let A be an algebra over K. Then the tensor product A ? A = A ? K A is also a K-algebra, and it is quite possible that there exists an algebra homomorphism Δ: A → A ? A. Such a map Δ is called a comultiplication, and the seemingly innocuous assumption on its existence provides A with a good deal of additional structure. For example, using Δ, one can define a tensor product on the collection of A-modules, and when A and Δ satisfy some rather mild axioms, then A is called a bialgebra. Classical examples of bialgebras include group rings K[G] and Lie algebra enveloping rings U(L). Indeed, most of this paper is devoted to a relatively self-contained study of some elementary bialgebra properties of these examples. Furthermore, Δ determines a convolution product on Hom K (A, A), and this leads quite naturally to the definition of a Hopf algebra.  相似文献

If A and B are nonsingular M-matrices, a sharp lower bound on the smallest eigenvalue τ(AB) for the Fan product of A and B is given, and a sharp lower bound on τ(A°B-1) for the Hadamard product of A and B-1 is derived. The notion of a capped tensor product, introduced by G. Grätzer and the author, provides a convenient framework for the study of tensor products of lattices that makes it possible to extend many results from the finite case to the infinite case. In this paper, we answer several open questions about tensor products of lattices. Among the results that we obtain are the following:¶¶Theorem 2. Let A be a lattice with zero. If A ?B A \oplus B is a lattice for every lattice L with zero, then A is locally finite and A ?B A \oplus B is a capped tensor product for every lattice L with zero.¶¶Theorem 5. There exists an infinite, three-generated, 2-modular lattice K with zero such that K ?K K \oplus K is a capped tensor product.¶¶Here, 2-modularity is a weaker identity than modularity, introduced earlier by G. Let K be a proper (i.e., closed, pointed, full convex) cone in Rn. An n×n matrix A is said to be K-primitive if there exists a positive integer k such that ; the least such k is referred to as the exponent of A and is denoted by γ(A). For a polyhedral cone K, the maximum value of γ(A), taken over all K-primitive matrices A, is called the exponent of K and is denoted by γ(K). It is proved that if K is an n-dimensional polyhedral cone with m extreme rays then for any K-primitive matrix A, γ(A)?(mA−1)(m−1)+1, where mA denotes the degree of the minimal polynomial of A, and the equality holds only if the digraph (E,P(A,K)) associated with A (as a cone-preserving map) is equal to the unique (up to isomorphism) usual digraph associated with an m×m primitive matrix whose exponent attains Wielandt's classical sharp bound. As a consequence, for any n-dimensional polyhedral cone K with m extreme rays, γ(K)?(n−1)(m−1)+1. Our work answers in the affirmative a conjecture posed by Steve Kirkland about an upper bound of γ(K) for a polyhedral cone K with a given number of extreme rays.  相似文献

In a recent paper by J.M. Varah, an upper bound for 6A-16 was determined, under the assumption that A is strictly diagonally dominant, and this bound was then used to obtain a lower bound for the smallest singular value for A. In this note, this upper bound for 6A-16 is sharpened, and extended to a wider class of matrices. This bound is then used to obtain an improved lower bound for the smallest singular value of a matrix.  相似文献

This is the first in a series of papers on configurations in an abelian category A. Given a finite partially ordered set (I,?), an (I,?)-configuration(σ,ι,π) is a finite collection of objects σ(J) and morphisms ι(J,K) or π(J,K):σ(J)→σ(K) in A satisfying some axioms, where J,K are subsets of I. Configurations describe how an object X in A decomposes into subobjects, and are useful for studying stability conditions on A.We define and motivate the idea of configurations, and explain some natural operations upon them—subconfigurations, quotient configurations, substitution, refinements and improvements. Then we study moduli spaces of (I,?)-configurations in A, and natural morphisms between them, using the theory of Artin stacks. We prove well-behaved moduli stacks exist when A is the abelian category of coherent sheaves on a projective scheme P, or of representations of a quiver Q.In the sequels, given a stability condition (τ,T,?) on A, we will show the moduli spaces of τ-(semi)stable objects or configurations are constructible subsets in the moduli stacks of all objects or configurations. We associate infinite-dimensional algebras of constructible functions to a quiver Q using the method of Ringel-Hall algebras, and define systems of invariants of P that ‘count’ τ-(semi)stable coherent sheaves on P and satisfy interesting identities.  相似文献
