It is shown in this paper that many new sensitive phase photonic crystal devices will be developed, if some existing problems
can be overcome. The main problems are the rapid change of light intensity around the defect mode and the influence of the
substrate. The method for overcoming these problems is to construct the defective photonic crystal in a heterostructure or
an asymmetric structure. The phase properties of asymmetric one-dimensional photonic crystals with couple defects are revealed
in this paper. As examples, a phase modulator and a phase switch with very high sensitivity are demonstrated.

An intersection based on photonic crystal coupled resonator optical waveguides is proposed and analyzed. The two waveguides are designed to have different transmission bands without overlap, which enables light in the two corresponding bands to propagate through the intersection with no cross talk and with excellent transmission. The MIT Photonic-Bands code is used to calculate the band structures of photonic crystal waveguides. The finite-difference time-domain method is used to simulate the relevant structures. 相似文献

In this paper, we have studied the one-dimensional photonic crystal (PC) including a magneto-optical metal defect using the developed transfer matrix method for magnetic materials. Around the two interfaces between metal and one-dimensional PC, two nonsymmetric Tamm magneto-plasmon polaritons may be excited and coupled. The coupled states take on a clear nonreciprocal behavior and result in nonreciprocal transmission. The results are demonstrated through electromagnetic field distribution simulations based on finite element software. It provides a useful reference to realize optical isolator design. 相似文献

研究光子晶体光纤中光纤光栅的传输谱特性对于研制基于光子晶体光纤的光纤光栅器件有着重要的意义。结合耦合模理论和光束传输相关函数方法,对一种典型光子晶体光纤中的布拉格光栅(FBG)传输谱进行了理论分析。比较了光子晶体光纤中布拉格光栅与常规布拉格光栅的传输谱。数值分析了光纤截面结构变化对于光栅传输谱的影响,并给出这种影响的定性解释。计算结果显示,与常规光纤光栅相比,包层模共振引起的损耗峰与正反向纤芯模耦合引起的损耗峰可以相比拟,而包层模共振的间隔也比常规光纤中光纤光栅的包层模共振间隔要大。同时给出了晶体光纤截面上空气孔的占空比,空气孔的排布层数对于传输谱影响的规律。 相似文献

研究了波状结构二维光子晶体(2DPC)在红外波段的负折射近场成像,对其等频面进行了分析,指出波状结构二维光子晶体无法实现负折射远场成像的原因在于缺少与入射介质等频面相匹配的光子晶体圆形等频面,所用的矩形等频面使波状膜层二维光子晶体不可避免地具有各向异性特征,进而将成像限制在近场范围内。采用时域有限差分(时域有限差分)方法模拟了不同厚度的波状结构二维光子晶体近场成像效果,当厚度为两倍栅格常量时,单光源的成像分辨力为0.28λ,达到亚波长分辨效果。分辨力随着光源逐渐远离近场范围而降低,而像点的位置基本不随光源距离和光子晶体厚度的变化而改变。双光源的成像模拟进一步验证了波状结构二维光子晶体的近场亚波长成像能力,分辨力达到0.35λ,但成像质量受光子晶体厚度变化的影响较大。 相似文献

We propose optical cross connect filters using photonic crystal ring resonators coupled waveguide crossings. We investigate the properties of this component numerically by using the finite-difference time-domain method. Our simulations reveal that the photonic crystal based cross connect filter has more than 92% normalized transmission. Extending our concept for cross connection applications, we demonstrate a 1 × 2 PC-based cross connect filter which utilizes a heterostructure. In this filter, at the resonance of each ring resonator, the normalized power transferred to the related waveguide of the two drop waveguides is found to be more than 91%. 相似文献

A two-dimensional photonic crystal heterostructure, which consists of two photonic crystals of a square lattice of circular columns with reverse dielectric configurations, is proposed. Photonic band gap properties are calculated using a plane-wave method and the transmission spectra are obtained. After optimization, the relative width of the complete band gap reached 13.8% based on the simple unit-cell shape and crystal lattice. The photonic crystal heterostructure opens up new ways of engineering photonic band gap materials and designing photonic crystal devices. 相似文献

We design a compact ring resonator of surface modes based on photonic crystals (PCs). The structure is formed by sandwiching a surface mode ring waveguide (SMRW) into two parallel surface mode waveguide (SMW) based on two dimensional (2D) PCs. The SMRW is created on the surface of a circular photonic crystal (CPC) structure, where the wave propagates with high transmission efficiency. As a fundamental mode is introduced in the input SMW, at certain frequencies, the SMRW modes are enhanced because of resonance and the light-waves are coupled to the output SMW. It is demonstrated by the simulation results that the surface mode ring resonator has a low radiation loss with a very small size because of the good wave-guiding of surface mode based on PCs, and can be used in the future wavelength division multiplex (WDM) optics communication systems. 相似文献

以二维三角晶格光子晶体为研究对象,在该光子晶体中引入两行以一行耦合介质柱为间距的平行单模线缺陷波导.通过分析和研究光子晶体波导耦合结构的耦合和解耦合特性,发现在不同频率下耦合波导的耦合长度不同.利用平面波展开法和定向耦合原理计算了在不同入射光频率下,缺陷波导间耦合波导的耦合长度,设计了一种新型超微光子晶体波导耦合型三波长功分器,实现了归一化频率分别为0.369、0.394、0.435的光波的分束效果.采用时域有限差分法验证了该功分器具有很好的功率分配效果.本文结果有助于光子晶体新型滤波器、定向耦合器、波分复用器、偏振光分束器以及光开关等光子器件的研究. 相似文献

In the actual manufacturing process of photonic crystal structure, unavoidable error can generate slight disorder which may influence the performance of photonic crystal based device. In this work, randomly distributional disorders are applied to the air holes in the photonic crystal structure. Based on this, we investigate the influence of the slight disorder on the photonic crystal band structure and the performance of photonic crystal based devices (waveguide and slab cavity). The studies indicate that the slight disorder provides small influence on the band structure of the photonic crystal. But, the random disorder in photonic crystal waveguide may increase transmission loss obviously when the wavelength of the light and the distribution of disorder break the balance of multiple interferences. Also, the slight disorder can reduce the Q factor of the photonic crystal cavity at a certain degree. The studies may provide some useful guides for further photonic crystal device research. 相似文献

An analysis of the 3-dB modulation bandwidth in planar waveguide laser based on 1D photonic crystal structures is presented. The theoretical model takes into account the gain saturation effect, transverse and longitudinal field distribution. A small-signal perturbation solution of the coupled laser rate equation is used to obtain relations describing the dynamic operation. In paper, the distributed Bragg resonator DBR created as 1D photonic crystal is considered. The active waveguide is surrounded by 1D photonic crystal mirrors consisting of alternately placed stripes with different refractive indices. In particular, the influence of the photonic crystal parameters on the 3-dB modulation bandwidth is investigated. 相似文献

光子晶体微腔和量子点的集成是实现量子信息处理非常具有潜力的平台之一,利用微腔和量子点的耦合可以制备纠缠光子对,实现对量子态的操控.因为光子晶体微腔具有品质因子高、模场体积小等优点,可以极大地增强光与物质之间的相互作用,从而易于实现量子态在不同物理体系之间的转换.通过单量子点和光子晶体H1微腔的耦合可以产生纠缠光子对,因为H1微腔具有简并的、模式偏振正交的基态模式.通常微腔模式的激发随着量子点在微腔中的位置变化而改变,本文用时域有限差分方法研究了偶极子光源的位置及偏振对激发光子晶体H1微腔模式的影响.结果表明:通过改变偶极子光源位置可以选择性地激发H1微腔简并模式中的一个;具有某一偏振的偶极子光源只能激发相应偏振的微腔模式;模式激发强度的大小也是由偶极子光源在微腔中的位置决定的.鉴于目前量子点在微腔中的位置尚不能精确控制,所以微腔模式受激发光源位置的影响的研究具有重要意义. 相似文献

Optical Tamm states localized at the edges of a photonic crystal bounded from one or both sides by a nanocomposite have been studied. The nanocomposite consists of metallic nanoinclusions, which have a spherical or orientationally ordered spheroidal shape and are dispersed in a transparent matrix, and is characterized by the resonant effective permittivity. The transmission, reflection, and absorption spectra have been calculated for waves with longitudinal and transverse polarizations in such structures at the normal incidence of light. The spectral manifestation of Tamm states that is due to the existence of negative values of the real part of the effective permittivity has been analyzed for the visible spectral range. It has been established that the characteristics of Tamm states localized at the edge of the photonic crystal depend strongly both on the concentration of nanoballs in the nanocomposite film and on its thickness. Modes formed by two coupled Tamm plasmon polaritons localized at the edges of the photonic crystal adjacent to two nanocomposite layers have been examined. It has been shown that, in the case of the anisotropic nanocomposite layer adjacent to the photonic crystal, each of two orthogonal polarizations of the incident wave corresponds to a specific frequency of the Tamm state localized at the edge; owing to this property, the transmission spectra of such a structure are polarization sensitive. 相似文献

A local tuning of the modes of photonic crystal systems both to blue and to red sides of the resonance is implemented by nano-infiltration/evaporation of water and laser micro-oxidation. This technology is used to completely control coupled photonic nanocavities (photonic crystal molecules). Beside the standard condition of zero detuning between identical modes of the two cavities (homoatomic molecule), we are also able to produce coupling between two modes of different polarization and spatial distribution (heteroatomic molecule). 相似文献
