Let X be a Banach space and let A be a closed linear operator on X. It is shown that the abstract Cauchy problem enjoys maximal regularity in weighted L p -spaces with weights , where , if and only if it has the property of maximal L p -regularity. In this paper we extend a result by Bourgain-Lindenstrauss-Milman (see [1]). We prove: Let 0 < ? < 1/2, 0< r < 1, r< p < 2. There exists a constant C = C(r,p,?) such that if X is any n-dimensional subspace of Lp(0, l), then there exists Y ? ?Nr with d(X, Y) ≦ 1 + ?, whenever N > Cn. As an application, we obtain the following partial result: Let 0 < r < 1. There exist constants C = C(r) and C' = C' (r) such that if X is any n-dimensional subspace of Lr(0,1), then there exists Y ? Nr with d(X, Y) ≦ C (logn)l/r, whenever NC'n.  相似文献

We show that ifX is the closed linear span inL p [0,1] of a subsequence of the Haar system, thenX is isomorphic either tol p or toL p [0,1], [1<p<∞]. We give criteria to determine which of these cases holds; for a given subsequence, this is independent ofp. This is part of the second author's Ph.D. dissertation, written at the University of Alberta under the supervision of J. L. B. Galmen. Given 1≤ p,q < ∞, let BLpLq be the class of all Banach lattices X such that X is isometrically lattice isomorphic to a band in some Lp(Lq)-Banach lattice. We show that the range of a positive contractive projection on any BLpLq-Banach lattice is itself in BLpLq. It is a consequence of this theorem and previous results that BLpLq is first-order axiomatizable in the language of Banach lattices. By studying the pavings of arbitrary BLpLq-Banach lattices by finite dimensional sublattices that are themselves in this class, we give an explicit set of axioms for BLpLq. We also consider the class of all sublattices of Lp(Lq)-Banach lattices; for this class (when p/q is not an integer) we give a set of axioms that are similar to Krivine’s well-known axioms for the subspaces of Lp-Banach spaces (when p/2 is not an integer). The bounds LX,Y (A) and ‖A X,Y of an operator A = (a n,k ) n, k ≥0 with monotonic rows are evaluated, where X and Y are quasi-normed real valued sequence spaces. In particular, in the case where X = ℓ p and Y = ℓ q , our results give the results when part 0 < p ≤ 1 and 0 < q < ∞ to complement the other results with range p ≥ 1 and 0 < q < ∞. We discuss the L p (0 ≤ p < 1) minimization problem arising from sparse solution construction and compressed sensing. For any fixed 0 < p < 1, we prove that finding the global minimal value of the problem is strongly NP-Hard, but computing a local minimizer of the problem can be done in polynomial time. We also develop an interior-point potential reduction algorithm with a provable complexity bound and demonstrate preliminary computational results of effectiveness of the algorithm.  相似文献

We give su?cient conditions on Banach spaces X and Y so that the projective tensor product X ?π Y, the dual (X ?? In [5], it is proved that a bounded linear operator u, from a Banach space Y into an Lp(S, ν) factors through Lp1 (S, ν) for some p1 > 1, if Y* is of finite cotype; (S, ν) is a probability space for p = 0, and any measure space for 0 < p < 1. In this paper, we generalize this result to uv, where u : YLp(S, ν) and v : XY are linear operators such that v* is of finite Ka?in cotype. In this paper we study C0-semigroups on X × Lp( − h, 0; X) associated with linear differential equations with delay, where X is a Banach space. In the case that X is a Banach lattice with order continuous norm, we describe the associated modulus semigroup, under minimal assumptions on the delay operator. We study the solvabitlity of the Dirichlet problem for the heat operator in weighted Sobolev L p -spaces in noncylindrical paraboloid type domains with isolated characteristic points at the boundary. For any p > 1 we find a necessary and sufficient L p -solvability condition and establish an L p -estimate. The results are formulated in terms of Muckenhoupt type conditions on the weight. A function analytic in the unit disk is called (p, A)-lacunary if the inequalities n k Ak p hold for all k 0 with some 1 < p < and A > 0. In this paper, for 1 < p < 2 and A > 0, we construct a (p, A)-lacunary function f 1,p,A (z) decreasing as x 1 – 0 at a rate close to the optimal rate for (p, A)-lacunary functions. Let X be a finite aspherical CW-complex whose fundamental group π 1(X) possesses a subnormal series with a non-trivial elementary amenable group G 0. We investigate the L 2-invariants of the universal covering of such a CW-complex X. The main result is the proof of the vanishing of the L 2-torsion under the condition that π 1(X) has semi-integral determinant. We further show that the Novikov–Shubin invariants are positive.  相似文献
