Dispersion equations of a nonisothermal plasma waveguide in a constant external magnetic field are derived, when the magnetic field intensity tends to infinity. The plasma electrons' thermal velocity are taken in mind. A numerical analysis of dispersion equations for the E- (TH-) and H- (TE-) waves is made. In the high-frequency range it shows the possibility of the slow E-waves exciting with a higher frequency than the electron Langmuir frequency. In the range near to the ion Langmuir frequency it shows the existence of waves with an anomalous dispersion. These waves are named low-frequency backward E-waves and it is shown, that in some frequency ranges they change the group velocity sign. The dispersion is investigated also in respect to the waveguide plasma filling.  相似文献

The dispersion relation of TM modes with respect to the direction of the static magnetic field is derived for a waveguide filled with warm plasma which is uniaxial and drifting in the transverse direction of the guide axis. The expressions for the fields are also derived. The propagation characteristics of TM modes are studied in detail. When the drift velocity is greater than the acoustic velocity, a new branch describing the characteristics of a low-frequency propagating wave which starts at zero frequency and has at the upper limit a resonance condition is observed.  相似文献

Issues of numerical simulation of an experiment on compression and heating of a target in a magnetic field are discussed. It is found that the applied magnetic field predominantly increases the plasma lifetime and plasma jet characteristics (velocity, Mach number, density, etc.). An analysis of the effects of the application of an external magnetic field on the behavior of plasma-driven guns (plasma jets) and laser-driven systems (laser beams) is carried out. A single-ridge waveguide with a symmetrical longitudinal trough, designated as a ridge-trough waveguide has been used as a transition in a V-band (50-75 GHz) wafer probe recently. In this paper, the field patterns for the dominant TE mode and the first higher TE mode in ridge-trough waveguide with different configurations are presented by finite element method. The field patterns in this paper have important values for us to understand the transmission characteristics of ridge-trough waveguide, and will be of practical significance in designing ridge-trough waveguide components in microwave and millimeter wave engineering.  相似文献

Truncated-circular waveguide are used in some microwave and millimeter-wave components. The field patterns in truncated-circular waveguide are desired but usually difficult to be computed by conventional methods. In this paper, they are efficiently determined by using finite element method. The electrical field lines of the dominant TE mode and the first sixteen higher-order TE modes are presented. The calculated results in this paper have important values for us to understand the transmission characteristics of truncated-circular waveguide, and will be of practical significance in designing waveguide components in microwave and millimeter wave engineering.  相似文献

To describe the long time asymptotic behaviour of weakly nonlinear plasma waves propagating in a strongly magnetized plasmafilled cylindrical waveguide the usual KDV equation which is first order in wave amplitude is extended to second order including the effects of finite temperature, mobile ions and giving a proper treatment to the radial co-ordinate for all possible modes of propagation. The second-order effects on the first-order solitary wave profile, phase speed and first order correction to the wavelength are all determined and discussed.  相似文献

A linear analysis is described on stabilities driven by an intense relativistic electron beam in an infinitely long, plasma-filled, and dielectric-lined circular waveguide immersed in a finite strength axial magnetic field. A dispersion equation is derived from the cold fluid theory and solved numerically. Beam-plasma instabilities due to interaction between beam modes and the Trivelpiece-Gould modes appear as well as the Cherenkov and the cyclotron Cherenkov instabilities. Parametric researches are carried out varying magnetic field strength, plasma density, and dielectric constant. Effects of a finite magnetic field and plasma filling are discussed in connection with the possibilities of using this system as a microwave radiation source.  相似文献

Dust lattice waves of a one-dimensional plasma crystal chain with an external magnetic field are investigated. When the magnetic field is in the vertical direction (θ- 0), perpendicular to the chain, the vertical transverse mode is not affected, while the horizontal transverse mode is coupled with the longitudinal mode. In the high frequency range, we obtain an ‘upper-hybrid' dust lattice mode and in the low frequency range, we obtain a 'lower-hybrid' dust lattice mode. Between the two modes, a 'gap' is formed. When the magnetic field is oriented to the chain (0 = π/2), the longitudinal mode is not affected while both the horizontal and vertical transverse modes are shifted due to the effect of the magnetic field.  相似文献

In this paper, finite element method is first used to discuss the field patterns in a hollow perfectly conducting pipe with elliptical cross section. The electrical field lines of the dominant TE mode as well as the magnetic field lines of the lowest TM mode are presented. The transformation of an elliptically polarized standing wave in a cavity by a suddenly and uniformly created plasma is discussed. Theoretical expressions for the plasma induced wiggler magnetic field as well as the frequency-upshifted standing wave are derived. By choosing appropriate values of the source wave parameters and plasma parameters, one can get wiggler magnetic field of desired magnitude, direction and wiggler wavelength. The present paper considers the plasma-beam instability of a space limited electron beam in a strong magnetic field (ωH ? ωo). The form of the beam was taken to be both cylindrical and plane. The threshold of the non-linear regime turned out to be weakly dependent on the beam form and independent of the magnetic field intensity.
